bluetooth remote controller?

im looking for a bluetooth remote controller like the ones in the sony ericson phones
main use will be for power point presentations and controlling my laptop on the move
i have searched and the only one i think is the one in jaylee any other options?

Although I have never used it, i can remember that some piece of software like that called "asus remote presenter" was bundled (or installed already) on my ASUS P535 PDA... however, I think the P535 uses a different BT stack, therefor I'm not sure if that would run on the HD anyway... but maybe it helps you to find something...

There is an AMAZING bit of software that does these kind of functions, a friend told me about it and now i always install it into new ROMs. Its called....

its at beta at the moment but still works perfectly. I only use it WiFi so im not sure if you can do it via BT

I'd like an app just like the SE phones as well.
Great benefit of the SE app over the GRemote for me, is that the SE app already works on the login screen of Windows XP. I used to use my SE k800i to login to my HTPC, so that I wouldn't need a keyboard.
As far as I can see, GRemote starts up after Windows login. Apart from that, it seems to do the trick and works fine.

Works fins on both my laptop and PS3.

MobileRemote is good...
does not require to install anything on PC/laptop.
connects to BT as HID , so it can be used anywhere.

Wow, works like a treat!
The demo version doesn't allow to save pairings, so I had to buy it to see if I could log in Windows without use of a keyboard, but it did the trick

My PS3 can't seem to find my phone. It's just scanning and telling me to wait. Anyone know what could be the problem? I have no problems connecting to other phones via bluetooth, they can always find me.

i advise MobileRemote - works like a charm! I also tried gremote - the free version - and it crash several times.

That works great for a HID, But to expand on this does anyone know of an application that can work via bluetooth or wifi that can connect to an controll a windows media player or winamp remotely? One that shows the track info ad allows you to browse the library etc would be fantastic. It would allow people to be anyware in range of the wireless network (like having a BBQ outside) and control the music.

RSC Remote Mobile - uninstall problems
Hi Remote Mobile User,
I installed RSC Remote Mobile on my Touch HD but it does not work. My PS3 cannot find the HD. Now I cannot uninstall the software from my HD. I tried it on "normal" way using the option under windows and I tried it with the options under Active Sync.
Is there an other tool available to uninstall software from the HD?
Please help me.

I just bought Tablet Talk for 2.50 and the only way it works is via WiFi. When I try to use Bluetooth, I get a connection error code 1. Please help me.

Make sure. Both devices have their Bluetooth turned on then open tablet talk on both devices and make sure Bluetooth connection is selected. On the phone hit the red Bluetooth button and select enable discovery, on the tablet it should ask u to setup devices and find the phone via Bluetooth

What Rom are you on? You might want to test it using a different Rom. There were a couple of times out there in which Tablet Talk doesn't work.
I am currently running CodeAndroid and both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections work.

I'm on the latest cm10 and I had it working the other day with blue tooth just fine but I can't get it to connect today. I was able to unchecked the option to share Internet over blue tooth before in bt settings but it won't unchecked now. The only consistent connection I have been able to maintain is off the hot spots on my galaxy nexus but it won't reconnect without me manually pushing the connect button. Has been inconsistent for sure but just attribute it to the romantic and flashing nightly.

I ran into this this weekend... I ended up UNpairing through the the bluetooth settings in the ROM itself (not the app) clearing cache / data on tablet talk on both phone and n7, then repairing through the ROM and setting up through the app. Pain in the *** and took me a few tries but now it's working great.

Unpairing and pairing again works for me.
An alternative for the app but works a different way is TabletSMS by koush. I use it more often than tablet talk https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.tabletsms

I can vouch for TabletSMS. It works very well. I also have tablet talk but I use that for car connectivity by tethering it with my phone when in my car. The tether connect is flawless.

Tablet talk working fine for me.

I ran into the same issue
The only way it works for me is to press the connection button on both devices
I haven't found a way to trigger the connection from one device only (CM9 phone / stock JB tablet, bluetooth tethering on)

Email the developer, he helped me out. Awesome service.

For those having a problem with Tablet Talk relating to pairing/connecting your devices, here's a quick fix reply from the developer posted on Androidcentral.
I am the original creator and main developer of Tablet Talk. Someone emailed about this thread, which prompted me to make this account so that I can offer better support and obtain feedback.
First, mrgdr57: the app is for Android tablets and phones. Please send an email to [email protected] with the subject "Refund." Either send it from or provide the email address your order is under so that I can locate and take care of it right away!
Next, if you have not done so already, please install the update which was released very early this morning. It will help with the connection problems.
Regarding port: this setting only affects Wifi.
Wifi
If Wifi is not working, then please do the following:
Change the port to 8080 on both devices. It can be found under "Setup."
Under "Setup" on your tablet, enter your phone's IP address. Your phone's IP is displayed inside the phone app ("Phone IP: 192...."). Almost always the app finds your phone automatically; however, sometimes it is unable to. The tablet app keeps track of each network separately, so you should not have to do this every time.
Bluetooth
Sometime when Bluetooth is not working, a simple restart of either the tablet or phone fixes the problem. Once Bluetooth is setup, it should work without any problems. The previous version appeared to be having Bluetooth problems, and this morning's update (1.5.3) should help with these.
If Bluetooth has not yet worked for you, then uninstall and reinstall the app on both devices to get a fresh start.
When the app first opens, it detects whether you are using a phone or tablet. A popup appears asking you to confirm. Make sure that you confirm the correct device type. You can always change the device type in Tablet Talk's settings ("Misc" in phone, "Appearance & Behavior" in tablet). If you are texting from a Galaxy Player linked to a phone, then you will need to tell the app that the Galaxy Player is a "tablet." Also, if your phone is a Galaxy Note, the app might think it's a tablet, so be sure to identify it as a phone.
The standard solution for when Bluetooth setup is not working is to do the following:
Open Android's Bluetooth settings on both devices. If they are already paired, unpair your phone and tablet from each other.
Toggle Bluetooth off and then back on (both devices).
Pair your phone and tablet within Android's Bluetooth settings.
Phone: open Tablet Talk and press the connect button. If it asks you to enable discovery, press accept.
Tablet: open Tablet Talk and press the connect button.
Quick & Automatic Connecting
Once Tablet Talk is setup, connecting can be made much quicker and automatic for future use. Check out the Automatic Settings on both devices for the options. There is also a widget. You can tailor it to your specific needs.
Also, whenever you connect, the app will sync any newly sent or received messages on your phone from the last use.
Example configuration: When you get home from work, simply enable Wifi or Bluetooth on your phone, and then turn on your tablet. The app will take care of the rest. Automatic settings:
Tablet: auto start when app opens. Auto enable Wifi or Bluetooth.
Phone: auto start when Wifi or Bluetooth is enabled.

I managed to get it working by creating an ugly workaround with tasker: my tablet sends a connection request (via the autoremote plugin) to the phone who launches tablettalk (with auto-connect at startup turned on) and then the tablet launche tablettalk too with the same autoconnect option. As the two devices are trying to connect simultaneously, the connection is established correctly. That's the only way I found to get a connection (other than manually pressing 'connect' on both two devices)

contact names not consistent between phone and tablet.
This may sound strange but when I send a message on my phone and a tablet syncs, the contact name on the tablet does not match the contact name on the phone.The phone shows the name, but the tablet just shows the phone number and also when I have two people with the same last name in my contacts the phone shows the correct name but the tablet shows the other person's name, even though the phone's contact list contains completely different different information for each of the contacts

Tablet Talk cuts off internet to other apps?

Hi,
I'm using Tablet Talk on Nexus 4 phone and Nexus 7 tablet installed in my car dash. The application works totally fine except for one strange issue: it appears to cut off internet to other apps installed on Nexus 7. Internet connection is shared by the phone via Bluetooth.
When Tablet Talk is connected, Youtube shows connection error, Waze navigation cannot reach its servers most of the time (though not always), Chrome browser either works extremely slowly (loading google search results for about 3 minutes) or don't work at all.
Everything works fine as soon as I disconnect Tablet Talk.
I was unable to google similar issue reported by other Tablet Talk users, so maybe I'm doing anything wrong?
Any ideas are most welcome.

If you are using Bluetooth to connect to tablet talk, and to share internet.... Then there is your problem, I think u can only have one device connected with Bluetooth at a time.
Try setting phone as mobile hotspot, and connect the nexus 7 via WiFi. Then use tablet talk in WiFi mode. And forget about Bluetooth and its narrow bandwidth.

However, there are two things that make me believe that there's another reason: first, there is internet connection, yet somewhat flaky, in Waze navigation app, and some others, while Tablet Talk is connected. Next, Tablet Talk uses the same bluetooth connection - no extra [virtual] device or BT profile appears in the bluetooth connection list, as far as I remember.
I've asked the Tablet Talk developer about this; still awaiting their response.

Yup its still one connection but 2 data feeds, therefore 2 connections through Bluetooth. it makes sense to me this issue. That's why I never ran tablet talk this way. I know Bluetooth don't have much bandwidth.
I would be curious of the answer too. I use tablet talk just not in this configuration.

Sure, but yet it's always been sufficient for any youtube video and other tasks. I don't believe that Tablet Talk in standby mode consumes all the bandwidth... but who knows, maybe you're right. I'll try to find a tool that'll allow to monitor BT bandwidth/load, if it's technically possible. Thanks for the clue!

GPS Tether

I often tether my Fire tablet to my phone's Hotspot Access Point. However sometimes I wanted to use it for navigation in the car, but alas, it has no built-in GPS!
So I developed GPS Tether that easily shares any Android phone's GPS location to the Fire tablet through the phone's Hotspot AP, simulating an actual built-in GPS in the Fire tablet. I originally developed and tested it for the HP Touchpad, but I found with a few tweaks it will work on almost any Android v4.2+. It works great for me and it's a pretty dependable and lightweight app, and I wanted to share it with all of you. Enjoy!

It must be installed on both devices. I unable to make an iOS version because of the restrictions Apple has on it's access to what the app needs to function properly.

Probably a stupid question but does this app use data from my phone or just GPS?

Not a stupid question at all! In fact, I am going to include this information in the app description. :good:
To get your location, GPS Tether uses the global default location setting you have on the sharing device in the Settings/Location menu in Android. If you have it set to "Device Only" for instance, GPS Tether will only use the signal from GPS satellites. If you have it set to "High Accuracy" on the other hand, GPS Tether will use Google's "fused" location service. (This service uses a combination of your GPS signal, WiFi APs, and cell tower triangulation. This "fused" service uses very little-to-no data to obtain your location. For technical info on the "fused" service, check this out.)
The GPS Tether app itself does not use any data to share or receive the GPS location from one device to another. However, when opening the app GUI (not the background services) it will check for an app update on the play store in the background. If you have no data connection at all, it will simply ignore the update check. Checking for an update uses a tiny amount of data (under 8kb), and the check is only run when opening the GUI.
Summary: GPS Tether can be used with no data connection at all, and imposes no significant data usage.

It´s a pity to hear that is not possible to use an iPhone. Can you provide more details about the limitation? Do you think it would be possible in the future? I´m currently integrating my Fire in my car's dashboard and GPS availability would be great.

Well, you bring up a good point. It would be possible to code it for iOS for location sharing only. And it sounds like even if it only had the sharing function, many people would use an iOS as the location sharing device. So I will explore that and see if I can code it in the near future. :good:
It will (most likely) never be possible to set the location manually in iOS (aka mock location). Android allows an app (with the given permission) to set a global mock location. This function was originally created for testing purposes, but they left it in for this kind of application. So iOS devices will never be able to be the receiver of the shared location.

Android tablets like Fire are quite cheap compared to iOS devices so, I'm sure that there are more people like me interested in just location sharing from iOS to your Android tool. I have some experience developing for iOS, so feel to contact me if you need help with iOS side.

This is a common issue with Android 4.x on 3rd party devices. Many different solutions can be found here. The GPS Tether APK is good to go.

Has anyone found an apk for Nokia Here? The playstore version won't load on the NexusFire AOSP ROM.
Since we can share a gps signal it would be nice to have an offline map app too.

I can't seem to be able to connect the fire with my oneplus one. I really don't understand how the two devices speak to each other, as no data connection is necessary and this is probably the reason why it doesn't work for me.
Can anyone help me, please?

To be more specific, no internet connection is required. To share the GPS signal from your OnePlus One to your Fire:
- Make sure the location is enabled on your OnePlus One and that it is set to "High Accuracy" or "Device Only".
- Install GPS Tether on both devices. Use the APK download if you are unable to download GPS Tether to your Fire from the Play Store.
- Enable the Location Sharing on your OnePlus One in the GPS Tether app.
- Enable your WiFi hotspot on your OnePlus One.
- Enable Location Receiving on your Fire tablet in the GPS Tether app.
- Connect your Fire tablet wifi to your OnePlus One's hotspot.
And it should connect almost immediately... and done! Lemme know if you need further assistance.
EDIT: It should prompt you to enable Mock Locations on your Fire tablet when enabling the GPS Tether receiver for the first time. GPS Tether will attempt to guide you in doing this and this has to be done first.

Bluetooth, easy shift between 2 phones?

Hi. Have a JY mtcb head unit with Maylaysk rom and 4.4.4 android. Find it tricky to shift between the 2 phones i have conected in the bluetooth app on my head unit. First i have to mark the active phone and then deselect it. Then i can mark the next phone in the list and connest it. Is there a easy way to do this with just a short cut or a another app that will do it more easy?

I do not know a shortcut but maybe I can do even better
Buy an android compatible Bluetooth dongle and pair both (cost me $4 incl shipping from China), I did that with my OBD device and phone but see know issue why 2 phones shouldn`t work as well.
The only thing that could be a (small) problem is which it would dial a number with.
Just a suggestion of course

What functions would you be using in Tasker?

I was just thinking that Tasker could possibly be used to automate bluetooth switching. I'm not sure HOW to set it up though.

I use the app Trigger. I use it to turn on my phone's Hotspot when it connects to my headunits Bluetooth connection and when it disconnects it turns off the Hotspot and turn on my wifi. It is very easy to use compared to Tasker. Tasker is good as it has a lot of functions but I don't quite know how to use it yet.

I was using Tasker for a few of these things, but actually the Smart Connect on my phone does all these things well.
I think what this thread is about though, which I would like to know two is that if you have two phones connected to the head unit, it connects to one, but even though the other is stored as a bluetooth connection it will only autoconnect to the last connected phone. This means you have to manually hit the connect on the head unit for it to work if you weren't the last one in the car!
It would be better if you could tell the head unit to have a "preference" to connect to phone A over phone B, but if phone A isn't present, then connect to phone B.

Well the headunit is very limited, but if you are very knowledgeable in Tasker you set something like that up on the headunit. I think trigger can let it do the same thing by using restrictions,
