LG G3 Bootloop in Download mode Stock ROM - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
First of all, I had a bootloop problem couple of months back but it was fixed by a battery change. I had rooted my phone and then put the stock rom by using LG Flashtool. The Software now is Android 6.0 MM
Last week my phone randomly died on me while I was taking a picture. The battery percentage was 82 and yet it was bootlooping.
I got a new battery and the boot looping hasnt stopped. I tried to do LG Flash tool and LG UP and LG Suite but my phone turns off after a couple of seconds in download mode. I tried Factory reset by using the volume down button but it turns off when the android man appears. Now it even stopped showing percentage while I charge the phone.
I really think its software problem but I am not able to do anything to the damn thing. PLEASE HELP ME! :crying: I am running on a S2 and that thing is grandpa generation!

This maybe related to a hardware issue take it to a reputable technician u already said it was related to battery ... A swollen battery could have damaged ur g3 internals

[Q] LG G3 Turning Off Problem

I have randomly started experiencing a problem where my device would turn off randomly which has gradually gotten worse to the point where it's stuck in a boot loop sort thing and will shut off randomly during boot then restart.
The problem started by every now and then (sometimes not happening for a day at a time) the phone would turn off then turn back on again gradually getting worse. The problem started when I installed the latest update during the update the screen froze (no it was not interrupted in anyway and done officially through the phone) so after leaving it overnight and it not progressing I took the chance and removed the battery. it then turned on and finished the update without an issue. The phone has since as I explained got into a 'boot loop' sort scenario where it will work if the charger is plugged in but couldn't be a battery issue as doesn't turn off if I put it into download mode. Things I've tried: Doing a complete reset- Still no fix. and now today I entered download mode and re-installed the firmware which was successful but still no prevail?! What the hell could this be?! Thanks

Maybe it's a hardware issue
hi, where did you get the firmware? it could be corrupted. if I were you I would download again the firmware and reflash it.
after that I'll do a hard reset.

Well i guess im not alone as i have the same exact problem as you do! WHich version do you have? I have the White T-Mobile version and i bought it the same week it was on sale i felt that i got a phone that was part of a bad batch because of some problems ive had with it but i didnt buy insurance for it. i was on LG's OS and it started to get worse and worse so i restored it and went to a lollipop rom. its still happening but it only reboots once. however, as soon as i start using apps it reboots on me. i want to unroot it but at the same time i dont want to go through the trouble of rooting it again. Any ideas of what it could be?
My problem just randomly started happening and i noticed this started happening strangely after my phone completely died on me and didnt want to turn on so i connected it to the charger and it started charging but had a yellow warning triangle somewhere on the screen.

Hey, nice to hear someone has the same issue, I however hvent had the yellow warning triangle come up yet, as an update all of a sudden it keeps turning off as soon as it boots even on charge!!!??? It just keeps getting gradually worse?! However I have noticed the battery % it shows when turned off is 100% and very randomly it displays 70% then when the phone boots it will show 2% for the 2 seconds it stays on before it dies?!

Wait now it reboots on you even if its charging? I too started noticing that with my battery . if I turn it off and charge it it and lets say it says its at 75% well I turn it on and its like at 40%? I really don't want to buy another battery but I actually hope the battery is the culprit. There's a guy with a G3 in my school I'm going to see if he let's me try his battery out on my phone I'll keep you posted

Hey sorry for taking so damn long on replying i've been busy studying for some exams.
I've got good news for you though, i took my phone in to T-Mobile and showed them my problem. Without me putting much effort into persuading them, they shipped me a new phone, and no i didn't pay for insurance on T-Mobile, this was covered by LG's 1 year Manufacturers warranty!
Anyways, I received the device but did not receive a battery. So i tried my battery on the new one and what do you know? SAME PROBLEM!
So yea you should either try to unroot the phone and take it to the store but don't mention that you think its the battery, they'll send you a new phone! Then just buy a battery online or call them after a few days and say your problem is still occurring with the new phone and see if they send you a replacement battery, im a little skeptical on this second option as id rather keep this new phone haha

Hi, even i am having this problem, my phone is a D855 and in my country (Mozambique) i am not using a contract so its different than US, we have a LG store here but in the LG website our country is not stated. So only way is to go to a trusted Store that repairs phone here. My question is that, when its not connected in the charger it just keeps reboting (the notification LED doesnt even blink) infinite times. At first i thought it was a software but after going from Stock to Cloudy to CandyRom the problem was still there. Then after i plugged in a charger the phone would succesfully boot up and i could use it normally but had to stay connected on a charger. So what have you done to fix this? Did you replace the battery with a new one and then it stopped rebooting?? Please help me as i want to buy a new battery but first want to confirm if its the battery at fault....

I hope my response isnt too late for you!
No problem bro! Got a new battery and do far my phone doesnt reboot, but the only problem i am having is that my phone shutsdown at 30% battery and when trying to turn on it says it has 0%

Im having the same problem gotba new battery and no different so annoying
Best thing just happened. I had the G3 for a while and my first one had an issue and had to get a warranty replacement. Long story short... I got two more G3s from T-Mobile that were defective and most carries have a policy where if you get 3 warranty replacements you can chose a different phone. To wrap it up, you can ask for a phone of equal or lesser value when purchased from the carrier (I bought mine off eBay and they didn't even notice, I spoke to several reps and no one caught on.) So they can either send you a whole new phone, a new battery, or in my case: I received a new LG G4 since I had gone through three which pretty much anyone can do with a bad battery.
Guys. Im having this same exact problem on my LGG3!!!
Expired Battery or Faulty Power Button could be the culprit
This issue just started happening to my LG G3 over the last 2 weeks. I've had my LG G3 for exactly 15 months and all of a sudden it started cycling endlessly and if it did get to my locked screen and i tried to unlock it it would just restart again.
I found that when I plugged in the device to a wall charger or high power power brick, it would halt the reboots but otherwise it would get stuck in an endless cycle of partial reboots (when it did stop after plugging in, I would find all my apps still open and waiting for me, so they weren't real power cycles).
One of my coworkers has a newer LG G3, so we swapped batteries and immediately he had the cycling issue on his phone and with his battery in my phone the issue vanished.
On closer inspection, my battery was a few months past its expiration (FYI to anyone with a LG G3 - your battery will expire more or less exactly as its warranty protection does!), so went and bought a new battery and everything is fine now.
For those of you who have tried replacing the battery and find it still occurs, another coworker said his wife had a similar issue on a different device and it was resolved by having the power button replaced, so it is possible that this could be a factor also and you should have your phone sent in for inspection/repair.
Hope this is helpful for some of you.

I've had the same issue since February, when my phone was about 17 months old. It kept turning off saying SIM card not detected. I tried replacing the SIM card and washing that area with alcohol with no luck. Then I replaced the battery with a second one that came with the phone which I'd never used, but I noticed no difference. It also has no phone service for several hours without my knowledge. LG just told me to reset the phone, but it looks like that doesn't work from what I've read. T-Mobile said they'd give me a new phone but there are no G3s in stock and offered me a Samsung 3, which is three years old, so I am worried that it won't be able to handle the software updates. It's ridiculous that a phone that costs this much won't even last long enough for me to pay it off. My last phone was an Iphone, which I had for more than four years.
I had the exact same problem a few weeks ago, posted a detailed explanation of the problem and got 0 replies and a few hundred views (thanks guys!)
Easy answer:
Replace your battery
Thats what I did, and the problem is now gone. When you do get a new battery make sure you drain it completely first, then charge it for 4 hours without exceptions.
I tried factory resetting, installing a new firmware, going to stock and going to custom but nothing worked.
The girl in the shop where i bought the battery surprised me, i just asked her if they had one available and her immediate reply way "why, is your g3 stuck in a boot loop?", apparently EVERY SINGLE PERSON that bought a g3 battery from them had the exact same issue.
Now the problem is gone, and my phone actually lasts longer than before.

Hey, I am having the EXACT same issue. LG G3 was stuck in an endless loop, replaced the battery, now it works down to about 30% and shuts off. When I try to restart it says 0%. I even tried a third different battery, and still getting that 30% shutdown. Did you ever figure out what it was? I am wondering is it something to do with how the phone reads the battery charge i.e. does it think the battery is dead when it gets to 30%? It has e stumped!! Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks.
wtf, actually same with my LG G3,after when I bought a new battery. Shutsdown at 30% and it says has 0%.

I think it is due to the marshmallow. ..my phone was working fine for 1 year until I decided to flash v30b and blue screen after a few weeks of v30b.
Now my phone cannot boot up, no download mode, no fast boot, no recovery

Maybe it related to the motherboard? I know about some lg g4 motherboard have bootloop error and lg is aware of that. ..maybe some motherboard of lg g3 is also faulty? Just that lg is not aware/choose not to care about lg g3 blue screen error

I think your right with the motherboard. Most people with this bluescreen of death didn't used the lg charger for charging the G3. Then the motherboard overheats and after more and more charges with the wrong charger it dies. Then only a change of the motherboard helps. I know a few people where LG changed the motherboard, but they still got there warranty. If you lost your warranty LG will say to you that its cheaper to buy a new phone, because a motherboard change is quite expensive.

Isn't any charger the same as lg g3 charger? I used to buy 3rd party charger to charge my s5/moto g and it works fine..
Unless lg g3 needs the orginal lg charger
i got the same problem... pretty much exactly the same time you got it... trying to figure out what the problem is. i was able to get into safe mode but now i cant seem to stay in it, it blue screens pretty much as soon as i get in
Any fix you found for this so far?
I've got the same problem. I never used another charger than the original.
I contacted LG and they just don't care. They said: buy another battery. I refused because I had given them a picture of the fault (green screen and also orange screen) My phone is out of guarantee (it's 28 months old). Now they let me know that they can't help me because it's out of guarantee. I found it very sad because I see many people have this problem. So they know this issue. Isn't it then a manufacturing defect?

LG G4 NOT stuck in bootloop but not booting past LG logo [goes off]

Hi all, ok tonight/this morning at work while on my break i went to do my usual thing of having food and watching a tv show via cartoon hd about 2mins in and my phone switched off.....now i thought it was dead so plugged in the charger but no led light, or screen on to say its charging.....i did a bit of googling and find out about the bootloop thingy buuuuut mines not looping, its swtiching on to the LG logo [i did the bootloader unlocker thingy etc so it says tha in the top corner] then it goes off.......i also get pulsing blue led lights too.....if i press, hold the power button after i get nothing, i have to take the battery out and then its rinse and repeat
Hi,
Same thing happened to me today. I was taking a shot and it switched off and same scenario. It seems that we had encountered an bootloader brick in which our device enters in some special bootloader mode in which when you connect it to the computer in the device manager it shows up as Qhsusb_bulk. I read the whole internet and there is a similar brick with G3 the guys were able to fix it. Even there is a tutorial on how to do this which I think is applicable to our device. I was able to install the required drivers and etc. but there is one big problem - I followed the guide and came into one serious problem - we need a special mbn file so we can recover our device and the sad thing is nobody on the internet doesn't have it still. There are many people like us who got selfbricked G4 and cannot fix it without this file. Please if somebody can help us please share the file so we can fix our devices. THANK YOU !

ive seen lots about the bootloop issue, but the thing is mine isnt doing a loop [i have to take the battery out/ pop it it back in, to switch it on then after 10-20 seconds on the LOGO it turns off

on G2 you get security boot error phone is detected as QHUSb_BULK. on G2 the fix was to enter download mode. in G2 vol up then plug usb.
using TOT method and flash tools . flash stock firmware fixed my soft brick.
not sure about the file you mention, maybe you do need it..

I have the issue. I don't do anything special but my phone reboot and stuck on lg logo. But now my phone doesn't want to boot. Sometimes he detect when I'm trying to charge it but often not. Yesterday I boot on download mode and recovery but today it's impossible... I think I have some hardware issue ? Or software with the bootloader...
I don't know how to fix that without access to download/recovery mode :crying:
Same here. Sometimes it boots into recovery/download but most of the times it doesn't. It's a hardware problem I think as LG officially confirmed that there were problems during the building proccess of the first G4 series. I don't want to sound bad but soon or later all phones built before october last year will get into bootloop. I was hoping it won't happen to me - I'm very light user with only light standart apps with no games and other heavy stuff, so the problem wasn't caused by overheating by heavy multitasking. Anyway it happened and I'm pretty sure it's harware related but if somebody can provide the tot and mbn files I will be more than happy to try the g2/g3 unbrick method. The main problem is that these files are not available for h815. I found on other forum tot files for other variants than h815 So if somebody have the tot filesfor h815 please share so we can try to unbrick our G4. Thanks!
same thing heppened to my g4 this week. i called lg last night and they agreed to repair it. i'd just gave them a call.
I sent mine for repair today. I hope they will agree to repare it even that it's with unlocked bootloader and with rooted custom rom !!! What you think ? Will I have problems with them because of that ?
Happened with my phone as well. It was rooted so i was hella scared if they didn't accept my phone. But soon they told me phone's motherboard has gone bad and will be replaced. Got my phone with a brand new motherboard after a couple of hours.
P.s. all your data will be gone

So the same problem just happened to my lg H815 with unlocked bootloader, am really f***ed without my phone, gonna call LG UK tomorrow, anything in particular I should say? also looking for solutions I saw many people are starting to have this issue now too - any official comments from LG?
P.S. if you have an LG G4 you should start backing up all your data now
This literally just happened in the last 15 minutes to me as well. Random reboot right after I woke up the phone and now stuck on the LG splash screen. Light user here, never did anything with the phone that would have heavily stressed it physically or computing-wise, so I also concur it's an inevitability for earlier runs of G4 phones.
Luckily, I backed up everything through TWRP last Thursday by chance because I was updating Xposed to the latest version and swapping to a faster 128GB microSDXC. At worst, I might have lost a handful of unimportant text messages.
Not worth the time to try to figure out any cheap fixes myself, I just got done submitting a repair request to LG.
I ordered LG G4 H815 and I hope to not see any kind of these issues

LG G4 H818P Bricked/Dead While using

Dear All,
A friend have LG G4 H818P the Dual SIM variant, While he was using Facebook the device suddenly turned off, tried to charge it with no hope, can't enter download mode or hard reset
He gave it to me for a try, i try the old thing with wrapping the phone in a piece of cloth and left it in freezer for 30 minutes - don't laugh - plugged the battery and the phone is working !!! started with LG logo with no successful boot to main screens just LG Logo.
Once the phone isn't a freeze cold it wouldn't turn on !! which is very strange , every time i leave it in freezer for 15 minutes or less it works !!
Will try now to enter the hard reset and do it, also downloading it's latest KDZ and will try to flash it but any idea what's happening and how can i solve it ??
Thank You

seems like infamous bootloop.. if under warranty send it to LG but it must be to the corresponding country it belongs. like if am in america then i have h815 usa wont fix it i have to send it to europe.
or replace motherboard yourself
Unfortunately it's not under warranty, he had it for a year and 4 months
So no one was able to fix this at all ?? it's very annoying !

why not give it a try.. they might fix it.. as it is a hardware problem that many devices are suffering.
Same here
Ok so I have the lg g4 h811 2nd variant after getting the original replaced by lg because of infamous boot loop problem, get the one that was redesigned to negate that error. So this Phone dies while watching YouTube and tried freezing it, discharging the capacitor, new battery the whole 9 yards. No go. New problem maybe? Touched a multimeter to all possible problem areas and it looks like the whole thing shorted out from top of board to bottom all at once because it read max resistance. The whole thing is dead unless someone has an idea to revive it?
same problem
i have the same problem here
waiting for some help
I have the solution if you guys are willing to take apart phone

Pop out battery
Take out screws
Don't bother with camera screws
Pry plastic
You will now see the motherboard
Get a blow dryer
Heat this part for 5 minute full blast
Do not touch actual chip.. But do get pretty close
Put cover and screws battery back in
Power up
If she bootloops again....heat it again
ops

My LG G3 D855 keeps restart (not bootloop)

i have my LG G3 D855 for about 1.5 year now. i had cyanogenmod for a year. Sometimes, i mean once at the month it has been crashing, you know lagging for 2 seconds and restarting but i had the same problem on diffrent phones so for me it was nothing. Last week it started to keeps restarting, i dont mean bootloop. It started to crushing. sometimes i could wright the PIN, sometimes it crushed when rebooting. i've changed software many times, did hard reset, even used flash tool to flash kdz of original version of my LG and its still being the same what should i do? Please guys halp me!
Sounds like a battery problem. Get a multi meter and test the battery voltage across the positive and negative terminals, it should be the battery's voltage rating to make the phone boot properly.

It's definitely a G3? Not a G4? Well I don't have any ideas actually sorry. Try get it into a different mode apart from system boot. Like recovery or download mode, and see what you can do with that.

I had a similar issue in this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/help/lg-g3-freezing-restarting-staying-boot-t3513239 but my issue turned out to be hardware related as replacing the battery did not aid (probably logic board issue).
Same here.
Started happening with Android 5.
Upgrading to 6 didn't change a thing.
Replacing the battery to a new original one neither.
Resetting neither, removing or changing SIM or SD card... Looks like it's an internal HW problem

I bought a new phone instead since my warranty was void already. The repair costs would probably have been ~ 200€ anyway (150€ for a motherboard + repair costs ~50€).
