Hey guys,
I've just got a microsoft surface and this is my first ms tablet (all my devices are android). I was wondering if there's an app or a configuration to force the tablet to keep the classic windows view and start button always on.

I just saw this article today. I guess it'll be time to start cooking some 6.1 ROM's soon
Most Microsoft-powered smartphones being released today are powered by some form of Windows Mobile 6, but it seems like the popular mobile operating system is due for another update. It's not exactly Windows Mobile 7, but the upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.1 will bring about a whole new user interface similar to the one found on the Vodafone Treo 500v.
The innovation is being called a "carousel." Instead of launching a series of applications, you are asked "what do I want to do today?" Along the top of the display are a number of "zones" which you navigate between by going left or right. Within each of these zones are various "actions" and these are accessed by moving up and down.
Other updates to be included in Windows Mobile 6.1 are improved WiFi connectivity, Exchange integration, and better implementation of Bluetooth technology. The announcement of the "new" OS is rumored for February with an actual launch on actual handsets tentatively scheduled for May.

Good news.. but its a bit old news
Is it? I thought I finally had a scoop for you guys. Sorry if it's old news, but it sounds like an interesting change coming...
drgopoos the mobile jammer on this site http://www.onlygizmos.com/ would be nice to have
the bad part is that it looks like it may not be designed for phones with a touch screen (smartphone only not pocket pc) so the upgrade may not work on the hermes.

hahhah me too
Meh, I dunno. To me NEW doesn't seem better in this case. Not a fan of the What Do You Want To Do Today sound of things.
This is for Windows Mobile Standard (smartphone), not professional (pocket pc phone) hence why it doesnt seem like it's gonna work well with touch screen.

I am happy to use it on WM professional all the same. I use softkeys and D-Pad a lot to navigate the screen anyway. So bring it on!!!
http://www.theunwired.net/?item=dev...gory=01-general-news&category=01-general-news saw this seams like a great idea also could as it says make a remote control for vista/xp media centre that works would be fantastic think of the possibilities any devs fancy a challenge..
Cooooooooooooooooooool
this is what i have been waiting for. Thankx for the update
Cool, I can't wait till there's something downloadable to play with. I used Rudeo MCE control with XP MCE, but I don't think it works with Vista Media Center.
Cube Dev leading to a Sideshow Enviroment (Raven_coda and Kona_Mtbkr???)
Seeing the work that Raven_coda and Kona_Mtbkr have done to emulate the Cube, I wonder if they would be interested in turning their hands to emulating the, so-far, unreleased Sideshow for Windows Mobile.
It looks like a pretty swanky interface and I'm sure that, if it were available now, most people would be racing to get in onto their devices.
Obviously it is more complicated than the Cube in that each page has live/updating data displayed, but what a project to get your teeth into.
It could be created in page form like the Cube, with sweeping motions to move to the next page and even be called up by the DownUp sweeping motion used to open the Cube. The opening could also included a rotation of the screen.
Just a suggestion...
i like that idea of having the information from sideshow, whats playing now with wmp, or rss, or stocks or email from the mail sideshow, that would be great.
or on the HTC Home screen where you go left or right to view each sideshow gadgets displayed information.
Hi Guys!
A friend of mine has a Nokia cellphone that is connected trough bleutooth with his laptop. When he wants to sent a SMS, he simply uses the software on his laptop to quickly sent these messages. Also when he has an incoming call, a small pop-up windows appears at the bottem of his laptopscreen with the caller ID.
Is there a software that can do this for the HD?
Thnx!
I use mymobiler application...
Do a search with google

Thanks for the suggestion, pretty cool software, like a free premium version of MyMobiler, with remote task manager, remote registry editor, video recording screen actions, etc - HD-compatible, in English or French language versions.

But I think the threadstarter, quoting Nokia Comms Suite, is more interested in software with very similar features, and at that MDesktop excels. The other two allow you to send and receive SMS in a UI similar to Outlook Express resp. from inside Outlook 2007.

I came across TrueConnect from Raspberry Soft...
bot not sure about the name of the prog cos i didn't use it for long...
this basicly allows you to control your HD from desktop with your mouse and keyboard when you move your mouse to the edge of the screen - then the cursor appears on your device and you are good to go it is funny, you can customize which edge to cross to get to device (top, left, right)...
As far as I remember, you can even switch the program to display your HD's screen on your laptop's screen and control it from there.
So I guess it is cool - BTW google it...you should find it real quick.
Hope this helps.
PS: I am not sure about connectivity...I used USB2PC connection and don't whether there is another option...
SOTI Pocket Controller PRO is my favourite
very easy to use and even have suitable skin for you to choose
Thnx for all the fast responses! I'm going to check al your suggestions!

Full control of your Win Mo PPC. It's not for free but I think it's really cool and helpfull.
Any recommendations on a keyboard for the Dell Streak 7? Hopefully about the size from F1-F12 on a "regular" keyboard. I thought maybe I could use a clipboard if necessary.
I am signing up with the Google Business Apps since Windows Mobile 7 is way behind now on syncing documents.

Will you also be supporting Windows 7? Not all windows tablet users (such as people with Intel Atom N2600/N2800 chips) have the option to use Windows 8, and unless this is an RT app I can't see why you couldn't also make it work on 7...?
I've installed it on my Windows 8 X64 tablet and whe I run it, it just doesn't work. TouchPalToolBar is into process list but I can't call it in any way.
Any advice?
Edit: after a restart it works, but the Curve feature not. When I swipe on the keyboard appears the blue line but it doesn't write anything.
The version I downloaded from their website was in Chinese. Did not have an option for English. If you have the english version, please share it or link to where you downloaded it.
Installed this on my msi 110w tablet with windows 8 and it's all screwy...
It overlays on top of the stock keyboard (you can actually see both of them at the same time)... Then it has two different keyboard layouts, but one is unresponsive.... Then the swipe function doesn't work most of the time... If the keyboard is enabled on a browser, you can't scroll the page, so sometimes you end up typing "blind" because you can't see where on the page you're typing.
