Manual Upgrade to 6.0 - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

In my country G3 still didn't receive the update to 6.0 OTA. I'll probably just upgrade it manually since i am tired of waiting.
If i manually update my D855 to 6.0 it will be able to receive 6.0.1 or others upgrades OTA in the future? The manual upgrade to 6.0 done by the LG flash tool is official?
Thanks in advance

If you flash kdz made for your phone you will recieve ota otherwise you won't. For receiving ota you have to flash kdz file made for your for your country's g3.

I strongly reccomend you to follow this thread to prevent hard brick: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64624353&postcount=3
Using the LG Flash Tool instead of the newer LGUP may cause serious troubles when flashing Marshmallow kdz files.

LG G3

Hello Everyone !
I have a question which really interests me. I have stock rom installed on my LG G3 D855. Oversharpening of the screen annoys me. I have decided to root and install that overshapening fix. By doing this I will change kernel of my LG G3. The question is will I be able to receive any official software update from LG after rooting and changing kernel ?
Thank you for your patience you took to answer me !

no, if you change the kernel you don't be able to receive OTA updates, but you can install it over KDZ Flasher...
Hi, You don't need to receive the updates. The custom ROMs based on the stock firmware are way better and they are updated soon after the new stock firmware is out.
By rooting and installing the oversharpening fix, you must have installed TWRP, which means that you are no longer on stock recovery. Do not take any OTA or you may risk bricking your phone. Manually flashing is really your only option at this point. You can flash official firmware, which is available here, but you cannot update using OTA.

Is there any difference between flashing kdz and receiving OTA update. I mean are they (kdz file and received update ) different or completely same ?

OTA is over the air update, its via 3G or wifi, directly from LG servers, if you change the kernel, the servers or the update center dont know what version you have and dont detect your device or better saying dont know what phone you have!
Flashing in KDZ is completly different, because you need to use a PC to download the firmware, need to use a USB cable to connect your device in PC and use KDZ flash tool to flash the firmware on your LG G3...
anyway, i belive the 2nd option is better because sometimes the newest firmware dont be avaiable in update center when its leaked (of course it depends of your contry and etc) and you can download it on PC and put it on your G3 as soon as possible!
Thank you for detailed information. My question was actually about the files. Kdz file and received update. Are they the same ? Let me explain. Say I have 2 LG G3 D 855 smartphones. I receive OTA update 20I to first one and flash kdz 20I to second one. Will they be the same or different. Apps , tweaks , quick settings .etc ?

What's the best way to update to MM 6.0

I have a stock software on my Verizon LG G4 which is on Non-Verizon network.
What is the best way to update it without losing all my existing app and setting? OTA wont work since I am not on the Verizon network
I loaded the SUA on my computer and it does not have the new update.
Do you think LG Bridge would help?
I just need the update, no fancy rooting or anything like that.
Your help is appreciated.
Ok
please download the KDZ file here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-g4/general/kdz-download-kdz-24c-official-lg-servers-t3317412
and then you update the software using
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/h...mm-lp-t3249803
make sure to choose update option instead of refurbish.

LG G3 Update To 6.0 with KDZ

Hello, I would like to install stock 6.0 on the G3 with KDZ Flashing because it isn't released in my country yet. My first question is, does KDZ flashing the stock firmware voids warranty? My second question is how can I clean install OTA release when it comes out? Thanks.

Upgrade from KitKat to MM?

Hello,
Ever since I bought my G3, I was unable to update it due to cryptic "Phone not registered yet" error message. But now I want to update it to MM. Is it safe to directly update to MM from KitKat (V10i-GLOBAL-COM) using the KDZ method? Or do I first have to update to Lollipop first?
Its safe, it will install new modem/bootloader etc to boot the new ROM, just remember to use the CSE (Factory reset) flash method from LG's software

Problems updating my G7 ThinQ

Hello, I'm new to this device and I'm just having troubles with it. I bought a branded LG G7 ThinQ and then, back home, I decided to flash stock firmware (no brand apps and so on); no troubles: it works perfectly. The Firmware I flashed was update to May security patch. Later, I found out that a new versione was released and I tried to update via OTA. No updates found. Then, I download LG Bridge on my PC and searched for updates. It found an update and I confirmed the flash, but unfortunately, the update process stops after downloaded the firmware and sideloaded to the device. LG Bridge now gives me an error saying that it can't be updated. What's the problem for you? My system version is V10b-222-01 and the build is OPR1.170623.032. I forgot to say I've already tried to flash the firmware downloaded through LG Bridge with LG UP with no results.

It's completely normal that you can no longer receive updates ota by changing firmware. It's the reason I decided to keep the tim branded firmware on my thinq. As for the lg bridge update, maybe it notices a discrepancy between your build number and/or fingerprint and your system version and so blocks the installation. I'm mostly guessing here, I'm not an expert. You might try going back to your branded firmware and see what happens.
I have the same problem, LG G7 thinq SW Version V10b 222 01. It's the original version, I didn't flash any other firmware.
