Question regarding ROOT and ROMs on old Galaxy Tab 3 - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I'm new here and I'll go straight to my issue. A couple of days ago, I was gifted an old used galaxy tab 3 (3G and Wifi, 7 inch, SM-T211). The thing is, I did a factory reset from the OS BEFORE noticing it was already rooted and should've done it from the TWRP. What's more, it strangely left lots of data after it (super su is still installed, it left photos and accounts remembered). So, question #1: Is it safe to do a factory reset now, even after I incorrectly did it from the os. (btw, check root says the root is still ok) Then, my other question is regarding the OS version. It currently has 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and while it tecnically supports 4.4.2 KitKat oficially, the official repository from Samsung doesn't have a version for my tab's region (T211ZSANB1, Hong Kong and China). Question #2: Is it safe to install a 4.4.2 oficial rom for a different region (i assume not due to the differents 3G frequencies used, but still wanted to ask). Finally, while I looked up and down in the forum and the only rom I've found for my specific device (a CM11 kitkat build) has a non functional camera. Question #3: does anyone know if there isany fully functional build on the site and, if the is not, is it safe carry both a stock and a cm rom and switching between them on a regular basis?
Thanks in advance to everyone

[Q] No "users" settings menu?

Hi. I'm not very well versed in Android. I got a Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 for free as a promo from my bank a year or so ago. I've always been frustrated that there was no multi-user support. A year ago I tried correcting that by upgrading to 4.2.2 which required rooting because there was no official upgrade at the time. I thought that would fix it, but it didn't. I recently revisited my problem and found a guide suggesting to install Xposed Installer's Multi Users module and I did that but the module again tells me to simply go to Settings->Users (if that setting were there, I'm not sure why you need the Xposed thing, but anyway). It still isn't there.
I don't know if its because I have a bank promo model or what, but I don't have the option and all the guides seem to suggest 4.2+ simply DOES have it. Well mine doesn't.
Is this something that a custom ROM would fix? If so, is there a Absolute Moron's Guide to Custom ROMs out there for this device?
Thanks for any insight.
Edit: I guess some specs might be useful, as I see there are different model numbers associated with "Tab 3 7.0". The model number is SM-T210R. Android version 4.2.2 (rooted). Kernel is 3.4.5-blackhawk+
Nevermind.
For some reason my unit wasn't receiving the 4.4 update. I manually updated to 4.4 and I now have the Users menu.

Confirming lack of ability to upgrade past 4.2.2 on Tab 3 Lite (SM-T110/SM-T111)

Hi all,
Just rooted my device for the first time today using TWRP and flashing SuperSU. I was hoping it was going to give me the ability to upgrade my device to a stock android version of Lollipop. As I'm looking around it seems like that is not supported by the community. I have used the search bar and haven't come up with much, except a few old threads when Lollipop was just released.
I found this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2755532 that suggests nobody has modded it past it's final android update 4.2.2. The only difference it seems is it gets rid of some of the uninstallable Samsung and Google apps.
I just wanted to confirm that there is no development going on past 4.2.2 for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite (SM-T110) before I flash a new ROM from the list.
Thanks.
bump
I would also like to know, I bought the tablet today for my son, but never checked about the android version, and now i can't update the kids mode on it,so being to get it to update would be brilliant, if not i'll have to take it back and exchange it for one that has a newer version.
Maybe in the future:

Multiboot multiple OS on Note 8 after January update that changes bootloader

Max Weinbach posted on https://www.xda-developers.com/samsung-galaxy-s8-note8-bootloader-odin/ that Samsung 8/8+/Note 8 January update come with a new bootloader that
1) can not downgrade your phone after installing this
2) block Prince Comsy’s modded Odin.
Max wrote one consequence is: "Note8 owners with the carrier Note8 devices cannot flash the US unlocked firmware. If you try to flash the carrier unlocked firmware on carrier phone, it will hard brick your phone". But later make this correction as an EDIT: After being tested by XDA Senior member me2151, it turns out cross region flashing does work. Prince Comsy Odin is working, but we can not test if the factory binary flashing will hard brick your phone. So flashing US unlocked onto a US carrier device should work.
I will like to buy a Note 8 and what I want to do is have 2 (or more) ROM (OS) and be able to multi boot. I have 4 questions regarding this. With the January update can I use multi boot ROM (MultiROM, DualBootPatcher, or any other) on:
1) The Unlock International Version (install the T-mobile ROM and other ROMs)?
2) The Unlock US Version (install the T-mobile ROM and other ROMs)?
3) The T-Mobile (Snapdragon) version (Install US unlock version ROM and other ROMs)? As far said here: https://www.androidauthority.com/samsung-galaxy-note-8-update-805328/ the T-mobile Janaury update is not out yet for T-Mobile, so a T-Moile Note 8 is not supposed to be affected by it.
The 4th questions is: Lets said I have T-Mobile Note 8, Im succesfull installing a multi boot, I have 3 ROMs simulstaniously. ROM 1 is the T-Mobile ROM that came with the phone, ROM 2 is Unlock US Note 8 ROM and ROM 3 FireFox OS. Everything work fine. Then After that, came out the “January” update for T-Mobile and I installed (because I need to be protected by the vulnerabities if fix). But the update change the bootloader. The question is> Will I be able to multi boot the 3 ROMs, like was doing before instaling the update? Or the 2 non carrier ROMs will be affected by the boot loader change made by the update, and the T-mobile phone will only able to boot to the original T-Mobile ROM that came with the phone? Or when the update change the boot loader will mess (probably brick) the whoe phone not letting me to boot what ever ROM it have (the T-Mobile and and the other 2 ROMs)

I'm sorry not meaning to sound rude but I almost fell asleep midway through reading your post... 1st of all from what I gathered your buying a international note 8? And then want to flash multiboot which I personally only used when running touchwiz Rom and say a ASOP Rom if you will... but you need to keep in mind that your not gonna find too many roms over here on the snapdragon devices. I will tell you if you want to utilize multiboot then don't buy a Samsung. I used multiboot on my LGv20 having stock rooted as my daily and Lineage as my 2nd.

I was told that Snapdragon Note 8 (US unlock and US carrier) does not have unlocked boot loader, therefore is impossible to multiboot.
The question is if the Exynos model could be used to multiboot?
The #1 reason I decided against the international model was issues with Carrier Aggregation I even asked the question in this forum and the international forum about if any fix had been found...I just wasn't willing to shell out that kind of money and not have the phone work properly switching between towers. I went with a US unlocked version...should be here Thursday.
in regards to multi-boot...I believe that would be processor dependent (someone please correct me if I am wrong.) and thus you would need to inquire in the international forum if there is a multi-boot for the exynos chipsets.

Has anyone done a stability/basic functionality comparison of ROMs ?

I have been hanging around XDA for past 1 week or so, and have spent numerous hours in understanding Android/rooting/ROMs etc. As a software engineer, i had the basic background, to catch up on Android platform, which is new to me. Having covered everything here from "Intro to XDA/beginners" to Phone specific details, here is some questions, as i tread carefully into Android tinkering.
I have held onto an aging Tmobile S4, trying to avoid buying a new phone. Still running stock m919uvsfqa1 baseband (OTA early 2017). This was ok, since I do not play games / stream video / run social media apps etc. After 4 years of running acceptably, this phone started misbehaving in 2017. No hardware or software changes other than the factory reset to wipe data/cache (in last few days). Restored all apps/data, using Samsung smartswitch (I will write a guide on this later, as a thank you & give back, to XDA community). Phone seems to be revived after this factor reset/restore. I have 3 questions :
If i am only interested in stability / integrity / functionality in phone, should i stick to stock kitkat 4.4.4 (OR) should i risk it and upgrade to Oreo based LineageOS 15.1 (which i found on xda as End-of-Life) ?? (OR) any other custom rom recommendations (like marshmallow SlimRom) ? In my limited knowledge in reading various threads on XDA, i find only these two roms mentioned for stability.
In any case, i am considering rooting with CF-Auto-root, to get SuperSU and remove bloat/ads...... Perhaps i can install antivirus apps, since i won't be running the latest security patches available in Oreo (if i run older versions of custom ROM). Would you advise this for a Software engineer, who is newbie to Android ? (OR) simply play it safe and stick to the bloatware/stock ? (Note: I have already gone through guides on "what apps to install after rooting".)
CF-auto-root will stick to stock recovery. Is there any benefit for me in installing TWRP ?

Custom ROM for Samsung SM-T325?

I have a nice Samsung Tab Pro 8.4 (SM-T325), rooted w Towel Root, KNOX untripped. This device was stranded by Samsung at Android 4.4.1, though its hardware is faster than many more recent tablets. I've already successfully changed from the original ROM to the latest but still very dated UK ROM, and successfully re-rooted. I'd like to update the ROM (preferably to 8.0 or later), but have found little on this site or elsewhere about good options. As this tablet is also a PHONE, it's somewhat of a rare bird, and I'd really like to preserve all of its hardware functionality in an upgrade of the OS. Any suggestions, please? I've found no new tablets with equivalent features (closest being the Samsung Tab S4, which has great data features, but no phone). Thanks.
I don’t have a lead but I’m interested in the custom rom you mentioned. Would you have a file for that one? I can’t really find anything on ROMs around.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Google ResurrectionRemix 6 and SM-T325. It's there.
