Hi,
I would like to install custom recovery on my LG G3. The model is LG-D852 with Android 6.0 Marshmallow Version.
I first followed that tutorial : lgg3root.com/lg-g3-root-tutorials/how-to-install-cwmtwrp-recovery-on-lg-g3/ though the Android version used is older.
So, I went to Lgg3root.com (lgg3root.com/cwmtwrp-recovery/) to try finding the good version for my cellphone and I flashed the .img file using Flashify. However, when I try to boot in recovery mode, my screen stays black and the LED switches from red to blue until I boot it normally. I used twrp-2.8.0.0_d852-signed.img (downloads.codefi.re/thecubed/lg_g3/bump/).
How can I install custom recovery on my phone?
*I'm using a canadian LG G3, I read that it makes a difference.
Thanks!

Try flash what ever recovery you're (cwm or twrp) using again from within the recovery.

we need more information: Questions, when did this happend, just booting it normally or after flashing a rom or restoring an image? Also, if you flash/restore, which rom? Many times the roms will work with all Optimus G pro versions but you have to manually load your modem, in this case your modem would be for the F240. You can download your modem (google your modem model you will find it) and copy it to your SD card then flash it
other questions: have you rooted? did you flash CWM or TWRP?
This all assuming this happend after you flashed a rom. If you didnt then you just might have to do a factory wipe/recovery.
Lets us know and we will help :cyclops:
Anyone that's stock in the recovery loop, try flash the recovery and then reinstall the rom and the gapp files first. This is much easier, and it works for me every time. It's much easier than try flashing the OEM ROM with the flashing tool, and then flash the custom ROM again. All you have to do is find the zip file of which ever recovery you're using, loop back to the recovery, flash the recovery zip file, then the custom ROM and the gapp, reboot, vola! You have just fixed the dreaded recovery bootloop error.
Hello,
My phone has stock Lollipop on LG G3 AT&T D850, and today I tried to install CM12 on my phone.
I used the official TWRP App to install the latest recovery for D850, and after that the phone got stuck at the black screen, with red/blue indicator blinking forever. I can boot to the system normally after pressing VolumnDown+Home, but now my phone is so messed up! I cannot even flash my phone to the stock ROM under Download Mode, because the recovery is broken! I later tried Flashify and different recovery editions, but it is still the same thing.
There is not a good recovery image for LG G3 D850 5.0 so far, at least for me. Please help! Thanks so much!

Yes, I can still use the phone. I cannot factory reset or FlashTool reset because the download mode is gone.
Same here. Rooted D855 with one click and tried to flash TWRP with official app from Play Store. Failed and rebooted to recovery. Now I only see blue and red blinking led.... damm...
Did you two flash twrp on stock rooted 5.0? Grats, you have ignored all warnings that were posted in these "how-to-root-5.0" threads.
Download stock recovery.img, flash it (you can do it even via flashify), be happy.
Hi YaDr,
could you specify which recovery.img you mean? possibly with a link?
i have to admit that i was stupid as well
N00b needing some help. It seems I have corrupted the recovery on my rooted G3 VS985. Used TWRP Manager to flash TWRP. Followed the app's instructions, installed BusyBox, applied the KitKat/Lollipop patch, went ahead and flashed. Booting into recovery just gives me a black screen and blinking blue and red LEDs. Since I'm not an expert, I'm a little paranoid to continue.
If I use bump to flash TWRP, will that wipe the corrupted file and flash a working version of TWRP (assuming I don't eff it up)? I've also seen root methods for the G3 that install TWRP as well. If I unroot and reroot with one of those methods with a bum recovery, will I brick my device? Sorry for the n00b questions, and I appreciate the help!

I have d851, looking for another alternate solution for the corrupted recovery. please help.
Same issue
Same question here also. Updated twrp from twrp manager playstore app now when i enter recovery i get black screen and boot security error. Other than that i can go to download mode easily and can boot my device to android cloudy g3 without a hitch the only problem is that i can no longer use recovery
hey i tried flashing bump twrp recovery d855 img and it successfully flashed, but when i try booting it it goes to fastboot mode. either you have to pull the battery or type fastboot reboot-bootloader to reboot. other than that everything works normally.
i am on stock kitkat rooted with Kingroot.
software version is v10x-ISR.
thanks!
i want to install a custom rom but can't due to this.
Same problem with my device of the same model
I have the same problem too on my D855 also with KitKat. I also want to install custom ROM but can't due to this problem.
First of all, I had a LG G3 (D855) with cyanogenmod 13 on it.
Since my twrp didn't work and i had a pretty old cm13 version on my G3, I wanted to flash twrp again and I used the AutoRec apk from this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/root-twrp-marshmallow-d855-30b-t3286268), because I couldn't flash anything in my old twrp.
After flashing the new twrp, my G3 could only boot into the twrp recovery, so I searched for a solution and fount this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/fix-stuck-custom-recovery-trying-ota-t2907508
I did everything like the guy said in the post and it didn't work, so I used the last command in his post. After trying to boot into sytem it didn't work, but this time I got into the "cyanogenmod recovery" in which im stuck now.
So the first thing I did in cm recovery was looking for the possibility to flash an image, which just isn't there. So I tried flashing the newest cm13 nightly through the "Apply update" option in the cm recovery, which didn't work because I needed Baseband version 21C.
After that I obviously tried to flash Baseband 21C, which again didn't work, because the footer is wrong.
So I surfed through the internet, when I had to notice, that ADB (and fastboot) doesn't work in cyanogenmod.
Now I'm stuck here with this ****ty cyanogenmod recovery, where I can do nothing.
I hope that anyone of you can help me with this problem
Can't you go back to stock with a KDZ flash? Just boot into download mode.
A similar thing happened to me, but it was a TWRP boot loop. I tried the LGUP flash of a .kdz file, but that failed, so then I tried an earlier version of Android using LG Flash Tool 2014 and it was fine after that. Then I just updated to latest stock Android and rooted with Kingroot. Can you at least boot into download mode? (power off while not connected to PC, then press vol up I think at the same time as plug in USB cable).
