There are many things you can do to get varying battery life results but for me one thing that seems to have the largest effect is what watch face you use. I have purchased many watch faces and made a lot of custom ones as well in the 16 days I've had this watch and I wanted to share with the rest of you the watch face that gives me absolutely stellar battery life. It's called stealth 360. Just search it in the play store. I think it cost a dollar but if you want really good battery life I suggest trying it out. I'm getting over 40 hours on my watch with the screen always on and having all the default settings enabled.
I'm not connected to the dev, nor am I paid to promote it but I am only sharing this info because I know some people have complained about battery life and I personally have had varying results with my watches battery depending on the face I use. Some faces I'll get 18-24 hours and others around 30 but stealth 360 is the only one I've used where I got over 40 hours of use on a single charge. YMMV
Another thing to consider is I'm currently using the 2.0 dev preview with the stock kernel so you may get different results depending on the ROM and kernel you are using and what settings you have. I also have gestures off and tilt to wake off and I'm not constantly playing with the watch because I mainly use it to check the time, temp, steps, and setting alarms and using the stopwatch. I also have my phone, text, email, and youtube connected.
how many watchfaces did you try and why would this one be better then the stock ones in black?

I've tried a lot of third party ones. I have bought 7 or 8 faces and tried a bunch of others. I'm not sure about the stock faces because I never used any of them because they are all ugly and boring. I switch around between the third party ones I like and the most battery life I had got on any of those was around 30 hours but I noticed when I used the stealth 360 face my battery was going for a lot longer so thought i'd share it here. Some stock ones may be as good or better, I never tried any.
Sounds really good, and will try that Stealth 360...
@imucarmen
What version of stealth360 are you using?
Only version I'm aware of is this one https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flyingrhinocmg.watchface_stealth360
Thanks for the tip!
I use Minimal&Elegant personally with an ultra minimal face. Works wonders for sure.

I bought Minimal&Elegant but could never get a face I was happy with so haven't used it too much. As far as custom makers go I really like Pujie and used it exclusively the first week I owned the watch but I started having some issues with it. I also bought WatchMaker but can't find a face I'm 100 percent happy with. I use FaceRepo and there is a lot of nice ones there but I always find things about them I don't like. The past few days I've been using this one and I'm finding it hard to use another because it basically does everything. Only bad thing about it is it's not friendly on the battery but it gets through a whole day so I'm happy.

wow seems like an all in one informational watchface, no wonder it drains the battery faster. It is a pitty that it is not free.

Yea it is. I ended up buying version 2 of that face as well which has a bit cleaner design. I need to stop buying watch faces though because most I never end up using more than a day pujie custom face maker is what I always keep going back to.
even before I had my Huawei Watch I was reading and browsing here and I read about pujie all the time. I got it my self now as well but I wonder what everyone loves about it so much that it is a killer smartwatch app?
It cool you can create your own smartfaces but so you can do with facer or watchmaker.

I haven't tried Facer, but Watchmaker was the first app I bought for my watch, and I've also tried a couple other custom face makers, but I like Pujie the most. Once you learn how it works it's a very powerful custom face maker. I found Watchmaker difficult to learn and not very user friendly as far as building custom faces. Watchmaker has a lot of nice pre-made faces you can download on FaceRepo but none of them ever have the complete experience I'm looking for so I can never get comfortable with them. I personally haven't used Facer but I browsed through the pre-made faces on FaceRepo that are made for it and I wasn't impressed with any of them.
Pujie gives me everything I want as far as features and it's super powerful in the changes you can make. There basically isn't a single aspect of the face design you can't change and it's all pretty easy to do. It's also pretty battery friendly.
Facer is the cheapest and when I enter some of the premium brands, it comes up with some watchfaces, but I noticed already that a lot of those Breitling or Rolex watchface replicas are battery hoggers and the black stock huawei ones or the one I rapidly created in Pujie is more battery friendly
for myself I find pujie's greatest strength is its users who share their designs .. I grab a design I like, then over a period of a week I tweak it here and there when I notice I want something to be more suitable for my usage ... easy custom perfection and battery friendly

Uhm why should stealth 360 be so battery friendly? Shouldn't the standard "photo" watch face be the best in terms of AOD? It only displays a super minimal time and that's it

I thought I would create this post for others who might be considering moving to the Note 2.
I was previously using an Evo 4G. It was a decent phone after it was rooted, but battery life was still poor. After a lot of research and back-and-forth, I made the plunge and upgraded to the Note 2.
Here are my observations after having been using the Note 2 now for a week:
1. The size factor goes away quickly.
I was prepared to have a hard time adjusting to the size of the Note 2. The screen is larger than my entire Evo 4G! But after using it for a day, I was used to it and really liking it. Like I have read in so many other posts, I don't think I could ever go back to a small phone again. The size is really great.2. TouchWiz takes some getting used to.
TouchWiz is the layer Samsung puts on top of Android, like HTC uses Sense. Before blowing away my stock rom on the Evo, I had been using Sense, and thought it was decent. Then I upgraded my rom on the Evo to a Jellybean AOSP rom, and really liked that much better.
TouchWiz is similar to the AOSP, with some peculiarities that take some getting used to, but over all I think it is superior to HTC's Sense. I don't know how much of it is the software and how much of it is a beast of a phone, but there is very, very little lag or stutter ever on the Note 2. It's just a joy to use.
The homescreen clock, however, is atrocious and was quickly replaced. I'm currently running WPClock 2 live wallpaper and like it much better, but still not quite what I'm looking for.3. The camera is amazing
For either stills or video, for a phone camera this takes truly awesome photos. It's not up to the level of my Canon T2i, but for something that slides into my pocket, it comes pretty darn close. A whole 'nuther level from where the Evo 4G was. Not even in the same league. And the burst mode - just hold the button and it rattles off 6-frames-per-second. Again, not prosumer level, but for a phone it's pretty sweet.4. Speaker phone is great
I have found myself actually using the speaker phone, and the people I'm talking to can't believe that they are on speaker.5. Did I mention the screen is gorgeous?
Every time this past week I have needed to use the phone, it's made me smile. It's just a joy to look at. I know others will talk ppi and resolution and AMOLED etc, but from a sheer usability standpoint the display is just lovely. Bright, crisp, vibrant. It is just that good. There are other things I'm sure I'll think of once I close this post.
But if you are looking for a new phone and are considering the Note 2, stop it and go get one. I don't regret it for a minute.
Great observations. I'm shocked you didn't mention the battery life though!
Here are some tips and app suggestions for you:
S-Pen Toolbox - this lets you customise an app menu when you pull out the S-Pen
SwipePad + recent apps add-on - the best multi-tasking-app launching - app swithching program available
My script calculator - maths with pen and paper -sort of
Smart Screen Off - excellent if you have a flip cover or wallet style case
Now some tips:
The S-Pen is not only for taking notes, retouching photos and being artistic! It is veryeuseful when web browsing. The hover function works like "mouse over". It interacts with pull down menus on many web pages and enlarges thumnails!! Not many people know that!
As you seem to like photography I can also recommend:
PhotoshopTouch
PicsPlayPro
Snapseed
TouchRetouch
Afterfocus
Pro HDR Camera - wipes the floor with the stock camera HDR
If you don't have a case, get one. If you want a screen protector avoid the syrupy soft plastic ones. They do not look very nice -fter a few days with the S-Pen. I use cheap hard plastic ones that you can pick up for between $5-$10 for two. I change these every two months or so.
Enjoy you Note
Great post! (both of you, actually).
I concur with #1, absolutely. I think thats the biggest "hesitation" for most folk. And after a few days of using it, it didn't feel ridiculously big, as I feared, or others had mentioned. Weirdly, I think it looks smaller with a case on it. *shrug*
And yes, for once, I have a battery that I NEVER have to worry about.

Actually, I'm still exploring the battery life. I was a little surprised that I didn't experience the kind of battery life that others reported, and am experimenting with the reasons. Map was eating my battery, which I couldn't figure out because GPS radio was turned off, and I had not used the map app. Turns out it is actually Google Services through map and it automatically tracks your location, so now that I have turned that off, my battery is lasting longer.

I just picked up a flip cover from Samsung, so will be really interested to see how well Smart Screen Off app works with it. I have also ordered the Sena case leather pouch.
As for screen protectors, I prefer to not use one. I know some are worried about scratching their screen. I think like this. In my generation, (grew up in the 70's) a lot of grandparents put plastic set covers on the seats of their cars. They were cheap looking, uncomfortable, and squeeky. But the people who bought their car used had awesome seats! I would rather enjoy the screen as designed instead of covering it up. Just me.

One thing he didn't mention (and I agree with just about all of those suggestions) is Vignette. It is the only camera app I use, for actually taking pics. Its GUI isn't all happy-pretty-insta-filter-dumbed-down, but it hands-down takes some of the best pics I have ever seen on a phone.
Sorry!

Vignette was the first photo-filter-camera app I bought!! And I use it alot for the Illford black and white which is really incredible.
I have over 30 camera and retouching apps installed as I write so forgive me for missing that one.
Now after checking how many I have installed I need to mention:
Aviary - the best sharpness filter I have found and also allows you to rotate images for hand to get the horizon…well horizontal
Pixlr -
Paintersque

Great summary of first impressions. Very to the point. I came over from an evo 3d and I can say that even tough I liked sense I have grown to like touchwiz even more. The biggest plus of course is the battery life. Although I don't get the same life as some on here say they get I can use my phone from 7am till about 5pm on regular days. On my 3d I could barely make it to 12pm. All I can imagine is how great the note 3 will be or even this one once we get more updates.

Impressions - Update
I'm now 2 weeks into my Note 2 upgrade, so thought I would give some additional observations.
Battery life is simply amazing.
After a couple of charge cycles, battery life with moderate usage easily lasts all day without giving it a thought. Depending on usage, might last 2 days. 2. Days. Incredible. The screen continues to "wow" me.
The size is fantastic. Years ago, I was the proud user of the very first PDA called "Newton." It was by Apple and was way ahead of it's time and had a very large screen. Over time PDA screens became smaller, and phones followed that trend. Finally, there is again a screen big enough to actually use for more than making calls without me having to take my glasses to see the tiny display.
Also, the color and resolution are just incredible. I still smile each time I go to answer a call or text.Camera continue to impress
Like I mentioned earlier, it's not fair to compare the camera on the phone to a stand-alone prosumer model, but for a phone I think it is about the best I have ever used. Controls are simple, autofocus is fast, color reproduction is accurate, and resolution is very nice.I'm still not using the S-pen often, but think that is just getting used to having it available.
Overall, the only thing that I would change is I wish I could have upgraded sooner. There is no comparison from where I was with an Evo 4G. I'm a Mac guy, and enjoy the ease of use the Mac OS offers. With that said, Android on this device has the feel Apple has built its reputation on. It's fast, beautiful, ease-of-use (while not totally a function of the phone) is tremendous, TouchWiz interface is perfect for this device, and over all it's just a joy to use.
Truly great design doesn't hinder usage, it makes it intuitive and easy to do complicated things. That's Android, TouchWiz and this device.
Agree with most of what's been said here, I've moved to Note 2 from an old Nokia, MUCH smaller, and now I've got used to making sure it's secure when I'm working, I have to admit to liking it a LOT.
The screen and camera are both excellent, and once I've got used to turning off things that are not needed, the battery life is OK.
there are a few app and android issues, it would be nice to be able to do things like have sounds selectable by time of day, so the alarm can be left active, but ringing and other notifications can be turned off, and I've just posted a Q re being able to run more than one Text to Speech app concurrently.
The only thing I'd change on the hardware side is the position of the On/Off switch, it's altogether too easy to catch it when holding the phone, especially if it's fitted with the flip cover, which mine is.
I've also found an "interesting" issue, but not investigated it yet, when running off a 2.1 A capable 12 V charger unit in the car, with GPS active and other apps in background, the charger appears to be unable to keep the battery charged, so over a longer journey, the battery is being significantly discharged. That may be down to a poor charger cable, but without an app to show battery current, I have no way to know if it's the phone that's eating power, or the lead that's not allowing full charge current to flow.
Have to admit, having resisted the move to a smartphone for some time, now I've bitten the bullet, I am very pleased indeed with the Note 2, and I'm still only just discovering what the thing is really capable of.

Boy, for your first smartphone, you've set the bar high. I'd be curious to see how your opinions change re: size and function over the next three years.
As far as your "time of day, and sounds" issue, you might want to look into an app called "Tasker", Very Powerful application, you might find it's daunting at first to wrap your head around, but it's exactly what you're looking for.

the one redeeming feature for me is over 40 years working with one sort or another of computer, so the learning curve isn't so steep. Tasker will indeed be worth reading up on, as it may well be the answer for some of the things I'm looking for, certainly on some of the sounds on or off issues.
have to admit, it's making me think seriously about the longer term upgrades that I will be doing, the old concept of a desktop or a laptop are starting to look very different in the light of the capabilities of the Note, and I have to say I like being able to look at "full size" web sites with the Note, as there is just so much real estate on the screen, and despite being the wrong side of 60, I can still (just about) read it without going looking for reading glasses, which does help, though some fonts are getting challenging.
I am also wondering about the viability of using Android on a PC or desktop, there are certain aspects of the way it works that appeal a lot more than Windows right now, but that might be me being biased
Thanks for the pointer, that's the good thing about fora like this, the knowledge gets spread around and helps everyone
Cheers
Steve
Loved reading this thread! I'm a very happy LTEvo user, but my wife's E4GT is starting to show its age (she's very rough on devices). I bought a Note 2 via Ebay a couple of days ago. The plan right now is for her to get my LTEvo and I get the note. I'm compelled by the pen. As a long time WinMo user, the only feature I miss from those days was the ability to take quick notes and drawings. I tried capacitive pens, but they generally suck for writing notes as even the finest resolution is still way too large and they're a separate item easy to forget/lose. Can't wait to start playing!

You're gonna love the device. It's incredible. I don't use the pen a whole lot but one awesome feature is you can have it set so when you pull it out a notepad pops up. Which is great if you're on a call and need to jot something down in a hurry. No need to look for a pen and paper anymore!

I agree on all points, this phone really is the pinnacle of smart phones right now. Not a big fan of TWiz myself but there are some incredible ROMs on this site. I have soft bricked mine quite a few times and have been through probably 90% of the ROMs on this site with mine and it is just so easy to get it working again.
After a couple days of playing around with my Moto 360, I can honestly say I'm completely satisfied with it. I know the tendency is that usually only problems and negative opinions get posted, so I was already taking some of what I was reading with a grain of salt, but I'm glad to say I really haven't had any of the problems I've read about. On the latest software update, I'm getting about 24 hours of battery life with moderate usage, with ambient mode off (I don't feel a need for ambient screen mode, since I've yet to have a point where I went to look at it and it didn't turn on right away from the gesture). I certainly don't feel like I have to avoid using it at all in order for it to get through the day. The screen itself is quite nice, and I find myself really appreciating how android wear is currently utilizing the screen real estate. I was also really impressed with its usefulness with runkeeper (as was reviewed in another post Silellack). I was a bit concerned at first that I had perhaps chosen wrong with the black version instead of the silver, but I've found it's grown on me quite a bit, and after installing the pebble steel band like others have suggested I've found it to look especially slick (plus no cracks on the back, knock on wood). So I really have to hand it to Motorola; I'm happily surprised to see that the Moto 360 is all that I was hoping it would be.
Anyone else here finding themselves having a great time with it?
Just got mine up here north of the Maple Curtain, and so far my second day with it has been going quite well. No complaints, it's doing what it should and after taking the watch off the charger at 0700hrs today it's still at 52% (currently 1623hrs).. so that should equal roughly 18hours of battery life.
I have to agree. I waited until the second run to buy and received mine 3 days ago. I really love it. I was worried after reading the complaints but I have had zero problems.
When I first turned it on the latest update was ready to install so I never experienced the previous software issues. I have had the Samsung Gear, Gear 2 and Gear Live. This blows them all away. I like the functionality Android Wear provides, just the right mix of notifications and functions. My battery more than lasts me a day. 7am to 11 pm no problem.
Thanks Moto

Hello G3 Family :highfive:;
I am reaching out to you today to request some advice from anyone who owns a smart-watch or any wearable tech could share a brief story/review of that item and whether or not you would recommend purchasing it or not.
I know that wearables and smart-watches are making their way into the technology market, but for those of you, like myself, who have a strong desire to buy one might provide some useful tips and advice for us!
Some smart-watches/wearables I was looking towards would be:
LG G Watch R
Microsoft Fitness Band
Fitbit Charge HR
Jawbone Up3
Galaxy Gear Watch
Pebble Steel
Let me know your thoughts and thanks for your input!
Sony Smart Watch 2. Awesome battery life. Might be cheaper to get too.
LG Watch R here.
I am now on 36 hours with my battery. I love it, really a positive user here. It is still a gadget, doesnt really add something. I am Dutch, so the google now experience isnt that good.
I'm a pebble guy my self I have had it for over a year and still loving it. Battery life last me 5-7 days!

Pebble Steel
I just got the Pebble Steel for Christmas and have been in love!!! (Should have gotten it when it was first offered, almost a year ago)
Things I like: Battery Life, Always On Display, Shake wrist for backlight, Vibrating Notifications, Dressier/Professional Look, Remote Controlling Apps(music, camera) Quick SMS replies.
Things I don't like: Requires more than the Pebble App(which is nice) to make use of extra features that other "watch apps" use, such as Glance, Pebble Dialer, etc.
I wish that the Pebble App on the G3 or any phone did the same features that the other 3rd party apps do.
to all pebble users:
i am a pebble user myself but i can't handle the noticable battery drain when pebble services are up and running
is it just me and my g3 or most of you experience the same?
w/o pebble i can achieve 4 hours of SOT and with pebble on, reaching 3 and a half is nearly impossible
Also pebble user over here, original pebble that is. Have been using a galaxy gear first gen and although it was a fun device with its camera and built in speaker it wasn't nearly as functional as the pebble. As others said here: multiple days of battery life, notifications with canned replies, music control, background pedometer I love it all.
Did notice some heavier battery drain due to the constant Bluetooth connection and pebble services but that is quite understandable.
I do get about 18 hours of use with about 3.5 hours sot. That is with all sorts of syncing activated and mostly a (bad) 3g connection.
Lg gwatch R for me.
Great battery and design
Works perfectly

Even though it wasn't on your list, I'm a new Moto 360 owner (had it for 14 days now). I love it. I got the light finish metal, but have since acquired a few other bands and I like that I can change them depending on how I want it to look or what I'll be doing (for example, I have a synthetic band I use when I'm exercising or running). Battery life could be better, but evidently it's better than it used to be. I can get through the day on regular mode, but if I use ambient I'll probably need to charge before the end of the day. A lot depends on the number of notifications you get. Obviously having Bluetooth on all day impacts the battery life on my G3, but it's still plenty enough for me. And I can always swap in the extra battery that LG was kind enough to give away last fall. I just think it looks cool - especially my current setup of the silver watch paired with a brown leather cuff-style band.
I debated buying one for the longest time, but after getting a couple Beat Buy gift cards for Christmas I decided to pull the trigger and I'm glad I did. It's definitely an unnecessary luxury item - more fashionable nerd tech than a practical item. But it's fun. Currently I'm slightly obsessed with designing my own faces in WatchMaker and hunting for the work of others. I think I've had at least 3 different faces on my watch everyday for the past two weeks.
Enjoy your potential purchase!
Pebble owner here. I recharge mine about every 7 days, but reckon I could get close to 10 out of it (was just ~4 before I realised I shouldn't have seconds showing). Not found any particular battery drain on my phone - but then we have poor wireless and signal at work so that normally hammers my battery.
LG GWR for me. It works really well with the inbuilt LG fitness app and gives you real time heart rate tracking.

How long does your battery typically last?

The phone about a day and a half. The watch just over two days.

It's from an old broken Fossil watch I kept for some reason. Glad I did.
It seems (to me) that the release is really close. Flat tire is still present (doesn't matter to me).
I am just afraid that the lug to lug distance is too long, leading to a goofy appearance like the LG G Watch R/Urbane.
http://www.engadget.com/2015/08/22/motorola-moto-360-sequel-spotted/
I like the original better. It really is a goofy look. But still better than the Sony.
I also like the original design. The original 360 will be my last smart watch, personally smart watches are just a fad, looks nice and all but it really doesn't add anything to the android experience.
In fact when flashing Roms it adds nothing but a long draw out experience , factory reset, resyning the watch, making sure I have enough battery left. It takes longer for me to set up my stupid smart watch than my N6.
Above all I hate when people ask me if it's the icrap watch!
I find it looks exactly like the current gen except for the wake button and lugs. I was expecting Moto to upgrade the watch not re-hash it Apple/Samsung style.

Same.
Adding the lugs was a very bad idea, design wise.
All they had to do was improve the build quality, up the specs, and improve the display. That's literally all they had to do to gave me throwing my money at them, like they were big booty strippers.
It seems as though I'll be sticking with the original for a while longer.

By adding the lugs I think they wanted to increase acceptance from "regular watch" wearers and increase their customer base. I don't really mind the lugs, but I like the lug-less design a bit more.
The button at 2' o clock is really an improvement, I have big problems with the current button placement when lifting weights and wearing straps and gloves (it gets pushed almost constantly).
What I do hope from Motorola is significantly increased battery life, like tripled or more. And maybe a tiny but powerful speaker

Not really the place for this, but I disagree. I think people want their smartwatches to do too much that the form factor just isn't capable of, but having a notification system on my wrist -- that looks nice -- has changed my phone use a lot. I dig into my pocket WAY less.
As long as it has wireless charging/can use my existing spare 360 docks, claims better battery life and uses an AMOLED screen I'm in. I love the original 360, but the new design is, IMO, just beautiful.
i don't mind the lugs... what moto360 needs is a faster processor and longer battery life
2 different sizes will increase their market share too... the 1st gen moto360 is quite bulky on me
Still got the flat tire.. I'm out this time around.
I think the v2 looks nice with the lugs. But I'll be sporting my v1 since not enough has been improved nor made more appealing.
UPDATE 8/3/2019 Hello everyone its been a long time since I have been on here as I took a break from here as it is so time consuming on making custom watch faces but I still get a ton of requests, kinds words and donations to this very day. I understand that I started doing this way before digital watches were as popular now so I am considering starting back and trying to make custom watch faces and in helping the community and myself. I am adding a poll to see what the demand is for digital watch faces for any watch of your desire. Please share as if the demand is enough and can be advantageous enough for the time that is put into these I will start doing this again as I have always had a passion to create and contribute. Thanks again for everyones kind words as always!!!

Since our Huawei watches are AMOLED, I'd really like to see more faces that won't lead to excessive burn-in in ambient mode. I'm always looking for dimmed faces that only show hands, not minute marks or logos. I'd especially like to see more analog faces where the dimmed hands don't start at the center.
What option do you select in the settings for facer to make it fill and fit correctly on the Hauwei? All the options I see puts it smaller and towards the top left corner.
I nice high resolution version of the Rolex Submariner watchface without a bezel would be amazing!
Hi,
Is it possible to ask your moto360's skins without the black band at the bottom of each skin ?
Thank you very much for your beautiful work.

Could you possibly do the Tissot PRS 200 in blue?
Can't post a link to image as I'm new, I hope you can help!
Thanks! Amazing work!
a dark mondaine with date and stop2go would be amazing
Waiting to see if full round faces will be available without that flat tire.
Breitling Chronomatic in brown please.

well, the topic is quite calm. I uploaded the picture of the Lotus watch but no reaction from anyone so far.
Cause I saw in this and other topics that Leni (and ofcourse the others) made some great watchfaces so far. I wonder how the Lotus watch would look like digitally
So I'm requesting this watch face without the moto 360 and with working icons, or at least icons that display weather, watch battery, phone battery, and footsteps. I've loved this design since day one.
I'd like a watchface that does not turn all black in ambient mode. Some of the ZW3 watchfaces do that (for ex. Lux Copper) but I cant figure out how to do that on Hwatch. And the ZW3 watchfaces dont work on Hwatch (constant loading issue)
Thanks
