Recent apps not working - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have the Canadian LG G4 (LG-H812) with stock rom unrooted and my recent apps button is not working properly. After the phone has been running for several hours the recent apps menu always shows blank. However, if I reboot my phone, it starts functioning normally again but then always goes blank after a few hours of uptime and doesn't repopulate with new apps as I open them until I reboot again. Does anyone know what's going on here and how to fix it?

no sure what causes that issue. but you can try 2 things..
1. do a factory reset.
2. if it continues. flash stock firmware using LGUP and your H812 KDZ file..

I have the same problem on my nexus 5

No, I don't use Tasker. I did a factory reset and it still keeps happening. It's really frustrating.

Factory reset didn't fix anything and I can't find the stock KDZ file for my Bell LG G4 anywhere.

LS980 ZVD Update Thread

Figured someone should start a thread now that its out. I had this update waiting for me this morning when I woke up. Had to replace some modified system files and then took the update. Lost root of course.
Points of note on ZVD:
Do not accept an OTA update with custom recovery or rom installed. If you have modified system files the stock files must be put back. Failure to consider this will lead you to problems you dont need. You can always .tot your device if necessary before taking the OTA, or wait (and be patient) for Devs to develop their roms to support zvd.
It does not include wifi calling.
ART Runtime is now available as an option in the Developer Menu.
It enables Knock Code.
You can reroot with ioroot 25 after update.
There were other fixes listed on Android central including:
A Google Patch
Improvements for group messaging
HD Voice Icon
Updated Email Signature
http://m.androidcentral.com/sprint-lg-g2-update-brings-knocking
I also noticed that Auto Brightness is not switching brightness up and down randomly all over the place and stays pretty well fixed but low intensity even at 100% with auto brightness enabled. Also of note is my battery draining really fast today after I updated and several restarts. Android system seemed to be running away over 28% battery usage but it seems to have settled down. Im gonna recalibrate my battery just be sure anyways. I always do after updates.
ZVD thread. Have at it!
any chance were you able to capture the file and might be able to upload it?

If I did I would have posted it but I believe some of the Devs already have the files. Dont quote me on that but I thought I had read someone grabbed it already.
ah okay sorry. but yea hopfully if one of them has it they post it soon. lol. thanks for the update on zvd tho. i went back to stock trying to see if i can get it. no luck tho
So are you able to get root again after the update?

Does anyone happen to have a copy of the original build.prob from ZVC? I changed some things up and its messing up my update.
Just out of curiosity, how do you recalibrate your battery??

I read this along time ago so hopefully Im retelling it correct. Here's what I do:
Let the phone batt run down and phone shut off completely.
Plug it in and leave the phone off till it charges to 100%.
Turn it on use phone as normal thru the day. Try not to power cycle the phone at all.
Let the batt run down again and phone shut off.
Again plug it in while off and charge to 100%.
Turn on phone with it still plugged in and when the LG screen comes up unplug it.
Your batt is now calibrated.
My G2 is stuck!
I took the ZVD update about 10 minutes ago and once the phone rebooted im suck in TWRP...what am I doing wrong??
your suppose to be fully stock to take the update. in you have a nandbackup use it now. btw i rooted using ioroot manually and installed the twrp recovery using autorec. also for some reason knock on doesnt work for me anymore. worked before zvd

Downgrading Note 4 (SM-910A) to Lollipop(5.1.1)

Ever since I got Marshmallow update on September 26, 2016. My device is not functioning properly. While I'm on phone it randomly restarts, while it's charging it freezes up and restarts, restarts while it's in my pocket. Also sometimes my phone just freezes and if I press power/home button. My phone would not wake up, so I have to remove my battery and put it back in (I do this like 10 times in a day). I already talked to Samsung they said they can't help and also talked to AT&T and they told me to just buy a new device. Basically I want to roll back to Lollipop, because it was working perfectly fine on Lollipop, so if anyone could provide me a link for an official 5.1.1 with August security patch stock at&t ROM it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
same here
I experienced the exact same conditions. Mine would go into reboot hell where it would not complete a reboot and just reboot itself until the battery went dead. I performed a low level factory reset and it returned to some level of functionality. I would like to roll mine back too.
Cannot be done.
Anti-downgrade lock. You have a 6.0 bootloader, cannot flash a 5.x.x one.
Can't do much in your case, except for maybe a factory reset.

Hello, it's the same thing, but there is an application, called WakeLock, that you can download it from the game store and use option 4, I worked ah, that solution I recommend, a companion on this page, but in another forum, but I'm going to install 6.0.1 again but this time with the files here, I try and give it as it was

Pixel XL Possibly Bricked

Alright I posted about this on reddit.com/r/googlepixel earlier tonight and thought I fixed my issue. I installed Bully Scholarship Edition and within the first couple minutes of gameplay, my phone froze and some black bars appeared on screen. It rebooted several times then went totally blank. Couldn't get into bootloader/recovery. After putting it on the charger for a little bit, it turns back on. I thought all was good until after a couple hours it does the same thing after just being on the home screen. I consider myself pretty knowledgeable when it comes to smartphones and rooting/roming but am stuck. I tried flashing stock system images and it was okay again for a while but it eventually froze with the black bars on screen and kept rebooting. Is my best bet to RMA it. Any help would be appreciated.
Edit: Ok its officially dead. Screen won't turn on but can hear vibrations from notifications or if I hold power button to get to the power menu. RIP
I personally would try to RMA it, it sounds like a persistent issue. Did you try not installing apps and just run that way for 24 hours?

Nexus 5X no command after installing 7.1.1

I am new in Android and couple months ago i rooted my device with Nexus toolkit everyting worked fine. Today i did a factory reset and everyting worked and i try to install 7.1.1 update and now i am stuck at no command. How to fix this? I can open menu with volume up and shutdown button but i am not sure what should i do.:crying:
HNY everyone wishing you all the best :victory:
Try installing the full factory image of 7.1.1. You can do that.with NRT but it's best learn how to use fastboot. See the stickies on how to flash a factory image.

I am having this issue right now (no command). Everything was cool, until I tried using flashify for an "open Gapps" ROM so I could play Pokémon Go since they don't like rooted phones. Honestly I know I went about the flash the wrong way, so I'm wondering if you've figured out how to flash a ROM since I still can't play Pokémon and don't have any of the cool programs everyone extorts their root for, like Viper4Android. Did you learn anything from your experience? Thanks

Wrong Pin - Issue

Since updating to Pie every once in a while after a reboot the phone wont take my PIN and tells me it's wrong. Rebooting fixes it generally but I'm worried at some point it wont any longer. Has anyone else had this issue?

Rooted or not? If rooted, what magisk version are you using?
Yes, rooted. I'm using the latest Beta of Magisk due to issues with the stable version. After posting this it happened again so I had to reboot and upon rebooting it started loop booting. I reflashed Pie over itself and that got me out of loop boots and I've already had the wrong pin issue come up again since. I may just wipe today and start fresh.

I had this issue by rooting with the non-twrp method. I believe it also was caused by not removing all security before rooting...fingerprints and all. Eventually I ended up in the bootloop of death which I recovered only with fastboot flash-all.
I rooted again after all this (needed my substratum) and so far no issues since remembering to disable all security before rooting.
Ya know. I've always removed all security before flashing but read it's no longer necessary and when flashing Pie it was the first time I ever didn't. Wonder if that's related.

Negative. That's a twrp thing. Which is hit and miss for many. The 3.2.2-0 seems to work better than the 3.2.3-0 version in that regard. However, it's not consistent among all users

After a sequence of
1 Shutting down the phone
2 rebooting into safe mode
3 shutting down the phone again
and finaly my pin will work.
I believe its something with android P as I had the updated versions of Magisk and TWRP and worked fine on O.
And of course googles solution is to reset everything. That dose not help ever. Only makes me more frustrated.

This zip makes my phone bootloop. Is there an updated one? I am failing safetynet today, anyone else?

Negative. That's a twrp thing. Which is hit and miss for many. The 3.2.2-0 seems to work better than the 3.2.3-0 version in that regard. However, it's not consistent among all users

Try "adb reboot recovery" next time or switch to a custom kernel. This way you should always be able to enter your pin without the freezing/crashing. I'd recommend flashing @nathanchance's Flash Kernel via Franco Kernel Manager. Just flash and forget.

Safety net failing is a known issue.. topjonwu has made the change in the code but a new version is not out yet with that change
