So I have a rooted Xperia Play with a 32 GB SD card. I'm wanting to upgrade to a 64 GB SD card. I only use the Xperia for emulators. So my question is, could I transfer save states, root, current android version, and everything else over to the new SD card without any issues? No bricking? (I only have a general knowledge of all this). Would really appreciate some assistance!

hi,
i have a Desire that's now rooted with a 8GB SD card,
just wanting to know if i can now upgrade to a 16GB card without having to make it a goldcard like i had to with the 8GB?
Thx for any help
I don't think you need the Gold Card when you are rooted, so you can upgrade safely .
IIRC you still need a goldcard even with root. Not 100% though.
I used gold card to go from stock to root... and then I threw it away, never used it ever again and I flash daily
Thx for the help guys..
save me starting a new topic,

You could just move your apps back to internal memory and then swap out the card and reformat.
I think its even easier:
Dismount SD card, remove and insert in PC, copy its contents and then copy them to your new card. Insert new card.
That's what I did when I formated my card when I was suspicious it had errors. No need to move data to memory.
Just bought a 32 GB SD card to put in my Evo (8 just isn't enough!), and despite how dumb I feel asking, this is important- will I have to root again or is the root process a phone-specific thing?
No, just be sure to copy the files on your 8gb > 32gb and you'll be all set.
dido. the only dumb questions are the ones not asked. the only thing the sd will effect is the swap used by recovery, you'll still have root with or without an sd card
Hey guys i just bought sandisk 32 gb micro sd card class 10, and i wonder is it possible to install games and apps directly to sd card? If so how to do it? I havent rooted my phone.

Hi,
i have a 16 GB Sandisk MicroSD for my SGS4. This card contains lots of music and photos and some games (like solitare, Riptide, Asphalt etc)
Now, i bought a new 64Gb SanDisk MicroSD for SGS4.
i copied all the folders from the 16Gb card and pasted in my new 64 Gb card. Power off the sgs4 and replaced the card and powered on.
phone was successfully booted up and am able to see everything like pics, music etc. but am not able to see any of the games which i moved to the sd card. it says application not installed.
So, my questions is how can i transfer the games also to my new SD card? appreciate your help
Any one please. i tried different methods, but none of them seem to be working.

I think it has to do with something with the sd card partition, because most 64 gb micro sd card has that issue, so you're not the only one, i have a similar issue, where my music is affected and most of my files (besides picture) are unreadable,in addition, try using a rom or kernel with exFat compatiability, and then try and use your sd card and see if some files work, it somewhat worked for me. But i'll be honest, what good is a 64 gb card if we can't use it?
