Porting to a similar device. Devs please help! - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have HTC Desire EYE which is way very similar to M8 "same chip, processor, RAM). They just have different cameras and different NFC driver.
My device has only one developer who - thankfully - works on porting Sense and GPE ROMs but since its release in November 2014 the device only had one lollipop AOSP cyanogenmod without a a working camera from another developer who abandoned the device later and left his work incomplete. I want to port either pure vanilla AOSP or Cyanogenmod MM from M8 "Your awesome device" but need some instructions from developers so that I get the different drivers, blobs.. etc and integrate them in my base ROM from M8. We have a fully working GPE MM from our developer can that help? Thank you.

General about Kernels and Roms

Sorry for me not understanding everything regarding kernels and roms but had some questions.
Why can't new ROMs be built with Android 4.3 for the HTC One for Verizon? I know a developer was saying that HTC needs to release the source code/kernel until it could be built.
- Side note: how are the other roms able to port Sense 5.5 into HTC One already (I Believe its from HTC One Max)? From what I understand Sense 5.5 is not out yet for regular users. Wouldn't you need the kernel/source for Sense 5.5 to port it or is it because there is already source for 4.2.2 (which the HTC One Max runs on) that is why they can port Sense 5.5, just move over the changed files....?
If that's the case how come there are Android 4.3.1 AOSP ROMS for the HTC One like Vanir, CM2, Mokee. Is it because they are built from AOSP? So because the AOSP source is open then that's why we can build those AOSP roms?
Yes. HTC sense is not open until they release the source...unlike aosp which can be modified for our device tree. If sense is being ported to our phone prior to 4.3 dropping...it is because it is not 4.3.
Sent from my One.

It's not fair!

There is a Android 4.4 + Sense 6 custom ROM for HTC One S.
But Unfortunately there is no Custom ROM for HOX!!!!
Plz some developer develop a rom with latest android + sense 5/6.:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
It's not gonna happen, live with it or sell the device. The only rom with some sense 6 parts is the viper x rom.
No developer is going to do it, to much hassle and errors will occur due to missing drivers and the difference in hardware from the device where the port could come from ......

Idk let's wait and see...
Sent from my Desire S using XDA Free mobile app
hardware requirements
well, it seems Android 5 requires less ram to operate than previous versions of Android(Sandwich-Kitkat).......our Desire has 0.5GB Ram, which should be more than enough for new OS(Android 5).
cheers
My first Android phone was HTC Desire white edition with Amoled screen and i love it . Now im using HTC One but if someone do a Rom for the Desire to have android L i will be sooooo happy
I also hope that somebody might port a Lollipop ROM to HTC Desire or develop their own ROM.
Background:
I have an old Tablet (TF101) which is now over 3.5 years old and was shipped with Honeycomb 3.0. It sucked! So I rooted the device, installed custom roms etc. Today I am running Lollipop KatKiss #14b, and it is amazing what an such old device can deliver based on performance. I touch on an app in the launcher and the app appears nearly immediately - wow! Previous ROMs (4.4.4, 4.3, 4.2.x, 4.1.2,...) are much slower. I love ART and would love this feature on the HTC Desire as well. Also, F2FS seems f*cking interessting (up to twice the speed compared to ext4). An HTC Custom ROM with F2FS and ART support based on Android Lollipop 5.0 (incl. a Apps2SD solution) would be absolutly great, am I right?

Evervolv is building rom based on lollipop branch for htc bravo. God bless evervolv team.
until (if) lollipop is ready, try DMBFR Evervolv KitKat 4.4.4 2014.08.15-squished (google it) or KitKang by spezi77

No hustle, but any chance you could tell how the development is going? Will there be Lollipop for the HTC Desire (Bravo) anytime soon? Or will it take a long time?

ROMs that support FM radio functionality?

I recently got the international (H815) edition of the G4, partly because I wanted the FM radio functionality. But I also am a big fan of vanilla Android and was looking to install a ROM that was at least slightly closer to vanilla than the LG skin. My first thought was Cyanogen but it explicitely states that it doesn't support the radio, and the looking I did from there didn't come up with anything. Are there any ROMs that are close-ish to vanilla that still support the radio?
Thanks
None other than the stock rom you mentioned, not sure whether the source/api has been released by lge
Sadly, no ROM will support it. At least, no ROM based on CM. Tested Spirit1 and Spirit2 with kernel set to permissive. As long as no developer considers to build a kernel, supporting the API, there is no chance to have FM-radio on our device. Sorry.
P.S.: Ask Mike (developer of Spirit1 and Spirit2), if there is any chance for supporting our device: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059296

Steps to port AOSP?

I'm not a newbie but still not a 'developer' I barely made ROMs. I'm willing to give my time to port cyanogenmod or at least an AOSP that can base to the rest of the AOSP roms. What are the steps mainly?
M8 is actually very similar with our device, what are the modifications needed to make the base rom from M8 work?

I too asked @xxooperminixx same qsn about porting m8 CM ROM to our eye......
But she told that it also might need SSD and takes more time...
I love everything about my Desire EYE except its lack for ROMs. I had Galaxy S3 before it which is an old device from 2012 yet it has every ROM you can imagine to date! It has Cyanogenmod MM since MONTHS. @xXminiWHOOPERxX is an awesome developer, she gives much of her time and effort to port ROMs to our device, but she can't have all of the development alone. That's too much on a single person. If she can teach both of us how to port from M8 AOSP ROMs and post kernels for Sense and GPE roms to complete her guide the device now has at least three developers working on the device.
I'd love to learn porting Roms and test them as well.
She posted a pretty straightforward guide on porting from m8 to desire eye. Even though it's meant for sense roms, it might be of help. Here's the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-eye/general/guide-porting-htc-msm8974-devices-t3416014
