Native VoIP Client Problem - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Hello,
I have configured the native VoIP client with my SIP account and I'm connected to the service. While I get incoming calls and enabled the VoIP Account for inbound and outbound calls I can't select or choose to call someone with the VoIP account. Only Sim 1 and Sim 2 appear in the caller. Even when I select it as primary account to call.
Can anyone help me with that strange issue ..I have the same problem also on a CM13 phone. Even Client is connected and configured I can't call someone with the SIP account not even the test/check number.
Thanks

You have to set up a contact with a 'sip phone number' under SIP/internet call [further down on a new contact's page] and use that when calling. AFAIK the dialer does not support the entering of sip numbers.

Has anyone else got this to work please? When I set up a new contact, I don't see any input field for SIP/internet call. The telephone field only has the usual options: mobile, home, work other, and custom.
I'm running Oxygen 5.0.6 on the OPO 3T. Many thanks.

It is there. First name, then below that company, then phone no. and then SIP. You are searching in the wrong place viz. under phone no.
If you are using the Google Contacts app, I don't know whether it is available there. I am on the AOSP Contacts ver. 1.7.31

I'm using the native contacts app (v.2.2.0) on Oxygen OS and the SIP field is definitely not there. Adding a new contact gives me the following fields, in order: Saving to; Name; Phonetic name; Company; Title; Phone; Email; Address; Website; Notes.

Then that is the issue. I am on Nitrogen Pie and Contacts app is built in. Install Google Contacts and see whether you get this field.

[Q] Caller ID mapping

I have my new HTC Trophy set up to sync with Exchange/Outlook. I'm in Norway, so my contacts phone numbers are stored in Outlook in this format: +47 12345678
Now, when in Norway and getting incoming calls from 12345678, the phone does not recognize the caller.
Is this a known issue? Any workarounds other than removing +47 from all my contacts?
I'm having the same issue!
Anyone know how to setup WP7 to recognize not only the full number?
Nothing new here?
i noticed that in the windows live contacts section you can specify which country the contact is in,..would that help?
i don't know..i'm not having these problems to be honest!
In outlook you store the phone number with +47 but when you dial the number, you want to dial it without the +47
Is that correct?
I have had similar issues with other phones with extra "0" in between region/country/city codes, for example in Germany.
I have a couple of ideas:
1. There is the International Dialing assist function. I have no idea what it does other than what's described undertneat it... Does that do anything helpful?
2. What if you create a separate Windows Live account, and add in /copy your contacts, without the +47; then link the two contacts. The contacts will appear as just 1 contact in your phone, and you'll have the option to call with or without the +47
So here is the deal:
I have set all my contacts mobile numbers using the right local area code (for example 04111-8181-8181) so when I’m traveling to other city the call is routed correctly. But when someone call me I receive the number without the area code (example 8181-8181) and the phone did not match this with the contact.
So the problem is not when I'm dialing the number but when I receive an incoming call from my contacts.
I don't know what this International Assist do too but is turned On.
And hboos, I didn't find where I do set up this Country in Live Contacts but I don't think that this is the problem since all of my most important contacts are coming from Outlook.
Thanks
I store all my contacts like this one: +49123456 without any spaces. My HD7 recognizes them all. Perhaps you have to remove the space?
Well, if removing the spaces/formatting doesn't work, you can always go with my other suggestion. Create a separate address book in a Windows Live account with the incoming CID number, and link the two contacts on WP7 (open contact 1, click the chain link at the bottom, click contact 2). WP7 is even smart enough to suggest you likely links.
Talys, this suggestion lead me to another question: Is there one button to link all my contacts or I need to go one by one (because I have 1200+ contacts).
I'll try to remove the spaces.
Just an update, didn't work removing all the spaces
I've got the same problem. Living in Norway, syncing with Exchange/Outlook and storing all my phone numbers with a +47 prefix. I'm sure creating a windows live contact for each of my Exchange/Outlook contact and link them would work. But with 800+ contacts, the thought of maintaining two lists doesn't sound like a feasible solution for me.
I've tried the following.
Using a 0047 prefix instead of the +47. Same problem.
Removing any spaces that Outlook add automatically. Same problem
Using a windows live contacts instead of Outlook/Exchange contacts. Same problem.
The best solution I've come up with so far, is to store all my Outlook/Exchange contacts with two numbers. One without the prefix and one with. This isn't really working either I like to store mobile number where they belong.
However, everything seams to work as expected with SMS/MMS messages. The +47 prefix doesn’t cause any problems what so ever.
Now with some developers already getting access to WP7 registry I think it's a matter of time to find the entry to edit

I don't think there's a button to automatically link your contacts.... that's a lot of contacts to link! But you only need to link the ones that are important for Call Display, right? So the list would be smaller?
i always have the same problem on wm6 and had was to edit the registry caller ID match the default is 8 so if you change it to 6 or 7 then it will be ok..so its just to get access to the wp7 registy to change that setting

Sorry to bring that again but that's THE POINT!! We need to hack the registry to edit this.
Anyone have done this?

no....there is no access YET to the registry or file system
try this reg key
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Phone]
"CallIDMatch"=dword:7
Have you tried Settings -> Applications -> phone and International assist - On?

I don't think this is the problem, or if it is, the default value is higher than 8 as all phonenumbers in Norway has 8 digits. 11 if you also count the +47.
In any case, works fine for me using Telia in Sweden - I have numbers stored in a variety of ways including +46 (0123) 12345 as well as +4612312345 and they all seem to show who's calling. Could be it's operator dependant somehow?
I have the same problem, my contacts are synced from Google. Country Slovenia, format +386 31xxxxxx. Number does not link to name of the contact. Tried Caller ID fix from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=907971, but problem remains. Can someone try and see if it works for him?

Google Voice + Messaging app integration issue

When ever I get a text to my Google voice number (I use native Google messaging app) from someone I know, I can see their name but number has changed. Its kinda annoying because it starts a new chat thread. I end up adding that "weird" number to my contacts to make it work properly. Has anyone been able to figure this out or adding server number to contacts is the only way to make it work?
There is no way around this issue, turn off text from Google voice and just text from the voice app.
When using the standard Messaging app and not the Google Voice app, messages are sent by proxy via a "Google Voice Access Number". The GVA number is that weird number you're seeing. You can call that number to connect to your friend's number, and they will see your GV number on the caller ID. As far as I know that access number is semi-permanent... so you can add it to your address book. It may change after several months at which point the call just won't go through.
To avoid this, disable "Receive text messages on this phone" under the Google Voice settings page from your browser and use the Google Voice app.
I just use the GV SMS Integration app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mdrtools.apps.gvintegration&hl=en
Works flawlessly. No crazy numbers or anything. I just see their names as if I wasn't using Google Voice.
Quick trick

One thing i do to avoid this problem is save the google voice port number to my contacts i usually text the google voice created number or initiate the text via google voice app to avoid this problem.... hope this helped!
Thanks for all the info guys I really appreciate it.

[Q] anyone had any luck with the native sip client for calls?

I've seen quite a few tutorials on how to make VoIP calls with sipdroid and Google voice. Has anyone been able to get their sip account connected to the native sip client in the phone settings menu and use it to make free incoming and outgoing calls. If you have what steps did you take to make it happen?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
I have used my 2 account with native sip client for outgoing call and working.
I have just added account details
Call setting - Internet call setting - account.
Just add user name and password and server name for your sip account (most of using [email protected] here xyz. Com is your sip provider.

I just tried it today. It's just terrible. Calling OK but conversations are choppy. Native SIP call has serious bug.
CSipSimple, Sipdroid worked well.
Edit: Solved, apparently my call recorder app was causing error
Were you able to make calls using your existing number or did you have to use Google voice.
I'm using a betamax clone Jumblo. Google Voice is not available in my country yet.
I confirmed my mobile number and set up SIP settings in android.
Therefore your answer is "yes", people see my mobile number during conversations.
That's awesome! Now all i have to do is figure out how to configure my own lol

Well let me give you mine.
I assume you already have a confirmed phone number on your voip provider.
Then on your phone
Phone/Call Settings/[internet call settings] Accounts/Add account
Username: Your confirmed phone number like +901234567890
Password: Your voip password
Server: your voip server like sip.jumblo.com
Set as primary account: enable
[tap on optional settings]
Authentication user name: Your voip account name (not your phone number like above)
That's all :good:

I've done it with my Sipgate account, which gives me free incoming calls, but I have to pay for outgoing calls.
I went to the phone app, menu button, call settings, go down to the bottom of the list where there is the section for "Internet call settings", then Accounts, I then added an account, and filled in the details. The username and password are not the same ones I use to log into the Sipgate website, but in the account details there, it tells me which ones to use.
I could hear the other caller fine, but the problem I had was that it only worked on speakerphone, and the other caller complained that it was very bad echo on the line.
Try using third party sw.
Sipdroid and Bria are good, particularly Bria have best audio.

I've tried it again with the ROM update - stock ROM android version 4.4.2. The sound quality is much better now, however when someone calls me, the phone doesn't ring, it just displays the caller details on the screen, so if I'm not looking at the phone, I won't know they are calling. I tried with an inbound call over the voice network, and that rings just fine, so the problem isn't with volume settings or ringtone, unless there is a different option for internet calls hidden somewhere that I can't find.

Hello Jonathan,
did you ever manage to solve the issue with no ringtone on incoming internet call? I’m having the same issue and I can't find any information anywhere on how to enable the ringing. I'm using a custom ROM Androind Revolution HD 31, which is based on the Stock samsung ROM.
Thanks and cheers.
Martin
I have the same issue, when I use the native internet calling of my phone (galaxy note 2 N7100, android 4.4, stock rom (no root)). A while ago I read something that it was a know issue with touch-wiz so I just used Csipsimple waiting till they fixed it. Now that it seems like we won't get lollypop I was wondering if there could at least be a fix for this issue.

[Q] Current way to send SMS via Google Voice over Wifi?

I tried https://plus.google.com/+MatthewGarbett/posts/YyFVaTQrPmi this. The (Google) Voice app main screen does not have an SMS write icon, if I click on a transcript the SMS write icon redirects into Hangouts. Hangouts SMS says "send SMS to +1 234 567 8901 from my carrier number". I do not have a carrier number, the tablet is wifi only, I would like to use use my Google Voice number. Mind you, https://www.google.com/voice/b/0#inbox doesn't offer anything but a Call button.
In hangouts if I click my avatar then a mysterious account appears that wasn't there before I added the two xposed modules: the account is called SMS .
In Hangout if I open my Google Account there's a confirm phone number but if I enter my phone number then it goes "confirming phone number" and stays like that.

I'm not sure I follow.
You're using the stock Google Voice app and can't send regular texts on the Nexus 7 2013?
On mine I just click the little pen/paper icon up top, and tell it who to send it to, then type away. There's not hack needed.
In your google voice settings, is the account setup correctly with your google voice number showing up? Do you re-direct via another phone number? I have it re-direct to my phone as well, but it sends the message via wifi, so that way I get responses on both my phone and in google voice, but that shouldn't be necessary.
I'm afraid I don't use Hangouts, so I can't comment on why it's directing you there, but that seems very odd and backwards.
It sounds like your account is setup screwy. Maybe uninstall google voice, and go to the actual google voice site, and see what's linked to it, and start from scratch, and then re-install the app? There shouldn't need to be any special tricks to use it over wifi. Only calling via wifi on a mobile device requires a 3rd party app. Sadly, no MMS though.
I think the problem is that you need a US number to verify your Google voice. I will be down there next week, I will check.

SIP calling does not work

SIP calling option does not work on my HTC One M9. Did anyone else see this behavior. I set the SIP calling setting to 'Ask for every call'. SIP aaccount registers fine (for receiving calls).
When I make the call, I select Internet call and then select the SIP account, but then the call still goes out as 'Verizon' ..
What could I be missing here?
phone details
stock/non-rooted
android 5.0.2
baseband - [email protected]
build - 1.33.605.15 CL511781 release-keys
(essentially latest OTA version from vzw)
thanks!
You need to have their sip connection added to their contact. Are you sure you are using sip contacts?

Don't think I follow you. The number I dial can be dialed via SIP account (or) my VZW number, based on where I am. How do I specify a SIP contact..? It's just a 10 digit phone number, no?
Maybe I am missing something here?

ah, that makes sense.. i see a 'receiving calls' text under the account name and thought it's registered. app tries to register again while making an outbound call and it's failing.. so any way i can see the log or something similar to pin down the cause?

Still have not been able to make the outbound SIP calling work.. The SIP account registers just fine (says 'Receiving Calls'). Perhaps the phone is diverting SIP calls via VoLTE even after selecting the appropriate SIP account to call from. Disabling the advaced calling option is not helping either...
This is very weird. Anyone else successfull in making an outbound call via SIP account (via callcentric/localphone account etc) from M9??

Nope - I'm now on Marshmallow and no solution yet. Perhaps VZW blocks outbound SIP for some weird reason

Same phenomenon with my HTC 10. I used SIP calls with htc one X for a long time, switched to HTC 10 with same settings. When I make a call, wierdly it is redirecting to operator.
Could not find anything on HTC website.
Maybe it is related with android versions.
oneX's version as I remember was Kitkat
10's version is Marshmallow
Are you using the native SIP? Have you tried a third party app? I currently use Grandstream Wave with no issues (MM, stock, rooted).
