Well i had instaled 2.8.7.0 TWRP and the super su is UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.37 all from here on forum , still i cant install any Ruu but im following your TWRP backup restore tutorial steps maybe its working

It seems that you don't really read the thread that I posted.
1. You only can install TWRP meant for M8s. Those for M8 won't work on your device.
Try twrp-recovery-2.8.6.0-m8s-qlul.img
2. SuperSU 2.37 is wrong file, you need SuperSU 2.76
3. My backup thread has nothing related to M8s, only for M8 because I have a M8 not M8s.

[Q] Hi, no OS on M8, flash rom in TWRP "some symlinks fail"

Hi,
Apologies in advance because I'm sure this is a very noob problem, but I was trying to update my M8 to lollipop and ended up messing it up somewhere. It was rooted before, S-Off, unlocked, using Android HD 4.4.4.
When I try to flash the Android HD Lollipop rom in TWRP from internal or external sdcard, or from USB OTG, the installer starts and looks successful until it gets to "Creating toolbox symlinks". After that it says "symlink: some symlinks failed"
When it finishes, it goes back into recovery and TWRP says "Successful"
When I go to reboot TWRP says it isn't rooted and asks if I'd like to root. Whether I say "yes" or "no" it reboots to a white HTC screen with a little lock at the bottom. The lock wasn't there when I started. After a few seconds the screen turns off then back on, then it goes into recovery.
If I try to install the update-supersu from internal or external card, or from USB OTG, in TWRP it says "success" and no errors, but then when I go to reboot it, it says "does not appear to be rooted" and asks if I'd like to root it. Whether I say yes or no it reboots, freezes, then boots into recovery and I start over.
In boot where it used to say "tampered" it now says "modified", and under that "unlocked", "s-off", a bunch of numbers that look important, but nothing in "OS-".
I can get into recovery and fastboot or hboot just fine. I have ADB, fastboot, and I think all the drivers I need on my laptop, and both recognize my phone when it's plugged in and I type "adb devices". I've tried like 10 different guides to push and flash and honestly too many commands to remember, but nothing that can get it to boot into a working rom.
To be honest, every single time I've tried to root something, I've broken something, but usually if I keep looking I can find the same problem and someone who's fixed it and figure it out, but I've been at it nearly 20 hours straight now and I just can't see what I'm missing (besides OS Dx)
If anyone knows what I've done and how to undo it, I'd be grateful for any advice.
Thanks,
Josh
*** I think I got the wrong firmware, but not sure how to find the right one without downloading them reandomly and checking the android-info***
Boot to bootloader/fastboot then run command fastboot getvar all
Post here the result (delete serial no. & imei no.)
Will see what we can do later
Your problem most probably is the old version of TWRP (2.7.0.2) that you use.
You should try 2.8.3.0 if you have a KitKat firmware and 2.8.5.0 if it is a Lollipop firmware.

So you have a AT&T device.
What actually you want to do because there is no lollipop update for AT&T yet.
Since your device is S-Off, you can change
CID : CWS__001 to 11111111
MID : 0P6B12000 to 0P6B10000
then flash a EU firmware.
Or you take any unsigned EU firmware.zip, open it with 7-zip and extract out the android-info.txt and edit this android-info.txt to include your CID and MID (use notepad++ for this), drag the modded android-info.txt into the unsigned firmware.zip
Flash this modded firmware, should work too.
And important thing about TWRP : 2.8.3.0 if you have a KitKat firmware and 2.8.5.0 if it is a Lollipop firmware
Then you can install any of the lollipop Sense base custom ROM.
Thanks. I'll chug some coffee and give it a try.
Ok, I changed my CID and MID without too much trouble, but about "TWRP : 2.8.3.0 if you have a KitKat firmware and 2.8.5.0 if it is a Lollipop firmware", how can I tell which I have?
Oh, I used the ADB method if that matters.
After change of CID/MID, you need to flash firmware.zip in RUU mode not ADB.
Your current firmware is KitKat .. if you stick to it, you need 2.8.3.0
After you flash a 4.xx.xxx.x firmware - you need 2.8.5.0
Check this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/general/vomerguides-m8-bootldr-unlock-s-off-t2800727
Thanks for putting up with all the questions.
I just want to make sure I'm doing this correctly. I need to update the firmware to a 4x one, then twrp 2.8.5.0, then root and rom? I'm reading the guide you linked, but I'm not sure which firmware to use, for example it lists 5xxBase, then underneath it lists firmwares starting with 4xx.
Or does it not matter?
1. Update firmware, flash the widely use - 4.16.401.10
2. Flash TWRP 2.8.5.0
3. Install ROM
No need manual root because custom ROM is prerooted.
I got to go now .. be back in next 4 hrs

TYSM!! That's what I was looking for
Ok, I updated the firmware and TWRP (I think), but when I try to do anything like flash a rom all the partitions come up as unmountable before the installer starts. I know I read something similar before so I'll try to find that.

You don't seems be using the updated TWRP 2.8.5.0
Your fastboot shows that you may use the old 2.7.0.2
Download and install TWRP 2.8.5.0 - http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m8
command fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.8.5.0-m8.img
Then boot to recovery - select wipe - advance - format data - yes
Go to reboot menu - select recovery (to reboot back to recovery
Select "Mount" menu - enable MTP
Transfer the ROM zip to either Internal Storage or MicroSD (if you have one)
Then try to install the ROM.zip
that's so weird...from within twrp the little info bar thing at the top says v2.8.5.0
Ill install again
Yeah .. unless you remove the (bootloader) version-main: info, TWRP 2.8.5.0 should not remove that after you flash the firmware.
Anyway ... try the other steps that I mentioned.
You did it man, you fixed the phone I thought I would have to throw away.

Different ways to skin the same cat. There is nothing "wrong" with the solution that was used.
It worked, and now I know to make 100% sure I have the right versions of everything BEFORE I start, so I'm happy.

HELP! Bricked HTC One M8 (UK, Unbranded)

Help! I've bricked my HTC One M8!
I had TWRP and root and wanted to install the latest OTA update. I downloaded what I thought was the stock recovery and flashed through Fastboot.
Everything was fine, rebooted and the OTA updated downloaded and installed successfully. However, on re-starting, the phone is stuck on the HTC One logo screen. The power button is un-responsive.
I can power down with "power and up" and get to fastboot with "power and down". If I select "Recovery" I go to the stock recovery screen.
It's an unbranded UK model and I did a get var all before flashing:

Any idea what next?
Try reinstall SuperSu zip and reboot.
If still stuck, restore 4.16.401.13 backup (system only)

Thanks for the prompt response! I haven't taken a backup and I'm a bit out of my depth here!
I've downloaded the 4.16.401.10 firmware from XDA. Would that work? How do I flash it?
No.. that won't work.
As I said.. reflash SuperSu zip since now you have TWRP installed.
If still stuck, restore the partition part from 4.16.401.13 backup
I know you don't make the backup.. how can you make backup when you can't boot your device after OTA, right ?
I have that backup and it's in my thread linked in my signature

HTC M8 ONE stuck on HTC logo.

Hey I posted my problem on the other forum, but i figured this one was probably better for my issue.
I recently tried to root my phone with this (cant post links yet) guide, however something must have not worked out because I cant get passed the HTC logo. I can get into the fastboost mode but im not really sure what to do there. I tried the factory reset with TWRP but with no success. Its also in S-ON and i saw that most guides require it to be S-OFF in order to work. Its a European phone.
I dont have any important stuff on it, I just want it to work again.
Can anyone help me?
In other thread you said you have Germany version, now you said it's European version.
Post fastboot getvar all result without serial & imei no, so people can be able to give you correct direction

You can't link, but you could have described what actions you took, in detail. Otherwise we have no idea what you did, and can only guess.
You probably used an outdated guide (and possibly outdated toolkit), which which mean you used the wrong (old) versions TWRP and old version SuperSU, which results in no boot. For your current configuration, you need to use TWRP 3.0 and SuperSU 2.76.
Also, if you make a TWRP backup before making any mods (such as root) you can easily restore that backup if the mod goes wrong (such as the root not working and causing no boot in this case).

You (and the user in the 2nd post) have violated some really basic common sense rules/concepts. My intent is not to scold, but to be constructive, and hopefully you will learn some things from this experience:
1) You should always make a TWRP backup, before doing any mods to the phone (root, custom ROM, etc.). If you have TWRP installed, make a backup. Its that simple. Lots of folks skip this important and basic step, at their own peril. If you had a TWRP backup, you could have just restored it, to revert the original system partition.
2) Don't mess with wiping partitions, if you don't understand what they are, and what the result will be. That section is called "Advanced" for a reason. The default wipe is sufficient for most folks, in most circumstances, and it says that on the Wipe screen, again for good reason.
3) Don't mess with TWRP if you don't know the basic skills of how to recover (flash a ROM, restore a TWRP backup, etc.).
Additionally, the OS number being blank most likely means that the TWRP version is obsolete (know bug on very old TWRP builds. So proper TWRP version is likely not installed, which in itself may cause issues with flashing ROM.

Stuck on bootloop or htc logo when booting to recovery

I tried to root my phone using the tutorial on youtube the All-in-one rooting chuchu but when I got into flashing TWRP recovery it stucks on the htc logo that's why I can't install/flash supersu. I tried to clear cache using fastboot but it still the same. Help please. I tried all other version still the same.

Sorry for the late reply got no internet yesterday
Your case is even worse.
You used tools & twrp meant for M8 but your device is not a M8 but M8s.
They are different, you can't install recovery for M8 on your device, you can't install any ROM for M8 on your device ... won't work.
And you also in wrong section meant for M8.
M8s section is here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/one-m8s-general
Find your device TWRP here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/ht...ral/make-custom-recovery-htc-one-m8s-t3114245
On the last two pages, someone post a link to the working TWRP for your M8s.
After install TWRP, install latest version SuperSU to root.

Sorry about that. This was just only gift from my father and also didn't know that there is that M8s. I'll go to that section then. Thanks sir!
After you installed TWRP for M8s, make sure to make a full nandroid backup first before you root it.
If something goes wrong, you can rely on your backup to revert to stock as there is not much resources for M8s.
