Original post :
Hi all, i open this thread (and i think i'm in good section) to launch an idea i'm pretty sure a lot of us have thinking about one day, because i miss something really simple (in practice)... But because of sammy closed framework i don't think i could be "easy" to do, and i don't have the skills for it.
All of us know that Samsung have done a cool job on notification panel, with toggles (like SBsettings on JB'd iPhones and now in CM) and, on my opinion, with music controls when playing. That's great, it works pretty good, lockscreen is useful...
BUT, after playing a lot with MIUI music player (which is the most complete and lightweight player i've ever used), i miss sammy's controls to much, so i'm going back to stock player (which is not bad, but, hey, MIUI one is wonderful).
That panel is as good as it is frustrating !
We can't choose toggles (I've never switched bluetooth or gps), we can't use controls in others music app.
If think that a lot of us use alt players like PowerAMP, winamp, google's one, music mod... But none of these can use stock controls.
SO, i wonder if a courageous and skilled dev could be able to mod these controls to allow us using them with others apps... Maybe it's just xml modding (after all we can see hacked camera.apk with button remapping), maybe it's totally impossible without samsung sources...?
If it's possible, maybe we could enhance sammy's panel to choose what we want to do inside (Choose toggles as in CM, put brightness control like in Galaxy Tab...)
I open a timed poll to see and show to devs how many of us want it.
(After 30 days i consider this will be a dead thread...)
(And, if Samsung see that's a popular idea, maybe implement it directly... ^^ dreaming is not a crime...)
So, vote please !

Sorry for bad english...

I made a post on a Portal audio mod for the S-Pen and thought I would search and find some sweet sounds for different system sounds. Use a Root Browser (I used Rom Toolbox) to move them into:
System
Media
Audio
Ui
You must be rooted and have the permissions set to rw- r-- r-- on the sound files.
I will update and post new mods as I find them. Please feel free to post your mods or make suggestions.
Here is the post of my Portal S-Pen sound mod.
chuko303 has kindly shared a few very good sound mods in this post as well. Please check them out if you like the system sounds mods.

Also if anyone forgets to make a backup of the stock audio files, I have one and can upload it for whomever needs it.
[mod] Misc system sounds
Here is a low battery file that I haven't yet heard yet due to the awesome battery our phone has. It is the Pac-Man death sound we all know well.
My phone finally got down to 15% batter last night and personally I think the Pac-Man sound is f'ing sweet for the low battery sound.
Here is the like for it

This next one is a real good one for you Metal Gear Solid fans. It includes the codec open and close files for the S-Pen and the alert sound for the battery low tone.

Archer themed sound mod
If anyone is a fan of the animated show Archer then you will love this mod pack that I am working on. I currently have multiple mods for different actions but I am not quite finished yet. Below is what I have so far.
S-Pen Detach 1 - Archer "Wait I had something for this."
S-Pen Attach 1 - Archer "Damn, I had something for this."
S-Pen Detach 2 - Kreiger "Aww, pigly."
S-Pen Attach 2 - Kreiger "Aww, goatly."
Power Off - Archer "Pam, I will end you."
Power On -Archer "Don't you see me rocking this hard slab of chiseled man body?"
Message Alert - Dr. Kreiger "Zing"
Low Battery - Archer "Danger zone"
Charger Connection - Archer "Just the tip!"

* I will upload an updated zip as I make changes. *
These are awesome thanks for your time in making these.
Doing something wrong?
scratch the following. I moved them, set the permissions, deleted the noti2 files and renamed the new ones to replace them. they then showed up in the spen notification selector in settings.
I'm fairly new at all of this modding, but getting better at it I think. I copied the files over and extracted them, moved them to the system/media/audio/ui folder, replaced the files, and set permissions on the files to rw-r--r-- but it's still not making the sound when I attach and detach the pen. I can even select the files from the ui folder and play the sounds, so I know the sound is there. Is there something I'm not doing or should be doing? Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks, I'm currently working on a full archer sound theme. I've got a few done at the moment. I'll start posting them here when I get off work today. Be warned now, some of them may be slightly suggestive so use them at your own risk
The Archer sound theme is up and labeled. I have a few alternative sounds for some of them that I will be adding as well.

Okay, I think I found the file you asked about. The one I found is called Dialer_new.ogg. if that's not the one, would you be talking about the double beep that's made when a call is started?

No, they are not flashable. Just have to move the files with a root browser to the files mentioned in the op...

This was posted in the S3 forum but It works Perfectly on my Note2 and Note 10.1 just thought I'd share the link. If this is posted before forgive me I searched and did not see it.

I'm not sure if I'm the only one, but after owning the GS3 and the Note 2, I've gotten awfully tired of the water drop sound when touching anything on the phone.
I changed my screen click sound to the CM10 touch sound and the soft buttons to a different sound pulled from the samsung rom (kind of a softer click). Both are much more suitable for me.
Just thought I'd make it a little easier for anyone else like me.
This is not flashable. Must be rooted. Download zip and extract 2 files. You need to use a file manager and paste these in the /system/media/audio/ui folder, then fix the permissions and reboot. Good habit to back up original sounds.
Should work on any GS3 and Note 2 stock based roms.
3-5-13 Fixed. New zip has AOKP touch sound, and lock/unlock sounds.

I'm trying to get an outgoing mail sound(swoosh), on my unrooted SGSIII. Would your method work for me, if i downloaded a file manager? I have the sound that i want in my notifications folder, but there's no place to put it, in order for it to work. It's the sound that you would hear, when you send out a text or email, from an iPhone. Thanks for any help that you can give me.
Sorry, you need to be rooted. I used to use ChompSMS instead of the stock app. I believe it uses the same sound when you send. It used to at least.
yeeeeeeaah!!! you read my mind!! i was so tired and wating for someone to do this!! you rthe best thaaanks a lot!!
Hello Note 2 users...(ATT)
Here you'll find a set of modified files for our device that allow stereo sound from both device speakers.... (pretty sweet sound when they both play your music tracks)...
And for you AOSP fans, it includes a fix for that annoying in-call audio issue that forces a toggle down/up to get sound back to acceptable levels.
See below for installation instructions, warnings (got to love those) and other important info about the up's and down's of these sound mods.
First: Credit
Hosting for these files has been graciously provided by @rogersb11 and his AFH account. (thank you brother)...
Please mash the H*** out of his thanks button if you would please, for not only the space to host the files, but for his mad skills in testing and helping me present these for you. He also kindly zipped these up for me. (can't thank you enough man).
And to Cyanogenmod, for the bits needed to create the AOSP VERSION of these files.
Of course, a big thanks goes out to Samsung for everything we love and hate about our NOTE 2.
Second: Disclaimer
The use of these files, resides solely with YOU, THE USER...
I'm not twisting any arms here, so if you decide to go for it and your phone explodes.....well, you know the deal. These files were created for my personal device and use.
I'm offering them to you with that knowledge, and the choice resides with you, or not, to use them for yourselves.
I accept no liability if "YOU" flash these files and something happens that you don't like. (rant off)
These files operate at the hardware level, and "WILL" change the primary operation and sound outputs of your device. So please read carefully, and as you'll see below, MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR PRIMARY SOUND FILES !! (because you might need an easy way back should you change your mind)...:highfive:
Third: Install
The first file is for Touchwiz based roms...versions 4.4.x
Note: I've tested the TW file on 4.1.2 stock rom as well and it works perfectly .>>>>> UNTESTED>>>>may work on 4.2/4.3 as well....
On Android File Host, locate the StereoSound-TW-Note2.zip
Download it and place to the root of your SD CARD.
Once placed, go into your root explorer app and locate the following file in system/etc/. tinyucm.conf.
When located, use your explorer app and add .bak to the tinyucm.conf file. This preserves it as a backup for later use. (DONT FORGET TO SAVE)...:good:
Once your stock file is backed up...you can then boot into your TWRP or CWM recovery and flash the file you downloaded, then reboot/enjoy.
Note: Audio output enhancements have been made to the flash file, and volume levels will increase approx. 20% beyond the obvious addition of the front earpiece now acting as a speaker......
BE CAREFUL WITH IT !!
The next file is for AOSP based builds versions 4.4.x
Note: no lower android version testing has been done using this file. >>>>>UNTESTED>>>>may work on 4.2/4.3 as well....
On Android File Host, locate the StereoSound&InCallFix-AOSP-Note2.zip
Download it and place to the root of your SD CARD.
Once placed, go into your root explorer app and locate the following file in system/etc/sound. tiny_hw.xml.
When located, use your root explorer app and add .bak to the tiny_hw.xml file. This preserves it as a backup for later use. (DONT FORGET TO SAVE)....:good:
Once your stock file is backed up...you can then boot into your TWRP or CWM recovery and flash the file you downloaded, then reboot/enjoy.
Note: Audio output enhancements have been made to the flash file, and volume levels will increase approx. 20% beyond the obvious addition of the front earpiece now acting
as a speaker......

Bugs/issues:
Anytime we change the root files for a device, a price is paid. In this case we have gained stereo sound and call fixes for a host of android versions/roms, but it comes with a downside.
During audio playback with headphones plugged in, we get a low level audio output from both speakers.
For some of you, this will be a show stopper especially if you are in the office or in other situations where music playing could end your fun.
But for those who throw their phone into a purse or pocket and blast music through headphones outside or during recreation, this downside is a small price to pay.
I will continue to explore and mod these files in an attempt to eliminate this bug, but so far my efforts break the stereo function and kill the mod altogether.
Should you decide these mods are not for you after flashing them, or if something does not work right, the revert steps are pretty easy.
Just use your root explorer app and delete the new file you flashed from it's appropriate location in your system file. (It will be right next to the file you added the .bak too.)
Then remove the .bak from your original file and reboot-done.
Edit:
Some users are reporting a failure of the in call mod for some AOSP variant builds.
If your are using vipermod for sound boosting, you will need to remove the viper driver before flashing the sound file for AOSP.
I'm working on a patch for this issue, and will update the OP as more information becomes available...g
Enjoy the Mods....g

Greg did these, I just told him which file for aosp, zipped and tested so as of this moment they must be combined for it to work unfortunately. However this will be gone into further because it 100% solves the incall issue. Just have to figure out how to seperate them. This was intended as only a stereo mod and then noticed the incall

Which AOSP rom are you using ?
I'm forming a list of builds that are presenting problems. ..and also the effects of other sound mods like boeffla and viper..
I've had no in call issues at all with pure CM, carbon, cyanide...and the list is growing.
Not to say that you are doing anything wrong of course. .I'm just interested in finding the problems so I can attempt a fix.
Thank you for the report. ..g

Hello Mates.
I feel that Earphones and Calls on this phone is not Loud enough for a Powered Audio Device like this.
So i was wondering: since there's no working flashable supersu.zip, and Magisk doesn't let me edit System Files, in this case i'm talking about Mixer_Paths.xml on the folder "/vendor/etc".
1 - Is there any other way to edit this file?, since mounting R/W doesn't work and changing permissions is denied.
2 - Is there any MOD or Magisk Module that let's me edit system files? or that let's me Increase Sound Volume?.
Please help cause this is the only thing that's keeping me from loving this phone , i know that since this is a gaming phone there are a few less good things but i'm good with it because to me Design, Audio and Performance is the most important, and photos are good enough on this phone.
Thanks

EDIT I did receive a reply on my question about in call ui (small pictures-typical of most OEMs these days)
Hello thanks! so I should have made myself more clear but was also curious about the solution. I do not own the device but am considering getting one-so wanted to know solutions and possibly answers to common things (volume (am all for high incall volume and loud ringers , loud playbacks, brightness etc). I did take a look at your solution and will use it once I get the device. Not too much into the more complex stuff but flashing zips for the mixer xml is up my alley. One question: I asked this elsewhere but maybe you can answer this. How does the call UI and contacts interface look? Not that this phone is necessarily for eye candy ui, want to know if you have full size contact pictures or those small round ones (that appear in the top middle of the screen during a call) If you could post some screenshots or pictures that would help. If you can. Let me know. This device with its unlocking ability and some development is getting my interest. Appreciate it.
