I bought moto 360 and it arrived few days ago.
Since then I tried (literally) EVERYTHING to get this damn thing to charge up until 80%(so I can go through setup).
It NEVER goes up until that, even if I charged for a DAY(12 Hrs - 65%)
But that's another problem.
If I put my Moto 360(with MORE THAN 60% BATTERY) on the charger, it turns off after few seconds - NOT the 'Theatre mode', but a 'Power OFF'.
I bought a charger from Ebay(which says genuine w/ original-looking box, but I know those can be copied since I got shammed with original boxes before), and the watch gets REALLY hot while charging.
IS that normal?
Note : I really try to avoid return/service since that means +$10~20 for international shipping, and I want to use this damn thing NOW.
My watch version is Android 5.1.1, so I can't do factory reset from boot loader.
Is this a 1st gen or 2nd gen 360? Did you buy it new or used? Will it run fine for a few hours off the charger, and can you get it pair with a phone? Is there any discoloration on the screen that "pulses" when you press on the screen or the back?
Assuming you have a used 1st gen watch, I would guess that the internal battery is worn out to the point where it's now bad, and won't take a charge anymore. If there's pulsing discoloration on the screen, this confirms a bloated battery.
I bought it used, and it will run few hours. But the screen wasn't discolored.
After pushing through setup via hand-made USB cable, Everything worked fine.
Yeah, it sometimes overheats & turns off, but I think it's because it is a defective charger(the problem persisted with two chargers before-now it works with samsung charger)

My wife and I each purchased a Galaxy Nexus from the Google Play store last July. Recently, my wife's phone started only charging sporadically when connected to a charger. The symptoms don't line up exactly with any other situation I've found described online, so please bear with me while I type out a full report.
I tried removing the battery and using a precision screwdriver to "nudge" the micro USB port "tongue" toward the screen. I thought it had fixed the problem as the phone started charging immediately after I plugged it back in, but when I checked it ~30 minutes later, it had stopped charging.
I tried taking the battery out of my GNex and putting it in my wife's phone; I put my wife's battery in my phone. That seemed to fix the problem, though, again, it was only temporary. I was able to get both batteries to charge to ~80%, then swapped them back. Again, my wife's phone charged the battery, but only for a short while. I swapped batteries twice more to rule out a bad battery; the same symptoms persisted, so I can confirm the battery is not the culprit.
I tried cleaning the micro USB port by removing the battery and using a needle and 91% isopropyl alcohol to clear any dirt or dust from the contacts. I waited for the alcohol to evaporate, reinstalled the battery, and plugged the phone back in to the charger. Same result as before: Phone charged for a little while, but stopped charging before reaching full charge.
We tried 4 different USB chargers: The charger that came with my wife's GNex, the charger that came with my GNex, the charger that came with the Droid RAZR MAXX that I use for work, and the charger that came with my wife's Verizon Jetpack. Same results on all chargers.
Now for some oddities:
The "charge for a while, but stops charging after a while" persists whether the phone is on or off. I turned off my wife's phone at bedtime one night, plugged it into the charger, confirmed that the charging icons appeared (a lightning bolt, then an animated charge meter). When I woke up, the phone was still turned off but only had 13% charge.
Whenever I plug the phone in to my Windows 7 laptop, I'm able to access the file system every time (100% of the 4-5 times I tried). The Battery settings page will say "Not Charging," but I can view and modify files using Windows Explorer without issue.
And now, for a note from my wife:
Unless my memory fails me, I think this was one morning when the charger felt warm on the adapter where it plugs in. Pretty sure this was the day I took the charger with me to work. I had the phone turned off and plugged it in and later turned it on to check the charge and it had been charging. I left it on and it continued to charge. I had to unplug it on three separate occasions and I plugged it back in and it did ultimately charge fully. But when unplugged, the battery did drain quickly, and I had not previously had a battery life issue.

The phone will sometimes get warm--not hot, but warm--around the area under the camera when charging. (I'm guessing it's near where the battery makes contact with the phone.) The charger itself will also get warm sometimes.
Sometimes, even though the Battery section of Settings will say "Not charging," the battery would charge very, very slowly (as in, an increase of 1% charge over the course of 15-45 minutes). When plugged in, the battery would sometimes hold charge (e.g. stays level at ~45%) but not charge or discharge.
When I called Samsung support, I waited less than a minute to talk with a person, explained the situation and symptoms, and was told, yes, the phone is out of warranty (by two months, which I admit is aggravating), but I could send it in for repairs for a total charge of $70.63. That includes shipping both ways. Total repair time would be 5-7 business days. Add 2 days for shipping each way and my wife would be without a phone for 9-11 business days if we were to send it in. It's good to know that the repair are (in my opinion) reasonable because I was hoping to hold on to my phone for at least 2 years before upgrading (and I'd prefer to wait at least 3 years).
I've since got an old iPhone 3GS working on Straight Talk (which was its own ordeal) so my wife has something she can use if and when we send in the phone for repairs. (Side note: My wife really misses Swype.) She plans on backing up her data tonight so I can wipe and reload her GNex and attempt to rule out software and OS as the root cause.
In advance of wiping and reloading my wife's GNex, I had a few questions:
Do you agree with my hunch that the root cause of this issue is hardware, not software? I'd love to be wrong, but all evidence points to a hardware fault.
What ROM do you all recommend for thorough testing in this situation should I encounter the same problems with a clean Android 4.3 stock install?
Are there any other possible fixes you all could recommend before I drop 70 bucks on repairs and my phone has to tolerate the iOS on-screen keyboard for 2 more weeks?
I've had this problem once, I even changed ROMs and it never went away. I changed my charger and it still did the same thing. I don't know what fixed it, but it just started working normally again.
What caused was that I was using it and my device got really hot because I was downloading things, browsing on the internet and playing games on it all while I was charging it. My phone got really hot and a little "CLICK" sounded off and my phone just shut off. It wouldn't turn on until I removed the battery. Cooled it and charged the battery overnight. Although my phone was working now my charger was crazy.

Today I ran my 360 out of power and it would not start charging again. It was tottally dead.
After several hours I noticed the charge lamp on the dock never lit up at all.
To kickstart the charger I held my Nexus 5 to it so it lit up and started charging my phone.
While charging I swapped fawst between the phone and my 360 and it started charging immideatly and continued charging up to booting and the kept charging back up to full.
it would probably work with another QI charger as well as it seems the problem is in the charger not being able to start charging from dead.
I've run mine completely dead several times and it always charges back up on its own.
I had the same issue and had already started a RMA at my online store where I bought it.
Thankfully I had ordered an universal Qi spare charger and when I got it the next day before I returned my original charger I tried it and the watch started to charge with the spare one.
Since then I never had any issues with both, the original and the spare charger.
Wired, but I think it’s more a problem of the watch itself and that it sometimes could happen that it does not properly recognize or handle the data to initiate the charging process.
In my case it worked with a (cheap) Universal Charger with probably locked charging values and in your case with your nexus phone to get the original charger to force charging the watch till it had enough power to handle the process itself.
That’s my idea; correct me if I'm wrong.
Hello all... I've just received the FIre Phone I ordered off Ebay (qualitycellz seller). The phone is supposedly brand-new in original box, but upon taking it out of the box and trying to turn it on it did not respond at all. I connected the charger, tried again, nothing...... had to leave it connected for around 5 minutes and tried again and this time the screen woke up to show me the ultra low battery indicator with a 0% charge level. I had to wait for it to charge for around 5 minutes to re-attempt turning it on. Fortunately it did turn on after that time.
My concern is that from what I know all cellphone manufacturers ship phones with at least 60% charge in order to keep the battery in good condition while on storage, so receiving the phone completely dead raises a concern on me that there might be damage to the battery. Could this be related to the long time Amazon had these units in storage since the phone launched?... I would expect that these phone might have been around a year in storage before Amazon decided to pull the plug.
This is the seller that Amazon unloaded all their remaining Fire Phone inventory to, so phones are new in box. I'm also concerned that the seal on the box was broken, even though the phone and packaging inside did not show signs of being used in any way. The phones are AT&T version but they include an unlocking code, so they should not need to open the box in any way since they generate the Unlock code based on the IMEI visible on the box label. One option is that they open the boxes to confirm that the phones are not DOA and then they forgot to turn it off after testing.
Should I be concerned about this?... I've not activated the phone yet and I've contacted the seller first to at least request their explanation and thoughts on this, and check if we should proceed with a return on this case. Your comments are appreciated.
Mine was exactly the same. Think about it, they've probably been sitting for a year. I've had no problems and charge seems to be just fine. (ATT Unlocked)

Thanks Wise... that helps. It makes sense to think about that due to the long time the poor phones were collecting dust on Amazon's shelves.
Did your box had the little plastic seal broken also?
I purchased from the same person I think and I just got my phone it as the same way. The battery life is still great

I think I had to cut mine, but it honestly looked untouched inside. I have had it for 3 weeks so far, no problems battery seems pretty good. After sideloading google services a few times, I have not had to reload it and am currently only experimenting different program launchers besides the default one. Haven't been able to settle on one yet. Good luck!
I got an AT&T one from qualitycellz about a week and half ago and my battery was also completely drained. Everything was sealed up nice and I haven't had an issue since.
Yeah my Fire Phone was fully discharged as well, freaked me out a little when I couldn't turn it on, even when I plugged it in. But after giving it a few minutes to charge it powered up just fine.

I guess we can conclude that all these phones were sitting on Amazon's shelves for a long time, so everyone that purchased their Fire Phone on the "Fire Sale" on Ebay can assume that the phone will come fully discharged and you'll need to plug it in for a few minutes before attempting to turn it on.
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR NEW BUYERS: The most confusing factor on this is that when you plug the phone to the charger for the first time the phone does not gives you any indication that it is charging, not even when pressing any button. That's what can be frustrating because you actually have to wait around 5 and press one of the buttons and then it will give you the charging screen. Keep that in mind before you throw your Fire out of the window.
Mine was same. I'm using Nova 3.x launcher, you can find this 'old' version online...the newer versions aren't as pretty..IMHO

I think I bought the phone through the same eBay auction that you all are discussing. However, when I plug in the phone and try and charge it... nothing happens. I've tried several cables, several chargers, and all for at least an hour - none seem to work.
If I long-press on the power button for about 8 seconds, I can get it to vibrate once, but then nothing happens.
If I plug it into a computer, press the power button for 8 seconds, it will start to vibrate about every second. I've never seen any other phone do this. It's only if it is plugged into a computer (mac).
Any thoughts?

Use the charger that came with the phone and let it sit charging in the off state for 15 minutes or so. Mine took a while before I could power it on the first time.

I bought my Sony Smartwatch 3 about two months ago. I've always updated the watch and now I'm on the latest build MWD49B.
I don't know precisely when the problem started, but for sure also before updating to the latest build it already showed it.
Basically if the watch is turned off it won't charge and it'll overheat a lot. I mean it maybe charges at an absurd rate, like from 60% to 100% in about 4 hours.
I tried changing charger (1A and 2A) and charging cable, but it doesn't change. It's like stuck in some way. The funny thing is that when it is stuck in this state if I turn it on (with the same chargers and cables) it starts charging fast (normal charging times) and funny enough it gets colder than when it's turned off charging (I mean slightly hot but colder than when it's stuck).
Do any of you has this problem?
Could it be a SW problem too or just HW? I haven't tried to reset it yet, but would rather lose time in resetting it and reinstalling all my stuff than losing time in the RMA process and waiting time to have it repaired, even because thinking of running without it makes me feel already mad!
I also have MWD49B and I'm charging my watch with (AFAIK) a charger which was bundled with Xperia PLAY docking station. Its output is around 500mA. Sometimes I was charging the watch with EP880 charger (output 1,5A) and I was charging it with BlitzWolf charger (output 2,4A). I've never had any problems with overheating and I pretty much never turn off my watch even when charging.
The problem is that some watches (especially the fresh ones from 2014 with glossy grey cap on microUSB port, not the full rubber ones like my watch have) might have faulty battery. If it overheats, charges 4 freaking hours... well it's REALLY long... my 500mA charger charges my watch up to one hour and I have no problems at all...
If you still have warranty, I'd suggest returning the watch, this overheating might be dangerous.

Just to be clear, if I charge the watch when it's ON, I don't have any problem and it is charged in less than one hour, the overheating problem and non-functional charging is present only when the watch is switched off and it is charging.

I have the same, "new" batch, with rubber cover on USB port.
I'm not sure if I missed some of your text from the original post or you edited it. I'm talking about switching the watch on so it does not overheat.
I've noticed my watch behaves exactly the same! If it's turned off and charging - it's hot like hell and not even fully charged after two hours and if turned on and charging - cold and fully charged after like... one hour.
Strange because on earlier Android Wear builds everything was ok.

But I didn't try charging it while it is running.
But when it's off, it only charges up to 75% and gets insanely hot. Then, when used it drains normally until around 50%. After that, the battery dies within 1-2h
I also never had any issue with the battery before the last update.

I've had this exact problem. One thing I discovered is the battery will stop charging when it reaches a certain temperature. Try placing a fan to blow directly on it while it's charging. This has worked for me.

Same problem here.
I've got the SW3 of 2015 vintage (it does have a cover over USB - I thought they all did?)
Since updating, if watch is off while charging it gets very hot, charges very slowly and never to 100%.
The solution is simple enough - charge it while OS is running.
If the watch is out of juice: Start charging, let it get enough to boot and then again allow it to complete charging with Android Wear running. Then charges normally (about an hour) and doesn't get hot.
My feeling is this is a software issue too. I'm running M1D63G.
Since we all know batteries don't appreciate getting cooked, I'm wary of leaving it charging for long when off, I'm betting it will cause battery damage eventually.
Conspiracy theorist's might even suggest it's Sony's way of ensuring our SW3 batteries die, so we're ready to update to the SW4 - I'm not that cynical.
Hello everyone, here's the matter don't know where to ask it so this thread is similar...
I have 2 Sony3 watches, one with screen partially broken and the second I got it secondhand with a charging base made by the previous owner.
The watch that came with the charge base it always has the charge icon on screen even if it's not charging, sometimes if i reboot it dissapears but most of times it STAY :/
if i turn off watch vibrates and start "charging" all alone without connecting it so i don't know what to do with that cause it obv drains battery and its never really off...
Second thing, my old watch with broken screen worked well since i plug it into that base.... then is doing the same as the other watch, charging forever without charger seems like the base charge illness has affected my old watch too... XD
So pleaaase anybody know something about this? i've restarted them several times and with pcCompanion and the icon remains maybe a custom rom will solve or is hardware issue?
I am using may sony smart watch 3 for long time and i kept it for some month after then i carry it and begin to charge it but it will only show sony and then will not proceed i kept it again after i carry it i plug the charger and it only vibrate
This watch needs to be recalled or have an emergency firmware update. My smartwatch 3 overheated while plugged in overnight and melted apart. Thankfully it was on a metal computer case and not some paperwork. This annoyance has become a real safety issue. It's a shame because I loved this watch otherwise.
Just a general FYI to all of you, use a USB Port or a charger that charges slow and always turn it on when you charge it.
Our watch is really different compared to anything nowadays. It shouldn't but still charges faster than it (should) be allowed.

I've been having all kinds of trouble getting my tablet to charge. It's acting really weird. Over the last couple of days, I will turn the tablet on and it will say 80% charged (after being plugged in all night). Then, with it still plugged in, it will drain down to 15% in about 30 minutes. Why would it drain so fast (if at all?) when it's plugged in? It's also been taking hours for it to charge once it hits that 15% and I don't use it.
At first, I discovered my charging cable was to blame. I'd plug it in, but the tablet wouldn't detect it was connected unless I pulled on the wires just right for them to make contact. Apparently there was a broken wire inside the plug of the cable. So I replaced it with a new cable. Everything seemed to be working good then, and was actually getting proper charges again. Now though, it doesn't seem to want to work.
I was using the tablet yesterday to check my email. It had been plugged in all day and not being used. It said it was at 100%. After about 10 minutes though, the tablet shut off saying "battery low". When I try to turn it back on, I get the battery indicator showing it's at 0%. So I left it plugged in the rest of the day and over night. I just went to turn it on about an hour ago, and it's still sitting at 0%!
I thought maybe the cable was bad again, so I found another charger and tried that. It does the same thing the other cable does.. It stays off until I plug in the cable. Then, as soon as it's in, the tablet "wakes up" and displays the battery indicator. Like, it detects a power source has been plugged in. But no matter what I do, and how long I keep it plugged in, it stays at 0%. I can force the tablet to turn on by holding the power button. It goes through the boot animation prior to loading the screen. Then, in about 5 seconds, it turns itself off again.
I don't think the battery is truly at 0%. If it were, how would it be able to boot up without even a cable plugged in? I really don't know what to do now. I've rooted it, so I can't send it in to Samsung for repair. I don't even think the warranty would still be good at this point anyway. The tablet is at least 3 years old (based on when I joined this site looking for root help). And I think it was 2-3 years older than that before I bought it. Is there anything I can do?
I can't wait anymore. So frustrating to own something that's worked great then all of a sudden decide to no want to even power on anymore. I've spent all day trying to get it to charge with other cables. I've tried chargers, I've tried just straight cables. Plugging into the wall, plugging into the computer, plugging into the USB port in the car. Nothing works. So I hopped over to Amazon to just order a new tablet. I can afford it, not big deal there. But then I saw a ribbon cable used to replace the USB port on the tablet. Maybe the port is bad? Lots of "highly recommended" reviews. I went ahead and ordered one. It was less than $7. If it doesn't work, I still have the money to go forward with buying a new tablet. If it does, money saved! I went ahead and bought the "customers also buy" kit, with a replacement battery (just in case it's not the port), and a set of tools. If the cable is all I need, I'll have a spare battery. If the battery is all I need, I'll have a spare ribbon. If it still doesn't work, I'll go back to my original plan.
Just kinda bummed this is where I have to go now. Why would it suddenly just stop altogether like that? Is it because I keep it plugged in 95% of the time? Should I keep it unplugged till it's drained then charge it and unplug it again right away? I used to have to do that with an old cell phone. This is my first tablet so I dunno. If I end up needing to replace the whole thing, it'd be nice to know from experienced users what the best way to do it is, and what, if anything, I can do to prevent it happening again.
I'd suspect the battery is kaput.
It's not a good idea to keep the battery on permanent charge, there's no need. Let it cycle normally.
Well, all told this was an educating experience. I got the battery first. It came about 40% charged. Once it was installed I used TWRP to create a system backup and downloaded it to my computer. Then I left it plugged in overnight. The next day it was down to 30%. So the "charging" indicator on the screen was just a bunch of lies. I got the replacement charging port a day later and installed it. I didn't do anything else with the tablet, just left it turned off and the charging cable plugged in. It said it was charging, but again, after about 12 hours of charging overnight, the following morning it was down to 18%. So I'm returning both the battery and the port. They may still be working fine, and the problem is elsewhere in the tablet. I accidentally broke the little metal connectors over the power button (it's a contact sensor, and the connectors sit on top and complete the circuit when the button is pressed) when I took the back off to replace the parts. I also cracked my screen, although I think it's just the protector I put on it. I'm not sure what else to try at this point. The tablet is essentially a paperweight now. I can turn it on and watch the battery slowly drain to 0%, but I'll never get any more use out of it. So I decided to do a system wipe prior to putting it away for some future project to try and rescue it. Now it's stuck with the "Teamwin" screen flashing at me. I give up. I looked at Amazon to see if I could just buy another one, but they don't have any "new" left. They're all refurbished or "slightly used" from 3rd parties. I looked at other tablets, and bought a new Samsung Galaxy Tab S5E. It looks like it has the best reviews and marks. The only issue would be the wifi, but it seems to be a hit or miss with people. Some people say it's a problem, others say they don't even have a problem. So.. <shrug> I'll see how it works for me.
