Looks to have good ground clearance for the vents. Cable hang could cause a wheelie. SPDIF or A/V jack? Looking forward to reviews on the S912 devices.

I see after a closer look. Thanks for the YT.

Received this today, nothing on screen when plugged in, with multiple cables, on all inputs into working outlets. Remote doesn't do anything. What am I doing wrong?

I don't have one of these, but some general things to check. Any LEDs on? Do you have a way to check the power supply/power adapter?

Nope, no LEDs showing on box. Don't know how to test power adapter.

If you know someone with a multi-meter or other voltage tester, perhaps they could check it for you. If you want to try it yourself, it is a simple test and many cheap multi-meters are readily available for $7-$10(USD). Power adapters are relatively common fail point on these types of devices.
You could also find a substitute power adapter, but it is very important that the substitute matches the original. This information can be found on the power adapter....
-Volts DC=Volts DC(Must match exactly)
-Amps=Or greater
-Tip Polarity(Must match exactly) ie Tip positive or Tip negative, usually indicated by symbols like these...
-Connector size and type must match(fit)

So are the Nexbox A1, Yundoo Y2, Vensmile A1 all made by the same company, Shenzhen Visson Technology Co? Looks like they are the ODM for quite a few others as well.
It may help with potential firmware development.

Bought this box, and it is problems with Tvheadend and Amlogic S912 in Kodi. It will not use HW acceleration in HD Live TV. ?

Would anyone know where I can get un-rooted firmware for this box?

Just unroot the firmware? I need to do this as well, but havn't tried yet.

This Piece of Metal is above the CPU and could be utilised for a bit of cooling
That's one small PCB
No sticky pads just pop out Silicon type
Now for a bit of a fiddle
More to Come
Basic Test for Now
Bit of testing to see how things perform
Takes about 1 minute to boot from a cold start.
Remote performs fair with this device.
Now Using the Logitech K400r.
All setup easy. no problems found
1/8Gb not a snappy unit remembering the spec's and the price.
AnTuTU v 5.7 showing a score of just under 21,000
Ethernet connection OK WiFi tested Ok
Netflix in and tested Ok for this device
Plex a few Movies, TV shows Ok after uninstall and reinstall.
Not a beast, I feel you can make it do most things.
Yet to be tested
First firmware update is ready. Two ways to get it:
1. Install this APP for OTA service: http://www.inphic.com/download/download/5-spot-i5-ota-app
Just download the APP from the TV Box browser, install and open. Your SPOT i5 will detect the latest version of firmware and upgrade.
2. Download firmware file: https://mega.nz/#!zIljUBzL!wfBnfuOIbOOXv7NM2CLdNE_bC9ypKcIX1BBTfMPWUPg
Upgrade by using Amlogic burning tools
Firmwares under 20151113 does not support OTA, then, this APP is required. After install this version OTA will be there.
Latest firmware has root
Update Firmware with root
Attempt with the APP for OTA.
For me it dropped me to recovery and could not do much from there.
Hmm unsure what happened there.
On to the next option
Option 2 worked, downloaded burning tool from here http://chinagadgetsreviews.com/downl...-v2-0-4-3.html
Followed Instructions (pity cant see the reset button luckily I drilled it earlier) about 5 minutes to install new firmware.
i5 will sit at a loading screen while new firmware sets its self up. takes awhile so don't Panic.
Get greeted with new system to reset up, all apps wiped best to start fresh no junk in the trunk.
Remote works through complete process.
Version Now show KOT49H.20151113test-keys
I enlarged it as I prefer to use a tooth pick, a paper clip would fit, the idea sticking bits of metal in bothers me
Installed SU and Busybox looking good.
Ethernet cable
The Ethernet socket on the back and slightly under the dome can be a pain when removing the cable. One of these can help and makes things so much easier
This is probably the coming Inphic's launcher. Designed for TV Box:

[New] Inphic SPOT i7 S905 Media Player 1/8 GB

Good Looking Packaging, and a few extra bits to add.
As this unit has only 2 USB ports they have also included a mini USB hub,
Also included Video Cable for RCA connections
Au Power supply, thank you no more adapters that has to be good
A easy to read Manual if its ever needed.
Good looking HDMI cable and remote

Inpic i7 update
UPDATE
A well presented device.
With the few extra bits supplied to make up lack of USB ports
A flashy looking programmable remote that has a few already preprogrammed features
Select Vod button up comes You tube, Select TV and Kodi runs
TV-SYS brings up HDMI resolution settings and Setup straight to lollipop settings.
Red Standby and Blue power on LED on the front, and remote works as you would hope to control Media Player.
All can be easily altered to suit your individual needs
4 to 5 meters line of site seems achievable.
The Inphic Spot i7 does have root.
Being a 1/8 gb units can struggle a little when pushed
Running a few bench mark test it was noticed.
This is Inphics first release of Lollipop 5.1 so a few quirks yet to be sorted.
First turn and setup Google and update no problems,
Found Twitter, Skye, Facebook, Currents not big space takers removed.
Plex, Netflix, Hulu, Chrome, Mxplayer and few other Google apps
My unit can run HOT seen the temp get over 100c with certain benchmark test.
Vellemo and Antutu you could see it trying and struggled just a little.
Kodi struggled a little showing 2 CPU one at 100% then the some Skipping noted.
Wifi speed is OK compared to others I use with the same setup/location
Updating apps/downloading from Google over wifi speed was good.
As this is the first of the Lollipop from Inphic there will be a few things to sort out.
The Guys at inphic appear to be having a go with products so we can hope for some good support.
I was hopping for a new Rom or update by now but with Holidays in China just finished can take a bit to get back into action
too much party time...
Overall a pretty good Unit a few updates needed and should be a handy streaming device for your collection
More as it comes

[New & Rejuvenated]MK808B PRO S905 & MXQ PRO S905

:good:My review of the MK808B PRO S905 & MXQ PRO S905 Dongle
This little horror of a stick has grown today to be called a dongle.
As I am impressed with the Excellent Rom created over at Freaktab
A creative mod as you do, has kicked this thing into place nicely I feel.
So what we have is
MK808B Pro is a smart Android stick
MK808B Pro TV dongle, comes with 4K H.265/HEVC hardware decoding Amlogic S905 Cortex A53 Processor 2.0GHz
Penta-Core Mali-450 GPU
Google Android 5.1 OS
DDR3 1GB RAM + 8GB ROM
Bluetooth 4.0
Support Miracast/DLNA
Support H.265 hardware decoding, Support 4K
So what we have is this a few basic pictures etc.

And the good thing supplied with an AU power adapter Woo Hoo
Performance in its original state is pretty poor.
Gets very hot due to lack of heat sink only a piece of stick tin is supplied
And the Rom is a mess.
Wifi it's there fair i guess.
A bit of a creative hardware MOD and Excellent software it lives
Still some minor work to be done with the Rom as always,
This is the first public release rc1.5
The Unit itself is still being fitted to the casing
Thought i would give you all a first few hours look at what's going on
So the Mod is done just a small section cut in the grill to fit the heatsink
and things will be back together.
Some test so far
Rom also has been modified to handle USB to Ethernet Adapters
This device will be not an intense gaming device
Some simple, family fun type of games should do fine.
I have done a few test with Kodi 4k demo's so play smooth here.
Installed is Kodi 16.1
So that's it for Now
More testing to come and you will find more information over at Freaktab
Please help and support all Devs that do this great work on Roms.
If you ever find a Rom that is useful on XDA or Freaktab anywhere let the dev know you like there work and help where you can.
Thanks To Geekbuying and DHL for Excellent fast (3 days to au)
Cheers
New & Rejuvenated]MK808B PRO S905 & MXQ PRO S905
As the Under side of the PCB also Generates a fair amount of heat will also add some thermal pad and copper on the under just to help keep things a little cooler hopefully, all has to help.
Bit of a fiddle this day, raining outside time to do some refitting
I have left the wifi antenna out to wave in a breeze with a creative hole.
You can see on the Picture above, next to the TF card slot a notch in the PCB the Antenna Cable is folded thru, easy.
Bit of cutting and the Wife's nail file to smooth it out, and well its all good
A little rough but it's not a beauty contest.

A95X pro Amlogic 905Y2 4gb DDR4 + 32GB Ram Dual WiFi BT

Today we can get the chance to have a look at the A95X Plus Amlogic 905Y2 4gb DDR4 + 32GB Ram Dual WiFi BT
Let's get looking:
Box

}
What's in the Box: Very thin,
Ports, That's it no more.
Pop the base : Note heat sink slightly raised
Casing
Remove PCB
CPU Side
Other side: Not a lot here at all
Found Heat sink being raised by another component, removed and relocated back a little
As seem small PCB not bad looking,
Running 32bit Android 8.1 and must say its performing well:
A95X PLUS TV Box 4/32GB Amlogic S905 Y2 A8.1 Dual WiFi, BT4, DDR4
Start up very easy easy, with wizard
Wifi excellent on 5g and easy setup, Google login.
Update apps and installed testers etc all good.
Surprised to see upper and lower Bars and has a root switch
Bit more imagination with the launcher would be a nice change.
Bit of Junk in the Trunk, some may like.
Looks like Kodi/TVMC 17.6
DRM is Level 3, no HD Netflix 480 only
Remote working pretty good,
Temps also pretty cool if accurate.
No many ports, a USB Hub can take care of that
No Ethernet will upset some ,however I am finding WiFi is pretty good.
So far so good I guess pretty zippy
Lets look at some more:
Start up Wizard, UI and Installed apps etc
Push Menu Button a few time you get into the Self Test
DRM L3
Ram and Storage Truth
Antutu
CPU-Z .gif
Geekbench CPU: > http://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/10723794
Geekbench Compute:
Aida64 .gif
Sd Card test
3DMARK
Give this a run, not expecting anything wonderful,
Just a bit of a IDEA like most bench test and scores.
Should do Ok for, for the less demanding Apps and Games.
YT with Current install version Playing 1080p max
Prime Video working 480p at a guess looks ok
As also Netflix 480p watchable on Under 40 inch TV easy.
I mentioned WiFi was good and connection 866 to router
More or Advanced settings, forgot to mention.
OTA updates.
Settings of Video yet to suss this one out
Installed the Microsoft Launcher was ok Remote got lost a bit.
Also Installed a BT remote, Mi Box, worked well no Talk option in this Rom
Would be great to see Devs get into this one,
Optimize it to the Hilt,
With pretty good Ram(DDR4), lots of it 4/32, Great Wifi, and can keeps its Cool with no vents.
Could be the next BIG little thing, for under $50
A95X plus 4/32
I have this box and I'm satisfied. IR remote is only bed side. Work only for distance of 2-3 meters. When remove plastic cover from box, then worked good. I planing to extend IR diodes with wires from board to outside. I think that's is good solution.

Important Bit found in the Box:

I have a few similar to this little beasty beast, they do the job pretty well,
Work well with Win10 and should be OK to upgrade to win11 will test and show more soon.

Look at the Inside base Removed:
2 x 16gb Crucial DDR4 3200, Kingston 500g M2:
Space for a SSD up to 1TB and room for another M2:
MediaTek MT7921 Wi-Fi 6 Module:
A closer look:
Down the rabbit warren we go,
Power up lets see what happens.
Does have Windows 11 bonus and the Pro version.
Go thru the OOBE agreeing and disagreeing with MS$ lets see how this works out.
Win11 Pro great to see. Now to uninstall bloat and what we don't need and clean it up a little
Customising and removal of some apps:
I don't like the new Widgets thing waste of screen space
For those stuck in the past, Windows 3.1 was 30years old a day or so ago
Win11 is good,
Like always things new, things move to new location cant find this or that.
And of course compatibility with Older software DOS or WIN7 etc, usually a work around someplace, sometimes we hope.
Lets have a look see:
