Hello dear community. I want to change to a cm/AOSP ROM but i dont know who to Choosing. I want a Stable rom with good battery life. And If You want guys , please share you'r kernel setting for best battery life. Thanks ( i have a medium usage with FB,messenger,Instagram,YouTube) not games.
Hey, when i use cm or aosp based roms i always come back to aicp because of features like aokps fling navigation bar. But all CM based roms will have same bugs as cm/lineage itself
I always use the kernel wich comes with the rom and i dont know about kernel tweaks and settings
This is a real personal choice. I use only MM based ROMs because of the issues all N ROMs currently have. I hope that they get those issues fixed and encryption will work some day but atm this all is a no go for me to go to N.
Regarding battery life there are 2 main components regardless of any ROM you choose:
1) use MSM hotplug (enable that with the app kernel adiutor)
The kernel needs to support that which is maybe not the case for all ROMs but you can always flash llama kernel which supports that
2) display
It makes a dramatically difference how much you increase the max brightness level of the display
There are thousands of other things especially logd process and Google services which could drain battery and there are thousands of tweaks out there trying to give you more battery life but my personal experience is that the above 2 things are the most important ones.

See that is just one more reason why Nougat on this device is not production ready ... Imho..
Edit:
I recommend RR 5.7 + llama + greenify (donation edition ) + Xposed to enable advanced greenify settings
You could also give slim rom MM a try in general forum..

You can try resurrection remix 5.7.4 mm I think is full and more stable rom.
For kernel I am comfiest too and try to found the good settings too.
Don't use N roms are not ready yet for me.
Good luck.

What are the issues on N, apart from encryption and video recording? I'm torn between 13 and 14, my inner self is not OK with running without encryption ;d

its not stable as MM. and has lot of bugs. no video recording unless you select api2. no xposed and its no longer CM its LAOS. and they building again like they started to build from scratch so i believe.
That's my question, apart from video recording I don't see any bugs. And they don't start from scratch, it's just cm with different name.

I just followed the cm thread since a while and saw issues but I don't remember all of them. there were issues with screen lock with f2fs with camera with Xposed and some more. What's left is my feeling that I don't trust in N for the moment..

Here is the dilema:
Currently I am using the latest RR5.8.5. It is the final version of Nougat and will not be updated. I am quite happy with this rom. The only problem is that I can not use the latest HDR+ google camera (always FC). It seems that the AOSPA is the best compatible rom with HDR+ google camera. But as far as I know, there is no quick charge feature in AOSPA. All the Oreo roms are still at the early stage with huge amounts of bugs. I don't want to return to EUI 5.9 (marshmellow) either since it is not officially supported anymore. Do we have a good rom with both QC and HDR+?
Any suggestion will be much appreciated.

Yes, I think all the Nougat roms are not developed anymore. The teams are concentrating on debugging the Oreo roms.
Omni FTW
Do you use Cuoco92 rom?
I do also have fc with omni
Just my take , I had onnia for a while however it was not compatible with all variations of Google camera. Switched to paranoid and got better call column and every single modded Google camera app I have installed has worked. Also quick Charing works great. While charging your led flashes letting you know it's in a wyci change state and when it goes back to normal speed your led.goes solid, which usually happens around 90%

"SOT?"
Can you describe what this means? it's not clear.
Edit: Nevermind are you referring to battery life?
If so, it was better with stock. However, in my opinion the stock rom was too restrictive. For example, I missed alot of notifications while using the stock rom.
Next, I installed Greenify with root using Magisk. : With excessive usage my battery life is at least one full day and with casual usage the battery will last for days.
With Paranoid, quick charge is incredibly fast. In fact, much faster than what stock provided.

thanks for reply , can u show how long SOT in paranoid and SOT in stock rom ?
Don't forget that we have BlackScreen kernel which works on many different roms. Its Alucard governor is very good to the point I ditched Advanced Governor Tweaks. It had idle drain issues but fixed since a few months ago. I highly recommend it.

I can but not at the moment. I just woke up and checked my battery that was fully charged 6 hours ago and it's still at 99%.
See screenshot, and I will send another one at a the end of the day.
FYI, I did not save any battery records from when I was using stock, nor did I make any effort to studiously track and graph out usage. My comments are based on my best estimated guess.
In my opinion, current battery life using Paranoid is better than any other phone that I have personally used and I have over 100 apps installed, including substratum.
I also use the phone for some multi-track audio recording, some games, a lot of YouTube and a lot of music listening.
I don't really pay a lot of attention to battery life because it is has been a non issue. Obviously the battery will last much longer if I am just listening to music or just talking on the phone.
After I installed, paranoid I noticed battery life was slightly degradated, so I installed Greenify.
On a typical day of heavy usage, the battery life will last from wake until bedtime: 17-18 hours, and still have 20 to 30 percent left when connecting it to the charger.
Next, I have not timed the quick charge. But I estimate that it will charge from 20% to 90% in approximately 30 minutes. Which in my recollection is much faster than charging using the stock ROM.
At the end of the day, it's totally worth switching from stock to a custom ROM. In my experience, Paranoid is a great option. I haven't tried the Omni ROM.
From what I have read, Paranoid is one of the few Roms in which everything works.
Although paranoid has 4 themes built in. Substratum allows a greater degree of control with theming. Again, battery life is very good and If you don't like the ROM there's many options. Plus it's very easy to just go back to stock.

Thanks, I haven't tried black screen, and actually didn't realize that it included such a wide range of governors. Personally, I do not really need to micromanage my settings and battery usage. But its nice to know that we have such an amazing tool available. for our phones.

Can someone please tell me what rom is the best for performance..
I dont care about battery..i just want to make this device faster without lag..
Can you all suggest me what rom ,apps, mod, or trick to make this device run smoother without lag..
Just use the stock rom for the least amount of headche. This is a low end phone by todays standards and I only use it as a backup phone for testing. It overheats easily and the cpu will throttle. Some (many?) custom roms don't do a good job of thermal management and the phone will reboot or bootloop.
Top roms (all nougat builds), I personally use DOTS and I've been using it for months.
- AICP
- COLT OS
- DOTS ROM

Stock MIUI is very bad for battery life and sometimes lags as well.
What I normally do is freeze some of the problem built in apps manually using the paid version if Titanium backup to improve things.

I feel apps like greenify, lspeed, ssdboost won't really solve the issues properly with stock MIUI battery drain and create more spyware risks. All of those apps can access the internet and if you use 2FA apps or banking apps, those apps can read keystrokes and seed data (since the hardware backed encryption/keystore is not working properly for redmi1s) and send it off through the internet.

But now Currently downloading 3 other rom, LinageOS14, ColtOS and DotOS..im gonna try using each of them..
ColtOS, Resurrection Remix, Mokee are based on Cynogenmod/Lineage so they are going to be similar and may all have the same bugs of LO.

I haven't used MIUI in a long time until recently but I found MIUI 8 to be acceptable after some tweaking. I uninstalled some spyware/bloatware - analytics, msa, mi* and the battery life was reasonably ok. MIUI 9 came out after I switched to LO.
Generally MIUI is going to be the most stable with the best performance for normal use but the battery life is poor before some tweaking. The cpu is slow and overheats easily in any case so there is only so much any rom can do.
i use AICP,n no problem until now..
HIi,
Read my post on DOT OS regarding ROM performance.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...cial-dotos-t3707240/post76388652#post76388652
I feel better now with lineageos microG + magisk v16. battery look better cause no google play service that full running in the background , and I can get some tweaks that I like in magisk moduls
"MIUI7" was the last time I used stock rom, and I don't want to back even MIUI9 (based kitkat)
still using XenonHD rom one week, and stable enough for daily use
Resurection remix and DOT OS are the best roms for redmi 1s
The requirements are simple – everything should just work fine. Requirements include games like Subway Surfers and such, browsing the web, YouTube and working camera. For me I am getting a Mi A1 or Redmi Note 5 Pro (I don’t like MIUI though but for the price I can compromise and it seems the best choice, there are no other options at that price, please suggest if you have other device in mind. Also in future I can Install ROMs on Note 5 Pro also, so yeah).
Below are my few ideas:
Stock ZUI EN 2.0.133 ST because it is more stable than Nougat variant. With ZUI I am planning on installing the Material Notification Shade app to fix the disappearing notifications icons issue but in my testing I found it to be using almost 50% of the battery, therefore I am scrapping ZUI idea. Also ZUI feels a bit cluttered too. If the notification shade app can be made to consume less battery then I will go with it though. I know ZUI with Oreo is around the corner but it's ZUI after all.
I am currently using AEX 5.2. It is quite stable but has good overnight battery drain, like ~15% sometimes. Yesterday I slept at 3 am with 82% and woke up with 68% battery at 10 am. Also there is the camera problem. I have been using the Modded GCAM and it is GREAT! Only problem is the videos, unusable slow motion and normal videos come dark and they are unusable as well. BUT for videos I use OnePlus’ camera app and it is good but I can’t see mom using camera without getting confused So I am ready to forgo the camera2api magic and install a non-frills camera.
So for Camera please suggest an all-rounder workable camera application that I can install in the system or as priv-app and also any suggestion for the battery drain.
I am looking at some other ROMs as well. I want to test some ROMs that just work. I have been hearing about ViperOS and H2OS for some time that they are great. I just need a ROM that will work, no bells and whistles needed. So please Suggest some ROMs.
If you have any other suggestion then please let me know.

In notification shade when you swipe the notification it stutters.
I don't remember about the heating issue though.
It was stuttery in general now that i remember, i had to flash Heliox Kernel for the heating issue and there was no improvement in the performance.
4.4 was quite good if i remember it correctly.
Anyways thanks i think i might revisit this ROM

I have to say, just ask your mum about her preferences of what she likes to use out of the phone.
And install barebone AOSP-ish rom with adblock/popup block/youtube ad-block on it. Then get her apps installed and she'll be happy. No complexities whatsoever.
Our elders aren't picky as us , my mum is using an LG G3 and its been on fulmics rom from day one, and it works perfect for her because all she does is follow up daily news, youtube, browse some internet, watch some episodes and thats it.
Also a 5.5" or 6" screen is ideal for our elders because of good visiblity of text etc.

Adaway for adblock (it blocks adfly links too)
YouTube adblock is Xposed module.

I'm using the rom as it is, with its own kernel (it's heliox btw). The rest is up to you, I'm using gapps pico, magisk just to have root and remove ads with adaway and gcam mod
just use viper os 3.1.1 with heliox 10/15 ..
Nitrogen OS Would be the Best! But there isn't any solution to Dark Videos as yet. Still you can use Proshot or Footej Camera for the Job.
I play a lot of PUBG mobile. So please suggest me some ROMs that have good performance and battery life and don't have issues with touch or audio via the jack. Camera and customisation features don't have high priority
just wanted to know the same.. I was on 9.2.13 for a couple of weeks and upgraded to masik 2.2 miui 10 based... Let me tell u that miui 9.2.13 was like a god of battery backup and pubg ....and now this masik has **** backup but its smooth
I would recommend Bootleggers ROM - a personal favorite. I haven't tried all the ROMs but this ROm has just enough customizations and smoothness to make it the best for me.

So far, ive been tried a bunch of custom rom on whyred like RR, AOSIP, AEX, PIXEL with custom or stock kernel, and all of them consume more battery than MIUI when playing PUBG
If you want long lasting battery when play PUBG without pluging charger to the phone when play, just stick with MIUI, it can hold up to 6hr playing PUBG compared to 5hr when using custom ROM. Ive tested this using 100% mobile data, not wifi. Maybe more SOT given up to 1hr when using WiFi
I think MIUI kernel is the point why the battery is so good on it but lack of good performance when gaming compared to custom. Maybe thats the reason.
Till now, i still testing on different custom rom and kernel to find some setting that close to MIUI battery backup.
So i suggest just stick with MIUI if you want more long lasting battery when play PUBG.
If you dont want audio or touch issues, use MIUI 9.5.17 instead the other. No ARB, loud audio when play PUBG, good battery backup too.
Hope you understand what im saying, i dont speak english very well.

If you dont want audio or touch issues, use MIUI 9.5.17 instead the other. No ARB, loud audio when play PUBG, good battery backup too.
Hope you understand what im saying, i dont speak english very well.

Already tried it for a couple days. Good battery backup close to the official MIUI rom. Little bit better battery backup on official MIUI. Need more days to test it with masik.
