2 Is the stock soundprocessing (EQ, Bass, 3D, adaptive Sound,...) built into the chipset or is it a software solution only ?

Do you all use stock or Viper ???
Hi everyone,
I noticed that in android 9 there were some dramatic changes in the audio department and apps like ViPER4Android or Dolby Atmos work only on Oreo.
Is there a way how to fine-tune the built-in speaker audio or even enable the earpiece as the secondary speaker?
Thanks.
Viper works on Pie.

The Unofficial Material 2.6
viper 1.7.3 from magisk app works fine on Pie ROMs, try it

Thank you. Yes it does.
I tried many modules of Dolby Atmos still cannot work with the December stock rom , anyone successful ??
I had an iPhone XR and wide stereo quality from front speakers was awesome when I watch music videos on YouTube.
Now I'm looking for something similar and would like also to install additional software for surround sound on the Pixel 3 but I can't find...
Moto eq on custom roms , you must be rooted I'm on Arrow and works like a charm ,from the great Munchyvideo

Razer Dolby Atmos is junk compared to MIUI's Dolby Atmos. Forget this module.
Same with Moto Dolby, although that one's even worse.
We have yet to get a great Dolby Atmos experience on Custom ROMs beside Xiaomi.eu.
Someone with coding skills needs to port MIUI Dolby Atmos or the one from Samsung.

Did you try the new AICP rom version? It's coming with Dolby. What's the difference between the MIUI/Samsung one and this?

Dolby Atmos is different from manufacturer to manufacturer. The sound will not be universally the same.
Though Samsung's Dolby Atmos seems similar to Xiaomi's in my experience, but Samsung may be the only exception. ^^
You can just think of Dolby Atmos as enabling Surround Sound.
Some Custom ROMs come with Lenovo's Moto Dolby, which sucks ass, unfortunately.
Haven't tried AICP, but enough other ROMs to say that Custom ROMs need better sound. I'm staying with Xiaomi.eu for the moment ^^
I have tried a lot of magisk modules for dolby
Razer's Samsung's and Moto's only difference is moto's was terrible.
The only good Dolby for AOSP roms in the one within AICP. Give it a try

What kind of Dolby Atmos does AICP have? Does it sound similar to MIUI Dolby or does it sound different?

I have no Idea I think its a modified version of the oneplus but you can see the changelog to be sure, keep in mind dolby atmos drains battery

AICP has Moto Audio.
Eversince i bought this phone, i always turn on dolby atmos, especially the video preset. It makes the speaker much louder and fuller when listening to music and videos. But when launching games, the sound noticably weaker and flatter as if Dolby atmos is disabled.
I have tried to toggle Atmos from the QS button but no difference. I tried it on Spotify, the disabled atmos speaker sound is similar to when playing games. Toggling the "enhance audio" option in game turbo doesn't have any effect on sound quality either.
Does this problem always there for everyone or it is just my phone?
Here's my phone details:
Poco F3 128GB
Stock MIUI 13.0.5.0 SKHIDXM Stable
it should theoretically work. i'm not on MIUI, but in an AOSP Custom ROM with a Dolby Magisk Module and it works everywhere.

Yeah i have the same problem as you. Was trying to find a solution and i found your thread. It's most noticeable in games and ringtones.

Me too were trying threads that discusses this issue but surprisingly i can't find one. I don't know whether this some random chance that our phone just doesn't work or it's the same for everyone
Do you guys just use Stock MIUI ROM or a Custom ROM like Xiaomi.eu ?
I remember playing Dead by Daylight on Xiaomi.eu MIUI 13 (don't remember if Stable or Weekly), and Dolby Atmos definitely worked during that gaming-session!
I'll be going from AOSP back to Stock Poco MIUI. Will check for Dolby in Games.
