If it's SuperSU, there should be an option to unroot on the settings.:good:

[Q] Upgrading to ZVC From ZVA Rooted

Hello,
I have a G2 Running Stock LS980ZVA Kernel Version 3.4.0. Now I rooted the stock ROM and now got a notification to update the ROM to ZVC.
Now my dilemma is do I "Restart and Install" this update or not. Will this brick my phone?
I have TWRP running as the custom recovery. What should I be doing? I tried to search for a similar thread but couldn't find one.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you!
You will brick. Either hold your finger on the notification and then click app data. Click on the show notification. No check mark. Notification will go away.
Regular reboot will not install the update.
If you unroot and put regular recovery back. Then you could.

I had the OTA downloaded but when i tried installing it, it did not install completely. Phone restarted and is still on 4.2.2 . Everything works as normal though, as I have been prompted 3 times to install the update.

okay, i did some research and found that it is safe to install OTAs but if youre rooted youll lose the root and unlock will still stay.
best imo, is you upgrade to 4.4.2 and root again with custom recovery and install a nice ROM.

[Q] New to rooting, possibly bricked my phone

Hi,
I used the all-in-one tool kit to root my M8. I was following the steps involved and was successful. I tried to install the xposed framework and was told to flash a custom kernel. After doing so my phone will only boot into the fastboot menu, with the "tampered" warning at the top. I can get into the recovery through hboot. Is my phone ruined and if not how can I get this fixed?
Sorry if this has been asked before but I am quite nervous that I ruined my phone. Any help would be much appreciated.
Just restore a back up through recovery or if you don't have one then sideload a rom with that toolkit you used.

what mod were you trying to install from xposed that required a custom kernel? I have it on mine and was never prompted for that!

I think that should work, is there a way to sideload the factory version of the m8?

There are stock roms you can sideload, or find the RUU for your device and return back to 100% stock.
thanks

[Q]root & OTA?

hi guys
recently I got the V20a(4.4) updete
and my phone are rooted only, should I unroot first or just update without unroot?
I'm wondering if update with a rooted device will break my phone
You can‘t update stock rom from lg to a rooted divice, unroot first
I update from rooted phone via mobile support tool. Unroot via supersu and then use mobile support tool and update! Via mobile or pc suite it gonna not work.

It depend on which KK version you are using. You should use towelroot (v20A) or adb sideload (v20B), please read more at http://forum.xda-developers.com/optimus-g-intl/help/how-to-root-lg-optimus-g-e975-kitkat4-4-t2834981

I used Framaroot to unroot after failing with the other root/unroot options. Then I updated via computer using "mobile support tool". OTA update did not work for me!
And have been using 4.4.2 (V20a EUR OPEN) without bugs (that I am aware of ) for about a week now.

I had problem using the mobile support tool, turned out it did not work on usb 3.0 ports, switched to a 2.0 port and then it worked, so if anyone still cant update with the supporttool then try to hardreset your phone and make sure to use a 2.0 usb port,

[Q] Root for Desire 816G Dual sim?

I have HTC Desire 816G Dual sim which is the Mediatek variant.
Is there any tutorial to root this phone? Also is it possible to root without unlocking the bootloader? If not, can I root & relock the bootloader & get my warranty back?
Follow this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2775801
Also if you go ahead and remove root, and relock your bootloader your still in warranty, because HTC doesn't count an unlocked bootloader as voiding warranty.
^^ Thanks. But that is for 816 & not 816g. Both have different hardware.

Did you even try the root method for the 816? Should work.
Your only issue might be the recovery. Don't know exactly how similar these devices are.
The devices are entirely different. One is Qualcomm SOC and another is Mediatek. So rooting will be entirely different.
UPDATE: I was able to acquire root using iRoot application. Then installed SuperSU to remove the Chinese root app. No need to unlock bootloader or install custom recovery.

iRoot should work. Make sure USB debugging is on & that you have disabled any anti-virus on your phone because the antivirus thinks that the installed apps are malware. Uninstall all the three apps after you install SuperSU.

I have done exactly that but still it fails, it surely installs some kinda Chinese apps but only 2 not three and it shows that root has failed and I also checked it on Root checker but it also doesn't shows that the phone is rooted, I tried the exact procedure on a Samsung device and it worked like a charm. This iroot software automatically installed a Kinguser apk on it but I don't know why it is not working for this HTC desire 816G. Pls help me! I desperately need it. What version of iroot did you use? I am using version 1.7.9.2 and thanks for replying.
Rooted sucessful with iroot thank u meburhan007

Thank god I was somehow able to acquire root but can you tell me how did you get rid of this Chinese app , I installed Superuser apk but I don't know how to update binary and it says its recommended to install binary via recovery on HTC devices and I don't have installed recovery on top.
Can someone provide stock boot.img and recovery.img or update.zip
pls can someone upload these files from their 816g. my device is stucked on htc logo. need either the img files to flash cwm recovery or update.zip will also do as this has happened due to i cleared cache and data for all user and system data by titanium backup

[Q] Help with rooting phone

I have an LG G3 on T-Mobile, running android 4.4.2 and my software version is D85110r. I downloaded and installed Stump Root and when I load the app it says "Device is already Rooted". Then I remember I had previously rooted the phone last summer when I got it. But I'm having issues with several apps not working because of root permission. So then I download and install SuperSU and when I run it, it gives me the message, "There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it." It then says something about if you have android 4.3 you need to re-root your phone. How do I proceed? Do I need to un-root my phone and then re-root? Thanks for any help you can provide!
Anyone?
same here. I am not on 4.3 but still getting the same message. Fix?

You've flashed other root tools like Stump, etc.. right? It probably left some files behind after unrooting.. Factory reset and try that root tool again.. I've always used it and rooting was a breeze!:fingers-crossed::good: If you have updated to the latest firmware then maybe rooting isn't possible at the moment. Try downgrading to the previous version you had after you've factory resetted and used that root tool.. Good luck mate!
