How to update Leedroid ROM? - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

This is my first post here, so please bear with me if I'm in the wrong forum or if this question doesn't belong here.
I got my HTC10 a few months ago and decided to try rooting it. It was my first time rooting a phone, and it took lots of research and following guides to make it happen. Anyway, i successfully rooted my phone, and installed LeeDroid's custom ROM. I've been very happy with it. I just realized earlier today that i haven't been updating the ROM, though! I downloaded the latest update .zip, but have no idea how I'm supposed to perform the update. I'm quite a noob at this stuff, and hope someone has the patience to help me pull this off.
Help, please!
Trevor

apart from what the above is mentioned you could also try reading through Lee's thread if you are stuck somewhere while updating...
latest nightly for lee's would be r124

Thanks for the responses! Looks like it's easier than i suspected. I'll check out Lee's thread for more info too.
Thanks again!

also you could download the standalone nightly zip from there and flash it directly from twrp...

Taking 60 seconds to read the forum might be a start.
No I don't believe I did. Can you help me out. Where would I find that update?

+1. People need to understand what they're doing before jumping right in.
OP- Now you'll have to go back to the nandroid backup that you hopefully did before flashing the ROM, unroot, upgrade the radio, and then re-root. You've created some extra, unnecessary work on your own part, but it will at least get you some more familiarity with these tasks.
Directions can be found with a quick search of the forum.

You really really really REALLY have to do your reading/research before making any changes to your phone's OS. If you would've read the very FIRST post in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=737400, you would not have missed the big red letters that state you MUST have the new radio or you will have issues with your phone and instructions on how to install it right below.
Now I assume you have to downgrade to 2.1, un-root, install the radio, re-root and then install 2.2 ROM. Can anybody confirm?
Good luck.

[Q] desire vs g2 (w/r/t rooting??)

hi all,
i'm a longtime lurker but new poster. i'm happy to say i got a brand new G2 (from t-mobile) yesterday! i'd like to root it but i'm completely confused about the G2 (with new android 2.2 update) vs the Desire. The wiki is titled Desire Z BUT the rooting anchor (at http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision#Rooting_the_G2) refers to the G2. Which is it? I don't want to brick my new H2...
Thanks all!
Pzz
The guides in the device section here SHOULD work fine but best to check the HTC VISION: G2 section instead.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
It is confusing having two sets of forums, the G2 ones and the Desire Z ones. I believe they're going to be merged very soon though.
so... they are the same? i just want to know if i can follow the directions in that link? thanks in advance!
yes. the same.

thanks for the help.
i just want to confirm that i can follow those instructions EVEN with the 2.2 update from HTC that came over a couple weeks back. i've never rooted anything and am a bit nervous

Yes, the instructions in the Wiki, which you linked to in your first post above, will work fine for you. Just read them very carefully, and ask questions if you're not sure about any specific bits.
If you're going to be using adb as part of this process, then I suggest you check out this guide to help you get adb up and running on your PC - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865685
yes! that adb guide did the trick and i am successfully rooted (i ran the gfree_verify to verify).
now, where/how do i actually load ROMS? i'm sorry to ask such newb questions but the stickies in the forums here are outdated or don't appear in my search terms. thanks again!

Well done.
Have a look in the Android development forum. You'll find lots of threads there with custom ROMs. Take your time, read up and see if there's a ROM which might be good for you.
Before you leap into that, install ROM Manager on your phone, and use that to flash Clockwork Recovery, that's a custom recovery for your phone. Once you have Clockwork installed, you can do what's referred to as a "nandroid" backup of your phone, which is basically a complete dump of the phone. Do that before you try a new ROM, then if you don't like the new ROM it's incredibly easy just to restore that backup and go back to where you were.
Cyanogen's custom ROM is very very popular, but as I say, take your time and read up.
thanks all for your help!
will have a look now and read up on the differences between the ROMS. I've seen tons of compliments of cyanogen's mod but will try to see the difference

[Q] Question about Official T-Mobile US OTA Update 2.2.1 Froyo 34.4.9

I just downloaded the 2.2.1 Froyo 34.4.9 update.zip and am really anxious to give it a try. I'm kinda new at this, I have a rooted Defy (Superoneclick method) and I did root and flash a custom ROM on my CliqXT (adb push method) and have both working good. So, I'm not completely dumb to this stuff but I read in a couple of the thread posts that some people have had issues with 3G and WiFi after installing this update. I do believe that troubleshooting that stuff might be a bit over my head so I'm just wondering if this has been an on going issue or if its rare? If I follow the posted instructions correctly do I have a good chance at ending up with a trouble free version of Foyo? FYI...My Defy is Rooted (factory ROM) 2.1 update1 with Blur Version 3.6.36 and I have a Nandroid backup.
I wasnt sure where to post my previous question since I found the info in the Dev's forums, but I guess because I haven't posted at least 10 times I wasn't allowed to post my question in the Dev's thread I got the .zip from. Funny because I saw a post from someone that didnt even know what "root of the sd card" was but they're allowed to post in that thread. Not trying to offend anyone just making an observation. New to this site so I'm just learning the rules.
I dont think you should be so anxious I upgraded today and the only issue was that it was initially a bit slow but after a few minutes everything was zipping along perfectly.. My 3g is just fine and my Wifi as well. I was able to reroot using superoneclick (update undoes root), and overclock using milestone-overclock app.
I was getting near a near 1000 quadrant score at stock b4 overclocking and got in the 1400's after overclocking to 1200mhz @80.
If you follow the directions it should work no prob.. Welcome to froyo
Those problems you mentioned only apply to the leaked FroYo SBF files. And it only affects those that flash the SBFs to phones that are not specific to that SBF.
I flashed the leaked FroYo for T-Mo USA on my T-Mo USA Defy and had no problems.
You should be fine with the official update.
If you can, please make a nandroid after you update and post it here...
Thanks!

On the Moto forum an Admin is asking for any issues discovered by those who have updated to 2.2. Not sure if this means they're still trying to sort it.

"Common Folks?" Wow, I hope that wasnt supposed to be some kind of insult. You should remember something, its us "common folks" that have the clean Nandroid backups the Dev's seem to be needing, its us "Common Folks" that flash the custom ROMS and donate to the Dev's in appreciation for their hard work. But if us "common folk" aren't welcome here then I can leave because the last time I checked I was able to root and install custom ROMS on both of my phones without your help. Not bad for "common folk"
Lol you took my comment way out of context. I'm not a dev. I don't even have a defy. I'm about intermediate android when it comes to roms, flashing, etc.
I simply meant that, until now, you needed to root, install custom os, etc to get froyo.

Ok, sorry about that. The official OTA 2.2 release was done for a limited time a month or so ago (supportforums.motorola.com/thread/44255?start=0&tstart=0). I have a rooted Defy with custom recovery and download the update.zip from the Dev's forum. Sorry if I wasnt clear about that.

I havent installed the OS yet. I got a little more research to do but once I do it I'll be happy to provide the Nandroid. I have a couple questions about the current status of my SD card that I wanna look into first. Hopefully i'll be running Froyo in the next day or so and will provide the Nandroid ASAP.
I would like to know if I have Clockwork Recovery installed, can I still flash the official rom using the Update.zip file on SD card? Thanks.
Just want to be clear on the Nandroid backup. Are you asking me to make the backup right after flashing new OS before anything else gets installed? Basically a stock Defy running Froyo? If you give me details on what you're wanting it'll help alot with my learning process and it'll help make sure that you get what you're looking for. And does a Nandroid backup contain all info thats on SD card?
Yes, a Nandroid right after you update so that none of your data is on there and everything is stock.
Nope, the contents of the SD Card are not included when you make a Nandroid...
Thank you, your help is appreciated!

Do you have any suggestions as to how to backup? I rooted the official (beta) tmous 2.2 with superoneclick (Z4 didn't work), and tried to install tenfars recovery module, however, it won't work with this rom. Is there another one that you suggest to use?
Try this one: kb7sqi's Recovery
Also, have you tried disabling USB Debugging before booting to recovery on Tenfar's Recovery?
You'll have to do that for it to work. The same goes for kb7sqi's Recovery.
Nasty bug or something...

this version doesn't work on this rom either...and the updated version was pulled.
Replied to your PM.
You can use Tenfar's and even kb7's old one. They both work.
You just need to disable USB Debugging before rebooting to recovery...

[Q] Can't seem to successfully flash any Rom's

Hey guys. A few months ago a brought this issue up on another site and I think I only got one response. I ended up getting lazy with it and too frustrated to worry about it, so I gave up. Well, I'm finally ready to try and resolve it again so I wanted to see if anyone here could help me before I screw something up and brick my device lol. I have a Retail Verizon HTC One (M7) that was purchased about 3 months ago. After I bought it, I Rooted, unlocked, S-OFF, installed TWRP, all that good stuff. Everything, from what I can remember, went smoothly when doing all those things. Well, I finally at one point, decided to test out a Rom and have not been able to successfully install one yet and I have no idea why. I have tried a few and TWRP always returns a "Failed". The most recent one I tried was the ViperOne 6.2.0 (May 11). The only exception for that one, was that the aroma installer actually did say "Successful" but when I booted up I was stuck in a boot loop. I'm sure I've done something along the way that has screwed something up but I have no clue what that would have been. I'm attaching a few pictures with some info on my current setup, in hopes that something might catch someone's eye and offer a solution. Thanks a head of time for any help guys.

Last night I just ended up flashing this RUU which worked: http://tinyurl.com/l3j7rhk
Then, after reading the solution offered here, I noticed on that same thread a link to TWRP 2.7.0.8 Decided to flash that and I am now able to successfully flash Rom's again. I tried two separate ones just to be sure. ViperOne and Cyanogen. Everything seems to be working as it should now.

Why is the sm-n910p with 5.1.1 seem to be root proof?

I am relatively new to rooting and bought a used sprint note 4 with 5.1.1 cog5 update already installed, and have been waiting around for one of the universal root programs like oneclickroot to drop a root for it, but it never happens. I heard the new security in 5.1.1 is making it impossible? Is there any work arounds? I have seen a couple homebrews show up that seem questionable and limited. Anyone who is knowledgeable is welcome, but please no "newb just read" comments. Those are rarely helpful.
Funny, after owning this phone for about a year I decided to root yesterday being 100% stock and on OG5. First flash TWRP using ODIN, then install beastmode via TWRP to begin. TWRP will ask after to install superSU, install it. So far I'm using xposed and wish I had done this sooner! Sorry for the lack of details but I'm on mobile right now.
