"need some help for my NEXUS 5X please" !!! - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

-my nexus 5X H971 - 16GB stuck in boot loop
-i tried wipe data and cahe from recovery but still have boot loop :crying:
-when i try to flash factory image it asks to unlock boot-loader
-flashing unlock bootloader needs to enable oem unlock in developer options in system
Now my question is " How can i unlock boot-loader without enable oem unlock in developer options" ???

flash the FULL OTA from the factory image site using recovery and adb sideload.
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/ota
If that doesn't work you probably need to use LGUP.
If that doesn't work, you probably have hardware issue.

[Q] Face Unlock issue

Hello guys,
this morning I've received the 4.3 OTA. The entire installation was ok, but my face unlock option is not working anymore.
When I try to unlock using FaceUnlock, i had this message error: "Face Unlock couldn't start".
I've already tried several changes in settings but without success.
Any suggestions to fix this?
Thanks in advance.
Hi I had the same issue, looked around but couldn't find anything. Managed to sort it out myself tho, if you have unlocked your bootloader and have fastboot on your computer then all you need to do is download the factory images for your phone from here https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images extract the system.img file the boot into your bootloader and use the commands
1)"fastboot flash system system.img" then
2a)"fastboot reboot-bootloader"
2b)"fastboot format cache" (not sure if these two steps are necessary boot did no harm for me).
3) "fastboot reboot"
If your rooted you will lose root so will need to re root your phone
Thanks fezy.
It worked for me as well.
No problem, glad it worked for you too

Flashing kdz fails on 18% or similar? If so, try to flash v20p ROM using the latest LG UP library that is 0.4.3.
Here is the link http://www.mediafire.com/file/7ry19u299ynwer5 extracted from f500 variant of the device.

broken TWRP Recovery and locked bootloader

Hello guys, I'm on LineageOS. I want to go back to Oxygen OS. But I can't because of my locked bootloader.
I did try to connect with the pc via adb: "Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" and it's says everytime bootloader is locked enable OEM. I know the OEM is in the Developer Options but not for me. It's not available.
What to do now?
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
It will wipe all of your data.

Yes, that means it's not enabled in developer options.
Now you say you don't have that OEM option available in the developer options - are you sure you've turned developer options on? If not do as @gorillaCF says above.
If you have done that and still don't have the option then back everything up, do a factory reset and try again immediately after that.
Flash factory images and go back to clean stock. Boot OOS and enable oem unlock in dev options

Flash with locked bootloader? Is this possible?
What's broken with TWRP? What happens when you boot to recovery? Do you have adb access in any sort of recovery state?

do that.
LineageOS 15.1 doesn't have the OEM unlock feature. Normally, if you temper with the system and lock the bootloader it won't boot at all making this option useless. At least that's what I've experienced. As others stated you can only use the unbrick tool which will definitely work or contact OnePlus for an L2 technician who will use the same tool to do so.
So how did you do this? Did you do "fastboot oem lock" with TWRP and LineageOS on the device?

Why the hell LineageOS 15.1 don't have the OEM unlock? This makes no sense, because now I have a big problem.
Yeah, the unbrick tool I'm lucky but for the others with different devices will not have this unbrick tool. That's very stupid. It will be last time for me, with LineageOS.

Normally, it is impossible to lock it without fastboot. Again, it's not LOS's fault. You should never lock your bootloader if on a custom ROM or modified system. I've been running LOS 15.1 for almost a week and never had such an issue.

Sorry sir, but the factory Images means stock ROM and stock recovery.
Can't flash both
Why there is no backdoor for this situation? Why is this not possible, that you need by Factory images no unlocked bootloader. That would fix many problems.

If you can unlock the bootloader again, I'd guess the flash didn't manage to erase everything.
Normally you'd have to boot and enable OEM unlocking before being able to unlock bootloader.

Did gsi android 10 flash recently?
if the answer is yes
with the bootloader unlocked you must boot twrp and flash stock-repartition.zip
You can now block the bootloader in stock without bootloop

There is another way too. Put your phone in EDL mode (fastboot oem edl) and flash the stock rom again. Even with clear_all_lock option enabled ,your phone won't lock your bootloader. When the phone boots up after flash, and you see the boot screen wait until you see erasing circle, after the second reboot, hold VOL - and power button until you go in fastboot mode. Then on your PC type: fastboot oem lock. The phone will boot up,then it will erase user data ,and you are ready with locked bootloader. I didn't have the stock repartition script ,so that's what i did.

If it works unlocked but not locked, something is modified. Leave it unlocked or flash a complete stock rom.

Probably something failed to flash. I don't know how much error checking the script has. Try again? Take note of the output, looking for warnings and errors.

Question How to reset back to factory, after rooting???

Need back to 100% stock. I am returning, so how to unroot, and lock BL??? Thanks!
Factory reset and flash stock image from Google directly. Finally lock bootloader

Is factory reset really needed for unrooting ?
Why wouldn't just flashing the original boot.img and re-locking the bootloader be enough ?,
considering you haven't changed any system files with root.
Maybe also "fastboot flash vbmeta --enable-verity --enable-verification vbmeta.img" before
locking the bootloader to enable verity.

Changing the status of the bootloader - from either locked to unlocked - or unlocked to locked, wipes the phone, so same as a factory reset. Also, if they're returning the phone, they'd want to factory reset anyway.
I'd also suggest Official Google Android Flash Tool, and my understanding of flashing vbmeta.img is that if you don't have it set to disable, then by default it's enabled, although using the switches might work fine too.
