Hello friends, i have just bough a firetv2 and i am having some problems with Neflix (displays with a lot of artifacts) and vevo (does not display at all). See attached images for clarity on my problem. the rest of the apps i have tried so far work well. and in the case of netflix, once i pick a stream, it displays as it should, the problem is in the menu section
I'm on 5.0.5.1 with updates disabled and not rooted. i will root when i get a cable, and then i will install TWRP and the latest prerooted rom
any idea on what i could try? i already deinstalled netflix and reinstalled, changed the firetv resolution, rebooted firetv

Try a different version of Netflix http://www.apkmirror.com/?s=netflix&post_type=app_release&searchtype=apk look for one with NODPI. Looks like latest one is OK. Sideload it.
Try your box in a different TV. You need "full scan" or equivalent. 16/9 not good. Don't choose 'auto' either.
Had the exact same problem, it went away after updating to 5.2.1.0.
I am on 5.0.5. Do not want to update. I like my Firestarter so installed this version. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3402834
Delivered by my Silver S7.
Thank you guys!! I went with 2.5.0 version and it worked (versions higher than 3 gave problems as well).

My Nexus 7 will be with me by Friday but I'm dying to know what the BBC News app looks like on it. Does it show the phone interface or the tablet one? I've scoured the internet to no avail.
Thanks
It says its unavailable and doesn't let you install it unfortunately.

Thanks for the reply. What a shame!
Give it a few weeks and I am sure there will be a solution, plenty of brits will be buying this tablet for sure.
I just tried the BBC News apk from my phone on the N7. It seems to work pretty well, widgets too. It doesn't rotate to landscape though.
The video links can be played back through your preferred media player.

iPlayer doesn't seem to want to play ball, notifies you to update Flash Player (which is blocked on the market). I already have the latest Flash Player from my phone on the N7, but so far I've just seen the spinning circle when it tries to play content. Will try again later when it's quiet.
The news app uses mp4 instead of flash thats why it works.
Try going to the iPlayer website on a browser you know flash works on.

Bump, working fine here BUT no widget. That is only on my phone, and seems to be missing from the Nx7.
Anyone know if the widget can be copied across from the phone (one x) somehow? I have root on both devices.
Failing that a decent UK news widget that can be stretched to a good portion of the screen.
"Plugged In" is an Android app done using Tasker. Actually I am a big fan of Tasker and the way it works. I even found lots of other apps which features the same idea but not the way I am presenting today. I even posted about this profile on my blog nexusandme.com about a month back and that became one of the most viewing post so far. So I then thought of exporting it as a standalone app and I am successful in doing that. Download link at the end of the post.
Features :
1. Media select dialogue pops irrespective of on whatever screen you may be on.
2. works even when the device is locked.
3. Tested on almost all OEM devices including tabs, working fine without any issues.
Just plugin and play.
Size : 1.1mb
What's New in Ver.1.4:
1.Added YouTube and Dialer apart from Google play music, mx player, chrome. Total 5 apps
2.Reduced the dialogue size that fits displays ranging from 3.5inch to 5.5
3.Scroll down for chrome and dialer apps
4. changed icons size to 124x124 HD
Installation :
Like other apps download > install and trigger it for the first time. Now try by plugging in your earphones.
Please let me know how's the app. Find it useful then share it with your fellow buddy's.

custom apps selection is critical.
only Youtube works cause Note 3 has diff apps for dialer,Google music etc.
Edit: OP need to be updated says v1.4 should be v1.5.
Thanks for the app.
Looks nice good job :good:
Thanks! Looking to try this out, and logged in for updates
Great app, but please add Spotify.
Hi! I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S SM-T700 with Android 6.0 Marshmellow and it has never given me problems, to this day it is still as fast and stable, except that several months ago, I can not play content from YouTube. When selecting a video, the only thing that happens is that it loads for one or two minutes and then it shows me an error message accompanied by a code which is always different in each video (even when I give it to "Press to Retry"). I tried everything, I cleared the cache of certain Google applications (in some forum I read that could work) I installed other roms stock of different versions of Android, I installed custom roms (Lineage OS, Resurrection Remix among others and for some reason, they all stuck in bootanimation), I tried even with other applications that allowed me to watch YouTube videos and nothing worked. In addition, this problem has affected not only YouTube, but Netflix and others. Over time, I have noticed that this problem is even worse, as it does not allow me to play multimedia content stored on the Tablet. When I started a video from the gallery, the application freezes and I have to force the closing. The same with the music application. By running a test, you can sign in to YouTube via Chrome and videos if they are played, but they are not played.
Attached two screenshots on YouTube trying to play the same video. Note that the error code is different even though it is the same video.

Hello,
I have a question about the Hisense 58" Android TV from Costco (model 58H6550E). I have used Roku TVs (namely TCL) and I'm very, very happy with them, but I'm thinking of switching to an Android based TV. I have a couple of questions:
- Is there a list of officially supported apps for this model of Android TV?
- I think I've read that you can side load some apps, but they may not function / work / etc due to some type of check that is performed (however, the apk can be modified to get around this check).
- Is this TV easy to root? Also, I believe I read that if it is rooted, an app such as Netflix won't give you 4k content due to something related to Widevine encryption.
Thanks in advance!

Wrong Forum, this one is only for Nvidia Shield Android TV BOX, not TV.

I am trying to connect a fire stick 4k max to a 5.5 inch 4k lcd (where the hdmi interface is provided by a MI-PI board). However, here's what i get :
While booting :
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
and a few seconds later :
The lcd is working on windows. Also, after struggling with display configuration, I managed to make the lcd work on a RPI 4, at the desired resolution (i.e. [email protected]). I am pretty sure that it should also work with a fire tv 4k max, regarding to the first image which is in 4k (I think), but with rotation and wrong pixel positionning issues; I had something very similar on RPI4 before changing some parameters in /boot/config.txt file.
I am a total noob at android. I tried however to set the resolution and the density via adb shell,
but it didn't work...
Any Ideas or suggestions? I can send some logs if needed. Thank you in advance.
Try FireTVs resolution cycler. Hold 'up'+'rewind' on the FireTV remote for 5sec, while in FireOS.
This will cycle through all the FireTVs supported resolutions and refresh rates. It stops on each one for ~+10sec, so it will take a couple minutes. See if any return a usable picture.
I don't know about an option in FireOS to rotate the picture. That's easier done in vanilla Android. That orientation appears to be a property of the display.
Thank you for your reply. Actually, I've already tried that, but it didn't work. I also tried to force the rotation using
adb shell settings put system user_rotation 1
but still havig the same problems...
