Sending SMS from the second sim card - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Is there a way to "always ask" for sim card to use for sending SMS? Right now it appears as if you can only send SMS from only one of the two sims. Thanks in anticipation.

User a third party app. Search for dual sim on play store. Lots to choose from

In the stock messaging app there is a sim picker beside the box you type the text into.

When you open the text app, on the right of it you will have a circle with a 1 or 2 in to change from each sim, overides default send message from sim settings.

There is no such buttons on mine. I only get them if I press and hold the send button. I will prefer to have those two buttons visible at all times.

Sim Tool Kit Issue need help please...

Question:
I have STK with a cloned SIM card with 4 numbers on it. The program is called Multinumber. This lets you change between the different phone numbers on the SIM card. I noticed that the STK then when I close it the Multinumber window always pops up when a SMS text message is sent. It pops up at the same time that you get the Message sent bubble. If however, I keep the messaging window open until after the message setn bubble pops up and close it after that the STK and Multinumber windows do not pop up. Does anyone know how to stop it from doing that?
Thanks.

Messaging Contacts List In Official Sense 2.5 Rom

I recently upgraded to the new official European wm6.5 sense 2.5 rom. While trying to get my head around the new slow default text messaging app I noticed that when I go to add a recipient, the contact list displays my sim contacts as well as a separate entry for different numbers of the same person. For instance, if I have someone called Alex with both a home number and a mobile number entered, the contact list will display it as two separate contacts. I should also add that I have disabled showing sim contacts using advanced config, and they don't show in the "normal" contact list, just in the messaging one.
As you can imagine, this makes navigating through the contacts much more untidy and time consuming.
Any help will be appreciated
is there no one else with this problem? I was hoping there would be a reg fix or something to sort this out like we've had before

Nope, as I don't use the sim for contacts. I would suggest that you do the same too, no more problemo.

I dont use sim either.. ive disabled it on the normal contact list. But it seems to show up in the messaging contact list as well as home numbers and email addresses and these are not all grouped under a single contact.

In that case, sounds like you need to go into the sim manager and delete the numbers off the sim, if that doesn't work, get your provider to do you a new sim.

You have to use root explorer to edit /system/build.prop or editing it by your pc then overwrite original file by root explorer. For editing parameter, look for the "...redirect to sms center...." = true, change it to false and you are ready for texting.

Thanks thanks thanks and thanks again. I was unable to send sms using a Vodafone sim card (Netherlands) until I changed that redirect line. Odd thing is, that any other sim card DID work; only Vodafone did not. Probably has something to do with Vodafone being VZ's official roaming partner.
Anyway, can send text messages now. Only thing NOT working is delivery receipts. Any ideas on that?

[Q] Xperia Arc - Changing Message Center no.

Hi, I'm having big issues sending text messages from my Arc. After using the *#*#4636#*#* code, I was also unable to change the SMSC details as kept getting an Update-Error and a Refresh-Error. I was hoping someone would able to give me some advice on how to get around this.
Thanks.

Your SIM is not Android-ready! You should contact your mobile provider and ask them for a new SIM. Should be free and instant in one of the shops you provider probably has
I would like to use this thread for similar question.
How the hell can we change SMS settings, like sms center number, validity period and so on?
Thanks.

SMS Center can be changed in *#*#4636#*#* (update = save settings, refresh = pull settings from sim)
Not sure about validity period. I think Android just keeps it on 'maximum possible'. Don't almost all phones do that nowadays?
Delivery report can be changed in the messaging options.

[Q] Sending SMS from contact card

I maybe missing a trick here, but on the contact cards my Desire there was an option to send messages (SMS) to a person's stored numbers. On my HOX, I only get the option to dial numbers. I cannot see any option to enable 'send message to number' on the HOX, has it been removed from Sense/ICS?
If you tap and hold your finger on the cellphone number you get a set of alternative actions, amongst which the possibility of sending a message (eitehr SMS or whatsupp in my case)
DOH! Thanks.
I always preach the "long press" to others and completely forgot to do it myself. Although, in my defence, it's not very obvious and I cannot find it in the manual.

To be honest, I did not find either when I read your message at first. I know that the long press should be the first option to check, but I always end up using it as a last resort
When you open the contact, there is a "message" icon on the right most side of the number...press it to compose message.
