The Shield TV, while small, does take up a fair amount of desk space. There's an official stand for it, but at $30, it's a bit much for a simple block of aluminum.
There are plans for a 3D printed version but most of us don't have a 3D printer.

Are there any plans for a DIY stand that's good looking and easily built using common DIY tools and materials? Or something cheap and generic that fits well?
While we're at it, maybe even make a version that mounts to the back of the TV or monitor?
Hide it makes a wall mount for the shield that can fit behind your wall mounted TV, personally I really like the official stand it's a little pricey but it's solid and has the clean edges to match the shield.

Do any of you have a case for the lapdock to recommend?
I travel a lot and use my lapdock everyday and I want to prevent it be scratched up.
Cheers
I just searched "Atrix Laptop Dock Case" on amazon. I ordered the one at this link because I liked the color scheme (slime green on black). It's your standard neoprene case with a zipper pouch, a bit overpriced, with no handle. It makes me comfortable stuffing the Lapdock into a backpack though (which is all I really wanted). I'd buy it again if I lost it, but not if I could find (a cheaper) one with a handle. Good luck.

might consider getting this.
There's the official one, but it's pricey.

Try this company for the OEM case, I found their price and service to be excellent

I haven't checked the exact dimensions, but you could also try a neoprene sleeve for the 13" macbook air (the laptop dock has that extra bar at the back, which may add the extra couple inches) or even the 11" air.
I got the motorola one, looks and works a treat, cost more than the rest but worth the money.
I bought a Kenneth Cole Reaction bag from Fry's. Below is a link to what the bag looks like.

I'm looking for a case that will support the tab (folio style or the like) yet have the cut out or designed in a way to have access to the headphone jack and dock port.
I would really like to load movies onto a SD card and watch them via the USB host adapter. However, I will be doing this mostly in places that will need headphones. Also will need a case that supports the tab so I don't have to hold it. (Thanks Samsung, for this little inconvenience)
Anyone see anything that will make this possible?
I would like this as well. Most cases give headphone access but that port connector location kinda sucks. We almost need a case with a build in port connector that has a wire oud the side....perhaps detachable.
Ya.. I've been looking at cases for an hour and now resorted to looking on ebay.
That dock connector is seriously in a bad spot.
I could really care less about the case, but I care greatly about not having to hold the darn thing up with my hand while I'm using it. This includes while watching movies or showing someone pictures I just took.
Trying to add a support solution without adding the case would be an option...
I have the ACase Folio, which I am very happy with. When I want to use the Tab with something plugged into the dock connector, I fold the ACase cover all the way back and stand the Tab on the Rabbit Portable Stand and Holder, $10 on ebay, shipped, at http://cgi.ebay.com/Rabbit-Portable-Stand-and-Holder-iPad-Galaxy-Tablet-PC-/220772954466
The stand is just wide enough to accomodate the USB adapter (as well as the USB cable). Works great for me.
Thanks, I've seen the rabbit stand and it's the best stand of that type IMO. However it's just one more thing to carry. Add that to a bumpy plane ride and I'm still looking for a case that does it.
I just got the Belkin slim from Best Buyer, and it's going back.

The Rabbit Stand comes in two pieces, that you interlock to use (see first picture attached). When not using, one of the pieces fits flat into the other, and the two pieces fit flat into a seal-able baggie that comes with the stand (see second picture). Would take up minimal space in your carry on for traveling.
For bumpy plane rides, you could use velcro to attach the stand to the Tab or a Tab case.
(I have no connection to the Rabbit Stand or the ebay seller. It just happens to be the only good solution I have found to using the Tab in landscape mode with the USB adapter plugged in, and a good one at that.)
Oh yea baby ill give you full access. That what she said she really did.

Hey guys, I HIGHLY recommend this one from Amazon:
rooCASE Multi-Angle (Black) Leather Folio Case Cover for Samsung GALAXY Tab 10.1 Wi-Fi
I cant link to it yet, since this is my first post!!
I got it from Amazon last week after using the Belkin one for a few days. It's $43. but it's really worth the investment!!
The pouch is detachable from the Case itself so that it can stand portrait position AND landscape position. It attaches to the case by two large Velcro circles.
You can flip it around so that the charger faces out and the case closes while charging. Or you can leave it with the port on the bottom and move the Tab up (in landscape position) and the cord runs along the inside spine of the case while it charges.
Check out the specs and more details at Amazon.com
Executive Portfolio Leather Cover for Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 GT-P7510
Built-In Stand for Comfortable Viewing at 45 Degree Angle. Detachable Inner Sleeve for Handheld Operation;
Business and ID Slots with Accessory Flap. Elastic Loop for Pen or Stylus. Dual Zipper for Easy Access.
Access to All Ports and Controls.
A MUST Have for all GALAXY Tab 10.1 Owners!! Available in Black, Magenta and Red. Search: rooCASE Galaxy Tab 10.1 Executive Portfolio
Reattaches by Velcro for Landscape / Portrait Viewing. (Galaxy Tab NOT Included)
(NOT Compatible with Galaxy Tab 7, 8.9 and 10.1v P7100 European Edition)
If you are concerned about thinness and slimness, this isnt for you. This REALLY makes you look like an Executive!!
I saw this. It's just too thick for my liking.
I could have dealt with it, but the fact that you're always going to have a keyboard sized front cover in front of the TAB was a deal killer.
At first, I thought about that, but then I quickly realized that I wasn't. I guess the Tab distracted me too much I can't ignore the extra protection & stability it provides though. My stylus doesn't roll too far either and is easy to find on my desk which is also black (and the lights are dimmed for a little "Table-
Hopefully someone will develop one for those users who prefer a slimmer form factor which has the functionality & accessibility of this one. The port cant be moved so they should definitely take a closer look when designing them. If they put it on the other side, then it would be waaayy to similar to that "other" device, which shall remain nameless.
J
RooCase is AWESOME from Amazon! so many different ways to set it up its impossible to not have your desired configuration. Unless like someone else said you bought this tab for the sole fact of it being thinner than the thing that soaks up my woman's monthly friend. Just goes to show you that Apple will suck you dry!
I use an OtterBox commuter case and it is awesome. The case is larger and heavier, but also stays on the phone properly unlike all lighter ones I have tried.
My only issue is there us no freaking way that it will fit in the genuine samsung vehicle dock.
Currently I'm gathering pieces to fabricate my own dock that uses the genuine suction cup arm. You would need the samsung kit plus my dock, or will have an extension so it will stay standing upright on a desk, all while using the case. I'm thinking any smaller case could also use it with the addition of stick-on rubber spacers to make it fit snug.
I figure there may be a small market for it, prototype will like be made from aluminium on a cnc, but would wear out the case going in/out so will use a plastic injection moulder once finalised. May cnc plastic initially if can get my hands on a block.
So far the plan is for a dock that it slides into, like the samsung desk dock, but with the fittings to attach to vehicle kit arm.
Thoughts/comments? Foreseeable demand?
Pricing I anticipate to be roughly half to cost if the genuine vehicle dock.. So by the time you buy both it adds up. I think would be worth it, and would buy one myself if available.
At least, so far have found nothing similar...

I had a similar problem for a different reason, my SGS2 has no case but is quite fat due to the Momax 2700 mAh battery I use.
I ordered an "EXOMOUNT exogear" car holder as it has some sort of claw-lock mechanism that appears to work well with really fat phones. I have not received it yet so can't comment. 25€ on ebay.
It has no lighter-charger, but you can get one of those for peanuts.
Your plan sounds pretty interesting tho, nothing like a well-built custom product.
Exogear's Exomount
Yes I can vouch for Exogears' Exomount.
I've had it for 3 months on my S2 with CaseMate Pop, and works like a charm.
Exomount has a large jaw and can clip just about any smartphone bordering the size of a tablet.
It sticks awesomely on the dashboard. It will stick on any surface, including glass/windshield, but I prefer it on the dash.
If you don't believe me, look at the youtube video demonstration.
Yeah I looked at various mounts, my main motivation is I want it to charge at the same time, and want the charging part built into the dock so I don't have to dock and then plug in a loose cable. Docked and charging in one motion.
Hopefully will get time to draw it up in 3D tonight.

I'm very interested in this project. I'll keep an eye in this thread!
Have started the design. Hopefully will order the MicroUSB for the base this afternoon to measure up that part.
Guys
This may save you some time......

You can use it with standard RAM Mount fittings (which come in a wide range of different types and sizes).

Thanks, had a surge of laziness when I saw that haha
I think I'll build mine as a personal project then instead of as a possible commercial project - though mine will have charging built into the dock Will keep posted.
I'm looking for some kind of tote/micro laptop bag for the N7 in which the clunky wall charger can fit. There are plenty of slim form fitting sleeves with handles, but I haven't seen one with a gusseted exterior pocket. I have seen some pictured with just the usb cord emerging from a slim pocket, but it's obvious the chunky cube won't fit. I don't want a large bag where the Nexus would slosh around a lot. Ideally the bag would fit the N7 in a slim protective case, the big charger, and maybe another small item or two. I may have to rev up my sewing machine. Any ideas?

It might be a bit bigger than you want, though. In the large compartment there is a smaller sleeve that I put the tablet in. Still plenty of room for other things too.

Anyone other magnetic mount Qi chargers out there? Cheers.
This one works wonders for me. It's not magnetic but the self actuating arms are smooth and silent.

I have the limitless case for my Pixel 5. It's okay. I paid $34 for it on sale and even that feels overpriced. It's fairly large and bulky but protects the phone well. The buttons are sub-par and the fingerprint sensor is very recessed. I haven't tried any of their magnetic accessories so can't comment on that. If you do decide to pick one up, definitely wait for a sale.

Amazon would be your best bet. I got a case called the Dbrand Grip. You get to choose a skin to put on the back of the case and it's wireless charging compatible.

I'm using this case for my Pixel 5 and happy with it.
It has metal plate built in for magnetic mount.
I can wireless charge it without removing case.

I have both as well as the card holder.
I originally purchased the Aramid Fiber case, but that material proved to be a fingerprint/oil magnet. I then ordered the Speckled Fabric case and am quite pleased with it. It has a soft touch feel, doesn't attract dust or dirt, and cleans up very easily with a damp cloth. The case itself is not the slimmest, but it is also not what I would consider bulky, being just slightly smaller than the Spigen Tough Armor. The top and bottom edges have a slight lip to keep the screen from sitting flush when placed face down, with a screen level dip on the sides to facilitate edge swiping. Though it seems some may disagree, I feel that the edges are perfectly contoured, the buttons feel just right, and it has plenty of grip. Overall, in my opinion, it is a great case assuming you plan to take advantage of the Limitless 3.0 accessories.
The wireless charger mount is nearly perfect with one significant caveat: The vent clip is terrible. However, since the ball joint cup/tightening ring is on the mount and not the clip, if you already have another mount that has a 17mm ball joint, such as an iOttie dashboard or disc drive mount, you can easily swap in the Mous mount and it will fit and tighten easily and securely. As for the magnetic hold, it is very secure and does not have any alignment or slide/drift issues like most of the stick-on metal plate magnetic systems I've tried previously.
As for the card wallet, it too is nearly perfect, assuming you only need to carry a maximum of 3 cards and a couple of double or triple folded bills. It's a little stiff at first, but the leather-like material seems to have a little stretch to it, and will also return to form assuming you don't cram it too full. It also attaches securely and detaches easily.
At this point I've been using them for about a month, and I would say it's probably the closest thing to a MagSafe-like setup you can find for a very select range of Android phones.
All of the pieces also seem to be well constructed and are likely to last quite a while assuming you don't regularly put your phone through a lot of abuse.
My final piece of advice would be this:
Since their products are a bit pricey, buy the case first, try it for a few days to see if you like it. If you do, go back and use the 20% off code they give you with your first purchase to purchase the other accessories you want to add. If you don't, return it and you're only out the cost of return shipping.
bit of a late reply but yeah i have the limitless 3.0 case myself, i saw some people review it and they seemed quite positive about it so i bought it and i am happy with it, it still charges wirelessly just fine and NFC still works as well even tho its quite a chunky case which i rather have then a case which gives like no protection
