Can anyone tell me why I can't get OTG to work on my tab pro? I plug in the OTG cable and it says usb connected but then it disappears and no matter what usb device I try it doesn't read it. I also tried the dual usb with the micro usb and it does the same thing. I have bought several otg cables, otg y cables, usb hubs, and dual usbs. None of them work. I also have all usbs formatted to fat32. Keyboards and mouses don't work either. Everything I have bought and tried works perfect with my Note 5 phone. I have also tried all the usb otg apps you can download for free in the play store. I even rooted my tab pro and it still doesn't work. Any ideas how I can get it to work on my tablet? I have stock firmware and stock kernel that has been rooted. Tried CM12 and didn't work on that either so I went back to stock firmware.

So after painstakingly searching around for an answer on how to get OTG working on the galaxy s2 running a custom ROM and Kernal with little to no help i finally figured it out:
You will need:
OTG Cable ( Micro USB Host cable) (store bough or home made work, i followed this link: http://highonandroid.com/android-howtos/how-to-make-otg-usb-host-cable-for-galaxy-s2-or-xoom/ )
A Kernel that supports OTG ( I'm using { and could only find } http://www.gokhanmoral.com/gm/2012/05/06/siyahkernel-v3-2rc1/ , there is an update to this kernal , but i have not tested the OTG support yet (May/7)
And last but not least, USB Host Controller APP : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=hu.sztupy.android.usbhostcontroller&hl=en
Procedures :
1. Install the kernel by flashing it through CWM
2.Install USB Host Controller App
3. Restart phone
4. plug in usb device into OTG cable
5. Plug in OTG Cable to phone
6. TADAA
if you have any questions feel free to PM me or post a reply...
i had to change the steps from the link to make the OTG cable to make it work!!!
Homemade Cable Troubleshoot:
my cable was a samsung USB U2 cable, i dont know if this makes the biggest difference. but you want to short ( connect) pins 4 and 5.. one of the 2 solder points is the black wire from the usb cable ( ground) and if yours doesnt work with the pin he says to use, you can try plugging in a usb device into the cable and have the wire connected to the ground and simply probe the other pins until you find the pin that works! ( DO NOT CONNECT BLACK AND RED I REPEAT DO NOT SHORT BLACK AND RED, YOU WILL FRY YOU PHONE AND I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS, THIS IS YOUR WARNING!!!)
This kernel can work with Galaxy s2 duos tv gt-s7273T ?
I,m trying enable the OTG to my s2 gt-s7273T
This is possible? Using Jelly Bean 4.2.2 stock rooted
With busybox installed .
Please if possible help me
WOW! I have a faulty micro sd card so I could only backup to internal storage. Saw your post which reminded me I have an OTG cable that I use for my Note 4, I'm using CM11 and "hey presto!" CM11 recognizes external USB, no apps needed, I could/can make backups, Love my CM11
Glad I saw your post, Many Thanks, and Kind Regards!!
Today I first used an OTG adapter, after last week OTA update, but to my surprise it no longer works.
I've tried with a couple of different adpaters, with mouse and USB drive that previously worked, but neither one works now.
Can anyone confirm? I'm on stock 2.20.40.58, bootloader locked, no root.
EDIT: Now it seems that my phone isn't even recognized in my PC ( I'm at work at the moment, and I used a couple of generics microUSB cables, with the same results ), only charging works fine. Did something broke? Or it is just me
I'm on the same firmware version and I can confirm that USB OTG works. Also the phone and external memory card are detected when a USB cable is plugged. in(tried 2-3 generic cables as well as the ASUS cable). You may want to update your USB drivers for the PC to see if the phone gets recognised.

Thank you, now I'll check it more thoroughly when I get home.
I've managed to replace the USB board, and now OTG USB is working back, the phone is recognized on PC, but says "Device descriptor request failed" (I've tried with W10 on two different PCs, same results). A thread in ZenTalk mentions the issue in a Zenfone 5, but did all with no resukts
Hello everyone!
I have got a Galaxy S4 Mini (I9192) and I try to connect my PS4 controller to it, in order to use PS4 modded remote control app, but the phone does not recognise it. I use CM13 latest build by @csendre , custom kernel by @DarkFrenzy and TWRP 3.0.2-1 by @ne0zone75 as well, but I cannot control the phone through my controller. Inside TWRP, in mount option, I cannot enable USB OTG, and using OTG Troubleshooter app, it has crosses on two last lines (not recognized by Linux and not recognised by Android). I have also connected USB flash drive without any luck... So, is there any way to use USB OTG or is it a hardware limitation of the phone?
Thank you a lot!

I did not use a controller with the S4 mini, however I used USB OTG functions with no issues, but you need to supply power so use a Y cable. Our hardware can not supply power through the USB port
Hello, I'm sorry If it is a wrong section, and if it is please move it to correct section.
So, I searched all the internet to fix it, but nothing could help me so I decited to make a post because i spent 10-15 hours to fix it but i couldn't.
Ok, my problem is with usb otg. When I plug the cable to the tablet and when I put in the cable: keyboard, mouse or pendrive it does not work. The microport in my Nexus is totally fine I can charge him and send files from PC to my tablet and everything is working properly. Today I changed my android 5.0.2 to Cyanogenmod 11 [android 4.4] when i tried to plug usb otg in my nexus with the keyboard connected it's working and i didnt have the idea how could it be, i tested the pendrive and mouse, everything was working but when i tried back to my keyboard it just didn't work anymore and I did nothing with this, just was testing the otg with the rest of the devices. Keyboard doesn't work so I tried to plug the mouse or pendrive to see If the problem is with the keyboard but everything just stop working. Usb otg cable is working fine and the rest of the devices I tested them on Sony Ericsson 2.3.4. I tried to make a factory reset, delete all the data on my nexus and then install on the clean tablet this cyanogenmod 11 again but when i did it and when i tried to plug in my tablet it didn't work anymore. I tried really everything upraging him to Cyanogenmod 14, or Stock android 6.0, 5.0, 4.4 but nothing .. But i remember when usb otg was working fine and i didnt remember what i did why otg stop work I could have change something in my ROM flashing add'ons or something like this I think. However sometimes usb otg was working randomly just for once until I plug it out / or turn off the device. I have no idea what is happening with my Tablet Nexus 7 2013, I have hope you guys can handle this, because I am totally out .. Sorry for this long story but I couldn't make it shorter as you see it is a weird accident, and also sorry for my english, hope you understand and help me get out of this.
PS: Also I remember when I flashed the ElementalX kernel and choose the USB OTG + Charge option and then install it maybe this is what I did to stop this work maybe it could help but I was installing new roms, wiping device etc. But maybe it had influence to a hardware?
I can say it's looks like the power is not sending from the Tablet to the device connected throught the otg sometimes it works but sometimes it doesn't (like a diode on a pendrive or light from the mouse). I don't know If I am in good way to understand this problem and find a solution..

Your problem seems simular to what I had.
If you are sure the software settings are ok and that doesnt work, remove the backcover remove the battery connector, put it back again and see if that works. Does charging work?

Thats weird my s2 tablet has USb problems to. It stopped reading OTG usb connections and the PC. However it is always able to charge. I have noticed that when it does finally read on the PC it seems like the drives dont switch right and my battery wont charge. It got to the point I dont even try to plug it into a pc or USB otg just incase it quits charging I have SD card and twrp for installs so I use that instead. Most be a problem with the usb port and drivers.

I dont know the answer nor the solution.
What I noticed however is that I used my tablet as an monitor for an USB web cam.
The problem (charging but not being able to connect to PC) started AFTER I removed the webcam.
The app I use (USB Camera Pro) has an option "remove camera safely"
If I use that option everything works fine but if I remove the cam cable without pressing this option I cant connect to my PC anymore and have to unplug the battery.
I am having a similar issue and would be grateful for help. My Tab T815 has a clean install of the latest Android 10 Rom and Pico Gapps via TWRP 3.4. All seem to be working great apart from the USB OTG. Specifically, I am trying to connect my DJI Mini drone controller and it's not registering it plugged in. I also have Android 10 on a galaxy S5 and have no issues at all when I connect the DJI controller to the phone. I have run a diagnostic app that says OTG is compatible with the T815 so am now at a loss on what to try next. Could this be an issue with the Rom?
