Autobrightness bug finally fixed! - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

FYI, latest tmo update G925TUVU4EPF1 finally fixed the stupid autobrightness bug. Phone now keeps the brightness setting when autobrightness is disabled. [emoji1]

Mines is still doing it

Did you noticed the other bug before the update?! When the auto brightness is on and let say you are going under shadows the brightness is going crazy

We need more details than "its freezing"
what are you doing when its freezing? How many apps do you have open, what kind of apps? what sorts of switches do you have on ?(wifi, gps, bluetooth,...), etc etc etc
more details
and also your definition of freezing.
If the phone is brand new, and is "freezing" and you have to pull the battery out to fix it and all during non intensive and few things, exchange it - its faulty
Just doing random things, I'm anal about to much background stuff so it's always clean. And I have my brightness close to 100, when I put it lto sleep and wake it up its so dim and I need to tap the brightness seek bar to get it back up

Sounds like an app you downloaded may be messing with your brightness settings.
Also, have you updated to the latest over the air update from rogers?

Ya, running 4.0.4. I did a battery pull and let it die. I've been good so far. The brightness deal is pissing me off. Maybe light flow?

I would go one but one with apps you think are suspect. Uninstall one by one until you find the culprit.
I dont have the same issue as you, although I usually keep my phone at 0 brightness

From what I've read and heard there are some bugs with the SIII and light flow. I'd recommend uninstalling it, rebooting and seeing if that fixes your problem. I along with other SIII owners had issues with it when I had it so I uninstalled it until the issues are fixed.

Has anyone found a fix for their screen staying on?

I know its been reported with jelly bean that the screen is unable to turn off normally and you have to push the power button to turn it off. Currently the only fix I know of is a reboot. Anyone with any other tips??
Mine works fine, did you flash any mods or some kind of lock screen app?

Yes, I'm on Wicked Sensations v1.2 right now. But i've read that a few people have been having this issue with JB. I just started using XDA so I can't post on the OP yet so thats why I posted here. Was just hoping for some feedback and opinions. I have flashed a few mods on it, but none seem to be the problem...i dont think. haha
Settings > display > screen timeout..
Is it set to 10 minutes? Cause that would do it

Yeah that was the first setting I tried, changed it to 15 sec to see if it works and it still stayed awake
Thanks!

haha I got tired of guessing what 'could' be causing the problem so I did a clean wipe and flash and it hasn't happened since
Thanks

I thought that may be been the culprit but the setting was off
Thanks
I'm having the same problem
I am not rooted and running stock jelly bean (ota version that I installed early because I was too impatient for them to push it to my phone). I have noticed my screen randomly staying on, too. It's very annoying because sometimes I don't notice until my battery is dead. A reboot fixes it temporarily, but I'd love a permanent fix if anyone has any additional ideas! Thanks! I've tried all the obvious settings, but can't figure it out. Is there an app that can help me figure out what the culprit might be?
(And can I just say, an edit to a post ought not fall under the "wait five minute" rule for new posters. Just my two cents .)

Use an app called Stay Awake. Works great for me.

OFFICIAL BELL JellyBean Screen flicker

Anyone else seeing this ? I am on stock , non modded bell jellybean and getting screen flickering , even after a fresh odin install!
I had some flickering going on the fist time i opened the gallery app while the pictures were loading but haven't been able to reproduce it since. Everything seems top notch so far.
None here. Did you try a factory reset?
Sent from my SGH-I747M using Tapatalk 2
i get flickering sometimes but doesnt bother me too much... usually in Words with friends
I have reset , usually flickering for me is when texting so far. Happens occasionally
If this is anything like the aosp flickering issue, then disabling hw overlays should help.

I've not had any flicker that I have noticed

it's kind of lame to have to be disabling hw overlays on a stock rom isnt it ? I understand it for custom stuff....never expected to see this on full clean stock
No flickering here. Also Bell GS3 JB.
None for me either

Yep my Bell I747 flickers. I've updated 4 of my friend's s3's (rogers and bell) and they all flicker. You guys just have bad eyes, you don't notice it.

How do we go disabling hardware overlays ?
I think in developer options
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Upgraded to k4 via Odin. No flickering. Installed cwm flashed nexusmod k4. Installed 50 apps plus themed 4.2 keyboard, 4.2 camera, and the jellybean blue theme. No flickering at all. I used to have it on aokp with inverted play music.
I'm on rogers.

Flickers here too. Especially the status bar icons flicker a lot when scrolling, sometimes outright blink. Very disappointed in JB. Scrolling is liquid smooth IF I don't have Power Saving on. If I have Power Saving on, scrolling studders. It never did this under ICS.
Maybe the flickering is because I have power saving on.
Stock, no root.
Just to let you know that disabling hw overlays seem to have solve the flickering issue. :good:

Another little annoyance , the list keeps growing.
I get flickering when writing emails. I have tried a factory reset and still get it. This is on AT&T.

Why Brightness slider dissappears after reboot

Anyone else see that brightness slider dissappears after A reboot, after it being set to display in notification panel.
Is this a known issue on the new Wicked v5 rom?
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda premium
I haven't used wicked in over a month now, but I think I remember this happening. If I remember correctly, it only happened when you are on auto brightness, or have low battery.. Maybe I'm getting experiences with other roms mixed up but that's what I remember.

[Q] Lag going from Portrait to landscape

I have been having this issue since I got my Note 3 last week. It happens no matter what rom I am using.
My Note has a lag when going from portrtait to landscape when I turn the device. The lag is about 3 seconds and is very annoying. Does anyone else have this issue? Is it just the way it is or is there a adjustment in the settings I do not see? Like I said it happens no matter what rom I am running even stock.
Thank you very much.
Jeff
My stock rooted Note 3 does not have a lag switching. Might be you have some app that is causing the issue.
Yep, rooted stock on mine is maybe half a second.
Turn off the 'smart rotation' feature. I did this and it solved my issue.

Yup this would do it. Had the same happened to my s4 when I had it on. It checks to see your head orientation prior to changing.
