Don't know what you mean by "my normal recovery" but the red triangle is stock recovery, press vol up and power to bring up stock recovery option menu.
If you talking about custom recovery, like TWRP, that would have been removed by HTC during the repair. You need to unlock the bootloader, and flash TWRP back to the phone.
Did the phone ever work when you got it back from HTC? Or was your first time powering it on, with the SD card inserted?
For the RUU, make sure HTC drivers are installed, try a different USB port and different cable. Win7 and USB 2.0 have the best compatibility with RUU.

Hi everyone
Apologies if this is in the wrong place.
I've had my desire for about 4 months, rooted it using unrEVOked sucessfully and have played around with a few different roms.
i had leedroid on it maybe 3 weeks ago and it kept going in reboot cycles, which sucked so i changed Roms. last week it started to freeze occasioanlly with my current rom (i'm using MIUI 11.26). now it is just frozen solid basically.
It is stuck on the HTC screen at bootup. If i use the volume down key and power to boot, it will go into bootloader, but when i go and click recovery, it just reboots and does the same thing, freezes at HTC. So i'm unable to get into clockwork.
Any ideas? I've been able to follow instructions and am pretty good with swapping roms around etc, but i'm really stuck with this one
Any help would be appreciated. I'm also wondering if it is not software related.
mine just did that today, i tried to open a Gtalk message but it kept force closing, so i rebooted, now it wont go past the white HTC screen. i also removed the battery, same thing happens...not too sure what to do next
BTW im using the CM6
Is there any solution to this? Mine is stuck at the HTC logo too. Can't get into recovery and clear storage didn't work.
Anybody?
i had something like it i endet up whit download this Ruu update
.shipped-roms.com/download.php?category=android&model=Bravo&file=RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe
but for this update i think phone need to be unbrandet and i think you need Hboot 0.93 but you can probaly find a older update working whit the Hboot on you phone
1. conect phone to pc whit usb then boot phone in to Hboot (push on back butten and hold it when you power up phone
2. now in Hboot and Bootloader should be maked whit blue then push powere butten one time and wait around 10 sek. ore to is say Hboot USB Plug
3. now Run The RUU update exe file and do what the program say
Btw this well make Clean install on you phone all the things you installede is gone and i think you losse phone nr storede on phone too

hi if someone can help me with this it would be great i have a fully rooted htc evo i had myn rom flashed i did the back up and wipe to flash new rom and all of a sudden my phone shuts off and i get 5 vibrates while screen is black and the green light on the top of my evo is flashing i tryed to get into recovery and when i hit recovery it does the same thing screen turns black and green light flashes. when i turn my phone on normally it boots up to the rom i have installed but then after about 5min is shuts down and does the same thing anyone plz i really hope i didnt brick my beautiful evo.
You say the phone phone boots into the new rom and is fine for 5 minutes before this happens, so it's not bricked. if it was bricked, it wouldn't do anything at all.
Boot the phone normally, go get ROM Manager from the market and use it to reflash the recovery onto your phone. Then try booting into recovery again and see if you can restore your NAND or wipe and reflash the rom.
yea i had warm and like it comes up and then within 5 min the screen shuts down and vibrates 5 times ive tryed dl rom man from the market place and then an error comes up and then phone shuts down
yea i cant even dl rom manager it keeps telling me a network error has occured im lost right now

Have you singed into Google after flashing the new rom? Try doing that and also try accessing the market while you're connected on WiFi instead of 3G.
Try this...
Im assuming you can get into recovery. Clockwork or amen Ra. Wipe EVERYTHING. Then on your stock ROM sign into google and try to DL Rom manager off of the market. Once its downloaded flash a new ROM or just go to your backed up ROM....
Dont panic. Should be simple enough
yes once you get into recovery everything else should be a breeze
what if i reboot into recovery and clear storage will that work i cant dl rom manager at all and if i hit recovery it shuts the phone off and vibrates 5 times

I Think you should do this, and it saddens me it wasn't mentioned yet.
Go to the dev section of this forum and find the thread for Amon-Ra 2.3 and open that threat and download the PC36IMG.ZIP file and place it on the root of your SD card, if need be you may need a microsd card reader for your coomputer.
next, boot the phone up holding down power and volume up for fastboot. When it asks if you want to flash the PC36IMG.ZIP recovery image, hit volume up to accept.
now try and boot into recovery again and see what happens.
btw, since I am nice, here is that thread you need.

If it didn't ask you if you wanted to update, then the file is named incorrectly or it is not on the root of your SD card. Make sure the PC36IMG file is not inside an folders. Also, make sure you did not add .zip to the end because if you did, the file is now named PC36IMG.zip.zip and your phone won't recognize it.
You can also name the file "update.zip" and then look for the option in recovery to flash update.zip and do it that way. Again, file must be in the root of your SD card and not in any folders.
sry about all this bro im kinda new with this and im learning and ty soo much for helping me out if i had a damn cell phone id just have you call me hahaha and walk me through it your deff getting the ty button if you can help me get my evo back ill donate like 20 bucks lol
should i unzip the files in the zip folder or put the whole zipped folder on the root of my sd card
just but the zip on your sd card do not extract it...
curious if this worked for him...
no i cant seem to get this to work i did everything that was told of me to do and still nothing when i hold down the volume button and power button to boot into recovery and i hit recovery it goes to the htc white screen and then all of a sudden my phones screen turns black and vibrates 5 times and in the top left hand corner the green light will flash and keep flashing and in order to restart my phone i have to pull the battery i cant just power it down
Having a similar problem too, keeps doing a boot loop, in the bootloader (clockworkmod) i cant get into recovery, tried many different pc36img.zip files to no avail. Mine gets to the 'htc EVO 4g' screen, holds a few seconds, then reboots, shows the white screen and reboots again, continues until i pull battery.
Trying more and more img.zips, hopefully i can find the right one to atleast get back to stock.

Just download the RUU. That will get you back to stock, but then you would need to re-root.
i tryed that but it came up error that my usb cord was not connected to my pc make sure its connected to phone and pc
Without using adb, I think running the ruu and starting over is your best bet.
Hey all!
I have a question, I recently tried to flash the stable CyanogenMod 7 for Wildfire. The ROM flashed but when it was installing no dialogue came up, I decided to reboot my phone to see if it had worked. I discovered that the ROM had not actually installed because my phone stayed on the HTC boot logo forever. I even left it on before I went to sleep to see if it would eventually boot into the software but no, it was still on the boot logo when I woke up. The logical solution to this would be to boot into the recovery screen but there's a problem with that, I can't. In getting my screen replaced in the past the volume buttons have been broken and therefore I cannot select the recovery option on the bootloader screen :\ Would anyone be able to offer me an alternative to booting into the recovery screen as I currently have no way of fixing my phone and am beginning to get pissed off with the ZTE Racer I'm using as a replacement...
Any help would be much appreciated!!
Try installing a RUU of 2.1 and then see if your volume buttons work. If not then contact HTC for a repair.
You misunderstand my problem, I think. I can't run the RUU because there is literally no software on my phone right now so RUU won't even recognise that it is connected to the PC because I can only access the Bootloader screen but cannot select any options because of my non-functional volume buttons. I'm pretty sure I can't send it back to HTC because my warranty is voided by the fact that I've rooted the phone and failed to install custom firmware on it and therefore it has been modified, please tell me if I'm wrong but I'm really in a predicament here. If I'm wrong about having voided my warranty would I be right in thinking any repair would be free?
EDIT: I managed to fix my phone. Pretty much all I had to do was load the bootloader, select fastboot, plug it into my PC and using the correct RUU I managed to restore my phone to stock ROM Thanks for the help!!
hi i have a rooted desire hd with a custom rom installed.and i done a hard reset, now phone wont restart,it comes up with htc logo then just says android and goes no further and i cant get in to recovery by holding down power and volume down
have you tryed removing the battery for 5 mins
and your sd card ? it could be the card
If I get the point, it's hanging on Boot Animation.
That might be because of a corrupt ROM you have flashed. Did you check the MD5Sum before flashing it?
Pull battery out and back in again. Hold volume down, press power once. Your phone will start into bootloader. Choose recovery and your in.
Get a correct rom (man, check the MD5Sums! - of course of the file which is on SD card ) push it onto your SD (you can mount your SD from recovery) and flash it again - full wipe before.

Thank u all for replying, sorted it out now.I used a tool called Android flasher.worked perfect
Sent from my HTC Sensation XL
nice candyman993 not easy to be with out the phone
good you got it sorted out
So earlier today I plugged in my charger into the phone, and it gave me an error messaging saying something about the cable being damaged, and System UI crashed. I unplugged it and made a mental note to buy another charger.
The device was having some issues with SystemUI properly rebooting, so I restarted the phone and got caught into a boot loop.
The device will not go past the HTC splash screen, just rebooting every few seconds.
It doesn't reboot when I go into the white screen bootloader, nor does ADB or fastboot oem detect it.
If I select download or recovery mode, one of two things happens:
1) It displays the monochromatic HTC logo for a few seconds and then reboots back into the normal bootloop.
2) It stays in the monochromatic HTC logo without doing anything else.
ADB does not work in any state, nor does trying to flash an RUU.
I've tried sticking an RUU with an SD Card and going into download mode, but nothing happens.
The device was running Leedroid at the time.
The bootloader is unlocked, and it is S-ON. It is a T-Mobile device with the Marshmallow Firmware installed.
I would very much appreciate help for this as I've been searching for solutions the entire afternoon.
I don't quite understand how a faulty cable would cause a bootloop but not completely fry the device.
Thanks.

So you can't even get to download mode by holding power+vol down for several seconds?

No, it just brings up the same issue of it getting stuck on the monochrome HTC logo.
no idea as i've never had this happen, but when i've had issues in the past i'd let the battery drain completely, then charge it a little, then try booting to download mode. maybe you could try that? did you have twrp or any custom recovery installed?

I've tried that, and I have the latest TWRP.
