hello.
i have arhd 3.3, 12.41 radio.
i put my phone into wall socket last night at 23 30 and this morning at 5:30 phone was still charging at 73%. at 6 30 it was at 83%. then i switched it off and back on, pluged the charger in, and the led went green in like 2 minutes.
what's this? i have the phone for 3 days now. does it take that long to charge or is it a rom problem? i am using the original charger.
looks like a rom problem. Best way to know will be trying different roms.
dont know if it is a rom problem. i think is a radio problem.
install current widget and see what the input milli ampage is. This should give you an idea of if your having a charging issue. Also when you have charged to true 100% (Not when the LED goes green but when current widget says you are no longer receiving a current (0 Mah)) then reboot to recovery and wipe the battery statistics.
I can't see the radio giving you an issue on charging, unless it was using almost more juice than you are putting in. The only time I have ever seen that behaviour is when using a USB charging cable and navigation at the same time.
Hope this helps.
i am using the charger that came with the device that uses indeed an usb cable connected to it.

I meant a USB only (not original) charger. As the charger supplied is actually a wall charger and is rated to supply the device with more "juice" than a standard USB socket (i think are rated for 1mah charging??)
The scenario I am using is when you use a phone for navigating and have it plugged into a 12v socket in a car using a USB adapter which will only give the lowest permitted power rating.
so......i think i have a problem.
when i plug the phone into the wall socket it says charging(usb)
when i plug it in laptop usb using the cable the same charging(usb).
wasn't it supposed to say charging(ac)?

Not sure about that, but even so my DHD will charge from flat in less time than yours was plugged in, how warm / cold was the room you had the phone charging in? Possibly it's getting too hot whilst charging which would lead to the phone reducing the charge rate?
now it;s on charge from about 30 min. it's not even warm. the battery is reported to have 27*
You might be having a damaged battery try replacing it with a new one.
the phone is new.
could it be because of setcpu 230-1228?

Yes I think it's supposed to say charging AC. Try cleaning the usb connectors thoroughly.
Yeh being informed that it is chargng over USB when in the well is definitely wrong. I suggest trying to get another cable or something like a newer style blackberry charger.

Did you try any other wall charger? It could be the charger itself, not the USB cable. Also, try a different outlet.
Device: Galaxy Nexus
OS / Browser / build number: 4.0.2 build ITL41F.I9250XXKK6
Kernel: 3.0.8-gaaa2611
AC adaptor output: 5v 1A
I have the same lack of charging issue.
I have tried 4 different micro usb cables, oem that came with the device, a HTC, a kindle, and a blackberry.
None of them charge the phone while its in the o/s.
While the device is powered off they all charge the device albeit very slowly when the device is powered off. I get the white charging icon of the battery with the bolt icon inside. Then it flicks to the animated charging icon for 3 or 4 cycles, then back to the bolt icon. -> loop that while it "charges"
Also in the o/s when i have the usb cable plugged in to the same laptop that used to charge it a few days ago (tested on all usb ports, and rebooted laptop + tested on other laptops). The device (in settings -> tethering) says i am not connected at all by usb to a computer.
Anyone else got this / solutions ?
I have this exact problem as well. Started yesterday!
Also having this issue, any solutions?
I think its a bug in Android my self..... but i did go to verizion and they gave me a different wall charger not made by samsung and I havnt had the problem yet... not saying it fixed it tho, because the problem wasnt always there, it only happened randomly.
It wasnt a problem with the battery its self, i had bought an extended battery trying to fix the problem and it did not.
I have the same problem now too.
Plug you phone in and go into battery settings. Does it say Charging(USB)? Both my Nexi had a faulty cable and both were replaced in 2 days for free from Verizon and the other from Samsung.

No, it doesn't say charging. My cables are fine...
This problem is sporadic. Sometimes it will charge and sometimes it won't.
I contacted amazon about mine doing this and they offered to RMA it. Couldn't charge it even running a custom 4.0.3 rom so had it replaced.
I managed to fix it, I suspect it was due to me updating my software to version 4.0.2...
I booted it into fast boot and wiped the cache then restored to factory defaults in fast boot...
My friend who I work with also has a Galaxy Nexus to but his O/S is running 4.0.1 mine was fine before I updated since I wiped it is seems to be ok since my first post.
I only noticed this when I used a different charger that used a cheap two wire mini USB and a lower amperage. To fix it I rebooted. OEM and off a computer have worked fine for me.
I've also had the same problem. It happened to me a couple days ago. I've tried multiple different cables and outlets with no success.
Does anyone know if a factory reset will fix the problem?
If not, I'll have to go get it replaced at Verizon.
Just a follow up. I tried everything, experienced the same issues as the OP and finally traded it in for new one at my Bell provider. The issue does not seem to stem from the battery as USB is also non-functional (which would not be affected by the battery not charging). If you experience this issue I would highly recommend taking it back to your reseller (if possible) or contacting samsung for repair.
I had the sane issues. Powering down the phone using quick boot app while plugged in worked for me. Seems like a sw prob. GSM nexus 4.03

Powering down with "quick boot" is no different than powering down manually. I have tried both methods and they do not work for me upon powering back up. I've also reset battery stats in recovery mode but to no avail.
The only sure method is to charge the phone while it's powered off. What's interesting is that I don't seem to have this issue with my other Galaxy Nexus phone.
agreed it should be the same, yet I got different results, and this was after changing chargers, usb cords, computers, wiping data, wiping battery, etc etc (note that charging worked while powered off, albeit slowly, throughout this. perhaps it was simply a coincidence, but that was the only variable I changed at that point, and it charging has worked since then.
I suspect that it's due to me using a (motorola) oem two wire (power only) ac cable, though I am not sure (while trying to get the phone to charge while powered on, I used three different samsung oem cables, and two batteries, so I'm somewhat convinced this is a weird s/w error, whether it's a driver or android itself). has been working since then, and to be safe, I'm staying away from said cable.
Cool. Have you unlocked and rooted your phone? I have, but did the same with my other Galaxy Nexus which doesn't have this problem.
Has this problem been officially reported to Google?

Stop using the Motorola charger, once it happens it sticks until a reboot. If it happens with the stock one after a boot you have a problem. My guess is the Motorola chargers don't play nice with other phones as I've seen oddities before with other devices and their charger.

I have no Moto chargers but I am using multiple chargers. My OEM Samsung charger hasn't been working for me and my phone almost died. Just powered off, connected my Rocketfish charger, turned it on and it appears to be charging normally now. The only other charger I use is a plain USB cable connected to my work computer. Hmmm.
Again, has this been reported to Google? Is it an issue related to root or no?
When the phone is off and plugged into the wall, it charges. When the phone is on, and I plug it into the wall or computer, the phone doesn't know it's plugged in.
I ordered a brand new usb charging flex jack and replaced the old one, still the same problem. What gives?
EDIT: I am stock. Not rooted.
Does this happen on the original cable also?
Have you tried wiping?
Is Fast Charge on?
Fk. It doesn't even charge from the wall! When the phone is off, it has the animation that says it's charging when i plug it in the wall. I left it plugged into the wall overnight. This morning I took a look at the phone, and it didn't charge!
Oh noez, what should i do?
Also, I don't have the original cable. I'm using an HTC one.
EDIT: Dafuq?! I found an LG charger. Apparently the phone knows that it's charging when I charge with that. The thing is, that charger is just a charger; it's not a usb cable+ an adaptor. So I can't use it for adb and such.
What is Fast Charge?

You should mention what ROM you're on (and version) so that no one else makes the same mistake I did in assuming you had a custom ROM and that Fast Charge is on. It's a feature that makes sure that whatever charges it is recognised as AC 1amp charger as some chargers aren't designed well enough (I believe it involves a single solder point) to report themselves as capable of 1A. If it doesn't report as AC to Android, it will charge at 500mA instead (it assumes USB power). It sometimes causes problems with connecting to PC via USB.
Get another USB cable, this time none of that fancy **** go straight to OE Samsung or something.
=O I thot all usb cables are made equal! So I can't use an HTC usb cable? The dude didn't sell me the phone with a cable T.T
Also, I'm stock. I am not even rooted.
My nexus just started acting stupid when I plug it in also.
Mine sat in a drawer for a few weeks and when I plugged it in to charge, it wouldn't.
What I did was this.
plug device into charger
remove battery for a few seconds
replace battery
press power button
phone powered up and began charging.
Even now, it still sometimes doesn't recognize the charger and I have to unplug and plug it in until it does.
I use a rocketfish cable.

Some devices are picky, you'd think that all USB cables are made equal (I did too) but some just don't work well with certain devices. I've had printers th... wait printers always have **** problems... I've had uh... usb extensions not work well with some Wifi dongles and such. My old milestone didn't like the Samsung cable either (yet the Moto cable works perfectly on gnex)
=O. Then it has to be the usb cable! No way it's not!
I ordered one on ebay =D
Rooted Gnex here I come!

Thank you dmappdev,
I followed your procedure (feel like talking about surgery here, which isn't too far from topic); I'm convinced that it helped in some way, directly or indirectly... as at first, my Galaxy S Advance still wouldn't recognize/charge my phone with:
1. its own charger,
2. my old Galaxy Ace's charger,
3. a universal wall usb plug used with the S Advanced own USB-to-USBmini cable.
My last idea was to use, quote: an old Nokia USB cable connected to my PC... and that worked.
I was much too happy my phone had remembered how to charge to stay mad... But I still tried those three means for charging again, and only the phone's original charger worked now. So the phone's charging ability has been "awakened" in some way, but only for the original charger ...technology is improving, but not the ethics on making life easier for the consumer.
All this was yesterday. This morning (there's more, yes), I saw my phone indicating a 100% charge although it had been disconnected from charge for several hours - something that had already happened once yesterday, before the unable-to-charge situation; a simple reboot took care of the problem, the battery status now showing a more realistic 53%.
Any comments to any of the above? If not, thanks again for your tip anyway !!!
Hi everyone,
Something really strange happened to me last week (or at least I started noticing it last week)
First, when my HTC10 was turned on, it didn't recognize the charger at all, I tried different chargers and cables and the result was the same. If I turned off the phone it worked perfectly. I wiped the cache and tried again with the same result. I booted in safe mode and got the same result.
I hard reset my phone and loaded all my apps again and now the USB C just works when I plug it in a certain way when turned on(one of the two possible ways, impossible for me to know which of them). When turned off it works perfectly.
Does anyone has experienced this? I think maybe it's related with one app, since when turned off it works with no problem.
UPDATE:
I just hard reset my phone again and loaded NO apps but still the same behavior: when turned off USB C can charge the phone no matter which way I plug it, but when turned on it doesn't.

Power phone up with it plugged in. Does it charge then? I get that problem often. I've narrowed my problem down to when I start my car with phone connected on charge (using car charger). Won't charge after that till I restart phone. I'm assuming it gets over or under voltage and safety circuit kicks in until restart. In your case it might be a charger or cable problem (or combination of both).

I think the problem was the cable I was using, after a while it started doing some crazy stuff like saying that I was not using a powerful enough charger. After I changed it everything is working like a charm
I'm experiencing similar problems, but this happened to me after my phone totally discharged, i repost my experience:
Hi guys! i'm occuring in a big problem, i was wondering if anyone of you had this experience with this or others phones, two days ago my htc 10 was totally without battery and died, so i put it on charge, but nothing happens, no led on, if i try to power on, no signs of life, unable to make it boot, even after hours of charge, i noticed that the phone anche the charger were cold, instead of hot like it should.... but after hours, even without led indicator on, i trying to recover it, with surprise, it was hot, i tryed to power on, no signs, i tryed combination of power button and volume buttons and it booted into dowload mode, and after a millisecond it re-died, and booted normally with 65% battery. BTW from that point the phone is unable to charge if i plug the cable into it, nothing happens, but if i put the cable, when is off, it charges even after boot, i tryed to recalibrate battery but nothing happens....
today, one day later, it seems the things are getting better, i'am able to charge it without having to put the phone off, but i always got the message that the charge is slow.
Clean the connector on the phone, make sure it's nice and shiny.
Give the cables a buff up, reboot your phone.
Allow it to boot, connect the official HTC charger in the wall.
Connect the official htc USB c cable into the charger and unlock your phone.
Connect the cable to your phone.
If that doesn't work, try a different wall socket.
Are you on stock? Have you altered any voltages? Any quick charge mods?

If you can reverse the modifications you've done to it I'd be tempted to say take it back to htc and get it sorted. Shouldn't be like that. Personally that's what I'd do.
Well, I got official nougat update on my OP3 and everything is working fine. But I am not sure if dash charging is working anymore:
1, no blue LED, everytime I connect phone with dash cable and charger, I see only red LED
2, in battery settings there is just ordinary "charging from outlet", not a single mention about dash.
Anybody here with same problem?
Mine updated last night and I still get the blue light and the "dash charging" text on the lock screen

WIping userdata wont help lol. Dash has nothing to do with the data partition. Try a reboot ;D
I already wiped all data right after update. Tried reboot few times with no luck.

Try pluging whole connector into dash charger, it can happen.
Have same problem since yesterday, even rebooted, still slow charge. I will try the idea with switching to ordinary charger and back next time.
My dash charging is not working. stopped suddenly recognising dash charger.
oxygen os 4.1.0. (non rooted)
dash charger and cable working fine. checked with other op3 it charges as dash. so that is not the issue. I have two separate dash chargers and cables. tried all iteration. my phone does not recognise that dash charger is used.
charging spped is great but the dash charging logo does not appear.
for all out there factory reset does not solve this problem. did it twice. cleaned cache etc.
SAD. Great hardware supported by very poor software. wake up OP
Hey all
If your dash charging is not detecting (even with a proper dash charger and cable) please check if it gets detected when connected to PC. Mine did not detect.
There is a problem with the motherboard and it needs replacement. A quick trip to the service centre should solve the problem.
However with change in motherboard there is change in IMEI number.
Your not alone... Mine is messed also

Just try after reboot. It works fine.
Charger connection sequence probably matters
I am using LineageOS v. 14.1 (Nougat 7.1 based), nightly build dated 27-Apr-2017.
Also I am using microG instead of GApps (no GApps installed).
Phone is rooted with SuperSU.
DASH charge worked well. But once upon a time the phone stopped to charge with factory DASH charger and factory DASH cable at all. But it was still being charged with third party chargers via factory DASH cable. When I connected DASH charger to wall socket, charging icon on the phone appeared for a second and then disappeared. No charging were noticed, battery percentage continued to go down.
Reboots did not help.
But what helped is unplugging DASH charger brick from the wall socket and plugging it back in socket many times. Maybe 5 or even 10 times. After one plugging charger in the wall socket the charge icon appeared and stayed in place. The charging circle started spinning, charging percentage went quickly up. It surely fast DASH charge since LineageOS does not tell DASH 4A charge from regular 1.5A charge but phone gets 100% charged in about 1 hour.
Possible cause of this issue may be using non-factory low current 0.7A charger and factory cable for a couple of times. I used to charge my phone intentionally slowly over night to get it charged in the morning and not staying charged all night while I am sleeping. Also such slow charging helped in the past my old phone batteries to perform better.
Hope this simple unplug-plug advise helps somebody.
UPD 08-May-2017:
After 2 days the problem reappeared. Done 4 brick plug-unplug attempts with no luck. After one attempt (5th overall attempt) plugging USB-A connector into wall socket plugged brick, the charging begun. So maybe phone wants us to connect Type-C connector to phone, DASH brick to wall socket and lastly plug USB Type-A cable connector to brick. Consider to check this later.
UPD 09-May-2017
Plugged factory DASH Type-C cable to phone, plugged factory DASH charging brick to wall socket and lastly plugged USB Type-A cable connector into the charging brick. Charging begun immediately. Phone claims it will be charged in 50 minutes from 5% to 100% which is possible only on DASH mode. Voila!
Conclusion:
Before cleaning cache and reinstalling software consider just plugging original factory charger in right sequence: USB Type-A connector of cable to be plugged in charging brick last. Plug Type-C connector into phone and charging brick into wall socket before.
