There are many topics in this forum about screenprotectors and shield. That's why I decided to make one topic on this subject based on my experience. I've used protectors for the Xperia X1 and the HTC Desire, i've used the following:
Screenprotectors
Brando UltraClear My experience with the Brando's are very good. They are easy to install as they don't use glue, but some kind of static energy, I don't know what it is exactly. Due this, they can be reapplied by peeling them off and reapply them. And you can even clean them with water. This is also a disadvantage, as the protector can move a little around the screen and can be lifted up by sharp objects.
Color distortion due the brando is negligible and in my opinion the brando's have a nice feel to them, which is of course quit important for a screenprotector.
Ebay I've had some experience with these protectors, and while they are cheap, I'm not a big fan of them. They feel cheap and there is too much resistance while touching the screen. I also have my doubts about the protection, especially with sharp objects penetrating the protector, but I have no experience with that. Color distortion depends on how you apply the protector, I have seen some people with some vague lines on the screen due these protectors.
Martin Fields These appear to be the best protectors but I have no experience with them. Please post your experience so this can be a nice overview topic
Shields
StealthGuards This is the shield/screenprotector i use at the moment. The problem with shields is that over time, the small parts (in my case the side of the phone) tends to get loose. That happened to my Zagg shield which I originally bought for my Desire. Since I didn't want to spend $25,- again I browsed around the internet and found this alternative. They are incredibly cheap (Free + shipping, so around $2,-) and hard to beat at that price. The feel of the screenprotector isn't as nice as from the brando. But it's better then the Zagg and good enough for all day use.
The protection you get is very good, every part of the phone is protected by some plastic looking and feeling material. The StealthGuards offers the same protection as the Zagg, and scratches automagically restore as long as they aren't too deep. So you have a lot of extra protection without the bulk and at a low price. Disadvantage could be that your phone gets more glossy. For a matte phone like the desire this isn't something i'm happy about, but you can order matte shields for a small price (which I didn't btw, so I'm not sure how that will look). Also you can't reapply them as they use some kind of glue. Personally I didn't have any problems peeling them off (no glue left on the phone, or easily removable).
ZaggIs more or less the same as the StealthGuard, but more expansive. You do get 2 year warrenty and free replacement for that price, and I guess it's more scratch resistant but with normal use the SG is sufficient for me. I've scratched both with my keys and didn't see much difference. They have more resistance then the SG and I wasn't a big fan of using the Zagg as screenprotector so i ordered a Brando. Installation is better then SG, as SG doesn't even provide instructions or the installation fluid (but you don't need it really, I just pushed it on the phone and it sticked).
BSE is mentioned in this post and is also a cheaper alternative to Zagg.
Installation
For installation of your protector I recommand BillTheCat's excellent installation technique post that can be found here
Conclusion
On a low budget I recommend the StealthGuards, as they are dirty cheap, offer way better protection then the cheap ebay protections and feel better. If you have some more money to spend I would go for a SG + Brando UltraClear combination. This is primarily for the feel on the touchscreen, which I like a lot on the brando. Maybe the MF is better, but I can't recommend it as I personally never used one.
If you have a lot the spend you could look into the Zagg, but you will definitely want another screenprotector alongside the Zagg, which makes it even more pricy. I guess it's protection is better then the SG, but I doubt you'll need it.
This is all based on my personal experience I had with these products, yours can be entirely different and if so, please post it below. I will update this post if users provide useful descriptions on there phone protections.
Great post! A lot of useful information here for those looking to get a screen protector for their phone.
I only have experience with the Zagg Invisible Shield. I tried it on my old hero, and while it's a solid product I just couldn' get used to the way it felt uner my fingertips. I ended up removing it after only 4 days of use. That being said, when I recently retired the old Hero it didn't have a single mark on the screen. So, for me the screen protector from Zagg didn't do anything except lower the usability of my phone.

Nice post.... I got a nice HTC branded pouch from amazon for £7.50 ($12.20) and it's great.

I don't like pouches, they add weight and slow the process of quickly checking my phone This one looks nice though
I've been using Martin Fields protectors for a few years now. Better quality than most and cut very well so that they cover the entire screen. Easy to apply without bubbles forming and can be removed without leaving residue on the screen.
One thing that i have noticed is a discoloration/wearing on the shield in the most frequently used areas of the screen. It's only noticeable when the screen is off though.
These are very costly compared to most but offer a good level of protection and last for ages.

I heard the same story, since my protector is slightly damaged after 3/4 year of heavy use i'm thinking of buying one and check them out. How does the martin field feel compared to the original screen?

I actually found the naked N1 screen a bit hard to get along with. My finger wouldn't swipe across smoothly and felt 'sticky'. The MF protector was actually an improvement although it takes a days use to wear in properly. I've had the same protector on for a year now and it's still going strong
i use a zagg and love it! goes on great but does feel funny something you just have to get use to the only bad thing i noticed is when i tried to put the one from my white streak on my black streak the screen was totally unresponsive so i had to get a new one bestbuy replaced it so no big deal couple of my friends had the same problem so i guess you can't use it more than once. it will mark up i dropped my streak and tried to stop it with my shoe and ended up kicking it across the room and it put 2 small marks on the zagg but other than that its great and i do recommend it. a little pricey though!
A very good alternative, actually better and a lot cheaper than Zagg, is BSE: http://www.bestskinsever.com/
I started using them on my last 3 devices and have never looked at another product since.

+1 for BSE, I've used them on almost every phone since my BlackBerry days. I've tried others and keep going back.
The ShieldGuards are really good they might be better than zagg I recommend this
Invisible Shield from Zagg is always a good choich but a little bit pricey. They just recently released the universal screen pack to Radioshack so they should be available to you locally. Which is always ideal for me.
They price at 14.99 for three.
I have never tried bestskinsever, but I used Zagg a couple of times when it was still called Invisible Shield.
Is bestskinsever the same sort of product? That is, is it sticky to touch, or does the finger slide like it does on the screen?
Also, does the screen protector part have the orange peel effect, or is it mirror-like, like a normal screen protector?
The Zagg style protectors are fantastic for the body of electronics items, but imho very bad news for screens, especially touch screens.
Updated startpost with BSE. I will take some pictures of the Stealthguard installed on my device
Im thinking about getting a zagg. they just gave me a simple screen protector from verizon when i picked up my thunderbolt. definitely not going to cut it.

Those are new to me. How do they feel and react to scratches?
bought my hd 2 with a screenprotector today and the protector is shining under the sun. can't see a thing.
It seems the StealthGuard is no longer free, however, for $10,- you get 2 protectors, so it's still very competitive when compared to the others.
Edit: There seems to be a workaround and still get the protectors for free if you sign up to become a devaffiliate. I haven't tried this myself (mine is still on), but it's worth a shot. (here or here)
So when I bought my captivate I bought the ATT screen protector and it was very nice.
If I were to leave a mark due to hitting with my nail on the screen, the mark will slowly disappear back to normal. It was also full size all the way to the home button etc.
After many months I decided to replace it as it was coming off on the sides but the quality was still great.
Well, first red flag was that the new version is no longer full size. Only covers to the lower part of the actual display area but I was assured that it was the same material...
Yeah, same material my A$$! That thing sucks...it became a mess of horrible screen patterns like I was looking at some Nasa Mars photos or something.
I took it back and the bastards wanted to charge me $5 bucks to replace it again!
I express my deepest feeling in some not very forum appropiate wording and left.
Bought an invisi shield even though opinions are mixed about it and so far I love it.
Screen looks perfect with non of the horrible patterns I was getting with the ATT ****.
Just a warning.
Regards
Yeah, I'm using a invisishield
Had one since day one of phone purchase. No complaints.
Love my otterbox too
that sucks I was thinking of getting one, thanks for the heads up.

If you can find the original one (full lenght) you should be fine but if it is the small one run away from it. I couldnt take that more than a week.
The invisi-sheild is pretty good I had one and loved it, but I just replaced it with the ATT screen shield last week and mine comes all the way down and covers my buttons and is actually a pretty decent protector. Maybe they were out of stock and gave you one that 'works' for your phone. The rep did bring me the wrong one initially....
That's not good. I HATED my InisiSheild. The ATT screen protector was the only screen protector I've been able to stand.
Good thing I have two spares...

Agree on the Zagg. It was absolutely terrible, but it was free, so I can't really complain. Anyway, I gave up on screen protectors altogether.
Screen protector? What's that? Lol. Seriously, I've never used one and I've dropped my phone face down on both gravel and pavement. My screen still looks brand new. I think screen protectors on these phones are just a waste of money, and I hate the idea of having another layer to distort the image.

I ran without a screen protector... Right up until I picked up gash in the upper right corner of my screen.
All it takes is one grain of sand.
The old AT&T screen protectors are the best compromise I've found between the crystal clarity of running naked, and having at least some protection.

This.
I don't know how you people keep saying after months of screen protectorless use, your phone looks brand new.
I went protectorless for a couple months, and after that short a period of time I picked up a few noticeable scratches. They aren't deep enough to be seen in use, but they are there.
I'll keep my screen protectors. Can't really tell the difference anyway.
You agree with a post that is stating the opposite of what you are saying? That is cool LOL
If you want the original At&t protectors, search for the brand Real Look. One of my packs from At&t had the Real Look branding on the stuff inside the pack. I also suggested Real Look to a buddy with an iPhone 4, and when he got his, it's the same great material.
I will never use another brand of screen protector as long as Real Look makes one for my phone.

I don't know if I just got a bad batch, but the ones I got from AT&T a few months ago suck. Really rainbow...y and they have the annoying hole for the proximity and light sensor.
Had my captivate since July of last year, 3 days before release. Never used a screen protector and when I wipe it off it looks like I just peeled the DONT TXT AND DRIVE thingy off. Guess I'm just lucky.

These are the Real Look screen protectors. I find that the rainbow effect disappears when the screen is on, so that is really not an issue. Also, I don't really think the cutout for the proximity sensor is that bad, it's a really small area that is barely noticeable, and I'm sure probably is there for a reason.
To me, the Real Look screen protectors have an unbeatable finish for keeping clean, smooth, and even scratch free. If you like the natural feel of gorilla glass, give them a shot, because these really do feel like the gorilla glass when they are clean. IMHO, they have the best scratch resistance of any crystal screen protector that I have ever used on any device. In the past I used matte screen protectors because I always hated scratches in glossy ones, but these have solved that problem.
I'm not trying to flame, I just think it's a bit unfair to be that nitpicky about a great product. Did you notice any of the positive qualities of these?
I dont know what brand it is but i use the screen protector that came with my otterbox. didnt use on on my first captivate, could definitely see some marks on screen, no problems with one in place.
I have also used Realook brand protectors. I thought they worked really well. The only reason you could tell I was using one was the horrible job I did installing it. They say they are washable and reusable, but after trading in my phone for a warranty issue I decided not to even try to reuse it. I just ordered a new one. $10 for 2 of em. I almost wasn't going to use one and I read a post from someone who says that he can see a bunch of microscopic scratches on the glass from keeping it in his pocket. The way I see it, I would rather cover it and not take any chances.
Go to best buy they have a military grade polyurethane they wrap around your phone it is the best screen protector phone protector ever

Hey guys,
previously I saw people post a thread about the A.R.M screen protectors.
I went to their site at armstation.com to see if I could purchase one and it seemed that they havent really started their internet sales yet.
So I emailed them asking about it, and they said to leave them an address and they will ship 2 pieces for me to try out.
AND HERE THEY ARE!!!
arrived today, which is approx 2 weeks after my emails, so kinda slow, but alright.
Now, ONE THING. THE PACKING ON THE OUTSIDE LOOKS SPLENDID!!!
but....when you open it, there really isnt anything, just one little screen protector.
I gotta hand it to them though, the packiging must have been worth more than the screen protector it self.
Usage:
I haven't really gotten to put these on yet cause I just recently sent my phone in for repairs. But from the way they feel, compared to the XO Skins which I have handy. They simply do not match the craftsmanship of the XOs.
ALSO, compared to other crystal screen protectors, this one, had only one layer to take off, which really troubles me, but I guess this is one way to lower the budget.
(EDDITTTTT: There is a second layer to take off. But according to dothedyu (Thanks), you have to take it off with tape @@)
Anyways, if this thing sells for less than $5 bucks, I'd say it's worth it, but if it goes beyond 10, ehhhhhh....
This is really a brief review as I really couldnt test anything else out. Anyone who ordered these and have put them on feel free to share ur opinions.
Dont know whether they still offer samples, but you can always try.
Nough said, this really just widens our selection of screen protectors, but really, i ll stick to my XO.

Actually, there's a second layer to take off that doesn't have a tab so after you take off the first layer and put it on the phone. It'll still look hazy. So use a small piece of tape on the corner and peel back and the top layer will come off revealing a clear, thin skin. It actually looks really nice!

Has terrible rainbow effect and is way too thin. I can't really complain for free, but I'd be pretty bummed if I had paid a decent amount of money for them. The generic crystal protectors from VZW are better quality IMO. Only real advantage to these is the edge to edge coverage.

The way we see it is that a $30 investment will be less of a loss if broken than a $200+ screen replacement.

You could have a diamond screen protector but if it spoils touch sensitivity it can ruin the phone. So how does this affect it and is it just design overkill like the iPhone glass back that shatters when you drop it.
Awesome! In for one... totally a huge fan of this type of screen cover. Had one on my S2 from SGP, missed it on my Galaxy Nexus but glad you guys have this one for the S3! Thanks!

Touch sensitivity is not affected at all. It is as if nothing is there. The point is that if you drop your phone that the tempered glass screen protector will break as opposed to your phones screen. Would you rather be out $30, or $200? Not to mention that the tempered glass is extremely tough and will not scratch, unlike the phones screen.

There are no other tempered glass screen protectors for the S III. This is the only one out on the market. The other cheaper screen protectors that you are referring to are PET films, which are in a completely different league than this.
do you have any actual pics of the tempered glass on a unit vs one without it? Dunno if that's possible to capture. I just wanna see the thickness of it.
Curious if it affects the case I'm using..

SGP might be making the Glas for it .. but will still be priced high, and I would present them the same argument.
Its in a different league because its glass?
Who cares if its glass?
Its only in a different league because of the PRICE and your marketing, making people think they need that.
You (and many others, but I refer to you because you are actually here on the forums) are the MONSTER (brand) of screen protectors lol
I have seen SGP Glas protector chipped and shattered...
Tell me why, in everyday terms and practicality, that someone should spend $30 on that when I can spend $14 on the Ultra Crystal, which has 4H hardness (which is more than enough by the way).
I saw your photos on the site, and I dont see how that is ANY better than the Ultra Crystal.
Our shatter-proof design keeps both you and your screen safe from cuts and scratches. When suffered major damage, the screen protector will crack and not shatter much like a car's windshield.

That quote along with the image of it describes exactly what happened to my SGP Ultra Crystal for my Motorola Milestone a long time ago when it took a hard impact from a point in the center of it. Guess what? I paid $12 for that...
This is for the people that buy what they dont need just because it has nice looking features and numbers that they will never use realistically.
ie. Lamborghinis - very nice, very pricey, but why buy one for everyday use. No practical point. (although yes I would love one)
If these things cost 15-20, thats more reasonable. But $10 more just because it is glass even though it wont REALLY make a difference...
I could issue a challenge and GUARANTEE that if someone were to use your screen protector for .. 6 months, and a different one for 6 more months, there would be NO BENEFIT to using yours. By that I mean, their actual PHONE SCREEN, would not have any damage with EITHER screen protector applied.
I would put money on it.

Before we do this do realize I'm not arguing with you :good:
There's a huge difference between 4H and 8H. If you drop your phone using a PET film, the phone screen will crack/damage as a PET film provides no shock absorption. If you drop your phone with a glass protector on, the 8H comes into play and keeps everything in one piece. If dropped severely, the glass protector will crack and not the phones screen as it is the primary line of defense. This is what is was designed for. Don't forget that our glass also includes a coating to prevent fingerprints and makes oily residues very easy to wipe in 1 or 2 passes.
You also need to take into account that to make a mold for this is ridiculously expensive, hence the higher price. Then you need to take into account shipping and customs fees. Everybody always figures China products are super cheap and they are, but when you take all this into account you'll figure out why there's such a mark up.
some of you are so quick to jump on this guys case.
if you think you can do better for cheaper, man up. damn.
The only people who are complaining are ones that haven't used something like this before. The treated tempered glass screen cover is something I miss dearly from my Galaxy S2. I've used literally every popular screen cover, dry and wet and nothing gave me the satisfaction a glass cover gave me.
I'll be picking one of these up when it becomes available. Well worth the money if you ask me.

I HAVE dropped my phone with a 4h screen protector and nothing happened. I am speaking out of first hand experience. The screen was fine and so was the protector actually. The only thing that damaged it was what I described earlier, and in that instance the 4H kept everything in one piece and I was amazed by it! I had no idea that would happen. It looked like a car's windshield. Again, I repeat, this is on a 4H hardness screen protector that I paid less than half the price for. Actually it was a few years ago too so they may have even somehow improved their products since then.
Your point about the difference between the 8h and 4h is correct on paper, but in real life use - which I have. 4H does the exact same thing!
I wish we could get SGP in this discussion too and maybe prices would be lowered lol.
You need to price it that way to make money due to the higher cost to manufacture - nothing to argue about there! But the price a consumer pays for it is not practical vs other alternatives.
Also, oleophobic coatings are known to wear off of even the most reputable brands. But thats not a big deal.
durandSGS3 - if you actually read my posts, I was jumping on the case of companies in general over charging for products - I mentioned SGP as one of them. Also, not sure what this has ANYTHING to do with "manning up" but if its the case, its been done.
konman795 - I've used a phone with the glas screen protector and I didnt notice MUCH difference over other good quality protectors. None especially worth $10.

You know, how a screen/screen protector breaks depends completely on the angle it hits the ground at.
Just because you had a drop with a 4H film and survived, doesn't mean it's any better. It's all about the angle. You just got lucky.

Correct. :highfive:
I think the part that stood out to me most was the fact that my SGP Glas never scratched. I used their ultra crystal covers and they constantly scratched and I had to replace them so much. The other covers I've tried weren't as clear as the ultra crystals but they didn't scratch as easily. I guess what I'm trying to say is the SGP Glas was the best of both worlds. Ultra clear and didn't scratch while I had it.

Yes because you have tested each and every angle of drop using a 4h and an 8h to factually determine that the 8h is just that much better right?
I have experience with it, do you have any experience with it?
And I have not only dropped it 1 time by the way.
Open your mind a bit to more possibilities than what you're fed to believe by claims that have no substance.
No offense to OP!
konman795 - The only CHEAPPP protector I use is on my ipod touch 3g, and it was like $2 off ebay. - That doesnt even have any scratches and that thing has been through abuse from little cousins.

Anyway, Believe what you guys want and spend what you want. I just wanted to express my opinion and I will leave this topic now.
To the OP - good luck with your business - and I'm not just saying that. I wish you luck.
To everyone else - (and NOT knocking OP) Do some research into products to see what is practical and what is overkill.
Hey everyone, I like most of you have probably been looking all over for that perfect glass screen protector that makes full contact. You have probably read all the comments in the screen protector thread and got no solid answers. Well lucky for you I got the answer.
Taiwan's Devil Case.
They make a special glass screen protector for the XZ with full contact. It is THE OCA glass screen protector. You can buy it from Ali Express for like 25 Usd with free shipping.

I am in no way affiliated with this company. I was just frustrated with finding crappy screen protectors for this phone and am now just happy to find something that works. I want to share it with everyone so you can have awesome protection for your phones. I'm using it right now and it feels like the real phone screen. Can't even notice the protector is on.
Can you share pics of yours installed? It's like 28$ with shipping.. A little bit pricey
Here is the images.

Nothing much to say other than it has two bubbles on mine due to dust particles. Colour is not 100% exact like body due to them not being able to reproduce the Sony colours. Unfortunately it does cover the Sony logo. But no deal breaker for me. For a measly $28 to protect your ~$600 investment for at least 2 years, not a big ask. I'm sure you have spent a crap load of money on other stuff just for ****s and giggles.
does any of the viewable screen get cut off ?
Very slight cut off at each side. But I've only noticed when you mentioned it. It has not affected the way I use the phone. I think it looks like a fraction of a millimetre.
Found a similar on Amazon, and is cheaper

Have you used it? Does it make full contact? I heard that it has some weird dots on the protector screen when looked at carefully and at certain angles.
The one I use doesn't have any of that dotted thing.
Up to you really. Your money. I'm just telling people what I know from what I currently am using.
