I noticed that once in a while the colors look so washed out. I first noticed it when I was looking at my pics and they looked really awful. After a while it turned back to normal. Happened to someone else?
Automatic screen RGB color changing from direct sunlight washes out screen color but don't think that has anything to do with pictures. Unless you were looking at pictures while the screen changes.
It will affect anything ink the screen ATM it happens then return took normal once out of sunlight.
Might not help but that happens to me allot while working outside

Yes I believe thats what happens. I am using my phone under direct sunlight most of the day. It is happening right now. Any way to make it go away?

I think it happens to help screen be more visible on direct sunlight... I think its pretty awesome and helpful.
It happens the same if you try it indoors and put a led or flashlight pointing direct on the sensor above the screen
Ok, at least I don't have a defektive unit! Thank you both for the replies!

Did this issue get resolved for you? I have a 10 whose display color fluctuates all the time
I ve been told that this is typical LCD behaviour. I ended up switching to manual brightness because full brightness was causing that.

For me if this is very small keep your phone and n'joy.
This technology (ips) had this issues and i see other phones and tv's with the same bleeding. For now we can't do anything.
If you want perfect screen you must go on amoled technology.

Sorry for bringing up this old thread.
My two day old G4 has some light bleeding too. I find it pretty annoying and I'm going to try to have it replaced. It's the result or combination of not enough or wrongly positioned adhesive and insufficiently applied pressure during LCD-glass-body/frame assembly or simply a bad panel. In such a case components of the screen can lift or even move within the screen and let light from the backlight shine through the upper layers of the panel. Of course, there can be other reasons for light bleeding. In any case; You don't have to live with it. It's a production error, a quality issue and not a feature in LCD panels. RMA it or get it replaced. You paid hard earned money for it.
You don't want to give your significant other yet another reason to yell at you while you're reading XDA in bed. Rate this thread to express what you think of the OnePlus 3's display minimum dimness. A higher rating indicates that the display can get extremely dim, ideal for reading in very dark environments.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
The screen can go pretty dark. However for me the contrast suffers a lot when on the lowest two settings! Gaming videos on youtube get really hard to watch because everything is just dark.
The colors also shift with lower brightness. Especially the grays turn really blue. My swiftkey gray theme looks like I have a blue theme when the screen is dimmed.
Having a night mode shortcut on the notification tray, it's easy to use this device for reading in bed. Also the display will get dark enough for those kind of things.

I think it not that easy to set. If you set it to minimum you barely see anything and like 1 mm on screen above minimum it's extremely bright compared to min. Personally I think the auto-adjustment feels kinda buggy, too.

Auto brightness is very painful on op3, we need some small app or mod to fix this one up

Yeah, it's awful! It seems like it never does what I want it to do. It isn't bright enough in indoor environments that have adequate lighting. And in dark environments, it is extremely dim and also randomly has random fits where it goes to maximum brightness for a few seconds and then goes back extremely dim again.
I hate it, and have it turned off unfortunately. Would like to see it corrected in an OTA from OnePlus.
About 4 nits according to a video on YouTube
I random fits are very hurtful to eyes... any one using any good apps to control the auto brightness?

disable adaptive brightness?
I tried the best auto brightness in sultan opo's build. Just use the brightness bar to customize the brightness in auto function. Hope someone can port it into our op3 , more specifically oxygenos

I was driving while using google maps as navigation it was a very sunny/bright day and i couldnot see much on the screen so i just disabled auto brightness some how the screen got so dim i could not see any thing at all.I had to stop on emergency lane of high way and struggle to see any thing at all because it was so dim i couldnt do any thing at all by chance i got to the auto birghtness again and put it in auto mode again.Damn this birghtness thing of op3 is seriously killing me!
This yet another auto brightness is working great https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=biz.gyrus.yaab

I like the minimum brightness, it's like having included a screen filter (that often distorts colors, but that is what all do). If you don't like this you can easily set the brightness bar at 60-70%, which won't be too bright (compared to other screens (Samsung S3))
The minimum brightness is quite bright, such that it hurts my eyes to look at my phone when just woke up even with night mode still on and minimum brightness.
Lux dash has fixed this issue for me
The display seems really good however once in a while my display dims as if adaptive brightness is on yet I have it disabled. I touch the screen and it brightens back up. My timeouts are set to several minutes.

I also feel it's too bright for me.
My temporary solution is install a app called screen filter.
Any Solution?
Has anyone got a solution for this? I received my OP3 yesterday and this adaptive brightness is a complete mess. Hows the situation with custom CM roms? Maybe is because of defective light sensors or connectors? My previous LG G3 on Android 6.0 had a flawless auto brightness control. So I think it's not a Android 6.0 bug...
Who actually makes this display?
The Mrs's LG G Flex 2 also suffers with poor black levels which is odd for an OLED.

Hello everyone,
I just bought my oneplus 3 but when I am scrolling with blacks in the screen I see something like blurring or blending the black color with the next one for a second.. I didn't have amoled screen again so I don't know of this is normal.
http://imgur.com/xTfrRrh
Here when I am scrolling with low brightness (5%-10%) especially in the last colors the blur is too strong.
Sooo... Is it defective? Should I return it?
Thank you in advance
Edit: https://youtu.be/8KVOvsE_l2Y
I believe that's normal I've noticed it on my screen too but because this is my first time with an amoled screen I thought it's probably normal... I wouldn't worry about it.
Return it. Not normal IMO as I don't have it.

Even with low. Just tried multiple combinations of screen and ambient brightness and I cannot replicate that glow/blur.
I guess it's not present on all AMOLED panels, similar to backlight bleed on LCDs.

No this is 100% normal and EVERY AMOLED screen has this. For the people saying they can't see it, they are blind. Sorry for being so blunt but it's something that all AMOLED have as the slight purple blur is the turning on of the pixels when they are displaying black. My S3 (had 3 of them), S4, S5, S6, OP3 and any other AMOLED screen had this. My friends OPX Had this, my friends Note 5 had this. Don't worry your phone is fine
I see it as well.
me too ..
and i think its normal
My first OP3 has burn in problems and it also had this common amoled issue, my second OP3 has this "issue", It's normal, I had the same issue on my S4 mini.
THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE, it's perfectly normal all AMOLED have it. Please close this thread as it's useless
I've used various display technologies, all have pros and cons. I suspect that to display something very dark the pixel only lights up briefly. Since it's not much energy used, the various parts of the pixel (RGB subpixels using a certain matrix) light up - but not with the same speed. I'd even more suspect that it's the same with light pixels, but far less noticeable with the human eye.
I would not bother....
Hello. I just want to state that the display of the HTC 10 is horrific. It is the worst I have EVER seen. I exchanged 3 of these phones, 2 came with blatant LCD defects (Purple tint in bottom left corner, and the second one had a line of dead pixels or something on the left side) and the 3rd one was objectively perfect... and yet I still returned it. Why? Because apparently all LCD displays have a black area at the bottom of the display. It seems to be from how the display itself is made, I had similar issues with my very first LCD monitors (this was right after the CRT era so extremely primitive ****). All 3 displays have the same black area/shadow at the bottom. I even went a step further and looked at 2 HTC 10s on display in shops and even the HTC U11, all have the same issue. It is immediately spotted if you turn your phone to landscape mode with a white background and look at a 45 degree angle at the right side and then at the left. You will notice that one side is perfectly bright and the screen seems extremely close to the glass and the opposite side will be darker and give the impression that the LCD is farther away from the glass. It is clearly a limitation of SLCD technology. The purpose of this post is just to warn people that are sticklers for screens like me as once you see this the phone will be unusable. I use my phone for only 2 things google now and google chrome both of which have white backgrounds. The shadow from the bottom protrudes from the bottom edge 2mm upward and severely strains my eyes to the point that it's impossible for me to read anything off the phone. The degrees of protrusion vary depending on brightness and LCD but it does on all of them. It is less visible when looking at the display head on, but when looking at it from a 60 degree angle like I do the shadow covers almost 1/3 of the screen. I tested this on 5 units and 1 U11.
You are just being minority mate. Most of the people can use their phones just fine without complaining.

He is right. Many people report a similar thing as "yellow tint" in this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/help/eith-yellow-tint-display-t3379961
It's just that in some screens it is more visible than in others and/or some people notice it more than others. Mine has it too, but I have learnt living with it.

Sorry I returned my device.
Yes I am in the minority, I posted this for people like me not for the majority. Most people probably don't even notice but for me having this effect on my screen renders it unusable. Its either my 20-20 vision or my adhd but even without that I feel like a flagship device should not have such a low quality screen. I repeat this issue is on all htc phones with varying degrees of visibility but never 0. Also the fact that 2 of my devices had glaring issues that even the people at the return counter noticed without me pointing it out also contributed to my disappointment in HTC.
I have seen this on my previous htc phones. An HTC One m7 that i almost bought second-hand and the HTC One m8 tha i used for some years. And yet here i am, bought the 10...
I wish they didn't make such good phones.
I don't have any problems related to screen...
SLCD just some kind of IPS, all of your problem is common IPS cons. May be you shall get a OLED screen then you know it will have lot of different cons
But I agree the HTC10 screen is not on par with high end IPS screen
I see it. It's very very VERY subtle, but it's totally there on my 10 as well.
Worst you've ever seen? You never saw the Droid Bionic's screen then.

HTC 10 has a decent vivid screen!
At the club, at the bar, or just in your mom's basement, nighttime is when you come out to play. Rate this thread to express how the Samsung Galaxy S10+'s camera performs when no or low light is present. A higher rating indicates that the camera sensor "sees" lots of light in dim conditions, and that the resulting photos have minimal noise. A higher rating also indicates that when the flash fires, the resulting photo is evenly-lit without any bright spots.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Low light performance is average I would say, on par or slightly better than previous years Galaxy devices, but far behind the Google Pixel line. Thankfully, the deficiency seems to be all software, not hardware related. Install the gcam port as described on the forum, and suddenly night pictures are brighter and mush more detailed.
Can you give a link to a working version? None of the ones I tried even started...thanks

Redmi 5 plus capture better night shots with g cam..
Andrei Frumusanu from Anandtech (one of those very few reviewers who does "in-depth" in reviewing) says after the May update, what S10+ delivers at night is on par with Pixel's night sight. https://www.anandtech.com/show/14511/samsung-galaxy-s10-may-firmware-update-improved-night-mode
Worth checking it out :

Cannot tell that Night Mode is any better than before I had it with last update with phone on Photo. Can anyone else see a difference???
