Maybe you could try and use an APP to wakeup the phone with the proximity sensor, or marking a double tapping on the phone screen like:
Gravity Screen
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.plexnor.gravityscreenofffree
Wave to Unlock and Lock
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kimcy92.wavelock
Double Tap On/Off
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.allinOne.openquickly
There are many other good APPs that almost do the same, but not all of them work with the Fire-Phone, so you should test, to see which one works better...

Is there a working application to place a widget/shortcut on screen which would lock the screen as an alternate to pressing the power button again and again? I tried 3-4 from play store but none of them works properly!
I am still on ICS and probably the best one - Screen Off and Lock, immediately turns the screen on upon being pressed and then turns it off.
Anybody? :fingers-crossed:

How about emulating the power button using this app? https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5zbWFydC5zd2tleSJd
Look at thishttps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alinberce.standbytouch&hl=ro . I use this for a while and is all ok.
no need to root and can also be added to the notification bar: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.painless.pc&feature=search_result&hl=en
all the best
Thanks guys!! :victory:
I like this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.droidmania.lockscreenwidget&feature=search_result
Would you like to leave a tip of a software I'm using. Is the Screen Off and Lock. You can set up to make the screen lock just by sliding your finger on the button back or recent. At least to block not need to use the power button.
The application is available in the Google Store.

Try gravity screen. It uses sensors to lock and unlock the screen.

If you have root, an alternative is the Xposed module KnockOff. It works well with 4.4.2. Double-tap status bar. It's even a quick way to turn off screen when you only momentarily want to check lockscreen.
With Gravitybox, I have set long press in the "multitasking button" to turn off the screen. Also I have set the volume keys to wake the device. You should try it!

You don't need root for gravity - it's fantastic.
I've set it so it turns off when it's lying down face up, face down, and in my pocket. I don't even need to press the button or any button at all to turn it back on, just using the motion of picking the phone up is enough. If you want to lay the phone down but not turn the screen off, swiping your finger across the proximity sensor gives it a "5/10/20 minute timeout" where it won't turn off.
For me it relieves the paranoia surrounding power buttons as I've had a few phones now where the power button eventually dies, which makes sense, we can be turning our phones on and off for what feels like a thousand times a day!

Ah, my bad. Thanks for correcting my misinformation! I think I probably got carried away on how amazing I find Gravity. :good:
Hi thanks for that. YES. I tame extra precaution about power button.
I use a great app called. Tap tap tap. Des what gravity screen does but simpler and less features. Via the proximity sensor. Thanks for he app though
Moto G owners ought to know about those apps as soon as possible, so they won't screw the power button up just as I did. Even taking extreme care about the way I pressed and avoiding as much as I could the button is now shaking and it is not fixed properly.
Nice tips!
Another one I've been using is the Proximity Actions app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=novum.inceptum.proximity
It works with the proximity sensor. You can define waving and holding actions. Eg. hold your finger 1s over the proximity sensor and then lock/unlock, or to wave X times to lock/unlock
The bad is
- it install some ads that show in homescreen at random time
- you have to uncheck a checkbox before uninstalling! Be careful
Hi there,
I bought a new LG G4 and after 2 days it started to work funny. In other words if I wanted to press power button when screen was off it didn't give me any response, but after I took out the battery and put it back the screen goes on and same if I do plug the charger the screen goes on.
- I tried to run phone in safe mode and it works without any issues.
- I done factory reset.
I have marshmallow android version. and also I have tampered screen protector (but remember it works without any problem in safe mode and even though my screen protector was since the first day of the phone I bought)
p.s. just an update just realized it does the same in safe mode...
any help appreciated.
Regards
just a thought,if you press the back button and the screen doesn't turn on,it might be because the sensor is covered(near the front speaker).
I have brand new G4 also. S/N 602. And it does the same thing, it has trouble waking up for some reason every few times. Double tap or power button can't wake it up, only thing that can wake him is double press power button to start camera. Same thing is on Stock and on Cyanogenmod.

Okay, I took off the screen protector and it works fine now.
could be that a protector problem ?
You most probably have a protector that is covering the proximity sensor. That's why the phone did not wake up.

When the screen is off it works as a finger print scanner.. U just need to tap on the button ..no need to press it.. Have u set up the fingerprint scanner in setting??
When fingerprint gestures are on..Taping the home button acts as a back button whereas pressing the home button acts as a home button..
If these features are not working.. U may have a faulty unit

hmm it seems to be faulty but in an interesting way when i tap it goes back when i hold it opens multitasking on locked screen fingerprint unlocks it but when i click it doesnt go home
This is my first note so I'm not sure if there is a way to do this. On my s8+ if the screen was off I was able to tap the area where the home button is and the phone screen would turn on. Is this possible with the note if I have AOD off? Or is the only way to turn on the phone on via pressing the paper button?

Hello,
On advance Features in the section for motion and gestures. You can select Double tap to wake.
This should let you Double tap the screen to wake it up.
If you want to go into phone, if you know where the fingerprint is you should be able to log in without turning phone on. But that is if you can get it at the spot it is.
They removed the has gone button as it will cause issues with the fingerprint reader.
Thank you!! Double tap to wake the screen works perfectly for me!
