Pokemon GO compatible ROM? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Is there a ROM right now for the S3 L710 that supports Pokemon GO? Or do I need to buy a new phone to play the game?

Freezes for me probably do need a newer phone

What Android version did you use?
I'm on 4.4.2 it starts but I get "GPS signal not found", and parts (or all) of the UI are missing.

i am using the stock sprint s3 rom 4.4.2 (used to be rooted) and the game works for me.
Where did you get the game? It shouldn't be in the play store (yet) for the s3, I had to copy the apk from my s7 and installed it from my google drive.
the only issue I was getting, was after loging in with my user name and password, I saw a screen with the background but nothing to click on. there's a button that doesn't show up on the s3 near the bottom center. keep clicking (with sound on so you know you click it) and you will get past that prompt for the professor to talk and give you a tour.
Other than that, i have no issues. throwing pokemon balls is a little more challenging on the S3 than the S7, but it runs well enough to play,
Make sure your location setting is on "High Accuracy" and dont have "allow mock locations checked

Aside from some weird UI issues in the Pokedex, my son had been playing Pokemon GO on the latest AICP MM ROM. The only major issue is that the battery tends to die faster than he can finish a gym battle at the end of a round of walking.

I got Pokemon Go playing on my device flawlessly, after flashing the latest nightly of the Exodus ROM (6.0.1) for the Sprint Samsung S III (d2spr). I was previously using the ROM Wicked X (4.4.2) where it wasn't working, I could never get it to find my GPS even after turning off mock locations and turning on High Accuracy.

Running fine for me on CM13
SM-900P CM13

FWIW, Exodus Nightly + GAPPS PICO runs Pokemon GO extremely smooth on my SGS3. Superior to my bone stock SGS6 running TouchWiz.

[Q] HBO Go + Dinc + Warm Z Rom = ?

I'm trying to find some useful information about the HBO Go app for my Dinc. I have Warm Z 2.2 Nightlies installed and it works phenomenally. I love the rom.
I can't remember which date was the last time I updated, but estimate was around 5-5. The new Netflix app works fine, but I would like to take advantage of HBO Go as well.
The app was available to me in the market, I downloaded, it installed, I signed in... all perfectly fine. When I try to play a video it behaves as expected, and then after showing the HBO Go intro bit (Which I assume is preloaded into the software since it never needs to load) it won't load the video. It doesn't hang the phone or anything. It just sits there on a black screen with the loading circle going and going. I've tried on both Wifi and 3G and let it sit for a good while.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Does anyone have HBO Go running with the nightlies of Warm Z and the Dinc? If so, when was your last rom install? I really hate to mess with mine unless I'm confident of a solution as this particular rom is so stable and snappy with everything else I like on it.
Thanks in advance.
I've been running Cyanogen7 lately and been watching HBO Go with no problems.
I flashed the latest warm Z nightly build today to test this and installed HBO Go from the market. I had the same issue, the preloaded HBO Go intro plays but just a loading screen after that. I restored my nandroid backup of Cyanogen and loaded the same episode and it played just fine, so it definitely seems like a problem with the ROM.
Hope it helps.
I am having the issue on a different device but your post is the only other one I've seen on this.
I have a Huawei S7...it worked fine on Eclair, but I recently upgraded to Huawei's 2.2 Indonesian build (it's stock but for a slightly different device). HBO GO no longer shows up in the market, and movies on my backed up version hang after the HBO GO intro.
The market issue and the hanging could have slightly different causes though. I'll check back if I run across a fix for this.
I saw a few errors in logCat which suggested that some properties couldn't be read (or found). Have you done a logCat for this issue?
...I am having the same problem with MLB At Bat. ...not listed in the market....won't play videos when I sideload.
This is frustrating. Both worked fine before I flashed 2.2.2.

Modern Combat 3

Has anyone actually gotten this game to work on the GNexus? I have been in touch with Gameloft's tech support team (Which is a joke, at least a week between emails as simple as them saying we are working on it) and over the last month, I have received two "Fixed" apk's that have done nothing, as the game still crashes at the same point (Right after the Gameloft/Gameloft Montreal start screens). On the flip side if I disable data it works fine, which basically takes out half of the game (Multiplayer).
So I guess, if anyone has it working, mind posting your ROM/Kernel combo or how you got it to work (With having data enabled)?
CM9 and Kernel typically are good setups to use to test. Also try MIUI.
AOSP/AOKP are basically our stock roms. So you should get the same result going between Stock/AOSP/AOKP. CM9/MIUI use a custom built CM kernel so apps behave differently.
It is weird because while I haven't played MC3 extensively, I did buy it during the $.10 cent sale and played the first couple of missions. This was back in December btw.
Tried on Stock/AOKP/CM9 all with the same result. Just FYI.
Doesn't work for me either. Unlocked/rooted and running 4.04.

Phone resets 4G/LTE on phone call!

Yesterday I reverted to latest AT&T stock firmware (JSS15J.I747UCUEMJB - Android 4.3).
Now I am suffering from the following (reproducible!) problem:
Once the phone is in LTE, it stays in LTE mode (icon "4G LTE") ... until I make a phone call! After the call is established, the data connection drops completely and after hangup, I am just online with 2G!
When I dial *#*#4636#*#*, and use "Device Information" I see very shortly network type: EDGE. But tapping on "Device information" is enough that the phone completely restores its 4G connection and I immideately see again "Network type: LTE:14" and the "4G LTE" icon appears.
This is so frustrating, I can't do this after each call
Anyone knows whats going wrong here?

Sad - thanks
CM is where I come from.
I had troubles from the beginning on with this I747.
Eventually I went on to CM. But this also sucks - cm-11 is far from out and even they deem cm-10 "stable" it is not, even worse: They do not even fix errors although heavy ones exist and could be fixed (see bug tracker).
I have big troubles with CM mainly with device encryption (boot freezes) but also camera does not work well and eventually LTE did not work any more. That was my motivation to go back to stock ...
Which ROM do you have currently?

Damn sorry to hear that, I have been having many problems with I747 as well sadly. I just hopped off CM because of that reason, camera, bugs, and not really stable lol.. I've been running Dandroid 5.4 for 48 hours now and so far so good! It looks hybrid like half touchwiz/half CM but NOT really CM just looks themed like it its really touchwiz which i like because I love the touchwiz camera. give it a shot ! Let me know if it help with your problem!
here a quick link for the rom

[Q] Google Play Music Issue (SOLVED!)

Hello all...
Has anyone else been having buffering issues at the beginning of Google Play Music streaming songs? The music will go for a second, stop, go for another couple of seconds, stop, and then play fully. This is on Normal quality and is in places where I can do a speedtest at over 10mbit/sec. Often it's 20mbit or more. It seems like this started happening when the new 3.x firmware was released. I never had buffering before.
I've tried everything from uninstalling/clearing data to clean flashing ROMs. Same thing, and it shouldn't be happening with the bandwidth I have available.
Thanks.

Ive noticed this as well. Have not noticed any difference in quality of music but i have noticed it start, buffer, play, buffer, play..
I also am in a strong cellular spot with LTE and often 15+mb down. So i am convinced its not a thru put issue. I have not noticed it on WiFi so ill keep a look out for that.

I've had GPM problems as well. Sometimes what you describe, sometimes the song starts, plays a few seconds then stops completely. All on good data connections, sometimes happens on WiFi. I also have the latest FW but I flashed right after I got the phone so I have nothing to compare it to.
While we're on the subject of music, does anyone experience crackling when moving the 3.5mm jack during playback? Sometimes the crackling really bothers me when I'm walking.
No crackling that im aware of on my unit.
From past experience that crackling can be from dirty connectors or a bad connection. What your hearing is the arching or electrical components momentarily loosing then regaining contact with each other. OR if it is securely connected in its possible the connector is being stressed to much and possibly coming loose from the board.
The last alternative is your headphones were not made very well and the crackling is coming from damaged or poorly soldered connection inside the male plug.
To test this out try a different cable or different wired headphones with a different cable. IF the crackling stops its your cable and not your phone connector.
I have had these start/stop issues at the beginning of tracks using both my cellular network and Wi-Fi...very strange.
I'm also experiencing this issue. It's very distracting. ARHD 21.0 on latest firmware.
Good to hear that I'm not the only one. I did a support chat with Google Play's support techs and they couldn't figure it out. Frustrating.
I've had the issue on ARHD and Venom. I was using the default modem/radio in the new international firmware and tried changing it to the latest AT&T radio. I got significantly better speeds on the AT&T radio but the skipping problem was still there.
Weird.

Ok, so I finally solved this after trying a ton of things.
I've got the AT&T variant and, like many of us, had been using the international firmware and ROMs (ARHD, Venom, etc.) This Google Play buffering problem seemed to start when I upgraded to the latest 3.x firmwares. I decided to test out that theory by going back to AT&T-specific firmwares and used this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att...-4-4-3-2-22-1540-3-debloated-sense-6-t2837365
I first tried wiping everything and flashing the 3.28.1540.5 firmware and ROM, which is 4.4.4 not officially released by AT&T but apparently for the identical Dev edition. Didn't work. Buffering problem was still there.
I decided to go back to total stock and flashed the officially released AT&T 4.4.3 version - 2.22.1540.4. Eureka! Everything works great now, and LTE speeds have jumped from 10-20mbit down to 30-40. That's especially interesting because I had already tried swapping out the international modem/radio with AT&T's 1.16 version. That only got me to 20. Flashing the whole firmware and stock ROM got me to 40.
So this is a good lesson - even though the phone hardware is identical and we complain about the carriers taking forever for updates, there obviously is value in what they do to optimize these ROMs for their own network.

If using the build in my thread it has been modified for ATT specifically. All firmwares in my thread are for the US Developer device, but are modified for ATT as thats my carrier.

LP can't connect to google services

So I finally received my N7 from Asus after being held hostage by Asus for 2 months for what I thought was a simple RMA exchange. When I got it back it was on Kit Kat 4.4.4 got the OTA and installed it. When LP was installed I could not log into GPS no matter what I tried to to. I factory reset, flashed custom ROM, tried the "host file trick" when I flashed KK everything ran super smooth. Log into Google and basically have a Google experience with no BS. Flashed LP and problem persisted. Finally flashed KK again set up Google and was able to enjoy N7 and all it's Googleness glory. When I got OTA I installed them and I was partially able to use google services. I could install and update apps from the play store. However, apps would often fail when trying to install/update I was also not able to watch YouTube videos or use Chromecast. Dead trigger felt like I was playing it on a gs2 than N7. So I factory reset hoping to fix this problem believing possibly KK junk the reason. With some hesitation I factory reset and now at set up I can not login into Google.
It should be noted WiFi does in fact work, I can browse what ever I want on Chrome and can download straight from chrome browser. I imagine apps like Pandora could play, and I could watch YouTube videos on the chrome browser.
What gives I know N7 is far from cutting edge but its capable enough and with no carrier bloat and the fact it has official LP 5.0.2 it should perform like a champ. I hate to say it my backup GS2 runs better on LP with far less bugs. Anyone having same issues and better yet have a solution?
Could this be hardware? If so why does KK work flawless? Before I sent it in I had LP and had no issues what so ever setting everything up. Then I get it back and lollipop is trash.
All in all I am extremely disappointed in Asus without going into it let's just say their warranty program is Anything but world class.
