I bought a new Nexus 5X. And tested it some days.
And I hate the battery. Firstly it doesn't really load when the screen is on (have a look on another Thread I've posted) and secondly the battery drain is very high. When I'm surfing using Chrome the battery percentage is falling rapidly with about 1 percentage every 3-4 minutes, so I only get a SOT of about max 4h. Is it normal with a 1080p and 5,2 Screen? My Moto G 1. Gen were more better than this phone, but it's smaller and has only 720p.
I'm using Android 6.0.1, which should have a bug draining the battery?! Is that right? Is it even possible to Downgrade to 6.0 without unlocking it, because I want not lose my warranty.
What if I Update to Beta Android N? Would there some Bugs fixed?

You should look into this thread:

The gist of it is everyone has different SOT ranging from 3 to 6 hours.

Hello
I am currently on stock rooted rom on 4.4.2. I never bothered updating since it served my purposes of watching movies.
I need to gift my nexus to someone I know, so wanted to update and unroot before giving. Would anyone please tell me how the performance and battery life is on 6.0.1 stock (will be used unrooted most likely)? I have the Wifi 2013 nexus 7
I understand it may be too obvious of an answer butI searched the thread but could not find an answer. Been away from xda for a long time. Good to be back!
I have owned my Nexus 7 since Christmas it came with 6.0.1 Marshmallow installed and I am very happy with the performance and battery life. I don't know how it compares with an n7 running 4.4.2 but I have had plenty of android devices in the past 5 years all rooted etc so know good from bad. Just be aware that some n7 owners have had issues with firmware updates leading to bricked tablets. I would say go for it, do a full wipe first though and maybe use the excellent Nexus Root Toolkit by Wugfresh. Enjoy.
Pretty Great!
I am not running stock. I am on Commotio by TeamVanir and I get 1-2% discharge on standby during 12-16hours and when I am using it and watching youtube over wifi or just general browsing on reddit and google plus or chrome I get around 5-7hrs of SOT. My tablet is around 2 years old now and I used to charge once every 3 days so its battery is also not what it used to be when it was new.
Stock rooted, I use about 8%/hour (reading, internet connected, dim screen), about 10%/hour browsing the web, dim screen). I routinely let it sit on a Qi charger when not it use, so can't comment on the standby time. Subjectively, much better than I saw on KK.
I just updated mine recently to Marshmallow from Kit Kat as well. I had an issue on 6.0.1 with standby battery drain being about %10 overnight, even though it appeared to enter doze correctly. I couldn't identify any wakelocks that accounts for this drain.
I switched to 6.0.0 and it's much better now, completely same settings and apps. Overnight, it's probably a 1.5% loss, if that. Overall, battery performance is improved. But for me, 6.0.1 didn't work out. Not quite sure why.

When you flash a new build you have to wait for a couple of charge recharge cycles until it correctly displays the battery. On a different ROM normally i lose 1% per hour on standby but after just updating and for the first few cycles even in dozd I loose more than 10% and sometimes even 50% during the night but it settles down after a charge cycle.

Good information, thanks! I had already given it a couple weeks and few discharges, but I'd be willing to try again and hope it will work itself out.
But is the performance better or worse? And is rooting / unlocking still no problem?
Hi,
Do you have problems with the battery life on the stock ROM?
No matter what version I am running like 7.0 or 7.1 the battery life is still bad like 2:30 hours of screen on time while just looking on Facebook and Twitter, nothing hard...
My Moto G 2013 had 5 hours in those conditions even more sometimes and that's strange beacuse 5X has a larger battery and perhaps a more energy efficient SoC.
Do you know any costum ROM wich has great battery life and RAM management?

Seems pretty normal for the N5X. Try the search function or read the Advanced Interactive Governor thread for options to you can try. Don't expect miracles though.
720p screen phones with weaker processing will get longer battery life than a 1080p screen phone with stronger processing. Moto G devices get some of the longest battery life for this reason.
2.5 hours is especially low for a 5x though. 3-4 would be average when draining from 100% to 0% while actively using the screen a lot, and I regularly see 5-6 hours SoT with my usage.
Couldn't say anymore without screenshots. There is a battery thread in General for sharing screenshots and you can see examples of which to post.
It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Huawei P10 Lite before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
hi guys, so no one can inform us about the battery life?
I'm quite happy with my screen on-time. I get between 6 and close to 8 hours of use during the day, sometimes a bit less, depending on my usage. All in all, I'm very happy [emoji4]

Battery life is decent. My last phone had a 4000mah battery and this battery lasts the same or maybe a little bit better! I get betwwen 5-9hrs SOT with my usage.
Great SOT on this device. I constantly get 6+ hours. I can get at least an hour and a half or even more SOT with current battery level.
I get 6 hours+ with my moderate heavy usage.

So it's been quite a few months since my last post, and just more than a year of owning the phone, and I'm currently getting between 3 and 4 hours of screen on time lately, and have had to charge my phone a lot more often.
How is everyone else's battery holding up?

i play pokemon go and i cant go out without my powerbank now, im lucky if i get 3,5 hours of on-screen time, but without playing pokemon go; i will replace the battery next week (about 30€ legit battery) but may be due to a kernel bug on latest builds (remote chance)

I've been playing Asphalt 8, and now Asphalt 9, but my battery only started going down after the last update or two. Maybe it could just be the kernel, like you said. [emoji848]
Please let me know how it goes once you've replaced the battery? [emoji4]

Finally, I will try to replace it this week by myself, 17€ legit battery on Amazon, and yes, I'll tell you how it goes with the new battery (but my drain issues started with the 2 latest builds) (latest build B370)
Go to custom ROM. I am using Elemental V3 and I get medium usage battery life(always on, GPS_on, data_on, WIFI_on) for 1.5-2 days. Around 8 on continuous usage(internate, fb, netflix, GPS_on, data_on, WIFI_on). I am very pleased till now. I was using the Official one and got around 4 hours of battery life on high usage.

I'm on stock ROM, latest b168 build and SOT is still perfect. I have over 4 hours now, and battery is still around 40%. Wi-Fi and mobile data are always on, automatic screen brightness is also set. I don't know why you get so bad SOT.
Sorry, my P10 lite fainted on 28/09, just few minutes after the battery change, It literally passed by RIP, i bought a Xiaomi MI A1 for 144,30€ on AliExpress Plaza with disccount coupon, i can easy obtain 7-8 hours of screen on time now playing Pokemon go sometimes, can raid 2 times with a 4% of power consumption
Hi k have a xt1635-05 running the latest retail firmware on 8.0
I will upload some screen shots later after work but the battery life is dismal. Whether it was rooted or not.
It is now running magisk 19.4.
The problem is it seems the phone is using power for mobile standby as the biggest user.
Hopefully some screenshots will show what I'm up against. Was going to use xpe13 but want Moto mod functionality atm as the latest xpe 13 doesn't detect my inspico battery.
Cheers
Screenshots to follow later after work
Well downgraded to 7.0 stock at the moment and no real improvement so I'm starting to think it's the battery in the device that just isn't holding charge much nowadays. Charges to 100% fairly well but it just all depletes within about 10 hours.
Shame I have to remove the bloody screen to change the battery

You could try installing the AccuBattery app from the play store. It'll estimate the total capacity in mAh that the battery can still hold after a few charges.
I normally use accubattery and was going to install that next. Will report back with results in about a week
Battery drain and charging with Moto turbo charger and my first day with accubattery on this device.
What other apps can I use to see if I can find what's causing this kind of drain??
Tbh it all looks the same on 8.0 as well which leads me to believe maybe the battery is shot and although chargers to 100 fairly easily (old nexus 6p struggled past 80% and took over an hour to get to 100 from 80) this just screams that the battery needs replacing like my axon 7 needed.
Any thoughts??
How do I upload what processes are running etc from terminal? I can root it again if needs be
Hello
I just received my s20 plus for a week now and the battery life just like my old s7 edge after 4 years .. 3.5 to 4.5 SOT .
Is this normal ?
Same here mate, but this might improve with software updates.... At least I hope so

I hope.. i am afraid that the device has high power consumption design that with time should only get worse.
Give it 4 days to settle down. But yes it does drain faster than s10+. I knew that before pre-ordering but I thought Samsung would have figured something out...
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Guys this is completely normal for the phone to drain this fast, the phone is learning all your usage patterns in order to adjust the battery, use this time to go over the settings and tweak it to your liking. Also in the s10+ forum there is a battery optimisation post, go over there and apply it to your phone. Also maybe you are using the ultra high definition and 120hz, maybe start with that to tweak it.
Another thing is if you just restore the phone from a backup, this can bring corrupted settings that might be the culprits do factory reset and install all from zero without a backup.
''maybe you are using the ultra high definition and 120hz, maybe start with that to tweak it.''
thats physically IMPOSSIBLE now
I assume that you are using the exynos versions?

I had 7 1/2 sot yesterday SD 120hz
Second day, 120Hz is lovely but damn, I'm at home connected to my WiFi and it's draining like crazy, I'm worried how is it gonna look when I go outdoors to the college and will be using LTE. I'm on Exynos
I'm getting 2 hours of SOT through my day (7 am to 10 pm)
It's been a week that I've been using the Exynos version @ 120Hz RR. Battery life is way worse than S10+ on similar settings, tweaks and usage pattern.
I have charged my phone for the 2nd time and i get +- 5 hours of sot. I use everything on the phone, 120hz etc. The battery is still in the learning pattern phase...getting same battery life as I got on my S10+. I get roughly 24 hours with one charge and 6 hours is included when I sleep...The battery will get better. With my S10+ I got 24-36 hours of battery time with +- 3-5 hours sot...depending on usage...So if I can get the same or a bit better I would be very happy

I'm reading pretty bad about the Exynos Ultra as well in different but reliable sources. It's a pain to have a primary driver that dies mid-day on medium usage, that era of "unacceptable batterylife" on a flagship is believed to be over years back. I remember me behaving in an uncivilized? manner with the ones who tried to defend Exynos S9+ in every online forum when the culprit was the SoC itself to start with..
no wonder they didnt want to enable 120hz at 2K res - it would kill the battery in 1h probably

7.5hrs screen on time? How? First person I've heard that high.
I have the S20+ with the snapdragon processor. I think the battery life is very good, way better than my P4XL. I have 4 hours sot right now and have 60% left. I'm using 120 hz refresh rate. I believe it has gotten better over time, either from "settling" or updates, or maybe my imagination, haven't actually checked but some nights I go to bed after a day of light use and I'm shocked at the battery left. I unplug at 6am and at 10pm I've seen 80% battery left. That's minimal use like I said, not a typical day.
I think the battery life is quite alright, on par with my second phone (OnePlus 7 pro)
Exynos/12gb ram/120hz: stranded on 12%, so it would be around 7.5hours of SOT in full day.
Note: got the phone 3 days ago, it's still settling.View attachment 4977585

I have the snapdragon version and the battery on this thing is a BEAST!
Going on 34 hours off the charger and 7 hours of sot. I have done nothing to conserve battery. Loads of apps/accounts syncing. I am super impressed. Way better then my s10+ was.
120hz on, about mid-brightness, I'm lasting all day use with my personal usage habits. Battery life is as good if not a bit better than on my Note 10+. Snapdragon here on T-Mobile. Mostly WiFi. But it's only been about a week of use.
Can't complain at all.
ETA: Also BT always on using with my Frontier watch and Galaxy Buds on occasion.
