Anyway to tell if 5X is an import? - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought one of Amazon, I have my suspicions it might be an import. Is there any way to tell?

It does but you have to pay shipping charges. They add some money to make it look like a "gift" but if officials check and " find" it, you gotta pay tax for it.
Also, check oppomart - it has 32gb find 7 available!

I hear it's the actual English ROM that'll be already flashed to it - try to contact their customer services.
Always make a backup of the original ROM before you flash your own ROMs.

Does Liaow sell the US/Mexican variant that has 1700 AWS bands? I'm on Wind Mobile in Canada, where you can only use phones with the AWS bands, so yeah.

Real Stupid Question

I'm a little confused on the model numbers, it seems there are multiple models of the h815. I have the h815t. This phone was bought off Newegg, unlocked. Is this the international version? I would like to unlock and root.
Thanks

H815T and AT&T

I'm a little disappointed with the reception I'm getting. I thought I was going to receive the European version. Not sure if that would make a difference. Is there a difference baseband I can faddish to maybe help?

I bought this off of Newegg. I love the phone. We went camping a few weekends ago and it was either spotty service or no service. I had brought my note 4 with just in case I had problems. The note 4 would grab 2 bars.

Possible. Will test and comment. Other than that, there is no way you can make it better.
Better to move to east coast or a city
Which is more important for you

I ordered the H815 version but received the H815T version. It does not have LTE here in PR for AT&T. I just wrote to the seller from eBay to get an exchange or a full refund...

Unfortunately I cannot return it, i will probably just sell it for a loss and wait for the new Nexus phones to come out. Damn same this phone takes outstanding pictures.

Should I buy a Nexus 5X US model for use outside US;

The ~35% price difference between US ans UK purchases of Nexus 5X had me thinking about finding a way to get a Nexus 5X from US.
My concern is, will I have any issues with the device, if I use it in a european country (I live in Greece)? For instance 4G not working or other connectivity issues.
What should I be aware of before making that move?
TIA
Greece uses LTE bands 3 and 7, and UMTS band 1.
The US version of the 5X has these so you would be OK in Greece.

Should be the same! I think most of the European countrys use band 1,3,7 and 20
You can see the bands for italy on wiki (I´m not allowed to post links yet so im gonna describe where)
search google for "lte frequency bands italy" and use the link List of LTE networks in europe.
Greetings
You guys have to consider warranty as well as exchanges. Might be cheaper, but in the long run could be more expensive. Don't you guys have 2 year warranties?

2 years here in Italy.
If you don't care about the warranty then I day go for it if the spectrum is there. You won't have a warranty buying an out of market one.

It's a risk for sure, but the price difference I think justifies it. My concern now is whether service centers for LG here in Greece, will service US devices or they'll respond that they have no spare parts for the US model.
That's only if nothing goes wrong. I believe if you look at LG Nexus 5 section you might be able to find your answer if the do cross warranty. Something tells me they won't, because it doesn't work the other way around. From what I have seen people who bought international versions here had to send it to where the device was intended for. Sometimes the importer might give a limited warranty or some sort of warranty plan you can purchase.

unlock carrier lock?

I am using MetroPCS. I wonder if I can buy a carrier branded version and then unlock it to use.

Sometimes it is, but not always. Amazon has the G8 listed and every so often it's on sale, I picked mine up for $499, carrier lock free, and besides Alexa it doesn't have any carrier bloat except for the normal LG stuff (Amazon specific version, no Google assistant button)
