I have attached below the finals in the XDA LIVE splash screen contest. Please take a quick peek at the images below and vote for the splash screen of your choice. They are listed in no particular order and 240 x 320 to save space. The winning splash will have to be submitted in 320 x 320 png format.

What nice work! So many are drop dead georgeous. I chose Live Glow, mainly because I'd prefer a darker splash when rebooting the PPC indoors, don't like the bright flash of a white or light background screen. Plus it's mentions WM6 as well.
#6 and #8 are both great, I just preferred the matching Today theme for #8 (sorry #6!)
I like 6 & 8.
If I had to choose one, then 6.
Let me know if you think it would be useful to collect all of the today theme's and splash screens for WM06 in a thread and link them to the wiki. I usually like to see what I am d/l first so just files on a ftp are not always useful.

Considering we can download these files and drop them in our \Windows directory to change the OS splash screen (hint, hint), that would be very useful! Thanks Mix!
Just so everyone remembers, I will embedd the today theme that matches #8 (WMXL Areo) and the Black WMXL Today theme (both from the original contast thread) into the Rom.
Oh yeah I vote #8 although I like the black ones also...

You get one vote for a splash screen that kyphur will integrate into the new rom, the rest will be placed in a thread that anyone can download. As for #41, there were only 10 spots for the poll so I could only include splash screens that had at least one vote or more. It was nothing against your design, we simply ran out of space. I will link the new thread from this poll and you post as many splash screens as you like.

Hello fellow XDA'ers.
I am trying to make animated boot screens for the second boot screen that shows op. You know the boot.gif thing where you specify images in the boot_animation.xml file.
Problem is, the phone garbles up ALL the animated gif images that I have created. The original ones from HTC works fine, but not my own. What am I doing wrong here?

The domo-kun is supposed to move his mouth, but on the phone it shows all garble, like it cannot animate the file properly or something. I tried both interlaced and non-interlaced.
Any ideas?

No it isn't that thread is about the first splash screen witch I perfectly know how to convert images to and flash them on the phone. However this thread is about the animated boot screen that you can change on the HTC build ROMs, where the files reside in /system/media. I have been through the whole Dream - Themes and Wallpapers forum, without any luck on this matter.
Seems that they must not contain transparency and maybe not very large, but investigating the last claim.
Finally got the domo-kun splash to move its mouth, lol
I am having the same problems on the Hero rom for the Dream. I have tried nearly every setting in PhotoShopCS4 can you tell us how exactly you got your gif to animate properly???
I am using gimp, I made 3 images for the domo-kun boot screen which can be found here: http://ostebaronen.dk/android/2nd_splash/domo-kun/
Nothing in the image can be transparent, so if you have a single pixel which has a transparent background the image will not load properly at all. Afaik photoshop does that to GIF images to save space, which is quite annoying, at least it did that last time I tried.
Sweeeeet. Going to try this when I get home, as I tired for HOURS the other day to get this right. There's another thread we had about this, Ill link it to here, as this is at least progress!
Please keep us updated on your progress on this development.
As someone with limited graphical skills, I like the fact that someone is figuring out the hard parts for me =P
Well this would only work on the hero rom am i Correct or would it work for Cyan 4.0.1?

I've wrote a few guides for people on this... add my user name to your search criteria
I've written a guide along with the startup & shutdown animations I've made from the Android Commercials. Search for the startup & shutdown animations Android Commercials. The guide goes even so far as to give you the details on how to rip pretty much almost any move/video file and make your use it as your animation for startup or shutdown. I've also included the info for how to change the "spash screen". Lastly I believe this is a first... I've worked out how to enable and use shutdown sounds. I'm a bit busy with some modding but I'll update that thread with the info and the shutdown animation with sounds in a couple of days.

please dont ask questions in themes and apps, Q&A And general are the only places you should post questions of any kind. as for your request, its the splash screen you wish to change not the boot animation

It has a fair amount of work. And cant do anything unless someone posts the framework-res.apk, com.htc.resources.apk, Rosie.apk and Systemui.apk. I cant promise that I will be working on it (anyway not in the next month-exam season), but those are the files that we need to properly decompile it.. If someone can take these from the rom and post a dropbox link, I'll see if something can be done (if I get free time after exams, and if I still have my Desire with me at the time).

@Droidzone i used to work on this mod...it's not impossible to have it for our desire..but as i saw it takes a lot of time to be prepared(that's why i gave it up)...if you have time..go on...

lol.. The files also have some binary libraries. Hexediting them is going to be tough..

That's not the point. If a post isn't in the proper forum, you ought to report it for maintenance. Flaming the OP/other members is not only an immature way to respond, it's a violation of forum rules against flaming, which is considered a graver offense than posting in an improper forum. You post once, OP and others retaliate. Finally instead of a mature discussion, we end up in verbal brawls over something so utterly pointless, and creates the chaos you mentioned.
Report a post and forget about it. I agree with you completely that non development work shouldnt be posted in the DEV section, and have already reported this thread for moving.

THis is not a question or problem it is a upcoming mod that i and some are working to bring out
@sleeky, upcoming mods belong in Desire General/Q & A. Once you have a complete product to share, it should be posted in Dev. Though I took interest in this post you shared, I was the first to report it for moving. Dont you see that otherwise the entire thread is recipe for flaming?

if you mean 4.0.1/4.0.3 then coz ders is no camera drivers for them yet but the older version work fine
Would love to have the amaze cam working on the old Desire. I'm looking into it as we speak and found something that seems promising. Making a backup first to be sure, but if it works I'll let you know

Tried it, but no working HD recording and Burst Shooting. Found a post about that while doing the backup, but decided to give it a shot. Sadly I got the same results using Sebastian15's Runnymede 4.0.2 SE rom. I'll be on the hunt for a working one
