Root? Advice...

Hi all...I usually always root my devices if possible and enjoy customs roms in the 3 or 4 android devices I've had....I bought the nexus 7 and I updated to 4.4.2.its turbo fast and great battery life...What am I gaining by rooting with this. ..? Just wondering If someone has input.Thank you.

Rooting generally is very useful for installing system type apps like ad blockers, file managers and stuff like Greenify. Also some custom roms give you the ability to govern processor speed to throttle back when you are not using the device and therefore further extend the battery usage between charges. Hopefully my vague answer was of some use?

It depends on what you want out of your device, there is nothing wrong with being happy with the stock device, unrooted, but for me, I rooted it for, Titanium backup, stickmount, xposed+gravitybox, francos kernel, multirom...and more, I work in IT and there are tools which help me make my job easier, and my clients networks more secure, which I can charge for!
Thanks weezle...very useful indeed.what is stick box and multi rom m?

Can't switch to ART

Telus HTC one m8, unlocked bootloader, stock ROM, elementalX kernel (tried stock recovery and philzs recovery)
Can't seem to enable ART runtime... I don't know If stock kernel or recovery matters but when I try enabling it the phone reboots like normal and in settings it still says dalvik.
Any ideas?
If you have Xposed installed art will not work.
Oh really? I did not know that... That's too bad...
Thanks for the quick reply!

I'm using ART now. It works fine for me and improves battery life as well as performance. Programs that don't work, I just uninstall and find an alternative that works. None of my essential or favourite programs are affected by it and work fine with ART. A few games don't work but they aren't important enough for me to keep. If any essential program didn't work I would revert back but so far all my essential programs are working fine, surprisingly.

Maybe you try a deodexed rom.You can enable it form developer settings.Remember installing xposed will return you to dalvik.wait for @rovo89 to make an art version of xposed.

Best Custom ROM OS??????

I've tried Cyanogenmod and Paranoid OS, so far. But both of them using the Google OS (so they have lotta bugs). Is there any fully customized Android 5.1.1 OS available with best interface in Android history with likely to be having less bugs???.

Good luck with that.
Even Google hands out android with known bugs. No amount of work on the hobby developer side will fix that.
You will never find a bug free version of Android. At all. Stop dreaming.

Step A. Find a forum for your device.
Step B. Read.
Step C. Don't post in a random forum asking a random question that has nothing to do with said forum.
Step D. Don't PM people asking this crap.

I see.
As far I know does all custom Roms have stock camera app.
To try stock again, you need the appropriate update.app voor your specific model. I think for L29 it will take some time before its available.

Not with my mate 8 NTX-AL10.
So, I think it's hardware related as well and I'm one of the lucky.
I have to admit that my camera is excellent from the beginning. In my opinion anyway.

It's not in my eyes only ?.
It makes excellent foto's and video's too.
And for the low light problem, I just checked and was amazed again. I could barely see something and even without flash it was a very good and clear photo. ?
