Hi all,
I'm experiencing pretty slow USB OTG Write speeds while copying my nandroid backup. Currently I'm getting between 2.5-4.5MB/sec.
I'm using the much praised Anker USB C-A OTG cable with a little red SanDisk USB 2.0 micro SD adapter and a 64Gb Samsung Pro micro SD card thats rated at 95(read)/90MB(write)/s. Internally it was pretty fast in my MxPE. It definitely didn't hit the advertised speeds but was definitely faster by a factor of at least ten than the highest speeds I'm im getting now with my OTG cable. IIRC I also obtained similar speeds using the same SanDisk USB adapter on one of my desktops.
Anyone have any ideas? Should I just cut the whole sd/usb adapter out of the setup and just use a thumb drive with my OTG cable? Is there possibly something that I am doing very wrong?

its not the phone or the memory card, its adapters, i had purchased https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01C5JJN2Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and i am getting about 12 MB/sec, i think SanDisk USB 2.0 micro SD adapter is ur culprit, I am pretty sure that is not going to say the speeds its has and it is not going to use the full speeds of the micro sd card b/c that micro sd is blazing fast, i use it for my surface, so i highly doubt it will be the phone

Thanks for the quick reply... Whats weird is that the same adapter works quite fast with my linux box and an old C2D iMac(IIRC). Perhaps my memory is failing me. I do have one or two more generic adapters kicking around. Maybe I'll give them a shot.
Then again maybe it'll just be faster to use one of my thumb drives instead.
Also, I'm wondering if I should have just purchased a micro SD to USB C adapter rather than getting an OTG cable and plugging my mSD to USB dongle into it... Oh well, I'm hoping that once my USB A Y cable arrives from China I'll be able to power my hi-gain USB WiFi and finally(maybe) do some pentesting from my phone... Anyhow I've just(almost) derailed my own post!

has anyone tried connecting external 500 gig hard drive to the galaxy s 2?

I have the adapter cable but does not work for GS2 but on the HTC HD2 its work.
Why does not work, does not show me any sign that the cable connected. Does it have to be some special cable?

I have, it doesn't work unless you have a external power supply for the hard drive. the phone can't supply enough power to it.

Hello all,
Today I was excited to find a cable that I'd ordered last week from Hong Kong on ebay had arrived.
Micro USB MHL to HDMI Cable Adapter HDTV For Samsung Galaxy S2
Well if it works on the S2 then it probably works on the Note. Well I plugged an HDMI cable into my Dell 1920 x 1200 monitor, that cable into the adapter and then a micro USB power cable into the micro USB power socket of the device.
Doesn't work
Hmm. Its a pretty simple device. Well I tried swapping micro USB cables in case it works differently with MHL or non MHL cables. Still does nothing. Damn.
Maybe it requires particular software to drive the video. Well no joy yet. If anyone has some suggestions then I'm happy to hear them. It was pretty cheap. But I wish it worked...
In case you were thinking of getting one of these. Here is the one that I bought.

Are you aware that it needs power? In your case, your device needs to be connected to computer usb (as it said in item description)

Cable can't too long.
Sent from Taiwan.
I have a similar one to that from China or somewhere and works great, do need to plug in your mains charger for it to work though. Only issue I had was you I needed to screen fit on my telly because it wasn't fitting properly but after I ran that it fit to te screenproperly.
Good news that MHL is working on the note, especially after the news of the Pioneer AppRadio 2.

I wasn't clear enough in what I wrote. I plugged in the micro USB power cable into the devices micro USB power socket just like in that picture, so yes I gave that a go but still didn't work
I bought a Menotek brand adapter off Amazon, and it works great for me. My TV luckily had a USB port (for firmware updates), and it powered the device just fine.
i bought one off ebay and according to the seller it is the original one
it works great
but you need to turn off the data (3g) because it causes disconnects on the lcd
Well,I try to connect my External Hard Disk and it doesn't work...I got a notification stated that it's empty or unsupported thing like that...how can I fix it?
Plus,I try to plug in my usb controller,I got a notification stated too much power consumption :crying: how can I connect my controller?

I have a Sony DK10 LiveDock, which has it's USB port connected to an Aten US421A USB switch, which is connected to a Targus 7 port powered Hub.
As the Targus 7 port hub is independently powered, it'll support any Sony (LT26i) supported device.
And I have some weird stuff connected like a 80GB IDE FAT32 USB enclosed HDD and/or your bog standard WD 320GB USB HDD (FAT32), a DELL U2410 monitor with SDcard reader and a HP 8GB v165w USB flash drive.
So stuff does work, BUT, if you're independently powering this off your Sony microUSB port on your phone you will have to match the power output of the phone with the power requirement of the attached device.
USB2.0 is spec'd at 5V and 5x100mA units.
WD USB HDD requires V5 0.55A to run and we know they're not supported
It is possible(I don't know) that the output of the Sony LT26i MicroUSB is only around ~300mA and thus devices attempting to draw more power will not work. It could be as low as 100mA.
I have a HP 8GB v165w flash drive and that doesn't work directly connected to the Sony (LT26i), but does work when connected through a powered USB hub. So if one knew it's power draw, then one could work out what the Sony (LT26i) is providing.
This may also help with additional information: USB Controller Games (Xperia S)

HooToo® HT-UH009 USB 3.0 Hub 10-Port (12V/4A Power Adapter, Latest VIA VL812 Chipset, 3.3 feet USB 3.0 Cable), Backward Compatible with USB 2.0 and Supporting Windows / Mac / Linux OS (Electronics) Get it HERE
I have the 7 port one also that Hoo Too provided me for review also. (HERE) This one works much better for me because I have so many devices. The only downside on this one is that it feels a little cheaper built than the 7 port. But the difference is minuscule.
The hub is compatible with many operating systems, but I tested it on my Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bit operating system on my HP laptop. The UBS ports allow you to add any type of accessory that needs a USB port. You can add in a printer, scanner, external hard drive or whatever accessory you may need. No drivers are required, so set up is easy.
This is a great way to add additional ports to any computer or laptop. I have so many devices connected to my computer and I always need another USB port to plug in more devices or charge them! This product gave me everything I need.
I like that it is small and lightweight also. Can be hidden easily if need be. No drives disconnected when I used this. I had it attached to my phone, 2 external HDDs, 3 flash drives and also had it charging my android phone and an additional external battery. I was transferring files for a few hours to test it thoroughly. It handled everything I needed. The charging rate was comparable to my OEM wall chargers.
Overall this is a great product that comes in very handy if you have may devices. So if you need that capability, this is for you!
HERE is the other one I reviewed also. HooToo® HT-UH010 7-Port USB 3.0 HUB with 2 Smart Charging Port for iPad/iPhone/SAMSUNG/HTC Smartphone/Tablet (12V/5A Power Adapter(8ft), 3.3ft USB 3.0 Cable, Latest VIA VL812 Chipset) :good:
Dear,
I've been using HTC 10 for few months now, served me will.. I liked the USB transfer speed of it, so I've ordered a USB Flash with Type-C port, to be more specific the new model of SanDisk ( Model: SDDDC2-064G-G46 ) pictured below

Using Type-A with a computer was very good, reading reach 140MB/s and writing up to 66MB/s ( writing vary 16-72 )...
But as soon as I used the type-C port in the phone, reading speed was awfully slow, less than 10MB/s and normally 4-5MB/s with maximum reaches 6-7MB/s I thought this was because I was reading from the flash to the microSD ( which is faster than that actually ), so I tried copying to the internal memory which should not be a bottle neck at all, but I got the same speeds...
So I thought it was the problem with the flash it self in the Type-C port.. but few days ago I tried using a Type-C to Type-A adapter and plugged the flash using Type-A side which should be fast looking at above speeds ( 66/140 for w/r ), but I was facing the exact same speeds as before, so it doesn't matter which port I use ( Type-C or Type-A ) I'm always getting those very slow speeds... when using HTC 10's USB OTG... I could not repeat the test with another flash to confirm..
Any body tried this on their HTC 10 yet ?
It seems no body have used a flash with HTC 10 ?

I use Eaget 32gb usb 3.1 type c connector and I copy 2 files in total 1.85gb from internal memo to that flash disk and it took 191 sec . average speed approx of 10 mb per sec . so probably that the max speed
