Hi, i'm from Brazil and i have a Gnex from UK, and it's unlocked.
When i was at 4.0.2, everythings ok, but after the OTA update to 4.0.4, i'm having some problems if the data is turned on, and the option 'only 2g' is checked the signal is good, but if the data is turned on and i have 3G connection the phone lose signal, and baseband shows Unknown.
My Gnex is Yakju, and i have flashed the 4.1 (JRN84D) from here with baseband I9250XXLF1 and 3.0.31-ge8de0e2 kernel ( on the post shows that's a stock kernel ). And the problems still here.

I'm not 100% sure but I think your kernel maybe be the Developer preview kernel, the official is 3.0.31-g6fb96c9, you could try flashing that? It's what I'm running with 4.1.1 and it works fine.

The 4.1.1 is available from OTA, but when i press to install the phone reboot then enter in CWM and shows a message that de update was found, try install but give me a erro message that failed, i'm a new user on android, my phone was an iPhone.

No, when de signal is dropped i had to take battery out from phone, wait 5 or more minutes than put it back! If i put it back before i have the baseband unknown message on Config > About Phone. And this happens only if i have 3G signal, i see many people saying about signal issues after OTA to 4.0.4 and if i still with "only 2g" selected i don't have signal drop or disable the data, then i don't have any problem

If it's the status 7 error it's because OTA's require stock everything I think, including recovery.

Not sure if it will fix the problem, I think it's in the kernel you have as that's where WIFI is managed, however you could try and if that doesn't work change the kernel.
Instructions on how to update to official 4.1 are here however if you want to then accept the OTA afterwards when following Method 1 do not delete/rename /system/etc/install-recovery.sh and CWM will be overwritten by stock and you should be able to accept OTA's.
Note: If you don't want to lose your data then you could try skipping the "Wipe data/factory reset" step but do that at your own risk, I skipped it and it works fine though.

I looked through most all of these forums and couldnt find anyone with the problem im having. Not sure if it's me or what...
My problem is that when I flash some roms, my phone doesnt work. (yes im on sprint and only using toroplus). Well, yesterday, for most of the day, everything on my phone worked. When I got up this morning, It hadnt charged, and I lost my dialing again. Some ROMs I flash start off. When I go to settings> about phone> status under "Network" it says "unknown" and under "service state" It will say "no service" then checking on "Moblle Network State" It'll say "unknown"", sometimes my phone number shows up, sometimes it doesnt, Most times I cant make outgoing calls and when anyone calls me, it does a half ring and directs my callers straight to my voice mail. Is anyone having this problem too? And if so, how did you fix it? It frustrates the hell outta me and I think I should just go back to ICS although I dont want to. HELLP!!! :-/

P.S. I forgot to mention that Im on a Sprint phone and that Im running Houng81's AOKP Aug1 version Baseband: fg01, the kernel that came with the ROM, Ive even replaced them a few times and nothing does any better. Forgot to add this to my prior text LOL sorry, that just gave me away as a n00b huh? HEHE

Doing the OTA might solve it since it will update (i think) your bootloader to lc03, you still on kk15. If it doesnt, use fastboot and update manually. To run an OTA with cwm installed, you need to download the update.zip from dev section for the OTA you want to run, but do it through cwm (like flashing a custom rom).

I read in another forum that the "factory" folder is the efs on the Gnex, and maybe my phone was with this folder corrupt, if i get a backup of another Gnex thats everything is working and restore to my Gnex will be resolve the problem?

Well i'm from brazil, and i have a question, sprint is CDMA? If the answer it's YES, do you flash a CDMA rom? if you flash a GSM rom it doesn't work

Thanks for this post. I bought my mom a sprint gnex for mothers day, and sprint is pushing a 26mb ota. I put TWRP on her phone and rooted. Do I need the stock recovery to do the update, does the update break root?
Sorry, not familiar with Sammy or nexus devices, I've always used HTC. And the nexus forums are kinda hard to navigate because of the way it's split up.

Do not flash a GSM ROM on a CDMA device/radio.

I had update manually to 4.1.1 factory image, the bootloader has been updated, and the problem still here, maybe this is an efs folder corrupted?
If i get a backup from a gnex that all is working and restore will be fix ?

Alrighty .. I have an big problem .. So i got LG Optimus G E975 International version , and i got this phone from Estonia , as i live here myself.. so 3-4 days ago i saw this post where there is android 4.4.2 for LGOG of course i dumbhead thought that it works for E975 and flashed the F180L or S baseband .. and modem and everything it was the patch file.. so now the android did work .. it booted up and everything was fine but no signal! And then i thought well im just going to go to download mode, flash original KDZ with my IMEI .. and i did hard reset after flashing and the original android does work, but also no signal, then.. i thought i would flash the modem for E975 and i flashed the 10b modem for E975 and now i still dont have signal at home , or country places but on citys i do get signal now.. but i would want to restore phone so it works like it used to be, and have signal everywhere else too.. i can't think of what to do nolonger, but i would need the modem and baseband and other things from other LG E975 default rom , etc so i could restore my phone..
Ohh and im pretty sure that problems started when i used this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2762171 . And i was on that stock ROM before i started upgrading to 4.4.2.

That is actually what i did, after i was like: hell i don't have no internet connection.. that was first thing i tried to do, go and search for modem, and that modem works.. but signal strenghts are too low for it to work correctly, i used to have atleast EDGE with 4-5 bars, but now i do not even have edge on countryside.. and only 3G and it works only at citys, so that modem didn't help much.

Sorry mate, didn't read it carefully. What Rom are you using? Maybe tweaking build.prop would help.
I've gote the exact same problem. I think its an efs thing though. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP. Very weak to no signal after flashing f180 kitkat an returning to stock E97510H. Nothing i can do!
I own an E986 for one month, I bought it from Greece but it must be from Germany. My problem is that after rooting and installing many custom roms and stock roms I dont have 4g signal. I have tried everything, hidden menus, 4g switchers, flashing modems from allover the world just in case something works, flashing back to stock with lg flash tool, I tried stock 4.1.2 and 4.4.2, I erased APN's and added again......and many many more. Can anybody please help me? I will try any ideas, one last thing, the signal of the mobile carrier is depending only on the modem I install or are there any other parameters that I should try to flash. Thanks in advance!!!!

If you've flashed back to a stock TOT/KDZ and still have no 4G, then it seems like it cannot be any software setting other than APN configuration, and if you're certain that's right, then it could be worth it to try a different SIM card.
What else could it be? If you've flashed a correct stock image for your model, then you've ruled out software issues other than configuration, and if it once worked with the same software configuration (APN settings, etc.) then what else could it be but hardware, something tangible?

So what do you believe? Do you think that I have a hardware issue? But how on earth is it possible to have 3g and H signal but no 4g. KDZ is sufficient. I don't see how TOT would make any difference. Maybe you could try just to familiarize yourself with the method. I don't see how that could make any difference, but maybe I'm more ignorant that I realize (this happens often enough).
So you've had 4G on that phone with that same provider before? WIth the same plan? If it's not software, and not hardware, then maybe it's to do with the carrier? I think you can be pretty safe that it's not software if you've got a stock image flashed on there, and if your APN settings are spot-on. That would leave:
- SIM card
- Phone hardware
- Carrier
- ?what else?
If it's not software, as in if you've got a fresh stock image flashed, then what else could it be but hardware? Maybe I'm missing something.. dunno.
Have you tried the SIM cards in any other phone to see if 4G works?

To tell you the truth I haven't tried the sim to another phone because I don't have another 4g phone, I have contacted my carrier and they confirmed that I have 4g signal. Who knows, I cant understand how it could be a hardware issue since I have 3g and H signal, do you know if apart from modem is there anything else that I could flash in order to have better signal reception? For example flashing kernel or something else....

Maybe visit some cell phone shop and ask if you can ram your SIM into one of their phones for a minute, to test.
If you've flashed a KDZ, I don't see what else you could do, software-wise, on top of that. Have you ventured very far into the hidden diagnostic menus? I know there's tests in there for most everything, ones that show if you've got a 4G connection and exactly what detailed connection info is available.
EDIT: Oh, you can look into your service manual here. Maybe you could pull a MacGyver, yes?

I followed your advice, I tried my sim to another 4g phone and it works perfectly, I even bought a sim card from another provider just in case but again no luck, 4g signal wont show on. The hidden menu is something that I have discovered but dont know what values to change, I just checked that lte is enabled. My only hope is to find the original stock rom for Greece named e98610c.kdz I believe to flash it and see if it works, but I cant find it anywhere. My phone is from Germany though, another option I have is to find a second stock rom from Germany different than the e98610i.kdz, I have seen an e98610a.kdz, but I wasnt able to find and download it. Any help would be very nice, but thanks anyway.

I don't think so. If you've flashed back to stock with a KDZ/TOT, then you're golden.
Who is your Grecian provider? What are your current APN settings?

No unfortunately I couldn't find anything, I now flash some 4.4.2 rom from e988 just in case.....
my friend has a G3 D855, he brought it to tech to be rooted, the thing is it was Converted to D850 ( US Carrier Version ) then tried to mess it up, and ends up having D855V
it has no signal when i try to search netwoks, it was unable to connect
things i tried
- upgrade to lollipop using KDZ ( still no signal )
- downgrade to kitkat ( still none )
- downgrade using TOT file ( model problem, D855V cant flash tot )
- change cust.img ( still none )
dont know what to do at this point...

Same problem. To those with same issue, haven't been able to fix? I had my phone checked in a local service center, and they say I need to have motherboard replaced. But I doubt the hardware is the problem. Anyone have ideas?

Quick discharging of the battery/very hot I think is due to the phone constantly searching for network signal.. I removed my SIM while still looking for a fix, and this helped with the battery.
I can still connect to WiFi but other than that, it's not really a phone if can't do calls/sms..

Mate! Did you find a solution to this problem? I got my phone off ebay.in and after the lollipop upgrade the same thing happened. If you got a solution can you help me out as well?

According to their understanding and experience we should try flashing it with a d850 rom as they believe the phone is actually a d850 model. Would have done it but i don't know how to unbrick incase anything goes wrong. so anyone willing to try and if does let me know about the results

Well i just bought the phone last week. For me there is a lot to loose. Right now i'm just not getting signals. Rest of the phone is working perfectly wifi,cam, music etc. =p
Flashing with d850 will kill it, I tried and now dead, it was a d855 and became d855v after octoplus.

I have found a lot of threads and people reporting this issue. Bought a D855 32Gb from China that has this problem...
Phone tries to get signal a couple of seconds and then a cross.. and so on..
I tried everything I think, I passed for all the bricks the phone can do: Automatic Reboot / Boot Loop / Fast Boot / Security Error / Factory Reset Status 2 / Dead (QHSUSB_DLOAD) - I can help anyone that has any of those problems : )
In one of the flashes my phone turned to D855RE, similar case to other people, also the message "Current version is not available for user. Can't find matched cust for NT-Code mcc/mnc".
Please if anyone was able to fix the problem report here, there is a lot of people waiting for the answer 20 threads in different networks, I will post the solution in each of those. Thanks!

i bricked my lg g3 d855 during flashing completely dead no download mod Now i unbricked it with "boarddiag" and same D855 but no network and a lot of bloatwares . i tried KDZ & TOT but no signal fix... now what to do for network
waiting for solution..there are a lot of people with that problem. I dont know why this happened ... when i clean flash to stock 30b kdz problem solved for few days and then... still persist
Hi, this a weird problem for my new e980, i flashed properly the e980 at&t rom, and now i dont have signal, i tried flashing modem.img from here and nothing, still no signal, also tried to flash the telcel kdz and nothing, my IMEI is ok, but i dont have signal, is like is trying to finding signal, sim card is ok, working in other phone, please, somebody can help me please?
Come on guys, hope one of you can help me, this is happening after flashed a 5.0 lollipop for F240K, I think, I converted my e980 to F240K, but now the signal isn't working even his own baseband, I really need your help guys, please!!!
Have you tried going back to stock jb?
Start from jb. It's the most stable version we have.
Then you can root and install twrp from flashify. It's the most up to date recovery we have. Forget about the others because they can be buggy.
After that you can choose whichever room suits you. But I'd recommend SlimLP...

I tried, no signal, I updated it manual via the software to KK also for test and nothing.
PD: I tested the E989 modem from another guy and now I have signal, but only WCDMA and GSM, I don't have LTE, also the 3G, H and H+ aren't working properly. Help please

You'll probably have to flash Telcel firmware first (E980H variant I think, not sure if Telcel or something else), then AT&T firmware to get your network back. Also, you must do a full (CSE, if I'm not wrong, haven't started LGFlashTool in a while ) flash, with complete internal wipe - "update" flash just changes system, boot and recovery, not modem/firmware images which are ones you need... Also, you MAY try flashing madmack's modem (it's ripped from AT&T E980 firmware) before flashing OEM images...
I really don't understand why are you people messing with modem images and other stuff like that at all... especially without backups. Last year I had to mess with nearly 10 phones from my friends/associates, because they got their modem/efs images broken/corrupted trying to flash something which isn't made for their device...
Actually did it, not working with AT&T rom, Tried with telcel then I flashed AT&T rom and nothing, nothing is working for me, tried the madmack modem file and nothing works. still no signal
Have you done a FULL flash? Are you sure you have E980 variant (difference between E98x variants is literally in modem firmwares)? This more looks like you have flashed wrong stock firmware.

Shady, I really apreciate your help, thanks for answer, my friend sell me that phone, he said is a E980, but after see the imei is a E981h version for argentina where I live, before flash the korean lollipop, my 4G works perfect, now I dont have signal, I tried the E980 and well, not signal, I tried E981h too because is a variant from south america too and maybe can work and actually is the real stock firmware for my phone, no signal, nothing.. I tested the phone with 2 firmwares from E989 (1 from Brazil the other one is from CHILE) and is working but only WCDMA 3G and sometimes the signal drops and I only have 16gbs for storage.
More clear, this is my summary.
1) E980 Firmware from AT&T, Telcel and Panama = No signal
2) E981h Firmware for my E981h, Stock Retail and Movistar Telefonica KitKat and JellyBean = NO SIGNAL
3) E989 Firmware from Brazil Retail and Chile Claro = Just WCDMA and signal drops.
4) Custom ROMs? Just tried the CloudyGX 1.0 with E980 patch and E988 just for test = NO SIGNAL
I can't find the problem, also my phone was in the service before this and was totally useless for them, but I think these guys wasn't too profesional for be honest, i'm pretty sure.

Custom ROMs won't do a thing because they are using firmware images on your modem partition.
IMEI says it's E981H Argentina, but it doesn't work with that firmware? What the hell... What's written on your phone's case? There is a model mark on the housing, after you remove back panel. I have E988 (Open TW variant), markings say E988/E989. In the end, ask your friend where he/she got it, that may help identifying it...

He sends me the box also, is in my house now, I'm working at the moment, he got the phone in a normal store, is 100% original, let me check the model inside of the phone.

This may be risky, but you already flashed F240K firmware and kept your device alive. Have you tried flashing E988 firmwares?

Is my first time with an LG Phone, is a really weird problem for me at least, Never tried with a E988 Firmware, what firmware is good for flash? just asking because you have E988 and probably you know which one is good.

I'm using E988_V10 firmwares for TWN variants, best base for my device, especially since I'm using AOSP/CM roms

Tried, with the E988 Rom only works GSM.
EDIT: Flashed argentinian MODEM e981h and i got 3g for first time but drop fast.

Weird, E988 is basically international one, should work everywhere. Check preferred network type in network settings.

Yes, I checked the preferred network in #*#*4636#*#*# and only works with WCDMA also tried the change the band in that menu but was useless, signal drops and 3G isn't working. Also tried in the options of the phone and the same result.

Have you tried to download your firmware from lg website?
Try to Google it. There might be tutorials telling you how to do this using your imei number. Then, you'll find the correct firmware.
Remember, you should use an LG website link to be secure in the use of your imei.
Edit: try that link

Note that you have to substitute MYIMEI for your imei. I'm not sure if you have to keep the brackets. So try both possibilities and see which works.
Edit 2: now I remembered all the steps.
Once you insert the imei without brackets you will have info on your firmware. Notice that in the central area of the page you have a link that ends in .kdz
Copy that link and insert it in your browser's address bar. That will prompt you to download your correct firmware.
That firmware will most likely be E98120X... Or the KK version...
After downloading it, change the 20 in the link for a 10...
Doing this you should be able to download the JB version. This is the most stable version for our devices (the KK version has a bug on the modem that keeps the device awake when it shouldn't).
If you succeed, flash the JB version, the one with the number 10 using the CSE option in the flash tool.
After that, you should be up and running and able to flash any custom rom without the risk of signal drops.
Oh, have in mind that if you want to use 4g you will have signal drops. This is also a bug of our devices. It works best in 3g. Every time you have to reboot, change from 4g to 3g, when signal is back on change again to 4g and you'll have it working with few hiccups...
Don't forget to keep backups of your firmware and report if you succeed.

Hi, the 10 version isnt available in that web using my imei, the only one is from carrier, Telefonica Movistar, I tried with that and not luck.
Edit: got it via google, I'm going to test in few mins.

Good. Now that you know the exact "name" of your rom you can Google the JB version (the one with number 10).
