Hello, I'm a noob since this is my first HTC device, so I'm not very familiar with S-Off, RUU, etc...
Currently I'm on version 1.80.401.1, S-ON and Xposed Framework. Other details:
Baseband: [email protected]_41.13_F
Build: 1.80.401.1 8.0_g CL761959 release-keys
Kernel Ex-kernel 0.11
How should I update to 1.90.401.3? Do I need to be S-Off? Can I flash any 1.90.401.3 firmware or does it has to be a specific one? (I never got the 1.80.401.3 OTA, I think it's because of modifying the system)
Anyway, thanks in advance!
1.90 is not released officially yet.
But you can flash one of the custom roms to get it.

Not true. Custom roms dont update firmware. You can't flash the 1.90 that is available atm while S-ON. Once the ota has been officially released you will be able to extract the firmware.zip from that. S-ON can only flash signed firmware from htc.

and if you are s-off you could head to http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/how-to/2016-05-27-fastboot-flashing-firmware-t3387520

Could I just flash the firmware file extracted from the signed OTA once its released, on top of a custom rom with S-ON? Or would I have to revert back to stock (RUU), update through OTA and then flash a custom rom?
Thanks in advance!

Yes you can do that. Signed firmware also contains stock recovery and boot so you will have to flash twrp and root again also.

So if I'm S-ON, I should wait until someone extracts the firmware from the signed OTA once its released?
But how do I do flash it, supposing that there's a firmware already?

When would you expect T-Mobile to receive this?
Sorry for bumping in
I wanted to know can we flash signed firmware latest with s-on, restore stock backup and then take ota whenever available?

When it contains a firmware update then yes s-off is needed. Not to sure about pure and only software update. I think the last one can also be done with S-on

What do you mean by "new" firmware? The latest T-Mob firmware, or the brand new 3.28 (Android 4.4.4) firmware?
For the latter (3.28) than NO. You can't modify the partitions (hboot, radio, etc.) in question by unofficial means without S-off.
If you mean the former (latest T-Mob firmware) then yes, you can update by official means. Either relock the bootloader and run the latest RUU. Or return to stock ROM and recovery and update by OTA.

I saw your posts on the ARHD, and if you modified the firmware zip in the past, in theory it should work the same for the 3.x firmware version.
Although it should be said that modifying firmware is potentially risky; as any errors that occur with flashing hboot or radio can result in a brick. Only tinker around if you know what you are doing, and willing to accept the consequences if things go wrong.
Safest course would be to wait for an official T-Mobile firmware to deploy; or flash a firmware verified by other T-Mob users to work.
To install CM12 on my One M8 it tells me that my hboot version is too old.
My current version is 3.16 and I need 3.18 or 3.19 any ideas on how I do that since i didn't find anything myself.

your hboot is old you must be on a custom rom for a long time. Am I correct?
are you on s-off ?
Yes I have since I got the phone about half a year ago and I'm in s-on.

Since you are S-On you will have to go back to stock to take the OTAs to update your firmware (contains hboot). That means stock recovery and ROM, plus an unmodified system partition.
If you were to go S-Off, you could update the firmware manually.
Can you tell me if I need to be S-Off in order to flash back to stock because I don't really understand it in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376

You don't need to be S-Off to flash the backups. You just need the ones that match your CID and firmware/hboot.
You can find the 3.19 hboot .img files to flash with a simple google search (I just tried). Make sure that is the proper one for your model, and please realize that the hboot is a critical part of your phone and any corruption will brick your device.

Hasn't been updated since it was rooted I see. And that was two years ago. That's a long time.
Hook up to your PC, get into ADB/fastboot, and enter the command fastboot getvar all. Remove your IMEI and serial# first (and MEID if you have one) because that is private info that you should never share on a public forum.
With the information from the getvar, I will be able to direct you on the proper firmware download.
Telling me the hboot version doesn't tell me enough to link you up. It does let me know however, that instructions on how to update aren't enough. You need direction on how to find the firmware for your particular model of M8.
I'll also give you instructions on how to flash the firmware.
You could also go to this thread instead, and learn on your own. It's all in the first couple of posts. It's very informative.
Of course you can post back here after if you have any questions about the process
Hey, I had the M7 but my friend now came with an m8.
He wants to downgrade to lollipop, where I found a ruu for. He is on Android 6 (Thats what he says) and wants to go back to 5.0 Lollipop.
Now my question is:
He is S Off and Unlocked bootloader.
I think he has to relock bootloader right?
And also, do i have to flash the Firmware.zip first like in the M7? I mean he is S off, so running the Exe should be it right?
Thanks for Help already
No need to flash firmware.Just search for stock lollipop rom and flash it.

So it's time to update to oreo firmware first.
You need the ruu that matches the OS line in download mode. Not all x.xx.118 ruu files will work. If you have a S-ON device that is. Check the number and post it here so we can have a look.
i need any ruu file so i can downgrade and do ota or just upgrade with ruu
i installed viper10 but ota shows no updates :/ (7.0)
my CID is t-mob009
2.41.118.4

Of course it doesn't show an update, a custom rom never offers OTA updates and definetly no firmware updates.

you restore your OS to stock by flashing it, after that reboot and install the official htc OTA and you are on oreo.
i'm only giving you the most easy way to upgrade to oreo because that's what you want because you want to run LOS 15, these are all my experiences and i try to help. If you find another way easier and that way suits you more please be my guest.

flash it with fastboot flash zip 2PS6IMG.ZIP ? or rebootruu then flash? or it will show me the file?
