[TWEAKS] vTweaks Reborn v2.2.1 [02/07/2016] - Nokia X

vTweaks Reborn
Simple Explanation :
vTweaks is a simple compiled tweaks that I encountered in my stuff. It gives a lot than you think, while having nice scripting in it
Tweaks that are included:
Better Performance
Better Battery Life
Better Net Speed
FlagTuner (For better Battery life and Performance)
BOOST script to free up RAM when you need to.
Trims Partitions (ext4) for some boost
Remount Partitions (Remounts them with performance improving options)
Sched Features Tuning
Gaming Lagfix
VM Tweaks
Null Kernel Tweaks
AND EVEN MORE THAT IS YET TO COME
ADD-ONS:
LMK Tuner
LMK Minfree Parameters Tuner
LMK Minfree is a set of parameters that sets the limits at which apps are killed in order to free RAM
Stock LMK minfree values are good by itself, but this aims to improve it to be better by fine tuning it based on your device's RAM.
zRam Tuner
zRam Tuner
zRam is a module of the Linux kernel, previously called "compcache". ZRAM increases performance by avoiding paging on disk and instead uses a compressed block device in RAM in which paging takes place until it is necessary to use the swap space on the hard disk drive.
Database Optimizer
Database Optimizer
Android Apps have databases in it. Optimizing databases regularly(not always) can improve RAM usage and CPU usage of apps.
Current Version: Reborn v2.2.1
PREREQUISITES:
'init.d' ENABLED
'busybox' INSTALLED - http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/tool-busybox-flashable-archs-t3348543 - Recommended
And of course, ROOT
DIRECTION:
On the current Version, It is compressed and turned into a single script (So no need to flash anything). Just download the zip, extract it and copy it to /system/bin and set permissions to rwxr-rw-x. Then go to Terminal emulator and type:
Code:
su
vtweaks
If you want to use Add-Ons (which are only available in v2.0+), make a directory in /system/etc/vTweaks name Add-Ons and put the addon files there then run vtweaks in Terminal Emulator.
Note: To update, simply replace the previous version (delete the vtweaks file from /system/bin) and set the correct perms (rwxr-xr-x) to the file, open it in terminal emulator and it will update itself.
If it's asking something related to busybox, please flash the busybox I linked above.
Add-Ons are present in the zip file. There are instructions/readme.txt there, follow it and you'll be good to go.
On Version 2.1 and above, there are binaries included, which are present in /bin folder. They are needed for some functions of vTweaks to work properly. You need to follow the instructions/readme.txt to make things work.

Thanks To These Guys:
@hoholee12 - for inspiration and ultra bashing
@sonickles9 - for his bash prowess and tricks
@Paget96 - i used some of his tweaks
@DiamondBond - for flagtuner
@YashdSaraf - for his great busybox (which I recommend for this script)
@FeraVolt - Some of his tweaks in FDE are present

This new Script is a little bit tricky, so here's some tricks Iv'e included in it:
Open Terminal Emulator
Directly Execute the tweaks enabled:
Code:
vtweaks -a
Boost Directly:
Code:
vtweaks --boost
Create Boost shortcut:
Code:
vtweaks -mb
Trim Partitions:
Code:
vtweaks --trim
Clean junks:
Code:
vtweaks --clean
Logging purposes
Code:
vtweaks --verbose
Version
Code:
vtweaks -ver
Enable init.d
Code:
vtweaks --init
Install busybox if detected
Code:
vtweaks --bbinstall
Check busybox installation
Code:
vtweaks --bbcheck
Check Device
Code:
vtweaks --device
That's it, thanks to @hoholee12 since this was inspired by his sched_tuner :good:

what does play store say when it's opened, or is it just white screen

it shows rh-01 error. I tried googling about it. did every possible step for solving that. even did a factory reset but it is always same.

[APP] One Click Lag Fix APK - 2.0 (UNSUPPORTED development halted)

OneClickLagFixV2PLUS inside the app is currently in RELEASE status. It has been tested on a fairly enormous number of devices without issue.
This is an APK (Normal Android App) that will install an EXT2 lag fix for you.
The APK itself can support a number of different lag fixes. It currently has the old OCLF V1 fix, which uses symlinks, and it now also has a new V2 fix which uses bind mounts.
This is in a new thead, as the old thread is very very long, and this is now version 2.
New features of the OCLF2+ lagfix vs OCLF1+
- Bind mounts are faster and require less O/S overhead than symlinks, making this fix smoother in everyday use.
- The bind mount allows for Android to report the correct free space available.
- If something goes wrong at boot, and the bind mount does not initialize, you will boot up to a copy of your data from before the lagfix was applied. This makes V2 safer than V1. (copying /system/bin/playlogosnow onto /system/bin/playlogos1 will effectively restore your device to how it was before you applied the lagfix. There is also an undo option, which will copy all of your changed data back to RFS before restoring.)
- As a bonus, an option to set the wifi screen off timeout is included.
How to use this:
Copy over the APK file onto your phone, and run/install it as normal using 'My Files'. There will be a 'One Click Lag Fix' app installed. Run that, and select the option you want!
The app will automatically kill all running tasks, and enable flight mode. You should probably not use the device while the lag fix is running. If you accidentally hit back or home by mistake, re-enter the app and re-select the lag fix. It should still be running.
Known issues in 2.0.0
Some devices with heavy carrier customization cannot install EXT2 Tools. Fix should be in the next version, if possible.
On Froyo (Android 2.2) this lag fix will refuse to install if the apps2sd feature is in use. The error you will see if Apps2SD is in use on installation will be that the loopback cannot be mounted.
Workaround: In order to install the lagfix on froyo, you will need to set each app that is on the external SD back to regular. Once the lagfix is installed, you can move apps back to the SD.
Fix should be included in the next version, if possible.
If you use up more space inside the EXT2 than is available outside the EXT2, you will have to remove apps/delete data until you have enough space to copy your data back when you want to uninstall. To help avoid this, don't set the space bar all the way on the far right.

Now downloading to test. I hope it will be great work.
Damn! Just when I decided to try out the stock firmware without any lagfixes. :-| Guess I have no choice but to succumb to your awesomeness now.
Will make a backup of data on my internal memory (just in case) and give this a shot on my brand new JM8 now

Hang on, looks like it has a bug! I did a clean firmware flash, and its just giving a 'disabled' message, because it seems to be erroring on trying to find /dbdata/ext2data/
I'll have a 2.0.1 up within a few minutes with the fix. Sorry! I need a QA department!
Good work!
Do we need to uninstall APK v1 before using this APK?
I guess yes, but you never know.
Thanks
Is this the app version of "voodoo" fix only with ext2 (the one you started testing earlier in different topic) or its old virtual file method?
Hmm, can't find the lagfix
Thx for readding it
lol ^^
Will report back in a few minutes

You don't need to uninstall APK v1 first. It will overwrite it.
V1 lagfix will need to be uninstalled first, but the uninstall can be done by either V1 or V2 APKs.

It was deved this evening now, completely in JPH. So yeah, JPH works. If anything else works is unknown!
Also, the wifi timeout option does not work in 2.2, only in 2.1 Android. I'll put the fix up with whatever other bugs people find in a bit.

[Kernel]Froyo/AOSP[2.6.32.27](ver2.0.0)MaxOC~1.84GHz,SmartAss/UV/BFS/SLQB/BFQ[Jun-19]

NOTICE: I am changing the title of my kernel thread to be clearer. ALL FROYO AOSP ROMS:
Froyo MIUI (Evil D and Gr8Gorilla Ports),
Liquid Metal Ports,
CM6,
G2 and any other Froyo AOSP ROM series
All Froyo Sense ROMs should use my Froyo Sense Kernel
All Gingerbread ROMs should use my Gingerbread Kernel
Hi XDA members and fellow MT4G users:
This is my THIRD kernel hack. I want to thank Grankin, Gr8Gorilla, Erasmux, dumfuq, Cyanogen, Zinx, Snq, Pershoot and several others I cannot recall for inspiring me to venture into this unfamiliar territory for me.
What is a Kernel? The Kernel is the Foundation in which everything else builds upon in any software system.
[Car Analogy]: Kernel is like the Engine, Electrical system and the Transmission to a car. The Library, Framework and the Apps [AKA ROM] are the body frame and the rest of the Car.

Updated Note: Newest ClockworkMod Recovery VERSION 3.0.0.6+ IS COMPATIBLE with this Kernel.
(NOTE: My Froyo kernel DOES NOT format EXT 4 file system directly -- Orange Color Text -- ClockworkMod Recovery 2.5.1.4 or 3.0.0.5, so if your existing kernel is using using EXT 4 file system, you need to restore back to ClockworkMod Version 2.5.1.2 -- Green Color Text --, then WIPE EVERYTHING include Cache, System and Data)
My goal for this Sense Based Kernel is to provide maximum Sense ROM compatibility, and only apply updates/patches/enhancements once I understand how they work and their cost/benefit to the kernel as a whole...
Please DO NOT use any task killers, they DO NOT improve performance nor battery life. They INTERFERE with your phone's stability (more crashes) and App compatibilities (Forced Close).
My kernel is based on the HTC source code directly from developer.htc.com.
MinMax Governor (Battery Saver)
This governor will try to minimize the frequency jumps/changes which cause voltage spikes/changes which supposedly drains more battery life... Supposedly designed to work with SetCPU... so give it a whirl...
SmartAss Governor (Balanced)
This governor has a built-in "profile" similar to SetCPU, so screen off will use lower clock rate thus conserve more battery, but it also has a fast wake up feature so that user interaction will not see the lag when switching from Sleep to Wake state.... (So SetCPU Profiles are sorta redundant when using this governor, you can still use SetCPU to OC to higher than default Clock frequency).
Interactive Governor (Performance)
This governor is designed to put more priority to User Interface (UI aka Apps) tasks, therefore appears more responsive then the traditional OnDemand governor. So if you want the smoothest UI interaction, this governor is for you...
Brain F*ck Scheduler - (BFS)
This scheduler is designed to be simple and speedy tailor specifically for user interface type systems such as desktop/smart phone devices where user interaction is MORE important than serving 1 million web requests at the same time (think of nimble desktop workstations vs large corporate servers). CM7 main line is using this as its default scheduler, now I bring you the same performance as CM7 with compatibility to Sense Series ROMs.
SLQB - (SLAB allocator with Queue)
This memory allocator is designed for small number of CPUs system (such as desktop or smart phone devices). This allocator is design to be simple and it is optimized for using order-0 pages as much as possible (order-0 pages are the simplest therefore quickest type of memory in a Linux system to allocate). Not all kernels are using SLQB including CM7 main line...
Fair Budget Queue (BFQ I/O scheduler)
This I/O scheduler is an improvement on top of Completely Fair Queue (CFQ). CFQ is fair in terms of time but not in terms of throughput / bandwidth, so BFQ make sure that both time and throughput / bandwidth are balanced across all requests.
Installation Instructions:
Here's a step by step instruction to install this kernel to work with Froyo based ROMs:
[ Aurum Edition ]
[ CFS-Smartass ]
The File ==> Version 2.0.0 CFS Low Voltage <==
The File ==> Version 2.0.0 CFS Stock Voltage <==
[ BFS-Interactive ]
The File ==> Version 2.0.0 BFS Low Voltage <==
The File ==> Version 2.0.0 BFS Stock Voltage <==
[NOTE]: If your WiFi driver is working but somehow are are UNABLE to connect, you need to apply the following Patch:
Patch 1: WPA_Supplicant
Post your problem IN DETAIL:
A [good example] of error reporting... (from vinsane)
Here's a template to use if you don't know how to report your issue
1. download the above file (via phone directly or to a PC)
2. copy the downloaded zip file to /sdcard/download/
3. Open ROM Manager and select "Reboot into Recovery" and select "OK"
4. Once in recovery, select "wipe cache partition", select "Yes", then select "advanced", then select "Wipe Dalvik Cache", then select "Yes" again. Once finished, click the back button to go back to the main recovery menu. On that menu, select "Install Zip From SDCad", then select "Choose zip from SDCard", then go to /sdcard/download and select the downloaded zip file and let it run its script.
5. Once the script is done, select "reboot system now"
After FLASHING, the first reboot may take longer than usual, please be patient (rebuilding cache structures)... After the first reboot, it may lag during initial load (let everything finish loading). Once everything is loaded and phone is ready for use, reboot the phone a 2nd time and the lag will be gone and everything should be silky smooth...[more detail]
NEWS BULLETIN:
Version 2.0.0 is OUT! Completely rebuilt from scratch from CM source code. Added many technologies back, added LOTS and LOTS of optimization.
BFS is BAAAACK...
Geek Talk Below:
Froyo AOSP kernels were sufficiently different from the HTC Sense Kernels, so I have no choice but to create another kernel for Froyo AOSP ROMs such as Liquid Metal, MIUI, CM6, G2 or any ROM series with AOSP roots...

- Settings are automatically applied when user saves any of these files
- Some changes require restarting your phone
- To check log to see if it works use "logcat|grep Trickster" from adb/terminal
Reinstall boot service, Reset settings, Removal instructions:
- If you install a new kernel that includes ramdisk (boot.img format like franco or leanKernel), you can either reinstall Trickster MOD, run "tricks install" from adb root shell or terminal, or apply this CWM zip from recovery.
- You can delete a configuration file, files, or entire /sdcard/trickster directory to reset to default settings for a file, files or all configuration respectively
- If you mess up and can't boot, say aggressive OC/UV , use this CWM zip to reset
- If you want to uninstall, use this CWM zip

No, it won't. This is supposed to be a unification for all the stuffs that one can unite on the GNex. I will try to create an app to do this along side of improving this script in the future.
TBH with the recent CM episode I felt this is needed even more, screw them all. My script or app won't include things that won't work with CM like what they did, I assure you.

It's fine, the mod is already written in a way that it can handle update like this with ease. If there's actually a new sysfs that isn't exist anywhere else, I will add it if I deem it necessary. If that were not the case I would be in for maintenance hell for every kernel of every dev's update .

You're welcome. I actually wanted to get into kernel dev before but it seems like destiny is a ***** and I am stuck with these, as I am not going able to find enough time to care for my ROM, this mod, the app that I wanted to create and a kernel to add to these. Ranting aside, I'm fine with how things are .
Where is trickster.conf?
Don't understand, I installed the zip, but no trickster.conf appeared in /sdcard...
Ok, probably a dumb question,
But can these literally be used on ANY rom?
Or at least any ICS rom?
For example, would this be useful on a moto atrix running ICS? (CM9 based)
There a few ICS roms for the atrix floating around and I just wanna know if I should share this thread with some of the devs over there?
I do have a G-nex that ive been able to play with over the last couple days, and its sweet! If I flash this mod, are there any noticeable changes right off the bat, or just after imputing a command through terminal?
Thanks, and nice job

Theoretically, it should work anywhere with an ARMv7 CPU and Android 2.3 or higher but this has been tested only on GNex varieties by me and my testers. Still as I wrote this for GNex kernels, this script of course can't change kernel features that this script does not have. Basically I think it should work but with limited functionality, to be sure just nandroid first before applying it. Still I do not support this in anyway so don't come crying to me later if anything happens and I won't answer question regarding this script and other devices further. I do believe it has some values for any device out there, but it needs ppl with some knowledge to tweak it.

[TUT] How to Optimize your CM13

OPTIMIZE YOUR CM13
PREREQUISITES:
CyanogenMod 13 ROM
Nokia X
You
First of all, this thread's purpose is to make our Marshmallow Experience better. I have been using a CM13 ROM and it's good, but it can never surpass Stock ROM in stability, smoothness and other things alike.
Now, assuming that you've already done all the things that has to be done on successfully booting the ROM (repartitioning, flashing Gapps, etc), we're gonna start .
TIPS
NO. 1
Code:
Do not use too many apps! I mean, we have a very low end phone right here and were aiming to make it better. Use only the apps that you need. Much less apps, much less lag :good:
NO. 2
Code:
If you're gonna have to flash Gapps, flash the [I]pico[/I] one. Since it's the most logical thing to use in this device.
NO. 3
Code:
Refrain from using themes. They consume RAM and lags the UI.
NO. 4
Code:
Replace Trebuchet(CM's default launcher) with any other third party launchers. *cough*Nova*cough*
NO. 5
Code:
Use other root solutions (SuperSU, Magisk etc). I had problem with CM su.
More to come
TRICKS
NO. 1
You're gonna have to enable developer options in setting (tap build no. until it's enabled). The go to Hardware accelerated rendering. Enable Force GPU rendering and Disable HW overlays. You can optionally tweak the animation speed if you like.
NO. 2
The DPI of the ROM is 240, which I think is okay for our phones. But on my opinion, the best one that suites or device is 220. You can change it in Setting > Display & lights > LCD density
NO. 3
Having only the back button working is a pain. We can enable the Navigation Bar by adding this line to /system/build.prop
Code:
[FONT="Courier New"]qemu.hw.mainkeys=0[/FONT]
NO. 3
Enable root in Settings > Developer options > Root access. Choose Apps and ADB
REMOVING CM BLOATWARES
Assuming you already have Root access, Install Terminal Emulator.
After that type:
Code:
su
Which will then prompt you with Root authentication, grant it.
Now, we can disable (not delete/uninstall) bloats using this command,
Code:
pm disable <name of the app>
Here's the list of what we don't need:
org.cyanogemod.screencast (Screen Recorder)
org.cyanogenmod.theme.chooser2 (Theme Chooser, we don't need it )
com.android.email (Do you use email?? If you do, do not include this)
com.android.exchange (Exchange Services)
All of the live wallpapers and Live wallpaper picker (i think you can find them on your own)
com.android.cellbroadcastreceiver (Cell Broadcast)
com.cyanogenmod.updater (CM Updater)
com.android.printspooler (Print Spooler)
com.svox.pico (Pico TTS)
org.cyanogenmod.screencast (Screen Recorder)
org.cyanogenmod.weather.provider (Weather Provider)
org.cyanogenmod.weather.service (Weather service)
BUILD.PROP TWEAKS
Next thing we do is to add these on build.prop
Code:
debug.performance.tuning=1
persist.sys.ui.hw=1
persist.sys.composition.type=gpu
dalvik.vm.dex2oat-filter=interpret-only
dalvik.vm.image-dex2oat-filter=interpret-only
debug.composition.type=gpu
video.accelerate.hw=1
ro.kernel.checkjni=0
profiler.force_disable_ulog=0
profiler.debugmonitor=false
debugtool.anrhistory=0
# more to come
KERNEL ADIUTOR
Install this one Kernel Adiutor and you can edit many things.
Go to CPU section, then choose ondemand as default governor since it's basically more performance driven that other governors (except performance governor ).

let me add some..open kernel adiutor...
1) change io scheduler...its most important.. better choose cfq bcoz default is deadline which means single task only...that is you can't pull even status bar while an app is opening!!!
2) my CPU settings ( to prevent overheating and greater performance)
choose conservative governor
then choose its settings and set
low/min threshold=65
high/max threshold=90
its just the best setting for everything

lol, most of the scripts inside it doesn't work. Placebo of you ask me. The dev(or is he?) doesn't even know what he's doing. Actually, the difference you feel comes from the cpu/governor something script, which pushes the cpu to it's limits. Every other script won't do anything, that's why they have another guy managing the beta thread because the orig guy doesn't know how to

4/19/2017 [] 7.1.1 UPDATE [] HTC 10 (msm 8996) [] CPU, VM, RAM, IO "Tune"

ORIGINAL THREAD HERE: https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/2-15-2017-axon-7-msm-8996-cpu-vm-ram-t3557392
This mod was originally created for the Axon 7, but due to several requests, I've modified a version for the HTC 10, please see below, and post questions or comments in the original thread above. Please state you are a HTC 10 user if you have feedback in that thread, to consolidate user feedback and speed up response time.
Custom tuning for a device is always a necessity. "Canned" settings will get you by, but they are certainly never optimized for a specific device. In fact, Linux typically takes a general approach to find harmonic balance in default settings that will, for the most part, work in an acceptable manner for just about any device. There are a lot of resources available on this device, so we should utilize it in a manner appropriate to squeeze out as much battery life and performance as possible without sacrificing much of those outputs, don't you think? This is going to fix that for you.
Here is what is required of you before you begin:
1. Must be rooted
2. Must have the HTC 10 OR a device running the Snapdragon 820, as this modification is not so much device specific, but hardware specific. The important aspect being the snapdragon 820 and the RAM disk size.
3. Must have write protection disabled. If the HTC 10 requires write protection to be disabled, see the code and instruction below:
Using adb shell:
Code:
adb reboot disemmcwp
Using Linux terminal (from your phone, for example):
Code:
reboot disemmcwp
Let's begin.
Getting right to it, here's what I've done:
- modified parameters of the interactive governor, and quite extensively at that (search some of my threads if you want a little bit of a breakdown of the general approach I take)
- reconfigured input_boost parameters
- reconfigured vm parameters (again, the device has a lot of RAM resource, this will utilize it and give you a far better user experience. Basically, I've adjusted dirty_ratio, dirty_background_ratio, swappiness, and other parameters of the virtual machine.)
- disabled zRAM for 6 GB variants (RAM compression, again, not needed on this device really, this mod will save you CPU cycles and power) this will not apply to HTC 10 users, you will still have zRAM enabled.
- remapped minfree parameters for LMK (low memory killer) again only for 6 GB variants
- Tuned CFQ scheduler for flash storage devices
- Tuned "core_ctl" module (needs kernel support, I recommend freeza's latest version of BeastMode. For those wondering, yes, you can still use this mod with the stock kernel. It won't break anything.) again this will only apply to devices that support core_ctl at the kernel.
In a nutshell, that's what we're looking at here. I can guarantee you this will have a significantly positive impact on your device. Turbo time, homies.
How to install????
Easy. First, the file we are replacing is found in /system/etc... it is the "init.qcom.post_boot.sh" file - this file is basically shell scripts, which are applied at boot via this particular shell file.
All you have to do is download the file to your device, open up a file explorer (must have root capability), navigate to the /system/etc folder with said file explorer, mount your /system as RW (read write), delete your stock "init.qcom.post_boot.sh" file, and replace it with mine.
After you've successfully done this, change the new file's permissions to rw-r--r-- (0644), and then reboot!
Or, if you are brave, you can do it manually via a terminal app and get your fingers wet... if you choose to do that, see below:
Make sure the file is located on the root of your internal sdcard in /sdcard, open your terminal app (again, must have root) and type the following commands, hitting enter after each one (be careful to pay attention to the spacing).
Code:
su
Code:
cd /
Code:
mount -o remount,rw /system
Code:
cd /system/etc
Code:
rm init.qcom.post_boot.sh
Code:
cd /sdcard
Code:
mv init.qcom.post_boot.sh /system/etc
Code:
chmod 0644 /system/etc/init.qcom.post_boot.sh
I don't want credit, don't need you to give or offer donations, this is purely for the community in the spirit of Linux ideology. All I ask is for you to hit the thanks button :good:
That's pretty much it, guys. Enjoy!

It will provide you a good boost in battery life without sacrificing performance.

Hey guys, file is up, with instruction on how to install.
There were actually a lot of typos in the stock file from HTC
I cleaned up the file from redundancy, fixed a few things while adding my modifications to the file. For those wondering, YES the file is supposed to much smaller as a lot of unneeded code was removed that was specific for other SoC's.
Enjoy, feedback is welcome, but I can guarantee your experience will be postive results.
Phone booted, will be testing over the next few days

Well, I should have probably told you that CM-based ROMs don't have this file. Lol.
If you are an experienced user, you can add this to init.d
Using this without any problems, on top of ex kernel modifications and using PNP tweak v23. Do all of these play nicely together?

I'm not an "experienced user" per-say but basically we take your edited init.qcom.post_boot.sh file and move into init.d (I'm on LOS ROM) folder and re-name and set permissions correctly?
I have re-named to 01init.qcom.post_boot
I'll upload a screenshot shortly to show what I have done.
Also, will it matter the kernel and write protection?
I'm assuming that I don't need to bother with it since I was able to move and edit this file?

Yep, should be good. Make sure you leave your original stock file in /system/etc however... and line out any conflicting code in that stock file.
init.d loads during boot, as opposed to post boot, so any conflicting code with be overwritten after the .sh file executes (around the time you start seeing your lock screen)

Using LOS, you're good to go, as the file doesn't exist in /system/etc
Toss it in /system/etc/init.d and remove the .sh extension, good to go.
