Should I buy the 5x or the 6p? - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Looking to buy a new phone tomorrow, I've had the iPhone 6 plus, that broke. then blu vivo xl....not sure if I want the longer 6p even with the better display. 5x looks pretty damn amazing. Has anyone experience major lag? Anyone regret buying the 5x?

My suggestion is to buy the Nexus 6P. You will be much happier with the 6P over the 5X. It is a superior device in my opinion.

I really think it depends on how much you pay for it. I don't have a nexus 6p to compare, but I do feel like overall fluidity and speed consistency were better on my old nexus 6. You also really notice the lack of RAM; background apps have to be reloaded pretty often. I think it'd be worth it if you can find one for under $200 though.

If you are used to the larger size of an iphone 6 plus and don't mind spending more then yeah, go for the 6p. I really didn't want that big a phone and found the $249 deal on a 32G 5X on project Fi to be to good a deal to pass up. With new Nexus phones coming out later this year I didn't want to put too much into a phone. If the new phones look good and get good reviews after a couple months of real world use I won't have any issues ditching a $249 phone after only 5 or 6 months use. At $549 for the 6P 64G model I'd feel differently. I'm actually pretty fond of the 5X. I miss the blacks of AMOLED though. As for feel/quality I actually prefer plastic over metal plus it's in a case anyway.

Nexus 6

I'm liking my G3 right now, but is anybody else excited for the N6? May have to use a jump upgrade for that bad boy. The features sound amazing and the design looks intriguing.
Tempted but too big, too expensive( for a nexus) and no removeable storage. Not only that but its made by motorola which is known for personalizing phone to your liking and yet only offer 2 colors.

Link to camera shots?
I had a Z Ultra GPE and liked it, with the Nexus 6 being half an inch smaller, I feel that it would be a much better experience!
yES, unlike others, i do not think its expensive for a flagship phone. The fACT that other nexus devices were cheaper in cost, does not make this one expensive. As it is a completely different device, different manufacture, better specs ect...
I just paid $598 for the g3 and i would GLADLY pay another $50 for a nexus 6. And its cheaper than the Note 4 and Iphone 6..
I am going to sell my G3 and jump on the nexus 6 as soon as it comes out. The only thing that sucks is that it does not have a SD card slot or a removable battery, but I can live with that...
I have a G3 and the wife has a Jump to use. I'm going to use it. lol I think I might get the Note 4 and then check out the Nexus 6 when it comes out. If I like the Nexus better then I might return the Note 4 and get the Nexus. I have 30 days to return a phone with my discount that I have. I guess I might have to pay a restocking fee. The wife will get my G3.

I want one but I'm going to wait. good chance that price drops... I came from the Nexus 5 and liked it alot..
I'm not too wprried about removable storage. I had the Flex before the G3 and honestly i switch to my Flex every once in a while cuz i miss using it
me too just waiting to move to the nexus 6 I always had nexus devices
#nexus6 shall be mine. Guaranteed updates more development and sorry but the g3 has too much lag regardless of all the tweaks. I need a pure Google experience.
I'm getting the nexus 6 as well.. I like the g3 but there is no lollipop date or eta and I'm not holding my breath..
Nexus 6 here as well, like the G3, but I'm a fiend for development and this is where Nexus shines.
The Nexus 6 looks like an amazing phone but the lack of SD card slot is what's keeping me from the switch.

I have a 64 gig sdcard in my g3 ATM and 32 on board have not touched the onboard storage and only used 5 gigs on the sdcard
Everything is stored in the cloud
With copy I have 140 gigs of storage
So its not a big deal for me bit I can see for others it would be a issue
No SD support = hellz no.

Yea one of the biggest gripes for any phone company are the updates. Never owned a Nexus phone, but i do like plus size phones. I had the Note 2 and Flex. A 6 inch Nexus is actually the deciding factor
Count me in for the Nexus 6. I'll be placing a midnight blue one on pre-order online on the 29th. For everyone who is passing on the Nexus because of the lack of an SD card spot, you should consider buying a meenova. I still have mine from when I had the original HTC one and they work great. Very cheap and ultra portable. I'm sure it'll be even more convenient with the nice big batteries that most of these phones are getting nowadays. I'd hate for anyone to miss out on any great phones because they don't come with built in SD slots. Check them out here http://www.meenova.com/st/p/mrg2.html

Upgrade to OP3 now or wait for the next nexus?

Im in sort of a mid life crisis. I currently own a Nexus 6 but I want a more beefy phone. The N6 is great and all but its starting to lag, battery is degrading, and the front camera sucks. I really like the nexus line and I have never owned a OP device. From the rumors im seeing the next nexus should be pretty damn good, so to all of you who own the OP3, are you happy with the purchase? Would you recommend buying it or should I just wait? Thanks!
I just got the OP3 and I was in the same dilemma as you. I like the nexus phones as the are pure android and will always get the security updates asap. But for me the current 6P is too big of a phone and has already been out for what, 9 months? You have to figure that going on past performance, the next generation Nexus phone won't be announced until Sept and will not be available until Oct. I didn't want to wait 4 months. Plus, the price is almost certainly going to be a lot more that $399. Having had the OP3 for a week, I know I made the right decision.
No mistake about it, if you buy the OnePlus 3 then you will be buying a premium phone. From the build to the cases, it's top notch.
Don't think that the lower price means a compromise. It's sleek, powerful and most importantly the OS is stable and well supported by the company. No bloatware..
When Nexus comes out you will be waiting for next Galaxy

I love Nexus but...
OnePlus really has done it with the OP3. It really could be the best damn phone ever! Build, OS and dev support is up there with Nexus and I honestly would say I like the OP3 way better than my wife's S7. Honestly. I love it. I have owned Samsung's, nexus and OPO, OP2 and now OP3 and this is by far the best of them all. And the cherry on top for me is OFFICIAL Slimrom support on the way.
Oh, and dash charge.. how the hell did I ever live with out it???
well I sold my 6p for this baby then will probably get the next nexus or whatever google throws at us. depending if it's worth it tho

Nexus 5X user here, should I switch to Oneplus?

Hello!
I'm a Nexus 5X user and I was looking forward to the Pixel announcement as I'm sure most Nexus users were, and I almost had a heart attack seeing the price . I've grown tired of my plastic-y slab of lacklustre performance and want a change.
So I ask you (guessing theres probably a lot of ex-Nexus users here), is the Oneplus 3 worth switching? Or should I hang off and wait for what Oneplus has in-store for next year?
Thanks in advance!
i had a nexus 5 before. i switched to OP3 and this was the best decision ever
Camera (ISO levels and shutterspeed) and updates are better on the 5x.
All the rest the OP3 wins.
I'm coming from a nexus 6 was waiting for the launch of the new pixel phone, and I just new Google would balls this one up. So last week I ordered my opo3 and should be with me before the 10th of this month. Little sad to see the nexus go but I'll be moving on ?
I too am a 5x owner and was anxiously awaiting the Pixel phones. Was looking forward to a nicer design and features that should come with a higher price tag. Big disappointment! The Pixels offer nothing remotely close to making them worth the price asked. Ordered a OP3 yesterday and am looking forward to it arriving later this month.
I moved on from my Nexus 6 and couldn't be happier! This is one bad ass phone!
Made this same jump myself - the only thing you'll miss is the photo quality (more so in low light)
Performance is significantly better
Hey all, highjacking the thread a little...
I'm now using the N6P, which is great, but I like to change phones once a year, just for a change of scenery if you will.
Pixel phones are not attractive to me, so I'm thinking OPO3 (well, was thinking Note 7, but well....sounds like not the best option yet).
Anybody did this? I know it will be mostly a lateral "upgrade", both are possibly same same on many levels, but I also like the possibility of MIUI for a change from time to time.
oh, and really need to be able to have some XDA fun, so this is good too for that ^^
I'm thinking of coming from an iPhone 6s, as want to come back to android. My wife has a 5X and it's great, but I think the OnePlus 3 edges it with the performance. I think I'll miss the 6s's battery life and camera, but from the looks of it, there's not too much to worry about, right?

Definitely worth it going from an 810 to an 820 is way better and the performance is amazing and I also had a 6P as well.
really worth upgrade. used few weeks while my op3 was at rma, nexus 5x compared to op3 really laggy, worse screen, battery life is also worse on n5x. Only one advantage of 5x is pure stock android with blazing fast updates.

Tis the week of the pixel

Finally! Just a few days away. I haven't been this excited about getting a new phone in a long time. I'm guessing selling my 6p and going back to my Nexus 6 might have something to do with it. Don't get me wrong my old 6 is still doing what I wanted it for when I decided to keep it instead of selling it. I got to tell you if I miss one thing is the camera in my 6p. Trust me once you get used to a quality camera on your phone than have it taken away and you will understand. I'm looking forward to having that again and am hoping with Google jumping all in we actually have some companies going all in when it comes to accessories. My wife has a iPhone 7plus and the amount of quality and I mean quality accessories that were immediately available for that phone made me jealous. Let's face it while Google and Nexus were technically together the phones really never made it big time. The plan is selling a heck of a lot more of these than any other of the old nexuses so let's see!

I think I'm looking most forward to the smaller size. I don't dislike the size of my 6P, I'm just looking forward to having a more manageable size. I'm reminded of how much I enjoy smaller-sized phones whenever I take out my Nexus 5.
The camera is the other thing I'm really looking forward to.
I don't have big hands either and know what you are talking about! This 6 is too big and the 6p was better! I've handled the pixel xl and can tell you it's even better than the 6p. It's not just the screen is a little smaller but it's Engineered better.

I'm not too excited about my preordered pixel. If I hadn't had my hands on the Note 7, I would be. I don't expect it to come close, and feel like I'm settling for something less than what I wanted. I'm sure it will be a great phone, but it's not a replacement for the note, just the next best thing I could find.
Exciting, will be allot of fun.
Everyone will be pixel-ated

I couldn't agree more with this. Having this note 7 has really changed my mind on large phones and I think that's what im most unexcited about. Nothing and I mean nothing out right now can possibly come close to the note 7. The pixel is just the next best thing.
The features of the Note 7 far outweigh the Pixel's, but the only thing I really used on my Note that I can't do on my Pixel is the S-Pen. And I will trade day 1 updates and blazing fast speed for my S-Pen and be more than satisfied
It's going to be great. it's going to be so great that it will be yuuuuge. It's going to be immense!

is the nexus5x still worth it ?

Hi guys !
I was plaining to buy a nexus5x in the last 4 mounths , but I hesitated a lot especially after the bootloop problem that a lot of people are claiming to have on their phones.
the reason that I wanted a nexus5x is basically the low price , besides the fact that it's a great phone with amazing specs + I already had a Smsung Tab A(6)(free) so I tought it would be wiser to keep it and buy a nexus 5x, instead of sealling it and spend all the money on a galaxy s7 or somthing like it.
So what do u think is the best choice :
to keep the Tab + buy nexus 5x(just a 16gb is available , with no warranty so if it brokes I'm done !!!)
or
to buy the s7
and thanks to all
The answer to the question whether Nexus 5X is still worth it depends on the price you pay for it. I got mine last summer for just 240USD and I still think it was worth it. It has a bright screen with objectively proven accurate colors. It has a very good photo camera and an extremely fast fingerprint reader. It has a very lean ROM, and very frequent monthly updates. The Nexus 5X was the first smartphone to receive the Nougat update (along with other Nexus devices). Even today, the only device that can challenge the Nexus 5X in the price-performance ratio (in USA at least) is the Huawei Honor 8.
Compare it to what else you can get for the same price. I'm still enjoying mine after over a year but there are different options to choose from at this point.
I just got my nexus 5x 2 weeks ago. and if you ask me i will say you that go for it man, its amazing device with less money. S7 is great too but you have to pay more for that, and what i love abt nexus 5x is its stock android and frequent updates if u are a stock android lover and want your phone to be updated than nexus 5x is for you.
Its not worth it. Trust me, the parts to fix it are expensive, it heata up during summer like crazy. The back is made of crap material and overall battery life while active is terrible. Get the OP3 or OP3T if you can. I should have bought that, but I was impatient so I opted for this crappy device
As others have said, it really depends on what you pay. I'm loving mine. I've had no problems so far, battery is acceptable, and running Nougat without problem. I couldn't ask for more from a device which I paid only $300 USD for.

16GB isn't worth it unless you're getting it for like $100.
