Very very confused about rooting first gen kindle fire on Mac OSX - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys I had bought my first gen kindle on release day and was able to root it shortly afterward with no problems. Fast forward several years later and my kindle has been updated to 6.3.4 and it seems like if you want to root your first gen kindle on a mac it feels very daunting/overwhelming.
Can anyone help me root my first gen kindle through mac osx? I would be eternally grateful!
I was able to install fastboot and adb using the terminal but how do I get the android OS onto my kindle?

(Help) How to Root a Kindle Fire?

Hello, I'm new to this site and would like for some help. I recently just got my first kindle fire and I want to "Root It". My friend tried to help me out and gave me all the supplies
- Kindle Fire Utility
- A Rom
We did everything fine and we installed the fire utility and once we drag the ROM to the kindle fire and restarted it, the OS/ROM never change and it was still the original OS that it came with so I just restored the kindle
System Version/Current Version: 6.3_user_4019920
I hope someone can help me out!
Thanks
I USED this tutorial to do mine. Its fast and easy. Hope it helped

[Q] Can't enter Fastboot Mode

Hi,
I try to use the Kindle Fire Utility to install TWRP and FFF (in order to install CM10) on my kindle fire. However, no matter what I do after saying "The kindle has been told to reboot in Fastboot mode" and rebooting the utility gets stuck at "<waiting for device>". The kindle is just rebooting normally. One related thing is maybe that KFU says "fail opening shift: No such file or directory".
I would appreciate your help a lot. I am searching for 2 hours now the internet and at xda-developers but I coudlnt' find anything.
Thanks a lot

If this is a first gen Kindle Fire:

Everything you need should be in these as long as your Kindle is first gen. and your drivers are good.
Thanks but unfortunately it's second gen.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. Does that mean I can't use any of the ROMs in the kindle fire forum?
Everything here will give you a fancy little hockey puck pretty much. Sorry.

Out of curiosity, how can I tell for sure if I have a 1st or 2nd Gen. KF? I just bought it today, so I would guess it's a 2nd Gen., but there's no guarantee that it isn't one that's been sitting on a shelf for months.
My guess is it's second gen. considering Amazon stopped the selling of first gen device months ago the only way to acquire one now is if you need a first gen. device replacement.

[Q] Kindle Fire might be bricked Please Help!

Hi I just attempted to root my Kindle Fire 2 (I think its a 2). The root worked I used this Guide. It worked and I had SU installed. I then proceeded to download ES File Explorer and double check for root which again worked. I proceeded to install Tweezermod to get twrp using the On KF2 method. However after installing the APK and running the app the kindle fire reset and booted in to a completely red screen. The computer is not picking it up. Is there anyway to fix this? ( I really hope there is as I was just doing this as a favor for a friend) Any help at all would be appreciated. Thank you!
What color was the box you bought it in?

Not a kindle fire 2. I've seen a post somewhere that lists the software versions but can't remember where. But a kf2 software version is 10.x

That's what I was thinking but amazon lists that 6.x is the highest for kf 1, 10.2.6 for kf 2, 7.2.3 kf hd, and 8.1.4 kf hd 8.9.
I probably should have asked but I figured since the root for kf 2 worked it must be a kf2.
Aside from that though do you happen to know anyway to fix it?

No clue bro. Sorry! Solid red screen? Never heard of it..

For anyone else that runs into this issue. To fix without sending back (at least it worked for me when i got the red screen)
Process without fastboot cable (this assumes you were able to put the kindle in fastboot mode prior to red screen, you have all the ADB drivers installed, etc)
1. Connect red screen kindle powered up to PC (must have active internet connection)
2. Start KFFirstAide
3. Select Option 9 (Display Fastboot status)
4. Click Yes a couple of times
5. Should say <waiting for device>
6. Power cycle Kindle
7. Kindle Reboots in fastboot mode
8. Select Option for Full restore based on pervious kindle version (mine was option 7)
9. Kindle will go through a full restore
10. Once rebooted you should be able to regesiter your kindle and go from there

[Q] Another bricked KF 2, please explain

I followed the directions for rooting my KF 10.2.6 from Patel989's 1/30/2013 post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2125628
It worked fine. Happy day!
Then I loaded TWRP using KFU and powered it off to see how TWRP worked.
It will not power on again.
I assume it's toast, true?
If so, where did I go wrong?
Still learning the hard way,
SJ

Why have you used KFU?
This post explains how to get TWRP installed on a Kindle Fire 2.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36888389
This is from the 2nd to last page on the KFU post.
If it is a 10.x.x version, then you have a Kindle Fire 2nd generation. Do not attempt to use this utility. It will brick. Go to the KF2 forum.
Don't want to be harsh, but the reason people keep bricking their devices, is because they don't read enough before doing something. The creators of these tools could help the situation by adding a model check before the tool runs.

I'm a dumb noob and didn't do enough research, I suppose. I didn't realize it was a KF 2 until today when I asked about the device on the KF forum and was sent to this one. I thought a KF 2 would say it was version 2 somewhere, perhaps on the box, so I assumed it was a plain KF.
In any case, did KFU poison it?
And if so, is there a way to kick start it?
Thanks,
-SJ
i bricked my kfhd and i havent unricked it yet

[Q] Windows recognizing kindle fire?

Okay I've been reading up on the forums for the past week, trying to unbrick my kindle by that, but anyway I understand all I have to do, I just can't get my computer to recognize my kindle fire!! I'm stuck in TWRP because if I try the normal boot, I get stuck at the yellow kindle fire screen. I understand that once I do get my kindle fire mounted in TWRP, I can flash a ROM to get my OS back on my kindle fire, so any tips on how to get my computer to recognize my kindle fire?
Thank you so much!

So were you never able to recover your kindle from this ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38046071 ) state, or is this a new problem?

So which generation of Kindle fire do you have. If it's first gen with 6.3.2 the i would say Install the KFU version 0.9.8. I have been using it now for over two weeks and hasn't failed me yet. I have tried version's 0.9.6 and. 0.9.7 and had the same problem your having

good idea. uninstall previous drivers, DL 9.8 or 9.9, install drivers, and see if your computer can recognize the device.
