Hello I really hope someone can help me.
My phone did the htc one x update (sense 5??) yesterday and i decided to wipe my phone to give it a fair chance to impress me.
as i was copying files over something got corrupt and i lost all my photos, i downloaded various apps to "undelete" but all needed root access.
I never wanted to root my phone but these photos are very important and can never be replaced now.
I used HTCDEV and unlocked the bootloder and the undelete apks still didnt work.
I followed instructions from some youtube video (i know .. like i say i know this is my fault) and then phone no longer boots
I can get into CWM etc and have installed 2 roms that i had downloaded from here and a nandbackup from here and still get same results - nothing
could someone please help me fix my phone (i have accepted i have now lost all my stuff)
thank you for your time and patience
larry.
Same boat, different quarters
looks like you and i have almost identical issues, perhaps the chap that helps you can help me as well.
htc one x, with rogers, with clockworkmod installed, nandroid backup already created.
so, my phone is rooted, has been for awhile. i attempted to install a version of cyanogen mod about half an hour ago using hte fastboot flash boot boot.img command.
it seemed to go fine
my phone can no longer boot past the htc screen. it appears to be trying to boot into recovery, but failing for some reason.
i tryed restoring my nandroid backup, no sd card detected. as anyone responding ot this will know, one x has no SD, but does have an internal SD partition. i couldn' even select my nandroid to restore it.
ive been searching for an HTC ruu to run without sucess, ruu's are only available for the US ATT model.
any help is welcome. thanks in advance.
@Wackywilly522 if you have the Rogers one x you are in the wrong forum, and anything you flash from this forum will damage your phone. You need to be in the Rogers, telstra, at&t forum. This is for the tegra 3 international one x

Thank you for peoples replies.
I understand that my data is 99% sure all gone , at present I just wish to get phone to actually boot.
I thought loading a new rom / nandbackup would have let it boot but I must have damaged something?
I am sorry for being a 'noob' when it comes to this but any help on steps to get the phone to actually be able to make a call would be most helpful.
Thank you once again for your help.

Hey Larry, I m sorry for the loss of your data. Happened to me too once. Can you plz explain in detail what you actually did? I would like to help you to at least get the phone working. I m on my mobile now. As soon as I can get a PC, I'll try to help you as best I can.

You were on stock Sense 5 4.2.2. So you are on HBOOT 1.72. When you unlock the bootloader and root the phone, the process wipes everything on your phone and your SD storage. So that's why you lost all the photos and everything. But if you have that data backed up somewhere on cloud, you can get it back.
Now as far as the phone not booting, you have CWM and you can get into it. Do you have superuser installed?
As you are on HBOOT 1.72, not every ROM can be flashed into your device now. Plz check the ROM if it can be installed on your device.
If it can be, a boot.img has to be flashed and then the zip can be flashed via CWM.

You lost your data is due to the fact that you unlocked your bootloader for the very first time. There is a prompt saying that you will lose all your data and advice you to back it up. Which probably you didnt that is why this results.
I know there are other threads regarding this but those included someone having TWRP already flashed and in this case I do not.
I sadly took a chance and bought a Nexus 5X off someone on Kijiji and it looks like I got got scammed.
I've own other Nexus phones in the past but was unaware of the OEM Lock on the latest devices and it is in a locked state and I do not know the google account to unlock it (as it wasn't my phone prior to this)
None of the fastboot/adb commands work as it is locked.
I just wanted to know if there was any other way I could fix this or if I have brick on my hands here. Any assistance would be amazing as this would mean I just blew my money away.

So you purchased a 5X that wasn't factory reset? Have you tried asking the previous owner for assistance? They might be able to remotely wipe the phone using Android Device Manager.

Sadly you may be right, but like any good thief he seems to be unreachable, so I unfortunately can't get the money back. I have checked the IMEI and it is clean so i should be able to activate it.
I just need a way to bypass the FRP (Factory Reset Protection). I've seen posts on this on XDA but they are for patches up to the March 1st Patch. I build I have is the March Patch and I can't seem to find any workarounds for this patch level.
In the event that someone has found a way please let me know as it would save me a lot of grief.
Thank you for your responses.

I don't know if will help, but the N preview may not include or may reset FRP. Usually OTAs only include the changed files but since the N preview was bricking locked phones, Google released full OTAs that contained everything. You could try flashing it with ADB while in the stock recovery.

I was thinking the same thing but I don't want to make the situation worse than it already is. I have seen vids from RootJunky showing that the N preview is bypassable and it can be done with a reset.
Will the OTA wipe all the data on the device?
Just to be clear are these the OTA's you are referring too? http://developer.android.com/preview/download-ota.html
Thank you for your advice.

Bummer. I was going to suggest THIS. But there isnt a 16 TOT file.
So you were able to successfully flash N from the stock recovery? And you simply couldnt get past the login screen? FRP is a *****. I had no idea what it was when I sold my Moto X Pure Edition last year. I ended up giving the guy I sold it to my password so he could unlock it. That was after about a day of searching for a workaround. Then my sis bought a G4 and when it arrived it was locked with FRP. We ended up finding a tool to wipe it out. Such a pain. Lol. Good luck finding a solution. Let us know if you get it working some other way.

I unfortunately don't have a sim to test with. The one in my current is a micro not a nano. I am going to contact a repair store tomorrow to see if they can assist and I will try it out.
Sorry yes I did exactly as he suggested and it didn't work.
It gives me the option during setup to setup like it was a new phone but then as soon as I connect to my WiFi it performs a check and states the same reset message.
Which is why I might be thinking that it is the 72 hour lock on and maybe it will go away once it is complete.

I would try it again. If you factory reset from within android, it should disable FRP, including the need to wait 72 hrs.
I wouldn't bother with the repair shop. The latest and greatest info is going to be on the internet and probably from rootjunky.

Bummer. Im out of ideas.
What message do you exactly get when trying to execute something via fastboot?
So long story short I ****ed up. My device is currently in fastboot mode.
To sum everything up: My phone's camera wasn't working so I contacted OnePlus to RMA it and I wanted to factory reset and re-lock the bootloader before sending it back. Before locking the bootloader though I had been in developers options I disabled oem unlocking and adb debugging which was a huge mistake and I realize that probably screwed me over.
Now when I try booting my phone the OP logo shows for a second vibrates and turns off, I can't get into recovery and the same thing happens. I can't flash anything through fastboot because it tells me remote oem unlock disabled and either remote partition flash is denied when attempting to flash.
Please if anyone can help it would greatly be appreciated.

Another who wanted to relock.
Why???
Unlocking doesn't void the warranty !
When will people understand that?
Try the mega unbrick thread / tools, it should be enough, it's low level Qualcomm tools.
If no success call one plus tech service

Yep. This is why I immediately unlock the bootloader the minute I take my Nexus/OnePlus devices out of the box, even if I don't plan on rooting/flashing custom ROMs. Even botched OEM software updates can brick these phones.

i don't think they will, so many people do this, there is absolutely no reason to relock the bootloader on the Oneplus 3 since it does not void warranty and most insurance companies accept this as well, this is not Samsung, HTC, LG, Motorola, or any other "flashship phone".
PEOPLE AGAIN YOU DO NOT HAVE TO RE-LOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER, THERE IS NOT REASON WHATSO EVER TO NEED TO!!!!
To the OP if you plan on returning it, does not matter if u are stuck in fastboot mode, i am sure they won't care since they know how to easily fix it anyway, so just go with ur normal return, if u plan to keep it there are threads on here on how to fix as some posted earlier in the thread
Hello guys,
actually I'm using official rom (updated only one time) with root permission .
I'm thinking use warranty to send back this phone to Asus for a replacement (cause some issue with battery and moving screen sometimes) .
If for example i try to make a factory reset , a green android robot will appear and the phone will stuck.
There's a way to restore official rom (without root) simply ?
P.S. never maked bootloader unlock !!
Thank you

What build number you on ?
Do you have stock recovery ?
Have to go out now ,
1 go to SU app , open , settings - scroll to 'full unroot' and select.
2 If you have stock recovery - put UL WW bla bla fiwrmware user.zip from Asus , preferably the next update / build after yours on internal SD and reboot.
Remove ext SD before above process.

Best you update to latest 6 ( M) first- and then go about unlocking bootloader , flashing recovery and root with any of the helpful toolkits in general section.
Or use what you used to root first time round in 5 without updating.(i forget now- i dejunk useless info )
To update to latest M first
Go to > google search >
asus support for zenfone 2 551 .
Find>
UL-WW-Z00A- 4.21.40.223-user.zip M download
put on ext sd and add an extra >
.zip
on the end (in file manager or on pc before transferring sd card to phone)
So should read in file manager on phone >
UL-WW-Z00A- 4.21.40.223-user.zip.zip
Insert sd to phone , reboot.
I also noticed you never found the thanks button previously for great sound advice

Hey guys,
i made a big mistake. i'm stupid.
i unlocked my phone.
rooted it.
i factory reseted it and than i locked back the bootloader while there were things which prevented me from doing it.
now the phone is corrupted and i can not even do anything at all.
much help needed (as you can tell i'm not a big expert)

update : i can get to fastboot mode.
I think there is already a thread on this. According to that contacting oneplus support is only a way out. They will access your phone remotely and will flash ROM.

I believe as long as you have a functioning fastboot, you should be able to fix it eventually. I'm not sure if the files are available now though.

Hey guys,
i made a big mistake. i'm stupid.
i unlocked my phone.
rooted it.
i factory reseted it and than i locked back the bootloader while there were things which prevented me from doing it.
now the phone is corrupted and i can not even do anything at all.
much help needed (as you can tell i'm not a big expert)
thanks in advance
update : i can get to fastboot mode.

Same thing happened with my pixel. I tried repairing it by going to a shop but they said they couldn't do anything. You have to get to Oneplus support.

rule of the day kids: always re-lock your boot-loader only after you are satisfied you can boot into a rom! dont worry, op can fix it remotely with their tool. we need this tool given to the community...

Yeah since they don't care if u root or not they should just release the tool for us so we can freely do what we won't and not have to rely on them, do they realize how many calls they can avoid taking
