unlocked Z1C won't work with Vodafone - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

the phone only finds Telekom, o² and ePlus networks, but not Vodafone
same sim card works fine in my Huawei Tablet all across the house
is this a hardware damage or can it be fixed by software?
also, customization number says 1279-5363 which resolves to "Saudi Arabia" or "Lebanon" says Google
which can not be as i got this phone fresh-boxed from the UK!

Don't know much about this stuff, but a simple fix might be to use Flashtoo/Xperifirm to flash different fw region.

tried both Customized DE and Vodafone DE (for Germany) but still nothing
strange: while rooting with KingRoot, it got network for about a minute...!

it dissapears again at 59%

[Q] T-Mobile G2 on AU - Vodafone

Hi everyone,
i recently picked up a G2 on a US trip and am currently trying to set it up to work on the AU vodafone network.
i have gone through the sim "unlock" process, so it should be free to accept any sim card. (it also doesnt prompt me for an unlock code anymore, so im assuming it worked)
when i put the vodafone sim card in the phone, it detects the sim (there is the sim folder in the menu, with the vodafone sim options) and when i use "*#*#4636#*#* i see that there is something in the signal strength (-97dBm 8 asu).
BUT
when i goto settings ->wireless & networks -> mobile networks -> network operators i get an error saying "error while searching for networks"
any ideas?
Shouldn't this be in the G2 forum, not the DZ one ?
Thread moved to G2 General.
I am very interested to know how everything works out for you when you get it resolved.
Im moving to Melbourne from San Francisco in 3 weeks and I am on the fence if I should get a Iphone 4 or a HTC g2
*currently own a HTC Evo ..sadly i have to sell it

welcome to the club my friend
Unfortunately we have the same issue as you but we haven't find a solution yet. So far i have figured out that the phone after unlocking cannot read properly CID and MNCMCC codes from sim.

jee... sounds like the club to be in
5 days now i am trying for a solution. So far nothing to say. Just that users with same problem increase day by day. This might be good as htc will have to pay attention.
i dont know if its me, or if anyone else has noticed this, but if you change the band (auto - USA - Euro - Japan - Aus - Aus2)
then go and try to search for networks, the speed that the error comes up is different... its always the same error though....

You are right about that.
hi, i guess i need to join this club .. any progress for the solution?
I'm using a G2 on Vodafone AU and having no problems at all ...
If I click search networks it sort of just stops immediately with VodafoneAU down the bottom.
The one issue I'm having is that numbers are formatted for US ... anyone know how I change this?
I'm not sure if this is a real long-shot but I had some strange problems with my old Vodafone sim in a HTC Magic. I ended up just going into a Vodafone store and asking for a new SIM and the problems vanished immediately. They give you a new SIM on the spot free so it may be worth a try?
Is your phone working unlocked with the tmobile sim? If it isn't you're got the problem a lot of people have been having with unlocking the G2.
Otherwise, try rebooting your phone with your AU sim search for networks automatically and enter your APN settings. Alternatively if it doesnt find networks, go to Vodafone to get a new sim card. I'm also on Vodafone and I'm not having any problems with my current Tmobile Phone (Cliq) and G2 coming in the mail
Fixed by rooting and gfree
Hi! I had this exact same problem: unlocked a T-mobile G2 bought in the US so that I could use it on Greece's Vodaphone network. After unlocking and trying to check for networks, it would just say "Error while searching for networks".
Solution: I found the solution here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision#Subsidy_Unlock.2C_SuperCID.2C_and_Radio_S-OFF which describes an extra security measure that was taken on these phones and why you get this error because of it. The fix, described in detail on that page, involves routing your phone and then running a program to change this security "feature".
I followed the directions on that wiki page and it worked perfectly! It now connects to my vodaphone network here, and can see other networks that are around.
Note that as this is altering the software on your phone, it probably voids any warranty. But, I'll say with my US t-mobile G2 it worked very smoothly.
Hope this gives some insight to any others having this problem!

[Q] RIL / sim problem

I have a problem with the sim card to work properly in Android. Using libhtcgeneric-ril.so several times a day I can not make a call (the message after one second "Call ended"), nor to check the status of my ballance (USSD code running... "Connection problem or invalid MMI code"). Incoming calls work normal. The same problems also makes switching to flight mode-only reset helps. What is interesting I can't see my provider on network operators. Changing radio didn't help. I tested the Scoot's Ril update, but there I have the same problems and more signal issue. For WM roms everything works fine. Now I use libhtc-ril.so from HTC Wildfire and everything works fine (even shows SIM Toolkit in menu), however data connections are not working. Is any solution for my problems? Sorry for my bad english.
upgrade or downgrade radio rom version try 1.7x.xx version
Thanks for the answer but this was the first thing what I did. I tried different versions radio (1.65.21.18, 1.71.09.01, 1.70.19.09), many kernels and distro as well as two different sim cards from my provider but the problem remains. Is it possible that our libhtcgeneric-ril does not see my provider properly (PL Play)?
Did you try other providers sim cards? Era,Orange, Plus?
I checked the Orange POP. After flight mode seems to work normally, I can call, so probably the rest is good too. However on the Orange's sim card as well as on Play's sim in Network operators list I see Orange, Plus, and Era - Play is also missing...

No network UK

Hi Guys,
The problem I have with all networks except in uk t-mobile, the other orange, vodafone, o2. When trying to connect to the o2 message pops up: "unable to connect to this network at this time. Please try again later" on t-mobile grabs network without any problem. The problems began when I came to the UK to Poland was all too dobrze.I change to GSM mode, but without effect only if o2 uk only when I set the GSM (PRL) range but appeared only in the city outside the city it was lost and only work network HSPDA.
Android Software Revolution HD 5.2.3
Recent Radio
I asked the operator if a phone is a phone is not on the blacklist he wrote that everything is ok
I hope that everybody will understand me because I wrote the translate: D
Thanks
Sounds to me like it's network locked to T-mobile UK, try using the sim unlocking tool here. The fact that it will work on t-mobile uk suggests there is nothing wrong with the hardware

No Manual Selection of Network

Hello I have an odd problem. I have an unlocked ZL which has been working fine on AT&T in the US. I travel to London a lot and have the international data option on my account and has always worked fine with my other phones. However after arriving in London my phone is stuck on Everything Everywhere (EE) and they don't have a roaming agreement with AT&T. This would be an easy problem to solve by manually selecting a different network but this is my problem. On my phone network selection, below, APN is not showing up. I originally thought this may have been disabled by the original network (Indonesia I believe) so I flashed the US generic firmware and Nordic but nothing I do makes it show up. Anyone else have this problem or solution?
Thanks

Its DISABLED by your AT&T sim not the phone. If you notice by putting another Sim (Non AT&T) You can then use network search. Also ANY AT&T Branded Phone Network Search is LOCKED. I know your ZL is not AT&T branded but your SIM is which is causing it to lock it. My disapers when using an AT&T Sim, But when putting a T-Mobile USA sim or Orange UK sim BAM Network search shows up..
Also I think AT&T has Agremeants with EE , as EE can roam on AT&T here in the USA, EE is basically ORANGE UK, If they did not have aggremeants your phone WOULD NOT connect to the network. Make sure your data roaming is checked..
Thanks you are correct. Crazy considering they wanted me to manually select a network other than EE.
They're support is sometimes ehh. If they had never been out of the county they probably won't know. How is it over there . Always wanted to go.

UK HTC One X, no mobile data China Unicom

Hey, I couldn't really find anything similar, so making a post. I have just moved to China and brought my HTC One X with me from the UK. It is a Vodafone contract phone, so it is unlocked but running the Vodafone brand software.
I have bought a China Unicom SIM card, of which calls and texts work fine, but there is no mobile data, it just says disconnected. When I go into the mobile data settings, it has the network operator down as China Unicom and network mode as GSM/WCDMA auto. When I put my Vodafone SIM back in there is also no connection.
It have checked the SIM in someones Chinese phone and it works fine.
I'm not really a phone person, I have never modded/rooted or done anything to change a phone, and my knowledge only goes so far, so hopefully someone can shed some light for me.

Done some quick fact check for this.
Not so sure did Vodafone UK offered HTC One X/XL (edeavoru / evita). However, both of them supporting 3G network frequency operate by China Unicom. Make sure your SIM card has access to their mobile network and have APN set correctly if they are wrong/undectable.

Setting the APN has worked, thank you, I thought I was going to have to buy a new phone
Check this
All I had to do to go to the Access Point Name ('APN') settings and change the Authentication Type from its default 'Not Set' to 'None'. After that, my internet is working fine.
It would appear this may be an issue common to a number of Chinese phones, so hopefully this will be of use to other people in the same situation.
It worked on my star N9599T (whats the difference Not Set and None? but it works!)
