Hey everyone. Just got my first Note 3 a few weeks back and finally getting around to customizing it, but I'm running into problems getting it to work just right.
I'm used to CyanogenMod and wanted to get it for this Note 3. Well, the only versions are nightlies, but those have worked for me well in the past, so I figured no harm in trying them out. Everything installs A-OK and runs fine until I try to flash GAPPS.
Correct me if I'm wrong here, but this is my method and everything that I've been able to gather from people in the CM IRC tell me it's correct:
Full wipe (system, cache, dalvik, data, internal), flash CM, flash GAPPS, reboot.
I'm using the latest CM 12.1 nightly, the latest GAPPS available for it (ARM, 5.1, pico), and clearing everything I possibly can before installing. Even still, I keep getting "Unfortunately, Android keyboard (AOSP) has stopped" upon boot every time. I can't clear the data for the keyboard either in the app settings, nor can I access the play store to try to update the keyboard since, well, I don't have a keyboard.
Any ideas of what I could try? I really enjoy CM, but have no experience trying anything else out though.
Tried other Gapp versions such as Banks?

No, I have not. Just pico and nano versions of the ARM 5.1.
I cannot find GAPPS by Banks anywhere. The only link I could come across is dead.
I ended up just getting an APK of SwiftKey so I could actually start using my phone. I guess this'll work, and SwiftKey is pretty widely praised it seems.

I just installed the CM10.1 Nightly from 1/13/13 and installed it over the last stable build (10.0). Now, when I boot my phone I get messages from time to time (a few an hour) about Youtube not working and Google Play Music not working. These are probably some of my most used apps and its really sucking not having them working. I upgraded Gapps to a 4.2 version and I still have the same issue. Any ideas?

Did you install the new "Gapps" package?
Edit: didn't see you installed the latest gapps.
Did you try going into settings>apps>all apps and hitting "clear data" for the affected apps? Also, make sure there are no google play updates for those apps.
If all else fails, I would first try reflashing the Gapps package and maybe CM 10.1 as well, and if reflashing doesn't work, then do a factory reset.
BTW, I flashed 10.1 and 4.2 Gapps over 10.0 and had no problems. There were some updates that needed dling though

My Gapps never said 121212 however it did say it was compatible with 4.2. Downloading the 121212 one now, gonna flash and try that. Also, I cleared data and checked for updates to no avail.
Thank you for the speedy reply!
Alright, so that didn't work. Still greeted with "Youtube has stopped working" and "Google Play Music has stopped working" upon booting. Is there no other things I can try? I feel like factory reset is unsafe and will probably make me lose data. haha.
Fixed it! Just uninstalled both apps and reinstalled them fresh from the Play Store. Thank you for the help either way!
Hi, I've looked around quite a lot and I can't seem to find a thread that answers my question or even one that has the same issue.
Basically, I want to install the PACman rom with JB 4.2.2. I can get that working pretty well by itself, but the issue comes in when I try to install gapps. I've tried several different versions of gapps and every time, the second the phone boots up it says gapps has crashed. And it continues to pop up. The Play store crashes as soon as it opens, Gmail crashes. the Browser doesn't crash, except on download. And with certain versions of gapps, the Android Keyboard will not run (it crashes before it even opens every single time).
I've found other threads that talk about similar issues with the Galaxy S3 that tell me to go into Settings>Apps>All and enable Download Manager. I can't find that anywhere (which might be the real root of the issue I suppose). I see lots of other activities, all of which are enabled, but no Download Manager or even anything that really sounds like it could be a renamed Download Manager. I've hit the "Restore App Preferences" button too. No good.
I've deleted everything, wiped all possible caches, and repeated the process about 15 times. I've used different orders of doing things (that I find on different forum posts), and different versions of both gapps and PACman. I don't want to go below v20, I don't think, v20.1 doesn't work because WIFI doesn't work (known bug) and I can't find anything higher than that even though I believe v22 is the latest.
I have installed custom roms before. I'm currently using AOKP 4.1.2 and everything works fine with that.
Any help fixing this issue or any alternative suggestion that gives me jb 4.2 would be GREATLY appreciated. I am going for a daily driver rom, not something experimental and (overly) buggy.
THANKS!

I tried that yes. Though all the PACman stuff says to use 4.1 and it'll work fine. I tried both. Though 4.1 seemed to work "better" than 4.2. As in the keyboard worked.
I think I fixed it
Pretty sure I fixed it. The issue seems to have been that PACman didn't come with DownloadManager.apk ..... Not sure why or if I just happened to download from a bad source, but in any case, that would certainly prevent gapps from downloading things.
So I edited the rom, added DownloadManager.apk from another rom I have on my computer and flashed that with the 4.2.2 gapps. Seems to work great so far!!!!
So i am at a bit of a problem here and i cant figure it out.
I have installed both CM11 from 04/24/14, and tried the 4/08/14 Experimental build, both with the latest GApps zip file for CM11 from
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Google_Apps
The install seems to go fine, CM11 works, i can get wifi, connect to google account, gmail, internet, hangouts everything works..
Except Play Store...it crashes every time. Ive tried everything i can think of, those things include
Run the installed one from Gapps, it starts and i can see the initial disclaimer i have to accept then it crashes.
Download Google Play store apk and push it via ADB install, doesnt load.
Use GAppManager, the instant i select a version of GApps to install it crashes.
Try flashing an earlier version of GApps(For ICS) from KFFAide, doesnt work..
Go into Apps, find Google Play store that comes from the flashed GApps and clear its cache...
Ive tried flashing just CM11, booting it, then going back into TWRP and flashing GApps
Tried clearing dalvik/system and every other TWRP wipe except internal
Im really out of ideas...any help would be great nothing i do seems to do it...
I also tried flashing back to a version of 10.2 Experimental for KF HD but it just fails immediately when i try.

Try the GAPPS from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942 find which ones you want to use and then choose goo as the download place. Then get a slightly older Gapps. I'm using a set from 1-23-2014 and have had zero issues. They will update anyway so having today's 0 day Gapps is not a huge deal. If you want mini Gapps, here is the link http://goo.im/devs/paranoidandroid/roms/gapps-mini/older versions

I've been using the latest GApps ("stock" experience) from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942 and it works great. It will error out some apps the first time with a notification that you must update Google Play Services to continue. Sign in and update Google Play Services through the store and everything works like a champ.
A bonus of using the PA GApps package (if you want all those apps at all) is that they install to /system and don't use up as much /data space. Maybe not an issue for many, but every little bit helps right?
Keep in mind that the "stock" (i.e. Nexus-esque) package will remove the AOSP Browser, Messaging, and Keyboard. As long as you're good with Chrome, Hangouts, and Google Keyboard, this (again) saves you storage. If you prefer the AOSP apps, read the thread for how to keep them or install one of the other packages from the thread.
It turns out the issue is unrelated to Google apps, ANY application i use and try to download with will crash.
Try to grab an attachment from Gmail, crash
Try to download a file via Chrome, crash
Try to download via Play store, crash
I have no idea what the hell is causing this ive checked my Download and Downloader apps they are both running, ive tried restarting them, disabling them, and many other things...
At this point how do i return my Kindle to a "Stock" Kindle Fire HD as if i bought it from the store?
I may need to return it, im wondering if this is a hardware issue? Doesnt make sense though because everything else seems to work, i can go view internet stuff so the wifi isnt bad, and i can copy files to it via USB so the storage isnt bad...

Try flashing a slightly older KitKat Gapps http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2579123 If you want to go stock then use the system restore tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2011126 Use the stock USB cord.

Phone is a Samsung s3, sgh-T999L on tmobile.
Problem I am having is if I install anything above like pico gapps, basically anything that has more than like google play services, my camera on KK 4.4.x roms force closes and locks up.
I have narrowed it down to somthing withing the gapps packages that is causing the issue with the camera, but I cannot for the life of me track down what app is doing it, if it IS an app, my assumption is that it's an app that conflicts with the camera.
What I have done thus far is a Ful wipe, data, cache, internal, dalvik, etc....everthing, and I do this kind of wipe on every flash/install of roms.
I have tried cm11 full gapps, pa full, micro, and pico gapps, and every one of them except for the pico gapps, causes issues with the camera.
I have tried this on 3 different 4.4.4 roms....carbon rom, cm11 rom, and Octos KK rom, and all three have the exact same issue.
I first tried without using gapps and camera worked, so I then proceeded to try different versions of gapps, and narrowed it down to pico gapps works, while other gaps do not.
So has anyone else run into this issue or problem? I've tried searching google but I'm not exactly sure what to search for so I tried different search strings with no resolve, so I decided to post here and see if anyone else has had this issue.
In TW roms camera works fine, no issues. In KK roms useing just the minimal gapps (pico gapps) camera also works fine, using anything above the gapps package be it PA or cm, the camera does not function. When I say not function I mean it locks up, fc's, gives an errors of "cannot connect to camera" (I've done a search on that as well and got nothing).
So if anyone has had this issue and/or maybe has a fix, please please help!!!!!!

Hello all,
i'm having some fun installing roms on my T311 tablet, but it seems to me that the most "stable" and "usable" one is the cyano 12.1.
Now, the problem. I can't get the facebook app installed (i always get and "error -504"), and i really don't know why.
Obviously i've googled for a while, but i've tried:
- clearing cache of google apps
- wiping cache from recovery
- new install of cyano+gapps
and nothing worked.
I've also tried to install a different gapps than "open gapps" i have, but i got an error flashing (clean cyano install), so i turned back to open gapps.
The strange thing is that with cyano13 (with the same open gapps..) it works. With other roms, it works. It's only cyano 12.1..
What can i try?
thanks

i've tried tons of times with the last available build. (20151231)
now i've gone "back" to cyano 13, but the problem with wifi is so annoying.. (i mean this: http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/120233-cm13-wifi-dropping/ )
