P6 firmware upgrades? - Huawei Ascend P6, Mate

My P6 is on the "P6-UO6V100R001C00B635" firmware (EMUI2.3, Android 4.4.2) and drains the battery very quick. To add to that, I notice some performance issues, specially using Google Keyboard where the key "pop-up" when you click in a letter is really slow and when typing it gets in the way...
I'm in Portugal and my carrier is Vodafone.
The updater doesn't show any further updates, but in here (XDA) there is some threads regarding b708 and b709.
a) Does your phone act this way too?
b) In case I should update, how would I do that?
c) Could it possibly break something? Or have any problems with my carrier?
Thanks in advance

a) Yes, to some extent with the battery.
If you'd like to compare with my battery (or anyone else's) , we need to have as similar usage as possible. I usually keep the phone on 'Ultra battery' setting (see pic below) overnight & completely unused - if you can do the same, we can compare what percentage of battery has drained in say, 6-8 hours. Also, close all opened apps before setting Ultra battery.
b) In the same boat: also on B635 & would like to update, but see c)...
c) Yes, it could mess things up. Hence why I asked if it can be updated from B635 in the B709 forum thread (post #372 at present).
My phone is rooted, so I may need to do other steps as well before trying to manually update.

How exactly do you use your phone during the day? I usually listen to music, if not check WhatsApp or Messenger. When using the camera the battery goes down quickly too.

It's not my main phone any more.
That's why I suggested overnight when not in use.

Wakelock, better battery help

So I feel like since I rooted my phone and installed nova my batter drains more...and I'm really new to all this stuff and I don't understand what any of this means:

is this good or bad... It says it's awake 88% and only 12% deep sleep. If someone explains to me I'll be thank full

That's not normal. Whatever wakelock is keeping it awake is not captured in your WLD screenshot. Track it down in better battery stats instead, using "partial wakelocks"
Thank you...that's what I thought... I don't know what happened...so I went into partial wakelocks and everything looks like low %... But kernel wakelocks there was a lot of high percentages...
First thing that sticks out is drop box. It shouldnt be running for that long. Did you turn on auto backup? This will cause huge drains. If turned on turn it off. Also check in service running for 21 minutes... Turn off your gps. This is Google now constantly running and locating you to try and provide you with what it thinks is useful cards (weather, traffic, food in your area) I only then on my gps when I'm gonna use navigation. Otherwise all apps with gps access will start to run and kill your battery. Also I suggest greenify. It'll help a lot with things like Facebook, Twitter, Google search, ect. Wakelocks. Also removing or freezing bloatware helps tremendously with battery drain. And last carrier iq. Something that always runs in the background. Google search it or read up in the battery threads here on XDA. They talk about it a lot and how to try and stop it. Also this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2816353
although for the SGS5 it can be applied to our device as well
Sent from my LG-D850 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
also your font looks distorted, i would return the phone! ?

Battery Historian and Battery consumption discussion

(If you have any problem in upgrading to latest android wear 5.1.1 , please go to this thread .)
I have noticed people with android wear 5.1.1 started to discuss battery. However your battery curves of "android wear" or "wear battery status" app are just not that detailed for trouble shooting. Besides, it is not reasonable you wait for one day for a curve to be generated —— your know everyday is different, may be you take an extra exercise today. Good news is there is a lollipop tool called "Battery Historian" for analytic purpose. This works for android wear lollipop too.
If I was not wrong, there are previously some issue with SWR50 (I just recalled, may not that related to this topic). What I met is
①The compass app (Also DeveloperOpition-Manufacturer-Compass-Yaw) will become uncalibrated after sometime, if you rotate your watch, the angles only stay in like 170°~220°
②I remember a Youtube review saying SWR50 rotate-wakeup is not as sensitive as LGR is.
③Some app (e.g. autowear) cause SWR50 dramatical battery fall and accelerometer not responding
Guess there is something special of SWR50. At least ① still in 5.1.1 in my case.
Go to github thread to download "Battery Historian".
I was still using Historian 1.0 with python when writing this, but just noticed it has upgraded to 2.0 and supports Go just several days ago.
to start:
1. enable log in your watch: "adb shell dumpsys batterystats --enable full-wake-history"
2. reset timeline if you need: "adb shell dumpsys batterystats --reset"
3. After some time
4. Get report: "adb bugreport > bugreport.txt"
5. Generate html:
Follow the instruction to use GO.
Or if you are using python(2.7.9), then the command is "Python.exe historian.py -a bugreport.txt > out.html"
Reading the html may be difficult for new ones (for me too).
To understand the html, I suggest
1. find out where the battery drops most from curve
2. Check hardware like screen gps wifi etc on/off state,
3. Check frequency and Lenght an activity wakeup (There is also a summary blow)
Most of time it is the background wake up that eats your battery.
Yesterday night I put watch (90%+) but when I wake up in the morning it dropped to (30%-). I suddenly realized it may be a good example for here.
AS you can see the screen is always off, besides the percentages sums up only around 30%.
And here is a detailed graph:

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The result surprised me: it says "com.npi.wearbatterystats" waked up my watch a lot, but this app is "Wear Battery Stats".
I added a battery curve above the status but not ready to share the code (but you can see what is added in html code in my View attachment html.zip)
You are welcome to share your battery consumption with your folks and let us make our watches live longer every time. :cyclops:
Surprising to see wear battery stats causing the drain. I'll. Uninstal that and see how it goes
With battery historian you see easily know the state of your wifi and screen at any moment, and which activity waked up your screen etc.
My second record. it is 'wear battery stats' again, interesting though.

Battery drain extremely quick

Hello everyone,
I have noticed an absurd drop of the battery level when I'm using my device for usual applications such as Facebook, YouTube, etc...
When it's on 20% approx the battery reaches zero level in less than 10 minutes. This problem started when I have updated my device to the last firmware available (14.6.a.1.236)
I have re flashed the firmware 2 times via flashtool and the results are the same.
It could be an software or a hardware issue?
Thank you for your help :fingers-crossed:

Thank you very much!
My device has 13 months of use.
I use greenify in root mode, but don't have xposed.
I have used a calibration battery app and still have this problem.
May I use xposed in stock ROM without the risk of bricking my device?

Chances are it's a hardware issue and replacing your battery could fix it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/son...ttery-reporting-phone-dying-suddenly-t3095120
I had the issue where my battery would drop from >70% to 0% suddenly, and replacing my battery has fixed it completely.
Test disabling "Google Services", "Google Play" and "Get More" in accessibility settings. Also test disabling temporarly the Google Account "Search for threaths on the mobile" feature. I was having quite fast battery drain until I did this. It nearly takes twice as long time for each percent to go down. As for your sudden drop check if you got apps that could interfere. Apps that can modify the battery stats.
Btw I had same sudden drop of 5, 10 and even once 30% when screen was off. I thought it was the battery and it was like that for some months until I uninstalled official Facebook app. Now I dont know if the Facebook app was the reason or only reason but after that it has worked flawless for months and continues to.
I tried everything and the results are the same ?.
I think my battery is damaged. Right now my device is plugged to the charger. After 20 minutes of being connected, my device shows only 7%

Got it too last night. Ran guardians, still 10 percent drain over night (with sleep mode on). Was hoping the first update would habe some serious improvement for the overall terrible energy management.
Edit: exynos Europe
Same here...

No no, this is normal for Exynos, it's an issue with Wi-Fi deep sleep

Have the same issue. However the performance and battery life are better on the new update for me. The only issue is the battery drain with WiFi
So. The firmware on this is S22 rushed up.
Dont think I'll have a samsung after this mess.
Its a shame no android can run as long as an iphone in standby. Probably somebody is curious what we do and where we are all the time
Dont think there is anything wrong with the battery inside this phone.
1. Wifi wakelocks - connected or not (not deep sleep, like mentioned above)
2. Constant location from systemui/gms search every few minutes (huge drain)
Discovered this using appops-shizuku / battery historian / betterbatterystats.
Recently reset the phone to test there is nothing else from my side triggering this. Previous I tried to debloat. No dice
Wifi gps and AOD off, is the only usable way atm for me without root.
Remembering the days of android 5 in 2022
Anybody else figured out the second part? Which system app makes the gps requests.
My problem is LTE consumption in standby (Exynos)

Question Poco F3 Overheating

I have had my device for 8 months without issues. Just 5 days ago it started overheating out of nowhere. Temperature can rise from 31 to 47°C between just a minute when I'm on a call. This comes with a huge battery drain during these spikes. Similar thing happens when I'm downloading or doing any network intensive activity. I used to get 7-8hrs SOT now I can barely get 3hrs.
When I switch to Wifi I don't experience this temperature spike and battery drain when I'm downloading stuff.
The heat is at topmost part, around the camera areas.
I have full LTE connectivity
Any help?
I'm on stock and I don't have any apps apart those downloaded from the playstore.
That means you can't help in any way.
Thanks
Never heard of this before. Try setting network mode to lte only. Go to dialpad and enter *#*#4636#*#*. Select phone information 1. Then under "set preferred network type" select lte only. Hope this solves it.
You can also change the sim to slot 2 and see if the issue persists.

I've done exactly that but still. The attached image shows the power draw when making a call.
I think it's a problem with the modem although I'm not sure. WiFi connection however is totally different, it doesn't spike up temps and battery drainage.
I have the exactly same problem.
What do you think might be the problem?
i have same issue
U have few options
1.root ur phone to a different os other than miui.
2.buy a phone fan cooler.
3.buy and expensive phone like Samsung s22ultra or the likes that have no overheating complains .
4. Wait for 5 years because a specific company is making ssd cooling technology and will implement that in phones in the near future . Then buy these phones.
Frustrated android user indeed .
Thanks for your suggestions
i found out that gallery is making these battery dragining and overheating problems.
SOLUTION: FORCE STOP gallery if your are non rooted user like me and use google photos instead.
BTW: they didnt fixed it with miui 14
I got my F3 ten months, and never experienced this issue.
I would suggest trying the following steps.
1: Go to Developer options.
2: Scroll down to Apps heading
3: Check background Process Limit. By default Standard will be selected.
4: Change it to either Atmost 1 Process at a time OR 2 process at a time.
I cant guarantee that the steps above will solve your problem but it fixed mine.
Try it and let us know if that helped.
