New H815 user: disappointing experience. Pls help - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I just bought a new LG G4 from my mobile provider.
After being a happy HTC one user for more than 2 1/2 years the battery got really bad and I couldn't leave home without my power pack.
So I've switched now to the LG G4. The removable battery was my main decisive factor.
But I'm now very disappointed.
The battery drains very fast. It's no improvement to my old phone and I'm again carrying the battery pack with me :crying:
Even while typing this the battery level dropped about 7%
Now I'm considering returning the phone and choosing another one.
The phone is branded by three *annoying* and it's running Android 6.0 V20e.232.10, build MRA58K.
I would like to try to install another ROM or root the phone to see whether the battery life can improve significantly. But not sure about that because I'll probably won't be able to return the phone then in case I still won't be satisfied.
Do you have any suggestions?
Thank you and regards

Mine did it too. If your drainer is android system keep awake, then reboot when you remove the charger.
Anyways, because of that now i have cm instead of stock.

i have heard that MM battery is bad compared to LP.. maybe try to flash KDZ of lollipop but read carefully and see if you can downgrade.. as theres antirollback v1-2-3
foe exmaple my h811 i can downgrade to LP 10N..antirollback v2 and MM 20i is V2 so i can change from that LP version to MM 20i.. new released has v3. not sure about your variant.. just lettign you know..if you want to downgrade then ask and read before flashing KDZ... i get over 4 hours with root and debloated.. using whats app facebook app and 4G..

20h
try 20h version. much better. 20e has battery issues. i'm on 20h and after a full day, i have 20-30 %

just an addition: u should install with lg up - refurbish and the first few there is a drain until the rom settles. after that this is the best rom - without loosing waranty- that there is

Thanks a lot for your suggestions!
Really appreciate it!
I'd like to try V20h.
Is it possible to return later to my stock Austrian Three V20e ROM?

What is your 3 first sn numbers ? From 505 until 508 are prone to everheating and battery draining issues also try to install battery stats to see what's draining you battery. By the way try to disable activity log from settings - about phone it seems to affect battery

Use a clean stock rom its marshmallow version good battery life u dont need root or anything ...if ur already on MM just use lg flashtool cse method or u can use LGUP method goto my thread and see the comments...u will be happy after flashing this update hit like it helps
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/lg-g4-twn-june-security-patch-update-t3407694/page8

My serial starts with 603. So it should be fine.
For now I've disabled the activity log and restarted the phone as suggested. I hope it helps.
I don't want to lose the the option to return my phone.

This is not acceptable by any standard. This is not a ”this rom has terrible battery issues, try another” thing.
I'm on stock marshmallow and have more than 5 hours SOT, phone lasts more than a day with moderate use (anything but gaming).
Find out what the culprit is using programs that do battery stats. It may even be a defective battery.
Flashing only to solve this, is like formatting a PC to solve delayed start.
Edit: in general older phones had much better battery life than newer phones, mainly due to smaller and lower resolution screens, fewer and less sensitive sensors, etc. This may come as a surprise, but unfortunately this is how things are right now. A phone that can last more than a day is a good phone battery wise these days.

I would recommend to backup sensitive stuff and flash with LGUp the v20F KDZ from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/firmware-lgh815bal-baltics-01-baltics-t3394113 (I live in Europe). I got better battery life than with v20D that I had before and zero issues so far (I have it for about a month now). I did not unlock or root it yet because of the dreaded bootloop issue.

Thank you all for your suggestions!
I was at the three shop today were I've bought the phone. Returning it is not possible any more, although it's not even been 7 days since I bought it.
I could send it in to get it checked.
So I guess I will try to flash one of the suggested kdz.
Too bad it's not possible to root MM without unlocking the bootloader.
You can find attached my today's battery stats. Maybe you think it's ok. But I'm disappointed.
Regards

Sounds great! Thank you!
So I could flash Lollipop and root it without unlocking bootloader.
Can I later return easily to my stock ROM?
I think I've just found it by analyzing the LG Bridger traffic:

Maybe someone else finds it useful.

[Q] Actual cell standby fix?

Hello lovelies from XDA
Before you say anything about not reading the other threads about cell standby, I'm just going to say I've read them all.
I bought the GT-I9195 with 4.2.2 Android in T-mobile Croatia. It took 2 days before I finnaly lost my mind from all the bloatware and decided to root it.
Used the S4 mini rootkit v2 to root the phone and got rid of all the yahoo widgets, knox, backgrounds... almost everything.
I tried removing the SD card and had no change in results. Battery shows that in 16 hours, cell standby used 37% of the battery with 76% of time without signal. Is that normal for a 2G network?
So, my question is: Is there an actual fix for this or just speculation what may or may not work. If flashing a custom rom fixes it, I'll take it, but only as my last option since I quite like the stock rom.

I read that new stock 4.4.2 TW rom is very good on battery, you might want to try that... Read up a liitle more before you go for it though, as you can not downgrade without tripping knox in case you don't like it or wish to try other alternatives..

The new stock 4.4.2 still has that terrible battery drain problem. It drains 20% overnight with everything off...
Read some info here how to partly fix that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=54401764
@Termich if you're rooted already, you may have tripped knox, so the best solution would be to try custom kernel from rooting thread.

The phone is normal as before. Only text in download mode says that warranty is void.
But that doesn't mean warranty won't repair your phone because of hardware problem... Some people got repaired their phones with 0x1 status.

Thanks for all the answers. I've flashed the custom kernel and we'll see if there's any improvement. As far as Knox goes, I'm not really concerned about it :good:

Recover on from bootloop on H815 EU

Hi guys,
Yesterday I got sweaty hand palms.
My EU 815 G4 is unlocked, the official way, and I had rooted it.
Then I tried to install xposed from twrp and I did something wrong, and ended up in bootloop...
I have just updated to v20b before, and forgot to connect the phone to the PC, and allow the PC debug access before installing xposed, so i could see the phone in ADB mode, but couldn't access it.
Of course I hadn't made a backup before this - I like to cry
Just as a desperate try, when everything else had failed, i thought about using the new tool provided by shakeyabooti LG UP to flash the factory KDZ all over
I put the phone in SW. update mode by:
1. Turning off the phone
2. connecting USB cable to the PC
3. Press and hold vol. up while connecting the USB cable to the phone
Then i downloaded the v20b KDZ file, provided by Autoprime (since this was what i where allready running)
Opened LG UP, loaded the H81520B_00.kdz, marked REFURBISH
Lastly i pressed "Start" and waited for about 15-20 minutes and "TADAAAA"
The phone where up and running again... only things lost where root and TWRP
- Sharing since I'm properly not the only one ending up in this kind of mess
Just tried it no luck :/
So just to confirm...unlocking bootloader official way does void warranty and we can not send it in for repairs?

Indeed. Maybe you'll find a cool employee at your vendor who will still do it, but your warranty is definately void and they don't need to do anything. Depends on how acommodating the employee is. If you're stuck in a bootloop @rakinisbat just follow the steps in this thread.
And please keep in mind that there's a way to get out of bootloops 99% of the time (in fact 100% if it's a software related problem), you just have to do a good search on xda. Furthermore there's an uninstaller app for xposed in the official rovo89 thread, which you can flash via recovery and it which undos the xposed installation and your phone will boot fine (if you can access TWRP - just flash it). If you have further questions you can PM me, always happy to help

Thanks Mate, I guess ill have to try my luck with LG,
I have that batch of H815 with the faulty motherboard, unfortunately I'm in that 1% *Sigh* :crying:
Tried literally everything i could with the software, pretty much confirmed it is the motherboard.
It looks like the KDZ is flashing properly, as LGUP shows whichever kdz i put on, but the actual hardware is not capable of booting into the OS.

Nope, my bootloader is unlocked, im a flash-a-holic, longest i have lasted without rooting or unlocking a bootloader is about 2 weeks. I would have never imagined such a massive hardware issue with a flagship phone. I'll probably get a nexus 6P atleast it has better support than a LG. I'm in Australia, I imported this phone when it was released, so i have to send this phone overseas if i want it repaired, which they will most likely deny.
Sooooo over LG now! There are like hundreds if not thousands that are effected they are not even acknowledging it or providing a viable solution.

It doesn't matter what firmware you have got. Bootloop is happening because of hardware failure.

Thank you for the info. How is the battery life in 25A compared to 24C? I saw mixed comments.
Also, if I flash the update following the instruction, I would lose all my files on my phone, right?

There should be some options in the app, one called REFURBISH and one call UPGRADE. Choosing UPGRADE will just upgrade with all data intact as if you were taking an OTA update.
As for the battery life, I can't say that I noticed any substantial increase or decrease in battery life. If I had to lean one way, I would say that battery life improved, but only a little.

first you dont know what you have.. i suggest to open the phone and take out motherboard. see plaque model if it says h811 then you have h811 if its says ls9 then you have sprint.. thats the only way. they maybe edited software easy to do.. but you can not change model in plaque ..

I suggest you to not customize anything because there is nothing good when it comes to customizing a refurbished phone even flashing official kdz just let it go or you would be in your worst case of customizing
But if you insist you may want to search about qualcomm 9008 mode a little

I have battery issues too its lg bloatwares but you should have root to modify system and remove crapware(some of them can be disabled through apps menu)
First, try some apps like kingo .etc and see if those apps work because king root worked for me when i had h811 10n rom however its super user app is nothing but bull****...it will do the trick on the other hand.
Second(which i really dont recommend),try low effort root and injecting rooted system with send command and adb search for it in this forum and you will find it.
What i strongly recommend is getting along with it
Because this phone does nt worth the hassle to modify any thing on it if you have a refurbished device
Peace✌

H818P V20G- ILAPO - enabling cores

Yesterday my LG G4 bootlooped, I fixed it with LGUP by upgarding the .tot file.
Now my LG runs only on 1 core, even though in the .tot it's set it should run on 4.
Is there any other way to enable them or to make the remaining 3 work? The phone is very slow.
I read that can be done via app, but it requires root. I checked and see there is no way to root H818P on android 6.0? Or am I wrong?
Read that there is some way to unlock the bootloader, and flash CUstom Recovery with SuperSU to root, is that possible for this model?
Really, I just need anything that could make me enable the 4 cores, leaving the big ones off. Has anyone made that working on H818P ?
I would appreciate any help, my local LG support said "they never heard of any bootloops".:good:
No unlock for H818 till the moment. Hopefully it will be achieved by @steadfasterX in a not so distant future :fingers-crossed:
Just go to an LG Authorized Service Center and ask for they to raplace your motherboard. LG reconigsed the problem and changes the faulty mb with a new one even after the warranty period is over.
Also, dont forget the thanks button in the post if I helped, thanking is a thing in xda :good:

I read that can be done via app, but it requires root. I checked and see there is no way to root H818P on android 6.0? Or am I wrong?
Read that there is some way to unlock the bootloader, and flash CUstom Recovery with SuperSU to root, is that possible for this model?
Really, I just need anything that could make me enable the 4 cores, leaving the big ones off. Has anyone made that working on H818P ?
I would appreciate any help, my local LG support said "they never heard of any bootloops".:good:

Hmmm ....
My knowledge is the G4 has 6 Cores? My H815 has 6 Cores...
Anyway, do a Refurbish in LGUP to MM 6.0 with H81520p_00_0314.kdz...normaly this kdz should work on H818P too, but not 100% sure.

The case is, those cursed with ILAPO need to disable 2 big cores to make the phone work. Otherwise phone loops on startup, or if you put it in a freezer for an hour, starts and functions for 5 minutes.
But anyway I downgraded to Lollipop, rooted and enabled remaining cores with Kernel adiutor. Phone works well. Anybody facing the same problem with H818P - this is the quickest way to save your phone if your phone is already hit with ILAPO and you don't qualify for warranty.

You ever try a Welding iron to heat up the cpu ? I did it on 4 Phones successful, G3, two G4 and a V10 and they still running. I know the Patch for Lollipop 5.0 / 5.1 it dissable the A53 with two cores. Its all a big Experience, good luck

After I disabled two cores, rooted phone and worked oly on 4 cores, I managed to have the phone working for 7 months.
Suddenly it hit again and even turning big cores off didn't work.
After baking the motherboard it works 2 days but then it hits again.
No cure found and guess it's too late for warranty. Needed to buy a new phone.
