Kindle Fire 7 help - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All
I have been asked to look at a friends Kindle Fire 7. The first problem is I have no idea whether it is the 1st or 2nd gen as it won't switch on.
I have done plenty of reading and tried many of the methods shown on this site but I've had no luck.
The kindle switches on and goes to a screen with a red triangle with an explanation mark. The device says 'Your Kindle cannot boot. You can reset your device....... etc'
You have two options, reboot or reset but neither work, it just ends up back at the same screen.
My Windows 10 PC does not show any sign of seeing the Kindle when plugged in, nothing showing anywhere in device manager.
Will I need a factory cable or is there a tool/method that will work without one?
I appreciate there are loads of threads on rooting/repairing but i'm a bit lost with all the different advice.
I have tried KFFirstAide64 but every option comes back saying 'The system cannot find the path specified'.
Any help will be gratefully received!

I found the model number on the back, it is D01400. I did a search and that appears to be the model number of the 1st gen 7"
Any ideas why my PC has no sign of it?

Wrong thread post in Q&A

Thanks, I have started a thread in the Q&A section. Can a mod please close this thread?

Stuck on boot logo

Hello,
First of all sorry for my English, I had a Kindle fire since few days. I try to root it to put ICS on it. That's the only one reason for what I bought it .
I tryed to follow this video ( ww w. youtube. com/watch?v=mwMHIkX20YI ) but I was stuck on the kindle fire boot screen for many minutes after the downloading step on the step number 2. The download was completed but the window always say " waiting for device ". After a while I unpluged it and now I'm stuck on the boot screen and KFU say " offline " for the status.
Right now I'm trying to drain down the battery but can you give me a solution for my problem .
Thanks.
Draining your battery is one of the worst things you can do a this point.
Read this
It will give you some insight as to what's going on.
Thanks for your fast response, I already read all of this topic yeasterday before starting the rooting. I think that I must use ABD to type command line to change my boot mode to a normal boot mode but I really don't know how to do this and I can't find a topic about that.
Sorry for my stupid question but I'm little confusing about all of this.

It's much more likely that you will have to use fastboot to change bootmodes. The 3rd post in the thread soupmagnet referred you to will have both the adb and fastboot commands to change bootmodes.
In fact I really don't understand where I need to put the command line .
And wich one put .
Shift + right click your KFU "tools" folder and select "Open Command Window Here"
[Edit:] You might need to make sure your drivers are in order as well...

I think all the ****ing problem come because the drivers are not installed well.
Sometimes my windows recognize the kindle as " unknown " peripheric and sometimes it didn't recognize it yet.
I try to re install the drivers but it just take half a second to re install and it's seem that's a fake installation.
The problem is that I have the kindle as " unkonw " in device manager but when I try to install the driver with the explication in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20421225&postcount=222 , I didn't find the android driver...
Up .
Up as in you got it fixed?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26491884
No I have always the same problem .

It's really complicated for me to install Linux because I already have bootcamp with Windows on my MacBook, I think I will go to Best Buy and ask for another Kindle Fire because this one don't want start up...
WTF?! You have a Mac? Why are you even messing with Windows in the first place? Get breakdroid and fix it easily.
BreakDroid doesn't work at all it always be on offline status, I have a MacBook pro with Lion and Windows 8.
If there is a solution with BreakDroid I can't find it, that's starting drive me crazy .
Update : I got the error " device not found " what ever I try on BreakDroid.
Update 2 : Wao I just try with now hope the kindlewater in the DMG and I'm now on the TWRP. I don't now whats happened but...
Great...will it let you mount your sdcard?
I have rooted my Kindle, after I have boot with normal mode, put the zip on sd card and flash it with success .
Thanks .

I posted this in another thread earlier today, but it applies just as well in your situation.

Troubleshooting Kindle Fire problems without having access to it can be difficult at times. Not only does one have to try and figure out the root of the problem, but one also has to try and disseminate what is actually happening from what is perceived to be happening by the person who needs the help. It only adds to the confusion when that person jumps into another thread in the middle of someone else's problem.
If you have a problem, and you've searched the forums as best as you can, and you've read all the guides available, yet you still can't find an answer to your problem, start a new thread. In that thread, describe what you understand and what you don't understand about your problem, how your problem started, what steps you have taken to try and solve your problem along with any errors you received (exactly as you received them), and any additional problems that arose as a result. Be sure to include important information like everything the device does from the moment you press the power button to turn it on. Also, describe in detail, the boot logo and recovery screens, specifically their overall appearance (color is key).

I unbrick my kindle fire then it suddenly shows this mssage :
Your Kindle has detected a problem and must clear app storage. The recovery process will erase some applications and data from your device. Apps from the appstore are stored in the cloud and can be reinstalled later.
This will reset your kindle to its original factory settings. you will need to re-register your kindle prior to downloading items from your Amazon account.
Please press power button to proceed.'

Kindle stuck at "Kindle Fire" after attempted root?

So basically, I just got a new kindle today and I tried rooting it using this YouTube video:
"How to Root - Kindle Fire 6.3 & 6.3.1"
(sorry I can't post links)
I followed ALL the steps! I did not connect my kindle at first, I downloaded the utility, extracted it to my desktop, installed the drivers, plugged my kindle in, launched the "run" program, pressed "2" and enter.
It found my kindle, but then kept saying it couldn't find something when trying to root. It went on to "try 5", "try 6" and "try 7". I knew this wasn't good. I feel like an idiot for not remembering exactly what it said. I looked over to my plugged in kindle, it was on the "Kindle Fire" screen.
By this point I'm panicking. I closed the program, and tried restarting my kindle, it is now stuck on the "Kindle Fire" screen. I tried connecting it to my computer, it recognizes it as a kindle and installed the android drivers, so I guess that's a good thing.
I've tried restarting it several times, same thing. So what do I do now? I'm sorry I sound a bit stupid. I'm not really experienced with this stuff, I figured rooting it would make it more useful. But I didn't expect this...
If somebody can help me I'll be really grateful. I still have the Kindle Utility files. I'm not sure if you would consider this state "bricked" or not.
By your post its hard to tell what actually took place whether or not that anything was actually sent to the kindle... so how does it appear in device manager?

I just connected it now, my computer made the little "ding a ling" sound to alert me that a device was connected. I opened the device manager. It appears as "Android Phone" and when I expand it "Android ADB interface"
Generally that indicates its in fastboot at least some of the time
It was stuck on fastboot. I opened Kindle Fire Utilities ---> run.bat ---> type "1" ---> hit enter ---> restart in normal mode.
Everything is working fine. Thanks ^^

Amazon Kindle Fire HD Unbricking

So I had the common issue with my Kindle Fire HD stuck at the loading screen and attempted various methods to fix this. This led me to this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1951254. After following the instructions and trying several different options in the KFHD Tool, I was still having no luck with getting the Kindle to boot. I then tried menu item #6 (Reboot Normally <must have a standard cable connected to work>), thinking that maybe that might do something useful. It did not. Since there is 0 documentation on the tool, I really don't know what that option is supposed to do. What it did to my device, however, is brick it absolutely. Attaching a regular usb cable to the Kindle and selecting that option, as the menu option suggests, caused the Kindle to turn off...and then that's it. It's no longer recognized by windows, can't be put into fastboot mode and appears to have had the bootloader destroyed...so now the project is even more aggravating. I would've posted this in the developer thread, but the forum rules state that noob accounts have to have 10 posts before they can comment....which seems backwards, but that's a different story.
this is the forum for the kindle fire 1st gen.
you will get the best help if you post in the right forum.

New to Kindle Fires -- Help me with my Kindle Fire 2nd Gen?

Greetings, all!
I was suggested to come here to root my Kindle Fire 2nd Gen.
I was originally following the guide here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2075959
However, several things didn't seem right. First, when I tried to install the driver (Windows 10), it didn't work.
I opened cmd, did what the guide said, but after hitting 1 and enter on the first menu, another selection (0 or 1) came up. I tried both options, but neither did anything.
If anyone could help me get this going or point me to a more detailed guide or something, I would greatly appreciate it.

[HELP] Unbricking Kindle Fire HD7" with Fastboot Cable; pc won't recognize Kindle

[HELP] Unbricking Kindle Fire HD7" with Fastboot Cable; pc won't recognize Kindle
Lemme start from the beginning. (I've made numerous threads before I had a fastboot and commentors kept asking questions that I've answered in the post so I'm gonna try to be detailed as possible)
Before I had a fastboot cable
I flashed a ROM onto my Kindle Fire (Cyanogen 13). Didn't like it so I thought a recover to factory settings would work. It didn't and it got stuck on the TWRP screen. Stuck on TWRP meaning that it's literally stuck on the blue TWRP screen. It doesn't get to the main menu or anything. I scoured the internet for solutions and some (which didn't mention a special cable) I tried but it ultimately failed because the program (can't list every single one but one I do remember is Kindle Fire Unbrick Utility), could NOT find my Kindle Fire. Also, Kindle Fire could not be found under "this PC" but when I plugged it in, it made the ding sound and could be found under ""Device Managers". I started reading steps about using a fastboot cable and was led to believe if you use one, your PC should recognize Kindle, therefor programs to unbrick should find the Kindle.
Got my fastboot cable today
I ordered one from Amazon and when I plug my Kindle in with cable, it turns on saying "fastboot kindle fire". I was excited to get this fixed finally. I followed a YouTube video's instruction (of a channel that I can count on) Tekify's Unbrick Kindle Fire. I did all the installing ADB drivers and what not but once I plugged the Kindle in and then opened the Unbrick program (this one Unbrick Utility). I pressed "1" on my keyboard to wipe everything on device. But once I pressed enter it sat on <waiting for device>. I checked under Device Managers and under Other Devices, Tate was there. But I couldn't find the Kindle under "This PC" still.
I've already researched this specific issue and people said to go to Tate's properties and update driver software. Then browse your PC for the Kindle under "This PC" but can't because Kindle doesn't show up under there. I know this is a Bible's worth of words but I really want to get this tablet FIXED!
