Google Play says there is an update for it. However when I try to update it, I get the following message: "Can't install app - HTC Service - HTC PNS can't be installed. Try again, and if the problem continuous, get help troubleshooting, (error code: -505)".
I'm running stuck android 6.0
I have enough free storage space
I can download/update everything else without any problems from Google Play.

It's nothing to be concerned about. It's just an update to push services. No worries to not update. I had HTC Help do something similar before, but didn't care because it's something that I relly didn't need an update for
I have exactly the same issue - and as my camera suddenly went zombie on me (sloooooow so it's currently useless) I assume it could be related to this update.

It's HTC Speak. The most recent update via the Play Store is causing it. Go to the Store, look up HTC Sync, and uninstall the update. (also turn off auto update for it)

No swift key. Thanks for the suggestion

no swiftkey either here
I had the same error on boot and I didn't have Swiftkey installed. It actually turned it to be the Google keyboard. I switched back to the LG keyboard and then updated the Google one in the Play store. After switching back to the Google one, I no longer get the error message on boot.
Anyone can confirm this "hdcp" advice?
Just cleared the google play store services data and the error went away. This happened to me after I used unlock code.

Happens to me also, no Google Keyboard and only started after I initially rooted.. But even after a stock restore, it still persists.

last time I had it I had to root and delete google play services frm data with root explorer then reboot and follow mine steps then install the latest google play services in between the errormessages
Deleted Google Keyboard. Problem disappeared. This was causing my phone to restore deleted photos and mess up photos that were already on the SD card. Huge headache.

My grandma's phone was having this error message, I tried clearing Google Play Store and Service, Calendar, & Calendar Storage's data and cache. Didn't work. I tried this and the error message went away. THANK YOU!
I had the same message of "unfortunately the process .com.google.process.gapps has stopped"
I did as the others suggested and I un-installed google keyboard and rebooted the phone and the message was gone!
Just a guess, but Sounds like it must be some kind of bug/error in the way the LG software for the keyboard handles a change in keyboard settings when it is changed or swapped out since some people have had the same issue with swiftkey?
I had this same error. Phone is rooted and it turned out to be the Google Keyboard. Uninstalled it and problem went away.
+1 on rooted and Google Keyboard causing the error.
Anyone know of a fix or workaround? LG's keyboard causes my phone to lag.
Go-to Google keyboard advanced settings and uncheck the display icon setting then reebot.

Just wondering if anybody has tried it since there are no posts. I wanted to see if anybody knew the changes.
They started rolling out, Amazon hasn't published download links yet (in case s#it hits the fan), so we will have to wait a little bit longer for qualified answers...
I have no intent to install on my device, but let's see what the changelog will tell us.
edit: BIN file download is available... Thanks to russy23 & wjchen0 for posting the updates. :good:
(Just got home from work and saw the links, nice work.)
I hope the update has a patch for the mms bug called Stagefright.
not sure about the changelog, but this page has the updates
http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201607550
Well, after the update a warning symbol with the message "Error" appears to the screen.
Now if I try to turn on the device it boots in the recovery mode and nowhere else.
Thx Amazon -.-

The Bug is possible only with the processing of mms information by Hangouts.
The Fire Phone, doesn't have Hangouts, so it probably wont be infected by the malware.

It's not just hangouts that was affected by stagefright. Stock messaging, Facebook Messenger and whatsapp could also trigger it. To my understanding.

thanks for the link.
Updated the 461013820 rom to 463001420 without any problem. non-rooted device with google play store installed.
The latest software version includes bug fixes.
this is what Amazon said about the new update, well i have to say more:
They fixed the bug of the AID Mode during the call, FINALLY!
They improved battery life. I say this because i've noticed a little improvement on the battery life.
They didn't fixed the bug of the headphone (When you disconnect the headphone while you are listening something such as Youtube, Music etc. If you replug the jack, It doesn't work anymore until you restart the device )
Did someone find anything else?
4.6.3 just being installed on my UK O2-locked Fire Phone (463001420). Looks like the download link is already up on Amazon UK - http://fire-phone-updates.s3.amazon...update-fire-phone-33.4.6.3_user_463001420.bin
I guess my phone tried to update last night... I woke up with my phone stuck in recovery, just continues to boot there... factory reset did not fix.
Help!!
if you are rooted, do you just loose root? Re-root after the update? Thanks.
Just got the OTA update not a big file at all
Installed the google apps..and so far so good
So for those who are wondering, after sideloading through adb, I was able to reroot using kingsroot and was also able to install safetrap and use it.
Any noticible changes??

thanks for the link. I noticed the 4.6.3 update is only for the unlocked version, while the AT&T version is still 4.6.1. When Amazon released the previous 4.6.1 update, they released versions for both AT&T and unlocked. Weird.
Same issue as ediebol reported. Stuck in Recovery. I've done the wipe and reset with no luck. Attempting to sideload, I get the * cannot read update.bin * error in ADB. File is copied to the ADB directory so it shouldn't have any issues finding it.
Anyone have any other ideas?
Hello all.
After 5 years of having a HTC One s it was time for an upgrade. I upgraded to the HTC m9. I am having 2 issues first is that I cannot find a version of Google Play services to work on my phone. I can find an old version where I can access the play store but I can not open any other google related apps due to an error saying that google play services needs to be updated. Any time I update I get the warning that google play services has stopped working. I have tried clearing the cash and resetting app preference but with no luck. I am on stock 6.0. What build version of the app should I be on?
On a second issue I can not update to nougat as the install fails at 25%. The screen changes to a red triangle with a line and the phone reboots and nothing has changed. Also if I go to update again the file seems to be gone as I have go download again.
Please contact if you need any more info or if you can help please.
Thanks
Found out I'm not the only person with this issue. No fix found yet tho I'm afraid.

Hey guys, I've disabled update notifications through play store and I've disabled auto update system under developer settings as well but this keeps popping up every now and then and I can't figure out to block it. I'm rooted on August 2019 pie build. I've searched the services for play services and play store and can't find anything related to what this update might be from.
I've searched around Google and XDA and haven't found anything regarding this specific pop-up. Anyone have any info?

The annoying part is it doesn't pop up as a notification or an app that would show up in overview mode otherwise I could just long press on it and figure out what process it's coming from. I gotta figure it's from one of the play services but there's so many different ones and nothing I've seen really stands out like updater or anything like that.
Just letting you know, if it pops up & you accidentally hit the update button, turn off wifi & data, then clear the cache/storage on Google Play Services to stop the update.

I think the process is android system, notification section, it should be listed as download or update or very similar, just turn it off.

Also interested in blocking this popup.

Just found this command to try in another system update blocking thread. Trying it out now. Not sure how often the pop-up appears but I usually see it about twice a week

I haven't seen any negative side effects to using this yet but if someone thinks so please let me know.

There is nothing with update or updater listed that I can delete when I use titanium. I think Google combined it with play services.
Any idea where it would be located for manual deletion? I've searched through both system and priv apps folders and found nothing that would indicate it is the system updater?

Does the "pm disable com.google.android.gms/.update.phone.PopupDialog" need to be run on a rooted device?
I tried on my unrooted pixel 5, but get the following error. Unfortunately I can't root because of my banking apps.
Code:
adb shell pm disable com.google.android.gms/.update.phone.PopupDialog
Exception occurred while executing 'disable':
java.lang.SecurityException: Shell cannot change component state for com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.gms.update.phone.PopupDialog to 2
at com.android.server.pm.PackageManagerService.setEnabledSetting(PackageManagerService.java:21042)

I found the answer myself. YES it needs root
I have tried to run this 'pm disable' command and run into the Java error. I am rooted, though with ADB, trying to gain root or anything, everything seems to get a 'permission denied' error.

Hi all,
I've tried to update my chrome application (the pre-installed on my Global Poco F3 which is under MIUI Global 12.02 stable global) I have tried multiple times to update the Chrome app from the Google Play Store with no success to this day.

I have tried to update chrome on a Redmi Note 8 pro without success as well. However, under LOS (Lineage OS 18.1) another phone has successfully updated the Chrome app, meaning this issue is probably not due to a weird Google Play Store bug but most likely due to MIUI 12.
Anyone has encountered this issue ? And is there any way we could work around this ? (instead of waiting for a potential fix in MIUI 12.5)
Thanks for any help on this matter, I can provide the whole backtrace if anyone want to see it but I doubt it would help anyway since she looks pretty obfuscated to me (the only thing I could understand was some execute function being called but all the classes names have been randomized and most functions call names too).
Hi! This is usually a problem for those who have set up the system for the first time. I also encountered this, after a while Google Chrome was updated on its own. The same applies to the Android System WebView application. Wait for a while and the app will update.
UPD: Or you can download right now from apkmirror.com, if you want

You were correct, I had unfinished the device configuration (the first time you have to connect your Google account etc.) hence it didn't work to update Chrome and Android Web View, I just finished it right now and Chrome did successfully update. That's weird I think Android should change (if this issue is at the Android level).
In the end I didn't need to do all this logging out, clearing data & cache and so on, just finishing the device configuration solved the issue.

I had a somewhat permanent notification that said something along the lines of "Finish configuration of your device" I clicked on it and then I pressed next and tweaked the last options, once that notification was cleared, all the Google Apps kinda of updated themselves somehow (I saw some of them even reinstalled themselves that was a bit weird but everything went fine afterwards).

Unfortunately I didn't have this message to "Finish configuration". So, I followed a tutorial on internet and erase all Google play store and Google Play services data.
After that rebooted the phone and put my information again on Play Store and than the update starts working for it self.

Good thing you figure it out, and also thanks for explaining how for others who will face this issue, maybe sometimes the notification disappears for some reason or the configuration doesn't finish successfully and this issue happens.
