Hey guys, I'm having some issues with my rear camera in custom ROMs.
I've tried AOSP, XenonHD, and Fulmics, and they all let me use the front camera, but I can't switch to the back camera. When I'm using the stock MM ROM I have no problems.
I am using the Fido D852.
Thanks in advance.
I have the same problem, did you solve it? Any suggestion?
Same problem here on D855

Fulmics got an update and it fixed it, still issues with vanilla Android ROMs though.

Are your guys' G3s newer? I think the camera might be slightly different on newer G3s. It should say on the box. On mine its says Manufacture Date 02/16

Yes, mine is a new one sent by LG in warranty period. LG phone from app says is manufactured 08/16. As you, I think the camera is different. And I forgot to say that the torch don't work either in AOSP ROMS, the icon doesn't appear, so the camera and the flash aren't detected by the software. Maybe a drivers problem?
I will stay in Fulmics where everything works waiting for more info about this issue.

It looks like a bad sensor. Is it happening consistently in different camera apps? What happens if you try a camera app such as Camera360 that lets you alter the ISO (in normal mode)?
If possible, can you upload samples taken against a solid white background under even lighting?
Please, anyone??? i have the same problem.... i've changed the camera, still fail
sounds like a hardware issue gents.

I had the exact same issue on HTC G2, it's indeed hardware. The great news is it's just a mechanical issue: Push on the camera, perpendicular to the battery case (straight into the phone). It will fix this issue.
Lots of success with this method at androidforums. I cannot post a link, but google "androidforums evo camera 152727"
Cheers

+1. I had this with all three of the G1's I owned, and I had it with my G2 not too long ago. Not sure why this keeps happening, but just put the phone screen down on a table, and push down on the camera. One of the strangest fixes ever but hey, whatever works!
I just rooted and s-offed my brand new m8. I have seen stuff from the International m8 forum and on the Verizon forum about Jishnu's camera mod, and it looks interesting.
Has anyone flashed it on their T-Mobile device? Any reports back would help
Thanks!

I've had it flashed for nearly two months. It works exactly as advertised on my M8 running the ARHD rom. I doubt there would be any issue running it on a stock rom as well.

Flashed it on top of skydragon and everything seemed to go fine. The only problem is when I go to pano 360 I don't have a capture button. There's this Grey rectangle on the screen as well. I tried to take a screen shot but it didn't work. Do you have this problem?

What you are seeing is intentional, that's how the panoramic camera works. It wants you to line up the center of the shot on that rectangle and then you'll see the rectangle start to fill up red. Then you move onto the next shot and it auto captures for you.

Haha, I didn't actually know this until I opened up the pan360 camera to see if I got the same error. I was just moving my phone around when it seemed to 'lock on' and the rectangle started turning red. So I learned something new today too.
I flashed it on my stock Rooted T-Mobile M8, but the camera crashes. Restored a backup, and now my camera is working again but I couldn't test out the camera mod. Any ideas as to what might be wrong?
I was incorrect in my first statement, the modded camera will not work on stock. It has to be used on a deodexed custom rom. I tried to use it on Fenny's deodexed/prerooted ROM in this forum but it wouldn't work. I guess it was too close to stock. Asked in the camera mod's thread why it wouldn't work on a deodexed stock rom but received no feedback.
I've read through the forums a bit and have not found an answer to my question so here goes.
I flashed CM12.1 on my D850 a few days ago and love it. Thing is all the different camera apps available that I have tried suck except for Oppo. Still it is no where near equivalent to the stock camera app. Would it be possible to make a driver for the stock camera app that would work with CM12.1 or even other stock roms? If so how would you go about doing that? What would be needed? I have used Xcam for the stock rom and really like that camera app. How hard would that be to port over to CM12.1? The Stock ROM that comes on the G3 is not all that bad but I personally love android when it is in its truest form, but I also like a good camera.
If nothing about can happen are there any custom Stock Roms? Rom's that would allow use of Xcam or stock camera but still allow the level of customization?

With all due respect but this question has been asked around a thousand times, in hundreds of threads.

No, missing LG framework = no stock camera possible on AOSP roms.

Hey thanks for the respones and yes I know the question has been asked I guess I wasn't clear enough in what I was asking. I meant would it be possible to add what is needed to get the camera to work? Like pick apart the parts of the framework that is needed and integrate it into cm12.1. That would allow the addition of a few cool features of the lg stock rom

You do realise it makes no difference right

That really doesn't matter to me. I am more interested in the quality of pictures and also the burst capabilities of the LG app
Anyone that what's to going this project is welcome. This project involves finding a way to install the stock camera to asop ROM (like CyanogenMod,blisspop...)
Please help with framework.
alot of developers said it is not possible because it is too much complicated framework and also LG wont release all of their source code so its basically impossible right now

Even if you can, that would not be stock camera... That would be another port like Moto camera, snapdragon camera, lenovo super cam and none of these are even close to stock quality... So what's the point if it's not stock it doesn't matter...

alot of people dont get it
the orinal rom is using bin files that are close source and only working for that rom ,
so to port it , you need to port all of it , not just the app( only app is easy) but getting the whole framework to run a hell.
you can port the app , but will have no effect noone will -> because it has no effect
porting all files , is hard its closed sourced
and building a stock app for cam is the same as downloading any other app from market (you don't have the source for all de features you get with the normal rom)
and witch cam work best depends on the user , but i guess that a lot will say stock is better
eh
I wouldn't worry about it, you don't miss out on all that much anyways. Just a few features are not usable through generic camera apps. I personally use the Google Camera app and love how it works with my G3 on AOSP (BlissPop 3.4); though, I do notice a slower focus time due to no laser focusing.

This thread hurts my head.
This phone has been out for a year and a half, there's been millions and millions of man hours gone in to developing, tweaking and messing with the workings of this phone, yet there is still no camera that matches the quality of the stock camera on AOSP. Just accept that it isn't possible and likely will never be possible like it was mentioned earlier.

Hi guys,
Is there anyway to get the back camera lens replacement in India? If I switch it with any other lens like my old phones will it work?
The camera quality is horrible, to that of a 3 megapixel camera and it's all because I have so many scratches on the lens :crying:
Thanks for your reply

Only STOCK ROM knows how to 'talk' to the camera properly. CM based ROMs cannot. It's that simple. If camera quality is really important there is no alternative other than using stock ROM.
