Sprint Open World Plan and rooted device - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6

I have a rooted Sprint Samsung S6. Stock rooted.
I'm travelling to Canada soon and Chatted with a Sprint Agent about International Roaming. It's called Sprint Open World Plan.
I'm just checking to see if the following procedure will brick my phone for what ever reason:
Before leaving the US: Connect to WiFi and go to: Settings > System Update > Update profile.
Once you arrive, please apply these settings:
Settings > More Networks > Roaming > Roaming Settings > Turn on international Voice.
Settings > More Networks > Mobile Networks > Network Mode > GSM/UMTS > Select Manual.
You will then select: Rogers or TBayTel
thanks!

It won't brick your phone.

works fine -- I travel all over, always works great (and I'm always rooted using my own kernel).

Can you disable carrier data connection?

I dont want my Tilt 2 to connect to the data connection EVER! Is there a setting I can change to keep it from doing this? I only use wifi and refuse to pay for a data package.
Mike
settings /communications / data connection off should do what you are asking for
Call your carrier and have them block all data. That is the only true way.

They will not go for that, I am trying to stay under the radar for the whole manditory data package thing. are the phone and data all on the same radio setup? could I flash a wrong setup for data or anything?
Mike
Look up MoDaCo NoData, it disables data connections (such as MEdia Net and AT&T ISP GPRS). That, or go to Start>Settings>Connections>Connections>Advanced Tab>Select Networks Button and change both to My Work Network. That should block network connections over AT&T's network, since "My Work Network" is set not to connect to the internet, nor does it have any communications settings. Hope that helps

I did have them set to "my work network" copilot GPS still tried to get out. I will look for that NoData.

This is how I disabled DATA connection on my T-Mobile branded touch pro 2.
Connections folder > Connections > Advanced > Select Networks > Drop down menu to T-Mobile Data (on programs that automatically connect to internet) > Edit > Select T-Mobile Data again > Edit > NEXT > Access Point Name : epicx.tmobile.com > Next > Next.
That is how I've been doing it on my previous WM phones (MDA, Wing) and now the Touch Pro 2
MMS will still work via data btw...It is just using diff server

It may try to get out, but it will not succeed. I just tried with Opera and it couldn't connect.

Any way to force roaming on GSM Galaxy Nexus?

Hello I was just wondering if there is any way to force my phone to roam. I'm just doing some network comparisons and was wondering if I can make my phone roam on ATT. My Tmobile galaxy nexus finds the network but never connects to it.
nobody can help with this or what
Try change your APN settings to a different carrier, or set your network to a different Carrier (Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> More... -> Mobile Networks -> Network Operators)

[Q] LTE On/Off Toggle?

Settings > Wireless & Networks - More... > Mobile networks > Network Mode
Choose WCDMA only or GSM/WCDMA

[Q] LTE not working

My stock, unrooted SGN3's LTE is not working. This may be a T-Mobile issue. I know when I had a rooted LG G2, this helped me: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2494803
Is there any fix like this for the N3?
Settings -> connections tab -> more networks -> mobile networks -> network mode
Select what you want.
If you have LTE already selected and you don't have LTE, you are either in a non LTE area or you have a phone issue, call T-Mobile.

Elephone P8000 and data using Vodafone UK & Talkmobile UK

Can't seem to get my mobile data on my two sims, one with Vodafone and the other with Talkmobile. Has anyone got theirs to work?
You have to toggle data on under settings>Data usage> you will see the tabs for each sim there so select which one you require.
Solved it!
Get the APN settings online.
Only thing you need to change is the Authentication type to "None" rather than "Not Set".
Also don't forget to turn your mobile data on!
Strange that, both my apn's are on "not set" and data works for me - this is with a 3UK and Vodafone prepay sim
I'm on TalkTalk, another company by vodafone
HI I've got a TalkTalk sim, I had a talkmobile sim about a year ago and they're both a sub brand of Vodafone. All you need to do to get data on your phone is to manually enter the APN settings. I had to copy each detail one by one of my mums APN settingsto my phone(she's also on talktalk). What you need to do is
Go to Settings > More (wireless & networks) > Mobile networks > Access point names > tap the add button on the top right and enter the following details one by one and when done just tap option button then save and select the new APN.
Unfortunately I can't send any details because the APN includes a link and I cant make posts with any links.
Just type your network followed by apn settings android on google, geeksquad is reliable
